Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for March 1, 1999

Torrie Wilson and David Flair are sitting in a limo. David goes through his answering machine on his phone where WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair keeps telling him to call him as he tells Torrie that his father Ric is going to retire.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell show up. Scott Steiner tells everyone in the crowd that they will not see Diamond Dallas Page, as he put him in the hospital. He says he wants to be the crowd's role model, but all he sees is "genetic junk" while he is a genetic freak, and that there is nobody in the ring who could grow up and be like him. He tells the crowd to give it up, as they will always be losers in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Buff Bagwell says it is too bad that he and Scott Steiner are in North Carolina, for they are Duke University fans. He then gets down to business and talks about Scott's match with Goldberg last week, and about how Rick Steiner got involved. Not too long ago, Rick paralyzed him from the neck down. Tonight, Rick gets another chance to do taht, as he and Scott Steiner are calling him and Goldberg out. Scott Steiner tells Goldberg he has size, but not his size or the largest arms in the world, and tonight he will show him for what he really is: a bunch of hype for WCW who isn't good enough for the nWo. Buff Bagwell finishes by saying "Who's next? Who cares?"

Riki Rachtman is at a Nitro Party at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with some of the Nitro Girls. It is revealed that one of the fans here is going to Panama City, Florida for the annual Spring Break show.

We see footage of The Nitro Girls at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Kevin Nash, Lex Luger, Disco Inferno and Miss Elizabeth show up. Lex Luger is seen wearing a cast on his left hand and arm as he announces that he has suffered an arm injury that has taken him out of action for a while, and says he is willing to forgive. Nash says he will forgive Rey Mysterio Jr. for his upset win against him last week, and asks him to come down to the stage so he can join the Wolfpac. Disco Inferno makes it known that he was the deciding vote to allow Rey into the red-and-black nWo. When Rey has yet to show up, Kevin Nash gets on his cell phone, and tells him he is offering him a spot in the Wolfpac. Rey tells Nash over the phone that he is not interested, and the Wolfpac simply walk away after that.

Kidman retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Psychosis.

David Flair and Torrie Wilson are confronted by "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson for joining the nWo and throwing his future away. He tells David that the nWo is using him, as is Torrie Wilson, and that they will throw him away when they are done. David chalks Anderson confronting him to jealousy, but Anderson tells him that WCW is done if the nWo have their way, but David tells Anderson that WCW and The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Dean Malenko) are old news. Anderson tells David that he is "one of them" as soon as he leaves, and walks out of the room.

Hollywood Hogan is seen talking to Vincent backstage. He tells Vincent that everyone is getting sick of Stevie Ray, and tells him to take him out if he gets out of line.

We see Riki Rachtman and the Nitro Party at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where we see a performance by The Nitro Girls who are there.

During the next match, pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats Bam Bam Bigelow with a victory roll.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Rey Mysterio Jr. backstage. Rey says he is representing all the smaller guys out there when Lex Luger confronts Rey, who is suddenly attacked from behind by Kevin Nash. Nash, Luger and Disco Inferno tells Rey that he should have accepted the Wolfpac shirt. Okerlund calls for medical attention.

Bam Bam Bigelow is seen attacking Raven backstage. Hak runs in and attacks both men and the cameraman with a kendo stick.

WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair's white limousine is seen parking outside of the arena, and Ric Flair exits the limo.

Stevie Ray is seen talking to Kevin Nash, Lex Luger and Disco Inferno. They all agree that Vincent is out of line, and Nash tells Stevie Ray to take Vincent out, especially after Vincent has been talking nothing but trash about him.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls in the arena.

Before the next match, Jerry Flynn calls out Ernest "The Cat" Miller, saying he is sick and tired of him being a Muhammad Ali wanna-be, and challenges him to a match so he can put his karate skills to the test and see who the real bad guy is. In the locker room, Scott Norton finds Ernest "The Cat" Miller and Sonny Onoo, and tells Miller that Jerry Flynn is calling him out. Miller and Onoo head to the ring, with the "James Brown music" playing this time around. After a minute of hesitation, Miller rushes into the ring and thinks he has gotten his hands on Jerry Flynn's ankles only to find out he has grabbed the referee.

Ernest "The Cat" Miller beats Jerry Flynn after it is suddenly declared that both men have knocked each other out and that the first man to get up is the winner. Both men get up at the same time, but as referee Mickey Jay is focused on Ernest "The Cat" Miller, Onoo knocks Flynn down, and The Cat is declared the winner. After the match, Flynn chases after Onoo, but all he can get his hands on is Onoo's jacket.

Hugh Morrus beats Perry Saturn after Jimmy Hart distracts the referee, allowing Chris Jericho to get in the ring and hit Saturn with a chain. During the match, it is announced that a hardcore triangle match between Bam Bam Bigelow, Raven and Hak has been made official for Uncensored by the WCW Executive Committee. Also, the WCW Executive Committee has signed a tag team title rematch between The Four Horsemen ("The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko) and the team of Curt Hennig and Barry Windham for Uncensored.

Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell are seen driving the WCW Spring Break-Out bus.

We see people playing Twister and holding a pizza eating contest at the Nitro Party at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit beats Bret "The Hit Man" Hart by disqualification. During the match, Curt Hennig and Barry Windham attack Benoit with the tag team titles outside of the ring as Bret has referee Charles Robinson distracted. Bret has Benoit in the Sharpshooter, and refuses to break it after Benoit grabs for the bottom rope. After the match, Bret shoves Charles Robinson, then Dean Malenko goes after Hennig and Windham only for Windham to choke Malenko from behind with a leather belt as Hart continues to beat up Benoit.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls in the arena.

Disco Inferno, Kevin Nash, Vincent, Stevie Ray, Horace Hogan and Hollywood Hogan show up. Hogan says that since he is WCW World Heavyweight Champion, everyone should be ready for the big announcement tonight, as David Flair is the newest nWo member and made the right decision. After the beating that he has given "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair at SuperBrawl IX, he was surprised to see Ric Flair in the building again, and that the only reason he hasn't been seen in the ring yet is because he is afraid of him and wants to leave without getting beat up, and says that he will not beat Flair up anymore he has already beaten him. As Hogan tells Flair to get in the ring and announce his retirement, Vincent and Stevie Ray talk trash to each other and eventually start brawling. Nash, Disco and Horace have to hold both men back, with Vincent being carried to the back by Horace. Hogan says that Flair will announcement his retirement and go to bed, and the world will be safe for he is WCW World Heavyweight Champion and Nash laid all the plans out.

Konnan's newest music video is replayed.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Flair says he has been home for two weeks, and he has had to listen to "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson say he wants to beat up his son David Flair, and walk around North Carolina hearing everyone ask why and how David Flair would join the New World Order. Flair admits he doesn't understand it, either, and says it is time to put everything in perspective, because 20 years ago, he met a blonde one night, walked out the door with her and had her change his life for a long time. When he woke up the next morning, he had to live with the consequences, and says that woman is waiting for him to come home right now. He then says that for the next 28 days, he is still the president of WCW, and tells Eric Bischoff that he is in his pocket before saying that Hollywood Hogan is the issue. At Uncensored, he is having a cage built 15 feet high with no doors and surrounded by barbed wire at the top, and that tradition will ride again when they both wrestle in that cage for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. He says it will be like 1985 again, and that he and Hogan will sweat and pay the price as they give America what they have not had in 10 years. Flair says that he is sure as Michael Jordan is "the man at Chapel Hill" that he will win the World title, and that when all is said and done, they won't want to "be like Mike," they'll want to be like Ric Flair.

3-Time X-Games stunt bike champion Dave Mirra is seen in the front row.

The stipulations for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship match that have just been added can only be read and heard about at WCW.com.

Goldberg and Rick Steiner beat Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell. During the match, Scott Steiner exposes a top turnbuckle as Buff Bagwell is the legal man on his team, and when he tags in, he rams Rick Steiner into the exposed turnbuckle bolt a few times. Nevertheless, the match continues, and Goldberg is able to use that exposed bolt against Buff Bagwell before hitting him with a Spear. Scott Steiner stops the Jackhammer, but Goldberg is able to keep Scott Steiner at bay so Rick Steiner can hit the top rope bulldog on Buff Bagwell to win the match for his team.
