Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for January 27, 1997

Eric Bischoff and The Outsiders (Scott Hall and Kevin Nash) are on commentary at the beginning of the show, protected by event staff. Eric Bischoff calls out Randy Anderson, who shows up at the commentary table, so he can confront him for his actions at Souled Out. Anderson says that he was given a ticket to the show as a gift from a WCW promoter, and Eric Bischoff tells him he has violated company policy. He then terminates Randy Anderson as a referee as The Outsiders mock him and Bischoff makes fun of his personal problems. Bischoff then wants The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) at the table, and commands them to give the WCW World Tag Team Championships back to The Outsiders, giving them the choice of either leaving the belts there or be in breach of contract. The Steiners reluctantly leave the belts there, having been stripped of the titles by Eric Bischoff, and Rick Steiner slams his belt onto the ground, much to the anger of Bischoff. Bischoff tells them not to bother picking up their paychecks for the next six months, as he will fine them for their actions.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) beat The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian). During the match, Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) and Sister Sherri are seen watching the match in the crowd.

Tony Schiavone and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko are back on commentary after the opening match.

The Giant beats Road Block. After the match, he tells the crowd that he is very much alive, and tells "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan that he knows he is in the building, and tells him he wants the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, as what doesn't kill him pisses him off more. He wants another shot at the World title tonight, and tells Hogan to get in the ring with him if he has any guts, as he plans on leaving the building WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

Jeff Jarrett beats Eddie Guerrero by disqualification after Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Debra McMichael show up and Mongo hits Jarrett in the back with his steel Halliburton briefcase as Debra tells him to hit Eddie with it. During the match, Tony Schiavone say that he and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko have a surprise in store for the New World Order, and that they will unveil it in a few moments.

For the first time ever on Nitro, the video footage of "Rowdy" Roddy Pipper beating "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan at Starrcade 1996 is finally shown. Suddenly, the video cuts off before the entire count on Piper, and sabotage is immediately suspected. It is then revealed that Eric Bischoff made his way to the production truck and grabbed the tape, and Bischoff shows up shortly afterwards to warn Tony Schiavone and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko - as well as anyone else in the company daring enough - "not to pull a stunt like this ever again" as he tears up the tape.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Harlem Heat vs. Public Enemy! Lex Luger vs. La Parka! Glacier!

The Ultimate Dragon beats the debuting Billy Pearl.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Debra McMichael, Woman). He says he can't blame Benoit and Woman for being in love with one another, and tells Debra she'll have to do as Mongo show up as the Horsemen have to co-exist. Anderson tells Jeff Jarrett that Mongo sent him a message in universal form, and that he is not a Horseman, then commends Benoit for tearing up The Taskmaster and taking a page out of the Horsemen of the 1980s. Mongo says he drove a nail into Jarrett's coffin with his briefcase, while Debra says she's been pulling for Benoit to be a Horseman 100%. Benoit told The Taskmaster that it was his way or the hard way, and that he beat him the hard way before telling him it's time for him to let go as he's beaten him mentally, physically and spiritually and taken all that he can from him. Tonight, he plans to head down to the ring without anyone backing him to prove another point. Woman simply says she's a very happy woman right now. Debra says it's time to leave, ending the interview.

Lex Luger beats Ron Powers with the Torture Rack. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Luger after the match, and says that the New World Order has a big problem in the form of The Giant, and that it's great to watch for once instead of experiencing it. He's made his mistakes, but says WCW "need to open that door up" and trust somebody, and says that he's got The Giant's back.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

The Four Horsemen ("The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Steve "Mongo" McMichael) beat The Amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet) when Ouellet grabs one of the Quebecois-Canadian flags - and distracts the ref - allowing Mongo to hit Rougeau in the back with the steel Halliburton briefcase.

Lee Marshall calls from Memphis, Tennessee - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) beat The Extreme (Devon Storm and Ace Darling).

The Taskmaster beats Joe Gomez after throwing a steel chair into Gomez' back outside of the ring.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan shows up with Eric Bischoff and Miss Elizabeth, but Miss Elizabeth is quickly sent back to the backstage area and security surrounds the ring. Bischoff puts Hogan on a pedestal over his handling of The Giant at Souled Out. Hogan says that everyone who gets in the ring with him aren't even in the same league as him, even as he says that plans a plan of attack on everyone he faces and says that The Giant told him he is the greatest and that he will rule the New World Order forever. Hogan then says that The Giant is a has-been like "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and anyone who wants to take him on. As for The Giant's challenge tonight, he accepts "for all the nWo-ites" and says he will beat up The Giant again as Sting and "Macho Man" Randy Savage are spotted in the crowd. Bischoff says that he has no chance in WCW, but if he wants the nWo deal, it's on the table. Hogan says that Savage may have seen the light and that he may be joining the New World Order, too. Hogan says he is going to get in shape and give a posing routine that will give everyone goosebumps from head to toe and leave them awake all night long thinking about how beautiful Hollywood is, and that he would face The Giant "nine days a week" as he is "easy pickin's."

Dean Malenko beats Jerry Flynn with the Texas Cloverleaf after ducking an enziguri.

A policeman hands Tony Schiavone a note from the offices of World Championship Wrestling. It is a telegram from the WCW executive committee. It states that under the recent conduct on the part of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, in careful review of the WCW rights under Hogan's current contract, and unanimous approval by the WCW Championship Committee, it has been decided that "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan must defend the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at SuperBrawl on February 23 in San Francisco, California. Furthermore, it has also been unanimously decided that this title opportunity be awarded to "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. A copy of the telegram has been sent to every member of the Championship Committee as well as Ted Turner. The crowd erupts with excitement to the news that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has a second match against Hogan at SuperBrawl for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Hugh Morrus beats "The Crippler" Chris Benoit with help from The Taskmaster. During the match, a woman in black climbs over the guardrail and harasses Woman, distracting the referee, which allows The Taskmaster to hit Benoit from behindwith a wooden chair and help Hugh Morrus to the win. We then find out that this woman is an ally of The Taskmaster, who refuses to elaborate on their relationship. Jimmy Hart says this smells like trouble after what is happening in The Four Horsemen and feels like he is watching a soap opera. Finally, the woman says she could not stand by any longer, but when The Taskmaster was hit over the head with a chair, that was it. She tells him that ten years ago, Taskmaster made a huge mistake, but tells him "I could never do you like that." The woman refuses to elaborate any further, and tells Jimmy Hart not to put her name in the same category as Woman and Debra McMichael. She says Woman walks around WCW looking like "a fugitive from a fat farm," and calls Debra "a bleach-blonde bimbo" who wears long dresses because she's got legs like a chicken. She tells Jimmy Hart he is the best manager today, but he can't give The Taskmaster what she can give him: comfort. The threesome heads up the entrance ramp and back to the backstage area.

The WCW Power Plant has been given rave reviews by LIFE Magazine and ABC's Good Morning America, and it will help you reach your potential, train your body, work on your moves, and motivate you to be your best. Call (404) 351-4959 to set up a try-out!

Before the next match, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan says that nobody tells the New World Order what to do, and that he will fire directors one after the other. He plans to beat The Giant's brains in tonight, and that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper might as well show up with The Giant so that he can beat him at the same time and get him over with.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan vs. The Giant quickly turns into an opportunity for THe New World Order to attack The Giant yet again. As The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) attack The Giant, Lex Luger shows up and stands with The Giant, and they stare The Outsiders down.

Before the first match, it is announced that Savio Vega turned on Ahmed Johnson on Saturday afternoon at Madison Square Garden in a tag team match against The Nation of Domination.

He says that the WWF Championship is no longer a dream and is instead a reality. He knows that he and Sycho Sid have a very strange relationship, but Sid gave him a shot and on Thursday Raw Thursday on February 13th, he returns the favor but plans to retain the title. He says that The Undertaker, Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Vader are four of the best in the WWF, and that he has heard about the attitudes of the WWF Superstars as of late. He knows Hart isn't happy with him, that Austin isn't happy with anybody, that The Undertaker is a monster one shouldn't wake up and that Vader is a wrecking machine. He says that the WWF Championship brings out the best and worse in everybody, but being bad is what is going to help him keep the championship. Vince then brings out Bret Hart, who tells Shawn to do whatever he has to do to walk out with the WWF Championship at WrestleMania, as after the Final Four match, he'll be coming straight back for the title and he'll be wanting him at 100%. Vince asks Bret if he is overlooking Sycho Sid, but he's more focused on Shawn and has no doubt that he will be stepping in the ring with him if he keeps the WWF Championship. Vince then brings out The Undertaker, and tells Bret that he may have his respect after last year's Royal Rumble, but he's tired of Hart being screwed out of the WWF Championship. He then tells Hart to take a look at his history, as he nearly had it at last year's Royal Rumble. He's sat back and let everyone have their own way, but it's time for the WWF Championship to come back to the dark side, as it is time to stop being the hunted and start being the hunter. He tells Shawn that his title and his body will belong to him at WrestleMania. Vince then brings out "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who brings out Jim Ross with a microphone. He says he may be the toughest S.O.B., but he recognizes an ambush when he sees it, and calls everyone except for Vince crybabies. He says he's waiting until the Final Four match, and says he will get his on February 16th. Austin retreats to the back, and has a few choice words with Vader and Uaul Bearer, who were seen behind him moments ago, on the way there.

Vince's Got A Shotgun - Shotgun Saturday Night recap for January 25, 1997

Tonight's show takes place in Webster Hall in New York City. Sunny is seen dancing on the stage as "The King of Harts" Owen Hart guests on commentary for the next match. Mankind tries to get a very close look at two more dancers to the point that he scares them into a corner. Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up and punches Mankind, and this automatically starts a match.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart beats Mankind by disqualification after Owen Hart attacks Bret as he has Mankind in the Sharpshooter. During the match, Todd Pettengill interviews a fan - whom he calls "Princess Leia" - about her dress. After the match, Bret and Owen go at it, first in the ring, then at ringside and into the back. Paul Bearer says he knew Mankind would be off his game tonight tonight due to the liquor and the women, and has to pual Mankind away from the dancers.

Vega punches Rocky and stomps him, then gives the raised fist salute right back to them. Later, Todd Pettengill tries to interview Faarooq, but is told to talk to Crush, who tells Todd to get out of his face. After the match, Savio Vega uncharacteristically kicks The Rock in the back of the right leg after the match and continues to work on it, then Savio Vega calls Crush and Faarooq into the ring so that Faarooq can whip Rocky, officially turning heel in the process. Referees run in to restore order, and after Vega tosses Rocky out of the ring, Vega raises his fist along with Faarooq and Crush, officially making him a member of The Nation of Domination.

Sid then hits Crush in the back with the chair, then keeps The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, Crush, Vega) at bay to end the show.

nWo Souled Out 1997 - The Results

The show begins with a fleet of garbage trucks flying nWo flags - and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan's limousine - being escorted to the arena by the local police force as the New World Order have the time of their lives on the way there.

A live band plays in the beginning of the event. Eric Bischoff introduces "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall), who says that the WCW as we know it doesn't exist tonight and that the show is all about the New World Order. Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase do commentary, the wrestling ring is all black with nWo logos all over it, the voice of the beginning and end of the nWo announcements introduces all of the competitors (and makes fun of everyone from WCW while putting the nWo members on a pedestal) and Nick Patrick referees all of the matches, much to the advantage of the New World Order. Also, only the nWo members come out to music, while the WCW members come out to silence.

Masahiro Chono beast Chris Jericho after putting Jericho through a table, which referee Nick Patrick allows. During the match, numerous members of WCW - including Sister Sherri, Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray), The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian), "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Debra McMichael, The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs) and WCW referee Randy Anderson - show up in the crowd dressed in all black.

We got a look at women on motorcycles next to the entrance ramp that are competing to be "Miss nWo," as well as some women who have written in to the New World Order. The women on the motorcycles are then interviewed by Jeff Katz, who asks them some rather suggestive questions.

Big Bubba beats Hugh Morrus by count-out in a Mexican Death Match after referee Nick Patrick resets the ten-count as Bubba is knocked down, allows Bubba to run Hugh Morrus over with a motorcyle, and gives Hugh Morrus a fast count-out on the entrance ramp. The women on the motorcycles are interviewed by Jeff Katz again after the match.

Despite rampant rulebreaking by Michael Wallstreet (and allowed by referee Nick Patrick), Jeff Jarrett beats Michael Wallstreet. During the match, Debra McMichael tries to coax Steve "Mongo" McMichael into helping Jeff Jarrett. McMichael hits Wallstreet with his steel Halliburton briefcase as Michael Wallstreet has Jarrett in an abdominal stretch and forces Nick Patrick to count to three at normal speed. Jeff Katz interviews the "senior division" of the Miss nWo competition.

Before the next match, it is revealed that Buff Bagwell has gotten so buff that he has trouble getting his arms out of his jacket.

Buff Bagwell beats Scotty Riggs with his new finisher, the "Buff Blockbuster" - a blockbuster from the top rope. Jeff Katz interviews more "Miss nWo" competitors after the match. The mystery voice that announces all of the wrestlers' introductions calls Riggs a loser a few times during the match.

Scott Norton beats Diamond Dallas Page. During the match, the real Sting is seen in the crowd. The mystery voice also calls Page a loser much like it did Riggs. The rest of the New World Order then show up to give Page another chance to join the New World Order, saying they like his moves and style and they want him in the nWo. DDP accepts, then hits Norton with the Diamond Cutter before fighting off everyone else before escaping through the crowd and tearing the nWo shirt in half. Buff Bagwell tells DDP he has no idea what he has done and that he will never be a member of the nWo as far as he is concerned, and that this is his last shot. Nick Patrick then speaks into the camera to announce that Scott Norton has won by count-out. Jeff Katz interviews some more "Miss nWo" competitors.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) beat The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) to win the WCW World Tag Team Championships after referee Nick Patrick is knocked down and WCW referee Randy Anderson shows up to make the count, much to the chagrin of Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase.

Eddie Guerrero retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship that he has never worn around his waist against Syxx in a Ladder Match and brings the United States Heavyweight Championship back to WCW.

Becky Pate is crowned "Miss nWo."

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan is accompanied by Dallas Cowboys members Nate Newton, George Teague and Ray Donaldson on the way to the ring before the main event.

The Giant vs. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan ends with referee Nick Patrick refuses to give The Giant the win and the New World Order rushing into the ring to fight The Giant. Eric Bischoff hands Hogan a guitar, and Hogan smashes it into The Giant's back, bringing him down. After hitting him again with a wooden chair, the words "nWo 4 Life" are spray painted on The Giant's back.

Clash of the Champions XXXIV - The Recap

Mike Tenay guests on commentary for the next match.

Scotty Riggs beats Mike Enos.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Four Horsemen ("The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Woman, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Debra McMichael). Benoit says that the Horsemen will dominate in 1997, and he hopes that The Taskmaster is watching as he is looking into his fate as he has total control of it and can take away whatever he has whenever he pleases. If this is a chess game and he made it personal, it is irrelevant as he has beaten The Taskmaster physically, mentally and spiritualy as he is a wolvering who has tasted blood, and when he doesn't get what he wants, he cripples. Benoit says he has a fragile mind, and he will take away everything The Taskmaster has and save his career for last. Anderson says that The Taskmaster has had his heart ripped out of his chest by Benoit and that tonight, he will see how they operate. All he asks Benoit to finish off the rest of the carcass. Mongo says that winning isn't everything, it's the only thing, and tells The Taskmaster it's Horsemen time. Debra brags about her good looks and how she is called "The Queen of WCW" before making fun of Woman's look, saying they call her "The Queen of Sheba" as she's been dead for 2,000 years and looks it.

Chris Jericho, Super Calo and Chavo Guerrero, Jr. beat La Parka, Mr. J.L. and Konnan. (Chris Jericho replaced Juventud Guerrera in the match after Guerrera suffered an injury.)

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) beat Joe Gomez and The Renegade.

Lee Marshall calls from Des Moines, Iowa - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

Masahiro Chono beats Alex Wright, thanks to slow counts from nWo referee Nick Patrick whenever Wright goes for a pinfall which angers Wright to the point that he kicks Nick Patrick in the knee. Wright is almost disqualified, but Alex Wright misses a top rope cross body and Chono hits .

Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) advertise the Lex Luger T-Shirt, only $22 plus $5.95 shipping and handling.

Eddie Guerrero beats Scott Norton after a very reluctant three-count from nWo referee Nick Patrick. After Scott Norton shoulder tackles Eddie into Nick Patrick and knocks him down, Diamond Dallas Page hits a Diamond Cutter on Norton. Eddie Guerrero then hits the flog splash from the top rope for the win. Before the match, Eddie Guerrero slaps nWo referee Nick Patrick's butt, and Patrick threatens to disqualify him.

The Giant tells "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan that nothing will hold him back at Souled Out, and that he was never his friend and instead the person he was afraid of most when he was part of the New World Order. The Giant says he has smartened up and seen the light since, and tells Hogan that his future will be dim after Souled Out after he blows it out like a lit match.

After the match, Benoit pulls out another wooden chair from underneath the ring and smashes it into The Taskmaster's head.

The WCW "Where The Big Boys Play" T-shirt is only $19.95 plus $5.95 shipping and handling.

Before the next match, The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) are seen on the video screen near the stage, telling The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) that if The amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet) don't take care of them tonight, they'll do it Saturday at Souled Out. Kevin Nash then entertains the idea of The Outsiders taking care of The Steiners right now.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) beat The Amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet) after Rougeau misses Scott Steiner with the Quebec flag.

Lex Luger beats Scott Hall by disqualification after Luger is attacked by Kevin Nash and Syxx. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) charge into the ring after the match and fight Hall and Nash while Lex Luger fights Syxx. Hall, Nash and Syxx are forced to retreat, but that does not last as they come back to the ring for more as the show ends.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for January 20, 1997

The show starts with "Macho Man" Randy Savage - who has not been seen since Halloween Havoc - appearing out of the crowd and sitting in a steel chair in the center of the ring, much to the surprise of everyone, including commentary. Unlike previous appearances, he is wearing all black but is not part of the New World Order. Savage says he has been blackballed, and that he will not leave tonight until he talks to someone "with major stroke." He has no plans for the next two hours, and he plans to stay in the ring all night. He tells Eric Bischoff to kiss his ass before he sits in the chair and waits. Chavo Guerrero, Jr. heads to the ring for the opening bout against Maxx, but is confused by the sight of Savage in the ring. Savage refuses to leave the ring as Chavo tries to reason with him, but as Savage adamantly refuses to budge, Chavo gets irritated with him and this leads to a confrontation between Chavo and Savage where Savage knocks Chavo out and tosses him out of the ring to the delight of the crowd. Maxx shows up as soon as Savage sits back down, and tries to reason with Savage, saying that Chavo is his payday. Savage stands up and beats up Maxx, and this time he teases using the steel chair as a weapon only to sit back down. Maxx crawls out of the ring, then the referee tells him to leave only to be beaten up and tossed out as well. Head of Security Doug Dillinger shows up and tries to reason with Savage, but he gets beat up, too. "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright shows up and tries to reason with him, but he gets knocked down as well. At this point, Savage brandishes the steel chair as a weapon and gets ready to strike. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) and The Amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet) show up ready to get Savage out of there, then Sting - the real Sting - is seen rappelling from the rafters to the commentary table. Sting walks to the ring and pulls out his bat, and referee Randy Anderson gets out of his way as he approaches the ring and points his bat at Savage. Sting then enters the ring, and whacks the bat on Savage's chair a few times as he circles him. He then points the bat at Savage's neck, which causes Savage to stand up and push his steel chair away. Sting then pushes Savage away with the bat, and it is evident that Sting is ready for him to strike back. He then hands Savage his bat and turns his back on him. Savage hands Sting his bat back, refusing to attack him. Sting then leaves, and Savage joins him, and they both leave through the crowd. At this point, Savage's loyalties are questioned as well as Sting's by commentary.

Chris Jericho beats "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright after a series of rolling pinfalls from both men.

Scotty Riggs beats "Sting" by disqualification after Marcus Bagwell - now known as "Buff Bagwell" - shows up and goes after Riggs as his fellow New World Order comrades storm the ring while Riggs escapes into the crowd. During the match, it is announced that the real Sting and "Macho Man" Randy Savage have both left the arena. After the match, the New World Order surround Dave Penzer, forcing him to state that "Sting" has won by count-out.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Steve "Mongo" McMichael and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit in six-man tag team action! Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) vs. Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock)!

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair interviews Bob Probert of the Chicago Blackhwaks. While he's in Buffalo, New York tonight, he tells The New World Order to keep their heads up as he'll be stylin' and profilin' with Ric Flair the next time they're in town.

Jeff Jarrett and Eddie Guerrero vs. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Steve "Mongo" McMichael ends with Debra McMichael placing her Miss Illinois sash on Anderson to halt the match as Anderson has Jarret in the Boston Crab. Before the end of the match, Eddie Guerrero runs to the back after Syxx shows up on top of a ladder again; however, Syxx's appearance is never caught by the camera crew.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, who shows up as "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Debra McMichael leave the ring and Woman and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit show up from the back. Flair says he is on the mend and putting his body back together so he can be "a real live fighting Horseman," but as he looks at the rest of the Horsemen every week, he admits that the Horsemen are not the unit they have been in the past. When he was with the old game, he knew that they took care of business before they focused on the women, but the new crew has it switched around. Anderson says this is a man's game in the world of professional sports, and says being a Horsemen is a career pinnacle to be respected and cherished. Anderson states that as long as he and Flair are part of the Horsemen, The Four Horsemen will endure. Mongo tells the crowd that he has finally come home, and says he is proud to be a Horseman. Debra says she knows what it takes to be a winner, and says that what happened to Jarrett tonight is not what winners do. Benoit tells Mongo that he is a winner when it comes to football, and that Debra when it comes to beauty pageants, but they are standing with four other winners in pro wrestling, and says that this is pro wrestling and that everything should be kept in perspective. Mongo tells Benoit they had Jarrett down and out, unlike the last two times Benoit wrestled him. Debra says that Woman is "a big-hearted lady with hips to match."

The Ultimate Dragon retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Dean Malenko.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

"Lord" Steven Regal beats Jacques Rougeau by disqualification to retain the WCW World Television Championship after Col. Robert Parker tries to interfere only for it to backfire miserably after Regal gives him what for.

Lee Marshall calls form Milwaukee, Wisconsin - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit attacks The Taskmaster before the next match can take place, and the battle immediately makes it way into the stands - and the concourse, where the two men fight in the men's room yet again. Even Doug Dillinger can't stop either man as the brawl goes back out of the bathroom and back into the ring as both men throw beer from the crowd at each other. After the beer brouhaha, the match begins.

The Taskmaster beats "The Crippler" Chris Benoit after Jimmy Hart gives The Taskmaster the ring bell to counter Benoit's diving headbutt as Woman distracts the referee.

Lex Luger beats Stevie Ray with the Torture Rack, but it becomes evident that Stevie Ray never submitted, and Stevie Ray chases after Nick Patrick after the match. Hogan rips his shirt and then poses for the crowd for a few seconds, then says the New World Order came into Chicago, Illinois like a Boeing 747. He boasts that he will bust The Giant up really badly at Souled Out, and if The Giant begs for mercy, he will get no quarter. As Hogan talks further about The Giant, The Giant shows up only to be stopped by security. The Giant eventually overpowers them, however, and the show ends with The Giant rushing into the ring.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for January 20, 1997

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up unannounced with something to say to Vince McMahon. He says that when he came back to the WWF, Vince promised him an opportunity to fight for the WWF Championship. Vince put him in the ring with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and said that if he could beat Austin, he would be #1 contender. Hart, however, finds it convenient that Shawn is at ringside on commentary as he faces Sycho Sid and doesn't think it's a coincidence that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels was there costing him the WWF Championship and forcing him to partake in the Royal Rumble match to get his title shot there. Hart says he is the true winner of the Royal Rumble match and that he should be the one getting a shot at the WWF Championship. Instead, he has been screwed by Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, the WWF and Vince McMahon. As Vince McMahon paces back and forth, Bret realizes he won't get an opportunity at the WWF Championship, and quits. Hart drops the microphone, and as Vince tells Bret not to do this, Bret leaves through the crowd. Suddenly, Steve Austin shows up, and tells Bret Hart he can belly-ache and complain with the best of them and that all he has done is cry since he returned, and that when the going gets tough, the Harts get going back home. He tells Bret Hart to go back to Canada as the only person he can beat is his own father in the Hart Dungeon. Austin counters Bret Hart saying he's been jerked around by the WWF by saying that he's been jerked around for seven years, and that he's found out through WWF President Gorilla Monsoon that Sycho Sid is out with a concussion and that he won't be able to compete. Austin says Sid has a yellow streak down his back, while Monsoon has a bunch of bananas and that he knows where Monsoon can stick each and every one of them. He wants a match with The Undertaker, as he tossed him over the top rope at the end of the Royal Rumble match last night and he'll do it again tonight. Vince McMahon heads to the back.

It is announced that Royal Rumble had a record crowd of 60,525 people in attendance last night.

The encore for Royal Rumble is tomorrow night at 8 PM Eastern, 7 PM Central.

Owen Hart and The British Bulldog beat Doug Furnas and Phillip LaFon. During the match, it is announced that The Undertaker has been fined his entire Royal Rumble purse for choke slamming a WWF official last night. Also, when it is announced that back-to-back episodes of La Femme Nikita will air after Raw, Jim Ross brings up the idea of "putting Nikita in the ring with Robin Hood" and saying that WWF doesn't "bait and switch" their viewers in a shot at World Championship Wrestling for the end of last week's Nitro, when TNT showed the main event during commercial breaks as the season premiere of The New Adventures of Robin Hood aired.

Faarooq beats Bart Gunn after Bart Gunn attacks J.C. Ice and Wolfie D of the Nation of Domination for placing Faarooq's foot on the rope during a pinfall attempt, which leads to Faarooq hitting Bart Gunn from the apron to the outside before finishing him with the Dominator. Vince McMahon and WWF President Gorilla Monsoon show up after the match.

Vince McMahon and WWF President Gorilla Monsoon are in the ring. Monsoon admits a real travesty occurred in the Royal Rumble match, and while the referee's decision is final, he has created a four-man no-disqualification elimination match, with the winner facing the WWF Champion at WrestleMania 13. The four participants are three men illegally eliminated by "Stone Cold" Steve Autsin: The Undertaker, Vader, and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart (assuming he accepts Monsoon's invitation) as well as Austin himself. Austin shows up, grabs the microphone, and tells Monsoon he can't have a four-way match because Hart walked out. He also asks Monsoon if WWF has the "instant replay rule," before telling Monsoon he calls himself "the Gorilla" when he "hee-haws his way out like a jackass." Austin then tells Monsoon he'll "toss [his] carcass around the arena" after he wins the four-way match. Vince confronts Austin when Austin gets in Monsoon's face, and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows back up through the crowd. Hart gets in the ring, grabs the microphone, tells Monsoon he accepts and says that they don't have to wait until February because he and Austin can get it on right now, which they do. Officials have to break Hart and Austin up as they brawl in the aisle. Hart is escorted to the back after the commercial break while Austin stays in the ring to square off against The Undertaker. Before the match, however, Hart and Taker start brawling, and when Hart is escorted to the back, Austin tries to attack 'Taker from behind only for 'Taker to fire back, starting their main event match early.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. The Undertaker ends with Vader, who is now being managed by Paul Bearer, getting into the ring only to be choke slammed by The Undertaker. During the match, Jerry "The King" Lawler tries to get Austin's attention by telling him to work on The Undertaker's broken ribs. Also, Vader and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart are both seen backstage being held by officials before another brawl can take place. Vader gets choke slammed, then Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up and evens the numbers with 'Taker and Hart fighting off Austin and Vader as officials rush to the ring to separate all four men. Austin retreats, but Hart leaves the ring to fight Austin yet again as 'Taker and Vader continue to fight inside the ring.

Goldust uses the IC title as a weapon while the referee still isn't looking, but when he goes for the pinfall, Mr. Hughes drags Helmsley out of the ring. During the match, it is announced that George and Adam, the duo most infamous for their appearances in the vignettes for the event leading up tonight, have been escorted out of the arena by security while making their way down for the interview with "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. Also, Todd Pettengill interviews country music singer Colin Ray, who is glad that tonight's event is in San Antonio and not on the East Coast.

Ahmed Johnson beats Faarooq by disqualification when Faarooq sends the rest of The Nation of Domination after him to no avail. During the match, Todd Pettengill interviews fan Summer Bishop from Minnesota, who has saved her babysitting money and followed "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels everywhere he's went to be here tonight. During the match, Paul Bearer shows up, and The Undertaker gets a few shots on him. Paul Bearer responds by pulling Vader out of the way of an attack outisde of the ring, causing Undertaker to fall rib-first on the security rail, then hitting 'Taker with his urn from the apron. The Undertaker choke slams the referee in response to his loss. He then tells Vince McMahon that there is a storm heading towards the World Wrestling Federation, and its name is The Undertaker.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin says he's not talking to anybody until he tosses "29 pieces of trash" over the top rope and advances to WrestleMania to face the WWF Champion. Outside of the arena, The British Bulldog says he hopes to make even more Royal Rumble history by winning it all this time around.

Perro Aguayo Sr., El Canek and Hector Garza beat Fuerza Guerrera, Heavy Metal and Jerry Estrada.

It is announced that the attendance for tonight's event is 60,477 - the largest in Royal Rumble history.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin wins the 1997 Royal Rumble, last eliminating Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, having eliminated ten men and matching Hulk Hogan's record for most eliminations in one match in the process. This is also despite being eliminated, but his elimination at the hands of Bret Hart was not confirmed by either of the referees. A livid Bret Hart argues with the referees over Austin's Royal Rumble victory, taking his anger out on both them and Vince McMahon.

During the match:

Problems with the countdown clock occur at the start of the match. They are resolved after "Stone Cold" Steve Austin eliminates Phineas I. Godwinn.

Ahmed Johnson eliminates himself to chase after Faarooq when he attempts to head to the ring.

More AAA joins in on the Royal Rumble action in the form of Pierroth, Mil Mascaras, Cibernetico and Latin Lover. Mascaras unintentionally eliminates himself after leaping off the top rope and going after Pierroth after he eliminates him.

Todd Pettengill interviews Texas wrestling legend Terry Funk in the ring. Funk says he is home, and that his is his state and his town and where he wants to be. He says that he is ready to rumble, and wants to know what number he will be in the ring. He says he wants to start the Royal Rumble as well as end it, and wants to rumble with Todd Pettengill. Pettengill declines, then Terry Funk wants to know if a person wants to rumble with him, saying there is not a person in WWF or WCW (whom he calls "snake sucking scumbags") wants to take him on. He wants to know where Vince McMahon is and calls him a "Yankee bastard," then wants to rumble with Pettengill again, saying his mother is a whore. He also wants to know where Jim Ross is, calling him "an Okie asshole." All of a sudden, he notices "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and calls him out, heading to the commentary table briefly before heading to the ring. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews the Horsemen after the match, and Benoit says this will be settled here and now tonight. He tells Mongo that if he wants to continue being a Horsemen, then he should quit fumbling the ball. He says that the Horsemen are playing less like a pro team lately, and says that he was hand-picked by Anderson while Mongo joined due to an unfortunate circumstance. Benoit finally calls out Debra on her bad-mouthing Woman, saying Woman is 100% woman from head to toe - no plastic, no wax, and zero silicone. Mongo apologizes for smacking him with the briefcase, and tells him not to fault him for it as he owns up to it. Benoit then wants to know where Flair is. Anderson says he doesn't want to step on any toes until he gets this figured out, but for now, they need to resolve their differences. Benoit says he will not stand for or tolerate what has happened the last few weeks, and tells Mongo to shape up or ship out. Debra says she would never gossip about Benoit or Woman as she loves them very much. Mongo finally confronts Benoit, telling him to jump if he feels so froggy. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Steiner Brothers after the match, and Scott says that The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) made a big mistake for thinking he's still hurt and for inviting them to Souled Out. He plans to make a believer out of Nash by sticking his fist down his throat and pulling his goozle out.

It is announced that the show will go off the air in six minutes for the series premiere of The New Adventures Of Robin Hood, and airs during the commercial breaks. In case the show ends, there will be a replay and explanation of how the match ended.

Live at Park Place in San Antonio, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels says nobody can get as nasty and low-down as he can, and that he will kick Sycho Sid in the teeth. He plans to take the WWF Championship back and kick Sid's teeth so far down his throat he'll see them in his next stool sample. Vince's Got A Shotgun - Shotgun Saturday Night recap for January 11, 1997

The Honky Tonk Man says that when he hits New York City, he hangs out with the stars at the St. Regis Hotel, where he sees some of the best haircuts in the world as he waits to get his shoes shined.

Sable and "Wildman" Marc Mero come out of a limo in Times Square to enter the All-Star Cafe, the ultimate sports-themed restaurant in New York City.

Todd Pettengill reports that The Sisters of Love (Sister Angelica and Mother Smucker) have been arrested by undercover cops for solicitation in front of the Disney Store in Times Square, and have been incarcerated. We learn that they have been incarcerated as we see footage from earlier today where The Sisters of Love are arrested.

"Diesel" beats "Wildman" Marc Mero. Early in the match, Sable smashes a cake on a dining table into "Diesel's" face early in the match when he approaches her. During the match, Todd Pettengill tries to interview Sable about the whole thing, and Sable says she did not like what "Diesel" was doing and that he takes the cake. Some time after that, "Razor Ramon" shows up and attacks Mero, and Rocky Maivia shows up and chases "Razor" to the back. Officials have to keep Rocky from chasing "Razor" further. After the break, Todd Pettengill interviews The Honky Tonk Man as the match continues. Honky says he has a tune for her later on. Near the end of the match, The Honky Tonk Man shows up at ringside and harasses Sable, and Marc Mero comes after Honky only to be attacked from behind by "Diesel." This allows "Diesel" to hit the Jackknife Power Bomb for the win. After the match, an angry Mero blames Sable for the loss and leaves her alone in the ring. The Honky Tonk Man shows up again and gets in the ring with Sable, but Rocky Maivia returns and gets in there, too. He stares a hole through Honky, causing him to leave the ring. Mero shows up and confronts Rocky for helping Sable to the ring, and this starts a brouhaha between Rocky and Mero that referees have to break up. Mero runs out of the ring and to the back along with Sable.

We see the police mugshot of The Sister of Love (Sister Angelica and Mother Smucker), and it is announced that they will not be here tonight.

The WWF is coming soon to Las Vegas, Nevada; El Paso, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; Beaumont, Texas; Lafayette, Louisiana; Dallas, TX; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Hershey, Pennsylvania and New York City, New York!

We see Sunny's home sex video. She is seen lying on her bed in her pajamas with a Tickle Me Elmo doll as she reveals that the man in her life is a man in an Elmo suit with a G-string on, whom she calls Tickle Me Elmo's bigger, big, strong, bad older brother "Fondle Me Elmo." Sunny takes Fondle Me Elmo's G-string off, then turns the lights off and proceeds to have sex with Elmo. Afterwards, Elmo apologizes for breaking Sunny's trapeze, and Sunny responds that The Energizer Bunny has nothing on him. Fondle Me Elmo then realizes he cannot find his pants or his manhood.

Todd Pettengill is seen with The Honky Tonk Man.

Todd Pettengill introduces The Honky Tonk Man, and Todd Pettengill sings about Honky finding a protege. Honky then sings about himself, then a fan joins in.

Rocky Maivia beats "Razor Ramon." During the match, The Honky Tonk Man attacks Rocky Maivia outside of the ring as the referee is dealing with "Razor," but Rocky is still able to hit the shoulder breaker for the win.

Outside in Times Square, Todd Pettengill gives a tour of a homeless person's box home, and when he looks inside, he finds none other than Nikolai Volkoff.

Before the next match, it is announced that Goldust is pregnant according to Vanity Fair, and that he will give birth to the baby at nearby Lenox Hill Hospital next week on Shotgun Saturday Night. (The segment fails to make it to air, however.)

Todd Pettengill advertises that next week, Shotgun Saturday Night will take place at Denim & Diamonds in San Antonio, Texas.

Time runs out before Doug Furnas and Philip LaFon vs. The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) comes to an end. The Headbangers take the place of The Sisters of Love (Sister Angelica and Mother Smucker), who were originally scheduled to be in this match. (Ironically, both the Sisters of Love and Headbangers gimmicks are portrayed by the same men. Not surprisingly, The Headbangers prove to be the more enduring gimmick.)

He says he wants to see no more videotapes of Woman and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit together, and tells Benoit that he has not won their game of chess yet, and that he's the one putting Benoit in position to lose. Okerlund then tells The Taskmaster that the newest video is not of Benoit and Woman, and that it instead contains someone else, with Okerlund tells Taskmaster "You know who I'm talking about." The Taskmaster hesitates, and Okerlund tells him "That's exactly who I'm talking about." The Taskmaster leaves, ending the interview.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Debra McMichael. Anderson says he is a man who picks his words very carefully, and that he did not want to step on anyone's toes. He says that "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Woman are not here, and asks Flair where they're at. Flair says that they deserve a night out, and that "Benoit is working her out as we speak, in true Horsemen fashion." Debra says she is sick and tired of Benoit and Woman yet again, and doesn't know what Woman sees in Benoit, and says that Woman is ugly without make-up. She hopes that Benoit is "taking her to a fat farm," then speak highly of herself and the rest of the Horsemen. He also calls Jeff Jarrett "a wonderful guy" and "the most professional member of the Four Horsemen." Jeff Jarrett shows up, saying he didn't come here to cause any problems and asks Flair if he wants a part-time Horsemen like Benoit or a full-time Horseman who can do it all night long. Anderson tells him that he's not a Horseman yet, and that if he aspires to be one, he needs to quit being a crybaby and a victim and become a perpetrator. Jarrett tells Anderson he played second fiddle all his career to Flair, Ole Anderson and Tully Blanchard, and he didn't come here to talk to the lead horse, not "the Horseman's rear." Anderson immediately attacks Jarrett, and this starts a match.

Jeff Jarrett beats Arn Anderson after putting his feet on the middle rope during the pinfall. After the match, Debra McMichael keeps "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Steve "Mongo" McMichael away from Jarrett, and Steve confronts Flair for putting his hands on Debra, who is also protecting Jarrett from Anderson, who eventually gets his hands on Mongo's steel Halliburton briefcase. Flair and Jarrett shake hands and strut together, and the steel briefcase ends up in Jarrett's hands. Anderson says "The hell with it!" and leaves.

The nWo Souled Out poster is now available for $25 plus shipping and handling, and the first 100 buyers get their poster signed by the members of the nWo!

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: The Amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet)! Rey Mysterio Jr.! Psychosis! "Lord" Steven Regal! Diamond Dallas Page!

Diamond Dallas Page does not show up for his match, but "Lord" Steven Regal does - and to brand new music. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan replaces Page in the match. Kevin Nash, Syxx and Eric Bischoff show up and boot Larry Zbyszko and Tony Schiavone off commentary, and Bischoff says that Page "got it" before announcing that Page is now a member of the New World Order thanks to Scott Hall. Bischoff says that he has signed a man who is an ideal candidate for the New World Order, and that details will be forthcoming.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and "Lord" Steven Regal wrestle to a time limit draw. "Lord" Steven Regal retains the WCW World Television Championship. After the match, Duggan flies a WCW flag in the ring.

Tony Schiavone and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko return to commentary for the next match.

Hugh Morrus beats Jim Powers.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats Psychosis. During the match, it is announced that Jushin "Thunder" Liger has won the J-Crown from The Ultimate Dragon in Japan. However, since the match was booked before Starrcade, the WCW Cruiserweight Championship is not considered part of the J-Crown, and The Ultimate Dragon remains WCW Cruiserweight Champion.

The Taskmaster beats Chavo Guerrero Jr.

We see some exclusive footage that was not shown last week, where "Rowdy" Roddy Piper is calmed down inside the ambulance.

Eddie Guerrero beats "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright. During the match, Syxx shows up with a ladder, climbs up to the top and reveals that he is wearing the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship around his waist. After the match, Eddie chases Syxx to the back.

Lee Marshall calls from New Orleans, Louisiana - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) beat The Amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet) after Ouellet accidentally hits Rougeau with one of their flags.

Lex Luger beats Meng...and The Barbarian. Luger accidentally knocks the referee out with Meng's legs during the Torture Rack, allowing The Barbarian to interfere. Unfortunately for him, Luger puts him in the Rack and is the one to submit after the referee comes to.

The New World Order shows up. Eric Bischoff boasts that "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan beat "Rowdy" Roddy Piper twice in one week, and can't believe he took down The Giant. Hogan says he was talking to The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall), and figured that if they weren't worried about the fans, any of the three of them could have an nWo invitational battle royal and decimate WCW. As Hogan boasts about beating up The Giant, The Giant shows up in his familiar singlet and fights off the nWo one by one, and referee Nick Patrick is tossed over the top rope. The Giant is then alone with only Hogan and Bischoff, and when Bischoff tries to hit The Giant, The Giant is distracted, allowing Hogan to hit The Giant in the back with a steel chair and the rest of the nWo to gang up on him. After the attack, the entire New World Order invade the commentary table, but Sting - the real Sting - shows up, gets in the ring and whispers something to The Giant before pointing his bat at the New World Order and leaving it next to The Giant. The nWo commands Vincent to grab the baseball bat, but wastes too much time and gets choke slammed by The Giant when he wakes up. The Giant then grabs the bat and swings for the fences at the nWo when they approach the ring.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for January 6, 1997

Vader tells Bret "The Hit Man' Hart that he and the whole world will find out it's Vader Time.

Mankind beats Owen Hart, this time with a piledriver instead of the Mandible Claw, in a match where weapons are somehow allowed and Owen Hart's Slammy is used as a weapon.

Vince McMahon interviews "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, Jose Lothario and Jose's son Pete. Jose Lothario says that he is doing much better physically, and is determined to stay in Shawn's corner and that Shawn will do his best and take back the WWF Championship. Pete has assisted his father in every way possibly, and says that in Texas, they don't play the game that Sycho Sid plays, and if he has to assist Shawn in any way possible and be in his corner, he will. Shawn says Sid has upset the Lothario family, and that his tricks won't work at Royal Rumble, and can't wait for his interview later tonight. He also says he wouldn't miss Bret "The Hit Man" Hart vs. Vader for the world tonight, and insists that he won't interfere.

We see footage from last Saturday night's premiere episode of Shotgun Saturday Night.

The Honky Tonky Man guests on commentary for the next match.

Doug Furnas and Philip LaFon beat "Diesel" and "Razor Ramon."

Next week on Raw: Goldust and "Wildman" Marc Mero vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Jerry "The King" Lawler.

We see footage of The Sultan vs. Goldust on last weekend's Shotgun Saturday Night.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart says he knows where Shawn's integrity lies, and if he wants to be at ringside for his match against Vader, he'd like to see "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels stick his nose in his business. As a matter of fact, he dares him. Bret says Vader is big but stupid, and Vader is going to make a big, last-second mistake. Bret leaves when he hears Sycho Sid's theme.

Jim Ross interviews Sycho Sid in the ring. Sycho Sid says he is intimiated by nothing or no one, and calls the ring "the dying field," and in the dying field, it's hit or be hit, kick or be kicked, and hit someone with a camera before you get hit first. The day he was born, he was born "The Man." He tells "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels that he can never have that claims, even in his own hometown. He plans to walk into San Antonio with the odds against him, and walk in the man and walk out "The Man" as he is the master and ruler of the world. As Sid is about to leave, Shawn Michaels shows up with Jose Lothario to guest on commentary for the next match. As Shawn stands on the commentary table and dances, Sycho Sid apologizes to everyone around the world for what he will do to Shawn at Royal Rumble as he will not be held responsible.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin is seen watching the next match from backstage.

During Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, Sycho Sid grabs a cameraman and takes him to the back while "Stone Cold" Steve Austin attacks Bret "The Hit Man" Hart from behind. The referee does not see it as he is keeping Vader away from Hart outside of the ring, and he never sees Austin. Vader beats Bret with a Vader Bomb, taking full advantage of the beating Austin has given to Bret. Ater the match, we see Sycho Sid attacking Pete Lothario. Sid says it will hurt him to do this, but he powerbombs Pete into a table as Jose Lothario and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels rush to the back. After the break, Shawhn, Savio Vega, "The Portuguese Man-O-War" Aldo Montoya and Bart Gunn check on Pete, then Shawn looks for Sid backstage.

Vince's Got A Shotgun - Shotgun Saturday Night recap for January 4, 1997

Bob Backlund tells the viewers not to go into the Mirage nightclub, saying there is decadence, sexual activities, violence, and crime going on inside. He calls Shotgun Saturday Night a disgrace, and says it should be banned along with New York City and Saturday nights in general.

The Flying Nuns (Sister Angelica and Mother Smucker) beat The Godwinns after Brother Love hits Phineas I. Godwinn in the head with his book. Before the match, we see footage from earlier today of The Flying Nuns coming out of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, and that they are described as nuns from a Tibetan order in the Himalayas. (The Flying Nuns do not last long, and they eventually return as The Headbangers, Mosh and Thrasher, respectively.) During the match, Hillbilly Jim says he has never seen anything like The Flying Nuns before, especially not back home. Brother Love also shows up in The Flying Nuns' corner, and the Nuns bow down to him outside of the ring in the middle of the match. After the match, Todd Pettengill interviews Brother Love, who says that he heard Bob Backlund talking about the decadence happening in the Mirage nightclub and that he saw that decadence in the Godwinns. He says that The Flying Nuns are as pure as the driven snow and that they have never been touched by human hands - except their own, of course. From now on, they shall be known as The Sisters of Love, and he challenges any and all comers to take them on as they will love them, too.

WWF is coming to Los Angeles, California; Fresno, California; San Jose, California; Anaheim, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; El Paso, Texas; and San Antonio, Texas as part of the WWF Holiday Hell Tour!

Todd Pettengill is in the VIP area along with Rocky Maivia, Goldust and Marlena, Mascarita Sagrada and Salvatore Sincere. Bob Backlund shows up along with The Sultan and says that Marlena's gold dress is "exposure." He asks Marlena where her mother is, and says that her cleavage is immoral.

Next week: The All-Star Cafe in New York City hosts Shotgun Saturday Night!

Macarita Sagrada dances with some of the ladies on a table before the next match.

Goldust beats The Sultan by count-out. During the match, Todd Pettengill tries to interview Bob Backlund at ringside, who tells Todd he can't hear without his glasses on. He says that he wanted to keep The Sultan away from an environment such as the Mirage Nightclub, saying that The Sultan "doesn't get involved in that kind of stuff" concerning the perceived lack of modesty from Marlena. When Todd Pettengill heads to the commentary table shortly after this and says that Bob Backlund is freaking out, Backlund approaches the commentary table, saying this is "Backlund country." Near the end of the match, Marlena gets on the apron as The Sultan puts Goldust in the Camel Clutch and pulls the top of her dress down, showing The Sultan her breasts. The Sultan cannot stop staring, and Bob Backlund has to cover The Sultan's eyes with his sports coat. Goldust takes advantage and gets a few shots on The Sultan, then Backlund gets The Sultan out of the ring and does not allow him to get back in. (In reality, Marlena is wearing pasties, and the camera stays behind her back to cover up this fact.) Sunny is irritated with the fact that Marlena showed her breasts, and says that she is the sexist woman Todd Pettengill announces that everyone has to agree that the real winner of this match is Marlena.

Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Vader, Jim Cornette, Goldust and Marlena are in the VIP area. Also, Sunny announces that next week, she will show off one of her home sex videos to counter Marlena showing her breasts in the previous match.

Ahmed Johnson beats Crush by disqualification when one of the members of The Nation of Domination (in reality, the future D'Lo Brown) interferes. During the match, Todd Pettengill interviews Clarence Mason, who is less concerned about the current venue and more concerned about Crush and The Nation of Domination, saying that Crush will no longer be misused and that The Nation will overtake the World Wrestling Federation. After the match, Ahmed Johnson tries to put the interfering Nation member in the Pearl River plunge, but Crush and the Nation member attack Ahmed. Crush finally hits Faarooq in the back with a chair, then Goldust, Hillbilly Jim and The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) leave the VIP area and check on Ahmed. When The Nation leave, Goldust, Ahmed and The Godwinns give chase to the back door, taking the fight to 56th Street. Ahmed puts the interfering Nation member in the Pearl River Plunge on top of a parked car.

We see gottage from earlier today, where Jim Cornette and Mini Vader are at the Port Authority Bus Terminal and Mini Vader has to use the bathroom.

Sunny gets in the ring to dance the Macarena in the ring, except it's called "The Mascarita" and Todd Pettengill sings new lyrics involving Masacarita Sagrada. Jim Cornette guests on commentary for the match afterwards, and complains about Mini Vader giving him a hard time during the trip from Mexico to New York. Cornette then gets on the apron, calls for a time out and yells at Mini Vader before the commercial break.

Mascarita Sagrada beats Mini Vader. It is announced during the match that "Wildman" Marc Mero and Sable will appear next week and that Mero will face "Diesel." After the match, Jim Cornette confronts Mini Vader and tries to fight Mascarita Sagrada himself. Mascarita Sagrada pushes Cornette down, and Mini Vader is behind him on his knees. Cornette trips over Mini Vader, then then Mini Vader and Mascarita Sagrada remove Cornette's pants.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels takes on Mankind! bret "The Hit Man" Hart wrestles Vader in the Garden for the first time! "Stone Cold" Steve Austin takes on Goldust in a special attraction match! Ahmed Johsnon and Savio Vega take on Crush and Faarooq! Tickets are as low as $10!

Jim Cornette is seen fleeing through the back door without his pants at the end of the show, while Sunny dances on the commentary table.
