Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for January 13, 1997

The show begins with The Giant busting into a dressing room full of New World Order members, demanding "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan give him a shot at the World title as nWo members, security, police officers and officials push The Giant out of the room.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. beats Mr. J.L.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, who says that a man can only take so much and that somebody had to take it to the New World Order, and it ended up being him. He has set the American flag aside for a purple-and-gold WCW flag, and admits that he can't handle the job along. He asks Sting to help out WCW and do the right thing. Before he can face Super Calo tonight, Sting shows up and hits Duggan with the reverse DDT, now known as the Scorpion Death Drop. Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman vs. Chris Jericho is advanced up the card as a stand-by match.

Chris Jericho quickly beats Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman.

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) beat High Voltage (Ronnie Rage and Kenny Khaos). During the match, The Giant breaks into the New World Order's dressing room, demanding "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan give him a World title shot. Eric Bischoff and Hogan make fun of The Giant, saying that he puts the dumb in dumb and that The Giant has to have a contract in order to have a World title shot.

The nWo Souled Out T-Shirt & Poster is available now for $25 plus $5.95 shipping and handling.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: The Barbarian vs. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson! "Lord" Steven Regal! Lex Luger vs. Scott Norton!

The WCW Executive Committee is about to make a ruling on whether The Giant will get a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, and that they will come to a decision tonight.

Eric Bischoff, Ted DiBiase and Vincent show up. They approach the commentary table and boot "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko and Tony Schiavone off commentary yet again.

Diamond Dallas Page quickly beats Mark Starr. The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) show up after the match and join DDP in the ring. DDP and Nash hug, then DDP puts on the New World Order tanktop that Nash give shim. Scott Hall shakes his hand, then Page hits Hall with the Diamond Cutter before clotheslining Nash out of the ring and leaving through the crowd. Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase leave commentary.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) talk about The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner), saying that they will pick them apart at Souled Out and injure Scott Steiner's back.

Dean Malenko beats Eddie Guerrero. During the match, it is announced that the WCW Executive Committee has ruled that "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan will have to face The Giant, and that he will have to face him tonight. Also, Syxx shows up and climbs up a ladder again, this time somewhere in the crowd, and when Eddie sees him, he is distracted, and Malenko hits a powerbomb for the win.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Konnan beats Super Calo.

We hear pre-recorded comments from The Taskmaster. He tells Benoit that he won't talk to him, as talk is for lovers. If he wants to play chess with him, then next week, he won't play as he owns the board and he is going to take it back.

Jeff Jarrett beats Chris Benoit. During the match, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Debra McMichael show up, and after "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson distracts the ref, Mongo grabs the steel Halliburton briefcase from Debra and readies it only to accidentally smash it into Benoit's back. Meanwhile, Debra plays innocent as it becomes obvious that she wanted Jarrett to win. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews the Horsemen after the match, and Benoit says this will be settled here and now tonight. He tells Mongo that if he wants to continue being a Horsemen, then he should quit fumbling the ball. He says that the Horsemen are playing less like a pro team lately, and says that he was hand-picked by Anderson while Mongo joined due to an unfortunate circumstance. Benoit finally calls out Debra on her bad-mouthing Woman, saying Woman is 100% woman from head to toe - no plastic, no wax, and zero silicone. Mongo apologizes for smacking him with the briefcase, and tells him not to fault him for it as he owns up to it. Benoit then wants to know where Flair is. Anderson says he doesn't want to step on any toes until he gets this figured out, but for now, they need to resolve their differences. Benoit says he will not stand for or tolerate what has happened the last few weeks, and tells Mongo to shape up or ship out. Debra says she would never gossip about Benoit or Woman as she loves them very much. Mongo finally confronts Benoit, telling him to jump if he feels so froggy. Mongo and Debra leave, and Benoit tells Anderson he wants to see results and not excuses as he's held up his end of the bargain and that it's time for everyone else to do the same.

Scotty Riggs beats Billy Kidman with a Fisherman's Suplex that he plans on calling the Ameri-Plex, according to commentary. During the match, Marcus Bagwell shows up with a brand new look, saying Scotty Riggs will never learn as "he's fat and I'm buff."

Lee Marshall calls from Chicago, Illinois - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

Recording artist Aaron Neville is seen in the crowd.

Lex Luger beats the debuting Rick Fuller with the Torture Rack. After the match, The Giant shows up as Lex Luger heads to the back, and both men stare down before The Giant finally walks to the ring.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Giant in the ring. The Giant says he's been getting a lot of support, but it's not about WCW or nWo. It's about him and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan. He says he wants the WCW World Heavyweight Championship really badly, and says he is no longer going to be a bookend like he was in the nWo. He says the books are falling apart and that he's read all the books, and he plans to write the final chapter on Hulkamania tonight.

Ric Steiner beats "The Enforcer' Arn Anderson by count-out. During the match, it is announced that The Giant vs. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan will be shown during the commercial breaks during the series premiere of The New Adventures Of Robin Hood in case the show runs past the 10 o'clock hour. Also, the Four Horsemen are locked in the locker room during this match, hence why he calls for them only to never show up. When he finds this out from Scott Steiner, he heads for the back. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Steiner Brothers after the match, and Scott says that The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) made a big mistake for thinking he's still hurt and for inviting them to Souled Out. He plans to make a believer out of Nash by sticking his fist down his throat and pulling his goozle out.

It is announced that the show will go off the air in six minutes for the series premiere of The New Adventures Of Robin Hood, and airs during the commercial breaks. In case the show ends, there will be a replay and explanation of how the match ended.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan mocks The Giant before their match, and says the New World Order does what they want when they want. He tells The Giant he doesn't need him anymore, and that there is no piece of paper in the world that says he has to fight him. The Giant grabs him from inside the ring and slams him to the mat. As expected, the show goes off before the end of the match.

After two commercial breaks, The Giant vs. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan ends with The New World Order attacking The Giant. Hogan retreats, saying "I quit" as The Giant cleans house.
