Clash of the Champions XXXIV - The Recap

Mike Tenay guests on commentary for the next match.

Dean Malenko forearms Sonny Onoo off the apron and beats The Ultimate Dragon with the Texas Cloverleaf to win the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship for the third time. During the match, it is announced that The Ultimate Dragon had recently lost the J-Crown to Jushin "Thunder" Liger.

Scotty Riggs beats Mike Enos.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Four Horsemen ("The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Woman, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Debra McMichael). Benoit says that the Horsemen will dominate in 1997, and he hopes that The Taskmaster is watching as he is looking into his fate as he has total control of it and can take away whatever he has whenever he pleases. If this is a chess game and he made it personal, it is irrelevant as he has beaten The Taskmaster physically, mentally and spiritualy as he is a wolvering who has tasted blood, and when he doesn't get what he wants, he cripples. Benoit says he has a fragile mind, and he will take away everything The Taskmaster has and save his career for last. Anderson says that The Taskmaster has had his heart ripped out of his chest by Benoit and that tonight, he will see how they operate. All he asks Benoit to finish off the rest of the carcass. Mongo says that winning isn't everything, it's the only thing, and tells The Taskmaster it's Horsemen time. Debra brags about her good looks and how she is called "The Queen of WCW" before making fun of Woman's look, saying they call her "The Queen of Sheba" as she's been dead for 2,000 years and looks it.

Chris Jericho, Super Calo and Chavo Guerrero, Jr. beat La Parka, Mr. J.L. and Konnan. (Chris Jericho replaced Juventud Guerrera in the match after Guerrera suffered an injury.)

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) beat Joe Gomez and The Renegade.

Lee Marshall calls from Des Moines, Iowa - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

Masahiro Chono beats Alex Wright, thanks to slow counts from nWo referee Nick Patrick whenever Wright goes for a pinfall which angers Wright to the point that he kicks Nick Patrick in the knee. Wright is almost disqualified, but Alex Wright misses a top rope cross body and Chono hits .

Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) advertise the Lex Luger T-Shirt, only $22 plus $5.95 shipping and handling.

Eddie Guerrero beats Scott Norton after a very reluctant three-count from nWo referee Nick Patrick. After Scott Norton shoulder tackles Eddie into Nick Patrick and knocks him down, Diamond Dallas Page hits a Diamond Cutter on Norton. Eddie Guerrero then hits the flog splash from the top rope for the win. Before the match, Eddie Guerrero slaps nWo referee Nick Patrick's butt, and Patrick threatens to disqualify him.

The Giant tells "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan that nothing will hold him back at Souled Out, and that he was never his friend and instead the person he was afraid of most when he was part of the New World Order. The Giant says he has smartened up and seen the light since, and tells Hogan that his future will be dim after Souled Out after he blows it out like a lit match.

The ten winners for the Sony PlayStation Tournament of Champions who will go to San Francisco, California on SuperBrawl weekend to compete in a Tobal No. 1 tournament: Jim Simpson of Lake City, Tennessee; Matt McDonald of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Keith Phillips of Ogden, Vermont; Donald William Byrnes of Harrisburg, North Carolina; Duke Park of Warrington, Oregon; Rick Rice, Jr. of Glendale, Arizona; Mona Little of East Liverpool, Ohio; Jeff Spinler of Anaheim, California; Austin Bryner of Milledgeville, Georgia; and Clayton Coldwell of Bryant, Arkansas.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit beats The Taskmaster in a Falls Count Anywhere after Woman smacks The Taskmaster in the head with a wooden chair as The Taskmaster goes for Jimmy Hart's megaphone. After the match, Benoit pulls out another wooden chair from underneath the ring and smashes it into The Taskmaster's head.

Before the next match, The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) are seen on the video screen near the stage, telling The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) that if The amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet) don't take care of them tonight, they'll do it Saturday at Souled Out. Kevin Nash then entertains the idea of The Outsiders taking care of The Steiners right now.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) beat The Amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet) after Rougeau misses Scott Steiner with the Quebec flag.

Lex Luger beats Scott Hall by disqualification after Luger is attacked by Kevin Nash and Syxx. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) charge into the ring after the match and fight Hall and Nash while Lex Luger fights Syxx. Hall, Nash and Syxx are forced to retreat, but that does not last as they come back to the ring for more as the show ends.
