Generation NXT - NXT recap for November 11, 2020

WWE acknowledges Veteran's Day.

Johnny Gargano is in the ring to start tonight's show. On the table in the ring is a wheel with numerous names on it. Gargano says he made history at Halloween Havoc, then says he is cursed to lose a championship on the first defense and plans to fix that with the wheel. He says that with one spin, someone will get the opportunity of a lifetime, for where there's a wheel, there's a way. Gargano spins the wheel, which lands on Leon Ruff's name.

In one of the biggest upsets in NXT history, Leon Ruff beats Johnny Gargano to become the NXT North American Championship with a crucifix pin after Gargano keeps mocking Damian Priest, whom he sees in the front row. As Priest heads to the back with Ruff, the title belt proves to be big enough to slide off Ruff's waist when he stands up straight.

Backstage, Damian Priest warns Leon Ruff that Johnny Gargano will come after him, then gives him the keys to the car so he can get out of dodge. Sure enough, Johnny Gargano shows up angry and tries to take his anger out on Priest. Gargano refuses to take responsibility for his own actions leading to the loss of the North American Championship and refuses to calm down. All the while, Priest rubs it in on Gargano.

In footage from earlier today, Jake Atlas attacks Raul Mendoza with a pipe and challenges Santos Escobar to a Cruiserweight Championship match outside of the arena.

Santos Escobar retains the NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Jake Atlas. During the match, Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde try to help Atlas, but their interference attempts eventually get them ejected and banned from ringside.

Dexter Lumis is seen drawing a picture of Cameron Grimes being chased by a zombie referee backstage.

We hear from Shotzi Blackheart, who says that Candice LeRae destroyed a part of her along with her tank, as it represented many things in her life. She says they are way past even, and now, she wants to kick her ass.

Before the next match, Boa shows up and tells Raquel Gonzalez that Xia Li is not here tonight, then apologizes to her. Raquel responds by kicking Boa in the face as he leaves the ring. Raquel then continues to attack Boa and throwing him into the plexiglass windows of the barricade, then slams Boa down in the middle of the ring and tells him he should get her name out of his mouth like everyone else. After Raquel leaves, the arena grows dark and the visual of a white dragon is seen around the LED boards situated around the arena. An older gentleman shows up and gives Boa a letter, then makes a black mark on Boa's hand and leaves.

Backstage, Mackenzie Mitchell interviews August Grey, but Grey is soon attacked from behind by Timothy Thatcher. Referees have to get Thatcher off of Grey, and Thatcher eventually throws Grey into Dexter Lumis' drawing. When Thatcher turns around, he sees Lumis General Manager William Regal has to stand between Thatcher and Lumis to stop another fight from erupting.

Candice LeRae beats Toni Storm after putting her feet on the middle rope for leverage. During the match, Dexter Lumis vs. Timothy Thatcher is made official for later tonight. After the match, Toni Storm attacks Candice LeRae, then the black cloaked figure in the Scream mask shows up to attack Storm. Shotzi Blackheart shows up and attacks LeRae and the black cloaked figure, but the cloaked figure gets the best of Shotzi. After a double-team on Shotzi, the black cloaked figure unmasks, revealing themselves to be Indi Hartwell.

We hear from Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango). Breeze says they worked too hard for the NXT tag team titles only to have it stolen from them by Pat McAfee, and tonight, a serious Breezango will become tag team champions again.

Timothy Thatcher beats Dexter Lumis following the interference attempt from Cameron Grimes. After the match, Cameron Grimes attacks Dexter Lumis as he is down, but Lumis gets up and fights back only for Grimes to ram his arm into the rope. He then puts a burlap sack over Lumis' head and attacks him again. Lumis tries to hit Grimes with a chair, but Grimes avoids it and keeps attacking Lumis before hitting the Cave-In on a seated Lumis.

Backstage, a much calmer Johnny Gargano talks with General Manager William Regal about reversing the decision on the NXT North American Championship and admits he rigged the wheel, but Regal confirms that the decision will stand. Gargano is livid.

We hear from Tommaso Ciampa, who says he has been wrestling for sixteen years and has come across some tough men, and says that the real tough men just made it known that they were tough. He says that nowadays, everybody talks about how tough they are in a day where people get everything by complaining, then says he never thought he would be the last of a dying breed before stating that today's culture is going to change and that he is that change.

We see a vignette for Rhea Ripley vs. Io Shirai for the NXT Women's Championship next week.

Pat McAfee, Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch and Pete Dunne show up. It is announced that Killian Dain is still not medically cleared following last week's attack. McAfee brags about the attacks the four of them have conducted in the last two weeks, then tells the fans that they don't deserve the match that they are about to watch and that he will dominate the announce table like Lorcan and Burch will dominate Breezango.

In footage from during the commercial break, Cameron Grimes says he is not afraid of any ghosts, ghouls or zombies, but he is man enough to say he was afraid of Dexter Lumis. He says he was scares of Lumis' eyes until he covered them up, then he leaves.

Next week: Finn Balor is live!

Pat McAfee briefly guests on commentary for the next match (until Tyler Breeze tosses Danny Burch into McAfee and Pete Dunne).

Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch retain the NXT Tag Team Championships against Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) despite the assistance from Drake Maverick against Pat McAfee and Pete Dunne. After the match, Maverick gets back into the ring, but the numbers game quickly takes over. This quickly turns into a brawl where Breezango is also overpowered and Pat McAfee punts Breeze in the face.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
