Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for July 10, 2020

It's time for Miz TV to start tonight's show. Tonight's guest is Jeff Hardy. We see a video package chronicling Jeff Hardy's feud with Sheamus, then make light of Hardy losing against Sheamus at Backlash. Hardy is about to break The Miz and John Morrison, but Miz asks Jeff if he is okay. Jeff says he has been to hell and back and that it will take more than taunts from Sheamus to break him, even as Sheamus gets under his skin, and that he must destroy Sheamus to put his past behind him. Jeff says he will stand out and become a beacon of light for anyone who deals with addiction daily, and show them that change is possible, that hope is real and that there is a life beyond their wildest dreams if they stay sober. The Miz and John Morrison believe that Hardy has a second chance, and in a place where he can do his best work. They propose a bar fight with Sheamus where Hardy can fight his physical demons with Sheamus and his mental demons with alcoholism at the same time, and Hardy says that he will not crumble when he beats Sheamus, find success once more, and never let the fans down again, and tells Miz and Morrison to tell Sheamus he will accept that challenge. He then challenges Miz and Morrison to a one-on-one match, then attacks them for belittling him.

Jeff Hardy beats The Miz after countering a roll-up with one of his own as Sheamus shows up on the TitanTron and distracts Jeff by trying to get him to drink again.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura. Cesaro says it will not be an upset when he and Nakamura beat The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) tonight, as they have done it before, and that he has been sick of The New Day's antics for a long time as well as their domination of the tag team division. He says that will change tonight.

Bayley and Sasha Banks show up, but Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross attack them from behind.

Bayley and Sasha Banks beat Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross after Bayley uses the bottom rope for leverage during a schoolkid pin as Nikki drop kicks Sasha from inside the ring.

Bray Wyatt vs. Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship from Money In The Bank is replayed.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E). Kofi says it sounds like they have been repeating the same story for the last six years, and that they have remembered who Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura are. Big E says they will march on until victory is won and that they will march all night to stay tag team champions.

Jey Uso hosts a women's karaoke showdown between Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, Tamina and Naomi. Each Superstar has 45 seconds to sing their favorite WWE theme song, and the audience will pick the winner. After the singing is over - which also involves Tamina being stopped before she can even start - Naomi ends up being the clear audience favorite and the winner. Lacey shoves Naomi from behind, and Jey Uso has to keep them apart.

Naomi vs. Lacey Evans ends in a no-contest. Dana Brooke tells Lacey she is being a sore loser, and when Tamina gets involved, Lacey shoves her. When she gets back in the ring, Tamina and Dana break up the fight, and the match is over.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, who says that he embarrassed Drew Gulak and that nobody is worthy of stepping into the ring with him; therefore, he will hold the WWE Intercontinental Championship for a long time. When told he will defend the championship against Matt Riddle next week, he says that Riddle's victory against him was a fluke and that the locker room won't be there to have his back when he gets beaten.

Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) ends in a no-contest after both teams brawl in the ring. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) retain the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships. After the match, both teams brawl, and Big E is put through a table with a powerbomb from the middle rope by Cesaro.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
