Generation NXT - NXT recap for October 16, 2019

Tommaso Ciampa beats Angel Garza in his first match in seven months since going down with an injury. After the match, The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) shows up, and as Ciampa sits in the ring lying in wait, Kyle O'Reilly heads to the announce table and hands the commentary team a USB drive, telling them "You might want to see this" as the rest of The Undisputed Era surround the ring. The Undisputed Era then leaves.

We see the contents of the USB drive from earlier: a video from The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) where Adam Cole states that an example needs to made as Roderick Strong tells a beaten-up Velveteen Dream that actions have consequences. Adam Cole tells Finn Balor and Tommaso Ciampa that the same thing will happen to them if they get in their way. Strong then stomps on Velveteen Dream's glasses.

Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) beat Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.

We see a video package of Johnny Gargano's road to becoming NXT's first-ever Triple Crown Champion.

In footage from earlier today, Cathy Kelley interviews Johnny Gargano. He says his history with Tommaso Ciampa is well-documented, and he will not know how to feel about Ciampa's return until he meets him face-to-face.

Io Shirai beats Kayden Carter. After the match, as Io Shirai namedrops Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair and "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, Rhea Ripley shows up and says that Bianca Belair ran her mouth last week and that she will put her in her place next week. She then warns Shirai that if she mentions her again, she will have no problem shutting her mouth, too. Shirai leaves.

Cathy Kelley interviews General Manager William Regal, who announces that Velveteen Dream will not be able to compete for a while due to the beating he received from The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong). However, Roderick Strong will still defend the NXT North American Championship next week against the winner of Keith Lee vs. Dominik Dijakovic, which is happening next.

Keith Lee vs. Dominik Dijakovic ends after Roderick Strong runs in and attacks both men. General Manager William Regal shows up on the balcony above the announce table and tells him that he will defend the NXT North American Championship against both Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic next week.

In footage from during the commercial, General Manager William Regal is subjected to verbal abuse from The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong), which he does not respond to.

Matt Riddle beats Bronson Reed.

We see a video package for Bianca Belair.

It is announced that KUSHIDA has re-aggravated a wrist injury against Walter, and that he will be out for about a month.

Tegan Nox beats Taynara. After the match, Cathy Kelley interviews Tegan Nox, and Dakota Kai shows up to congratulate Tegan. Suddenly, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir show up. Baszler tells Tegan Nox she is running out of limbs to rehab, and tells her to call her for a title shot when she is doing something worth talking about when Tegan Nox demands a title shot.

We see a video package of Finn Balor, who says that to find a road to travel, one must tread the path they have already walked. He says that he has retraced his steps to find his heart, and that next week, his future will be his past.

Killian Dain beats Boa by submission.

Before the next match, Killian Dain confronts Dunne on the way to the back. Dunne responds by twisting one of his fingers.

Next week: Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair! Keith Lee vs. Dominik Dijakovic vs. Roderick Strong for the NXT North American Championship!

Damian Priest beats Pete Dunne after kicking Dunne in the groin out of the referee's field of view.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
