Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for September 3, 2019

Bayley shows up to start tonight's show. She says that everyone has something to say about her actions last night, and asks why nobody saw her staying true to her friendship with Sasha Banks coming. She says she is trying to show the kind of champion she wants to be, and that she wants the fans to feel like she did as a fan. She wants to show kids what it means to be loyal, and she could not turn her back on Sasha after things got rough. She says she is doing all she can to put the SmackDown Women's title on the map, as the fans deserve a high-caliber champion, and she plans to do that by beating Charlotte Flair at Clash of Champions. She says Charlotte is selfish and has no idea what it is like to be a role model for the fans, then Charlotte shows up. Charlotte tells Bayley she is right about her being selfish, as she is "the queen of selfishness" and "what you see is what you get," as there is no confusion, blindsiding or hugging. She tells Bayley to hold the SmackDown Women's title tight, then Sasha shows up. Charlotte punches Bayley, then Sasha rush into the ring only to be pounded on by Charlotte. Bayley gets back in the ring with a steel chair and smacks it repeatedly into Charlotte's back. Bayley then hands the steel chair to Sasha, who hits Charlotte with the chair before handing it back to Bayley. Bayley nails Charlotte with the chair again, then Sasha and Bayley look at a downed Charlotte before leaving.

Elias beats Ali to advance to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament after working on Ali's left leg throughout the match.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Samoa Joe. Joe says last night was just a minor inconvenience, and now he has to go through one more pretender to the throne. He says the path will lead him to the crown, and he is here tonight to scout the competition and warn everyone that he will put anyone in his way to sleep. He states that he will soon win the tournament, and that everyone will soon call him king.

We hear from Aleister Black, who says that if the mountain will not come to him, he will come to the mountain. He plans to head to the ring and see if anyone is man enough to pick a fight with him.

Fire and Desire (Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville) beats Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross after Alexa is distracted by Mandy Rose sending Nikki Cross into the ring apron before going for Twisted Bliss, which Sonya blocks by getting the knees up.

Backstage, Samoa Joe bumps into Chad Gable, who makes fun of Gable's height and youthful appearance before saying he can look into his eyes and tell that the jokes still hurt, that he is mentally weak and there is no room for mental weakness in the kingdom.

Randy Orton shows up. Orton states that in two weeks, there will be a new WWE Champion when he proves that Kofi Kingston is a fraud who has never been on his level. He calls what happened to Kofi Kingston last week an example of that, and says the best part about it was the sound of Kofi's skull bouncing off the floor. For weeks, he has decimated The New Day (Kofi, Big E, Xavier Woods) and destroyed the power of positivity, then replays video footage of what he has done to The New Day as of late. Orton then tells Kofi there is no more games, traps or waiting until Clash of Champions, and tells him to face him in the ring like a man. The New Day's music hits, then The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) show up with Kofi, beating him up on the stage. The beatdown makes it way down the ramp, and while Kofi tries to fight back, Orton runs in to make sure he does not come out on top. Orton gets Kofi back in the ring, and repeatedly calls him "stupid" as he takes the boots to him. The Revival pick Kofi up just before Orton tells Kofi that he will beat him once and for all in front of his fans, friends and family with the RKO. Kofi kicks at Orton and tries to fight back, but the numbers game quickly catches up. The Revival and Orton then hit Kofi with a super RKO.

Roman Reigns vs. Erick Rowan is official for Clash Of Champions.

Before the next match, Zelina Vega says she has nothing but respect and admiration for how Gable overcomes the odds, and she believes that he could be the next King of the Ring if Andrade was not in the tournament, and unfortunately for him, he is. She says that Andrade will beat him tonight, and that there is no shame in losing to him. She tells him to keep going before calling him a "little guy."

Chad Gable beats Andrade with a Sunset Flip to counter the Hammerlock DDT following the referee distraction by Zelina Vega.

Aleister Black beats Shelton Benjamin.

Backstage, Drake and Renee Maverick are ambushed in the arena boiler room by various Superstars. Bo Dallas gets a schoolkid pin on Drake Maverick to win the WWE 24/7 Championship.

Before the next match, Sami Zayn says tonight is about Shinsuke Nakamura, not the fans, and that Nakamura's opponent's name - which is really Andrew Howard - might as well be "The Miz." He says everyone is in store for a taste of what will happen to The Miz when Nakamura gets his hands on him at Clash Of Champions.

Shinsuke Nakamura quickly beats Andrew Howard. After the match, The B-Team are in the ring, and other Superstars show up to try to take the WWE 24/7 Championship form them. Drake Maverick wins back the WWE 24/7 Championship after a schoolkid pin to Dallas, then fends everyone else off before escaping to the back. As Maverick celebrates on the stage, however, R-Truth pops out from behind the royal robe near the King of the Ring throne to get a schoolkid pin on Maverick to win the WWE 24/7 Championship for a fourteenth time.

Next week: The Undertaker!

"The New" Daniel Bryan shows up. Daniel says it looks like he has a group of people who believe him, because he knows how it looks to everyone else when video footage of Erick Rowan attacking Roman Reigns is produced. He says people think he is guilty by association, but he has said the whole time that he has had nothing to do with this, and while a lot of people may not like him, what he says or his opinions, they cannot say that he is a liar. He says he has never lied to any of the fans, and that he hates liars. Daniel then demands an apology from Roman Reigns not just for accusing him of something he did not do or for Spearing him last week, but also for calling him a liar. Roman Reigns shows up, but he is suddenly attacked from behind by Rowan. Daniel tries to calm Rowan down, but Rowan shoves Daniel to the side before powerbombing Roman into the ring post. Rowan then gets him in the ring and slams him with the Iron Claw. Rowan then takes the microphone and tells Roman that if he thought Daniel Bryan did this, then the joke is on him. He then tells Daniel is worse than everyone else, and that he is nobody's puppet. He dares Daniel to step in the ring with him to show much of a man he is and try to slap him in the face again, then tells Roman Reigns he is proud of all he has done to him and most proud of the pain Roman will feel at Clash Of Champions. Rowan then tosses Roman out of the ring, grabs the steel steps and sends them right into Roman's face before breaking down the nearby announce table. Daniel tries to reason with Rowan but ends up slapping him in the face. Rowan slams Daniel through the commentary table before shouting that nobody tells him what to do ever again. As he says that nobody touches him, two referees show up to get Rowan to head to the back.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
