Elias is in the ring. After playing his guitar, he says he is happy that tonight is The Shield's (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) final chapter, as he will never have to see all three of them in the ring ever again and Dean Ambrose had the foresight to see that The Shield had no future in WWE. He wishes that Seth Rollins had the same sense, but he will continue to run Raw into the ground, and says that Roman Reigns will get what is coming to him on SmackDown. After telling Corey Graves to shut his mouth, Elias bashes the live Moline, Iowa crowd through song. After a few bars, Elias is interrupted by Finn Balor. After Finn makes his entrance, Elias demands that Finn's music be cut so that Finn can explain himself. Finn says he is one of Elias' biggest fans and wants to walk with Elias, and Elias offers him the opportunity to sing with him. Elias tries to get the fans to say they love him, but Finn Balor uses the song as an opportunity to turn the crowd against him. Elias gets a cheap shot, and the match is underway.
Finn Balor retains the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Elias with a La Magistral Cradle after Elias barely kicks out of a Sunset Flip roll-up. After the match, Elias gets back on his stool and says that both Finn Balor and the fans got lucky, and says he will finish the song he started. Unfortunately for him, he is interrupted immediately by The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan). The Riott Squad say that they admire Elias and ask him to play his music while they sing along. After offering to be "The Elias Squad," Elias likes the sound of that and believe they won't turn on him like Finn Balor did earlier. Unfortunately for Elias, The Riott Squad make the song about themselves, and nobody - not even Elias - likes their singing voices.
Bayley and Ember Moon beat The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan) after Ember Moon hits the Eclipse on a distracted Ruby Riott after Liv Morgan is ejected from the match for keeping Ruby Riott's feet on the middle rope during a pinfall attempt.
Backstage, The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) talk about how they walked into WWE to create a legacy with their own brand of justice only to change the culture on their own terms. Tonight, they go out on their own terms in their own way.
We see footage from before the event went on the air of Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley attacking The Lucha House Party (Kalisto and Lince Dorado) and The Singh Brothers (Samir and Sunil Singh) during a tag team match. After the attack, Corbin calls it a preview of what the three of them will do to The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) later tonight.
Before the next match, ring announcer Mike Rome re-introduces Baron Corbin with a list of his pre-WWE and WWE accolades and achievements. Afterwards, Corbin praises the re-introduction before proclaiming that The Shield's (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) final match will not have a storybook ending when they get the exact same privilege of losing to him as Kurt Angle did. Lashley says The Shield will not be riding into the sunset, and that they will be lucky to be allowed to limp out of the ring with an ounce of dignity following the beatdown they will give them. McIntyre tells the fans to show some respect and get their cameras ready, as they will bear witness to them writing history and becoming the new dominant force in WWE.
In what is advertised as their last match in WWE, The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) beat Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley following a three-man powerbomb to Lashley. After the match, the crowd chants "Thank you, Ambrose," and "Please don't go," then Rollins mentions that the hometown crowd knows him and his story as the culmination of the last fifteen years of his life. He thanks the fans and his friends and family for the support, and says that the WWE Universal Championship would not have been possible without The Shield's brotherhood. Seth says that he will always love The Shield, and that the Universal title win is for them. The crowd chants "Thank you, Shield," then Dean says it is no secret that Seth Rollins grew up in the area and that if you work until you get to the finish line, you can do whatever you want in life and that Seth is proof of that. The crowd chants "Thank you, Ambrose" one more time as The Shield goes for the traditional Shield fist bump.
