Raw Deal - Raw recap for March 18, 2024

"Main Event" Jey Uso heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Jey says he knows that The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa) are in the building, and calls out Jimmy Uso. Jimmy Uso soon shows up from the crowd, accompanied by Solo Sikoa. Jey and Jimmy have a staredown in the middle of the ring. Jey admits that despite the bad blood between them and the tense feeling between them, he misses him. As Jey tells Jimmy to come back, Jimmy says he never left, and that it was Jey's idea to leave The Bloodline. Jimmy acknowledges what Jey has accomplished on his own, then says Jey forgot him and that everything he did was because of him, including the biggest moment in his career. Jey disagrees, saying that his biggest match will be his dream match against Jimmy at WrestleMania, when he knocks the "yeet" out of him. Jey attacks Jimmy, but Jimmy fires back. "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes runs into the ring and Jimmy and Solo gang up on Jey, and takes Jimmy and Solo out as he makes the save for Jey.

We see a video package for Becky Lynch vs. Nia Jax in a Last Woman Standing Match later tonight.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce is on the phone with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis when Paul Heyman shows up. Heyman apologizes to Pearce, saying that Roman Reigns and The Rock did not authorize Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa being here and that the two of them are gone for the night. Heyman also says that he is here on official business and that he will leave after he is done, and states that everyone will get caught off-guard when he conducts his official business tonight.

#DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) beat The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) in a 6-Pack Ladder Match qualifier to advance to the 6-Pack Ladder Match for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania.

Backstage, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Rhea Ripley, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) is seen with Andrade. Dominik and Rhea tell Andrade that The Judgment Day runs Raw and is an exclusive club, but if Andrade continues to impress them, they may allow him in. Finn Balor says they will be watching his match next week, and Andrade says he will see them next week before briefly running into Damian Priest, who has seen the previous match before showing disappointment in JD McDonagh. McDonagh says Ricochet got lucky at the end, but Rhea says Ricochet made a fool out of McDonagh and that Dominik will make things right with Ricochet.

Thunderbolt Patterson is the next inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae beat Kayden Carter and Katana Chance after Candice LeRae mocks Katana's injured right knee and targets it, winning with a single leg crab.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes heads to the ring. Cody says that in less than three weeks, he will stand opposite Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. He says that this Friday on SmackDown, he and Roman will have a little conversation, then admits there are complications, namely The Rock, that he is dealing with. He addresses The Rock calling himself "your favorite heel," and Cody says that while he has known some heels, he says that The Rock is an asshole, not a heel, and says The Rock has been crying behind the scenes the whole time. Cody says that The Rock did this thinking it would be good public relations until it was not, and that the TKO people told The Rock to do what he has done because they are "yes men." Cody also admits that he considers The Rock "a Mount Rushmore wrestler," but also calls him a terrible salesman, "a carny succubus" and "a whiny bitch." He also says that he knows The Rock's mom, saying that she is a wonderful woman and a great person and The Rock does not know his mother, who got up beat and beat up an undercover cop at a Willie Nelson concert. Cody also says that Seth "Freakin'" Rollins does a good job at carrying the company against The Rock and Roman Reigns, and while he does not know how his second match with Roman will play out, he wants to know why The Rock is so sure of himself. He wants to know if The Rock will bring "The Great One" and bring that "Big Dwayne Energy" or if he will just bring "Little Dick Syndrome" when the bell rings at Night One, and addresses The Rock calling himself "The Final Boss," saying The Rock is just "Roman's side chick." Paul Heyman soon shows up and tells Cody that they both share are far greater than the interests on which they conflict, and apologizes for his sicking New York police detectves on him weeks ago. Cody says he did not ask for an apology, and lets him step into the ring on the grounds that he is a WWE Hall of Famer. Heyman stays on the ring apron and delivers a message from Roman Reigns. He says that Cody can think what he wants of him, then says Roman is a Tribal Chief of his word and that on Friday, there will not be a single other member of The Bloodline (Roman, Heyman, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa) in sight aside from him when Cody meets with Roman. He also tells Cody that he has Roman's word that if he shows up Friday, Roman will show up alone. Cody accepts the deal, but Paul then mentions that if Roman shows up alone, then Cody must show up alone as well. Cody accepts the terms, then shakes hands with Heyman.

We hear from Nia Jax, who says that Becky Lynch has never beaten her, and after tonight, she never will after she breaks her face again and takes her spot at WrestleMania to finish her business with Rhea Ripley and become Women's World Champion.

Backstage, "Main Event" Jey Uso meets with "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes. Cody says he gave Paul Heyman his word, but Jey tells Cody that The Bloodline (Roman, Heyman, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa) will be there and that he has his back if he needs him.

Ricochet beats "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio. After the match, JD McDonagh attacks Ricochet, but Ricochet is able to get away from him.

Backstage, Sami Zayn meets with Chad Gable, saying it was an honor to face him in the ring last week and that nobody has pushed him so far in a long time. Chad Gable says that last week meant more to him, but Sami Zayn says he has family and people he has let down as well. When Sami wants to know what is going on with Gable, Gable soon tells Sami "You can't beat Gunther," and walks off.

General Manager Adam Pearce oversees a contract signing for Sami Zayn vs. Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40. Sami Zayn shows up, followed by Gunther. Gunther calls the contract signing the biggest one ever for the biggest WrestleMania title match ever, and wants to know why Sami Zayn is dressed like "a bum" in the crowd. Sami says Gunther's smugness is starting to piss him off, and while he acknowledges Gunther's accomplishments as Intercontinental Champion, he says that Gunther does not believe he can beat him. He says a lot of people did not believe in him in the last year until he accomplished things, and that he will make history again when he ends Gunther's reign as Intercontinental Champion. Sami then signs the contract. Gunther tells Sami that he should listen to Chad Gable, as Gable does not believe Sami can beat him, and says that while the fans love him, they do not believe in Sami, either. He also does not believe that even Sami himself does not believe he can beat him, and that Sami is begging to give him the beating of a lifetime at the grandest stage of them all, as his dreams will meet reality. Gunther signs the contract, and as he leaves, Sami asks Gunther if he does not think he believes in himself when he looks in his eye, then tells him to look again as he looking at the man who will take him down at WrestleMania. Sami then heads backstage and walks past The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) and #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa), and Miz tells R-Truth that this is the kind of mindset that they need. Indus Sher (Jinder Mahal, Veer, Sanga) shows up as The Miz is about to tell R-Truth that they have to beat them to get to WrestleMania.

Backstage, Sami Zayn confronts Chad Gable and asks him why he thinks he cannot beat Gunther. Gable tells Sami that he saw why, as it is not just physical with him, but also mental. He says that Gunther is on a different level and that Sami cannot just wait for a window of opportunity, and that unless he changes his mentality, he cannot beat Gunther.

We hear from CM Punk, who says that he will find a way to make it to WrestleMania.

Drew McIntyre heads to the ring. As he does, however, Seth "Freakin'" Rollins also shows up and heads to the ring. Rollins and McIntyre argue, and Rollins says that he is here for an honest cause, and while he admits that he does not like him, he says that McIntyre is right about something. Rollins then says that he is "a spotlight junkie," and McIntyre asks if everything is a joke to Rollins and says that Rollins is past parody at this point before stating that the punchline will be beating Rollins for the World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania. As Drew addresses the "CM Punk" chants by saying that Punk would never show up in some place like Raleigh, North Carolina, Rollins says this is not a joke to him, as he has been doing this for twenty years and this is his fix. He says that it gets better and better every time when he leaves it all in the ring and hears the crowd sing his song so loudly that he can barely hear himself speak. He says that this is the spotlight for him and that he wants it to be the brightest he can be, and tells McIntyre that at Night One, he will take the biggest star in Hollywood and "his side chick" and make them his bitches. He then says that the brightest spotlight possible will be on him and McIntyre for the World Heavyweight Championship on Night Two. McIntyre says this passion is what he wanted from Rollins all the way to the finish. He also says that Rollins had him until he mentioned a spotlight again, and says that all he cares about is Rollins making his way to the ring at Night Two, as he will get the moment that he has not deserved, but earned. Rollins says McIntyre wants to call him a spotlight junkie, but also wants the spotlight, as he won the WWE Championship in an empty warehouse and said that he always deserved more, but when the fans returned and the lights got brighter, he fumbled the ball. Rollins says he shines under the brightest lights, and that when the lights are brightest again, McIntyre will find out he is not as great as he thinks he is.

We hear from Becky Lynch, who says that all she knows is taking risks and fighting despite not being champion yet, and that she will be doing it again when she fights to become last woman standing.
