Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 5, 2024

Ludwig Kaiser introduces Gunther to the ring to start tonight's show. Gunther re-introduces himself and lists off his main roster accolades, then proclaims that a new legacy begins tonight and that the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE deserves more for a very long time, and implies his World title reign will eclipse the Intercontinental one. He says that he is prepared for anyone and anything and that nothing can catch him off-guard, for he is greatness personified. He says that from this day forth, Raw and the legacy of professional wrestling belong to him. Suddenly, Randy Orton shows up, despite being from SmackDown, and heads to the ring. Gunther admits he was caught off-guard, then Orton says that he would congratulate him, but that is not his style. He then says the World Heavyweight Championship looks fine over his "German" shoulders (Gunther is actually Austrian). Orton then says that he is the only reason Gunther is World Heavyweight Champion in the first place, as he beat him at King of the Ring, but alludes to now having only one shoulder down when Gunther beat him. He says that everyone has seen the footage and that even Paul "Triple H" Levesque agrees there should be a rematch, which he is now proposing. Orton says he knows that he is the only one who can match him in the ring, then says the fans need a "modern day Flair vs. Steamboat" and knows that he can fit one of those roles, then asks if Gunther can do the same. Orton mentions Gunther calling himself a living legend and says he has made his living out of killing legends, then says that he will walk out of Gunther's own home country and become champion. Gunther says everything Orton has said is true, but tells him that the voices telling him he can beat him are wrong. Gunther tells Orton that he accepts his challenge, then tells him that nothing will catch him out of nowhere, but Orton tells Gunther he wants him to see the RKO coming.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Sheamus. Sheamus says Ludwig Kaiser has somehow returned medically cleared and has demanded a match tonight, then says all the young up-and-comers want a piece of him and that he will fight them all. He plans to fracture Kaiser's ribs before putting Pete Dunne on the shelf, then asks the fans if they are ready for a banger.

Sheamus beats Ludwig Kaiser despite attempted interference by Pete Dunne.

We see a video package chronicling the last eleven years, starting with the main roster debut of The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan) leading up to the debut of Wyatt Sicks.

Damian Priest walks with purpose to the ring. He immediately calls out Finn Balor and tells him to take a beating like a man, and asks how Balor went from a prince to a backstabbing scumbag to a coward, especially after he knew about Priest and The Judgment Day gave him a reason to fight. He says that after the premiere of his documentary, he heard what people thought about him and realized that his family got a whole lot bigger, and calls the fans his new family. He says that he can become champion again but he is angry that Finn Balor took the World championship away.He says that he can become champion again but he is angry that Finn Balor took the World championship away. Priest says he cannot let that stand, and says that while Finn is suffering, he is the reason for his pain. Finn appears on the TitanTron saying Priest brought this on himself and that he betrayed The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) and that Priest decided to become a leader when he became champion. He also blames Priest for keeping him from becoming champion. Finn mentions Priest telling him to man up after that match and says that he waited until SummerSlam to do it, then says he will not fight him and that someone who has earned it will: JD McDonagh. He then says he will wait until Priest feels safest to stab him again, and that the rest of The Judgment Day (JD McDonagh, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio), Carlito and Liv Morgan will. A fuming Damian Priest heads to the back.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce is met by "Big" Bronson Reed, saying he wants a piece of Sheamus and that he does not want excuses, and realizes that he must create his own path to the top.

Lyra Valkyria beats "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler after Zoey Stark and Sonya Deville attack Lyra. After the match, Baszler, Zoey and Sonya attack Lyra, but Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane) run into the ring and send them packing.

We hear from The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Akam, Rezar, Paul Ellering). Karrion Kross says the doomsday clock has struck midnight on Raw and that The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) will put an end to The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) tonight, with the real tragedy saying it did not have to be this way for Xavier Woods. He says that Kofi Kingston carved his own path and became "the man" by winning the WWE Championship, while Xavier Woods has not and is "just a man" who will stand next to "the man" despite the opportunities he has given him. Kross says that Woods has chosen to stand with Kofi and that they will both share the same fate when The Authors of Pain end The New Day.

Backstage, Ivy Nile is talking with The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) when Maxxine Dupri shows up. Maxxine asks Ivy where she has been and what is going on. As Ivy does, Chad Gable shows up and says Maxxine has nothing of value for Ivy, then Gable says he is done with Alpha Academy (Otis, Maxxine, Akira Tozawa), who can keep their name, and says he has a new team before leaving with Ivy.

CM Punk heads to the ring. Punk gives a shout out to Belal Muhammad for winning the UFC Welterweight Championship, and while losing does not make him happy, he knows that the fans love him when he gets knocked down and gets back up while others hate him and want to see him knocked down. Punk says that he is proud of himself for being given nine months on the shelf and coming back in five to face Drew McIntyre, who gloated about hurting him and wanted to ruin his life and tell lies about him to feel better about himself. He then says he is happy because he is back and that his road has begun again, and while his summer did not start the way he predicted it, it is still summer and the fans deserves "less CM Punk talking and more CM Punk fighting." Punk says he wants McIntyre because he promised to put him in the ground, yet he is still here with air in his lungs, when Seth "Freakin'" Rollins shows up. Rollins notes that Punk is in a good and says that he also is, then says that after ten long years, it is time to put Punk in the dirt. Punk tells Rollins he is more than willing to fight him when McIntyre appears in the crowd. McIntyre says tonight is a night of celebration and that everyone is talking about how he beat Punk, then admits that Punk shocked both him and the world by bringing the fight and proving he still had it. McIntyre then says that he, not Punk, is now the best in the world, then tries to get their attention with Punk's bracelet. Punk rolls out of the ring, jumps the barricade and runs after McIntyre. All of a sudden, Rollins is attacked from out of nowhere by "Big" Bronson Reed, but Rollins fights back. Bronson hits Rollins with a Death Valley Driver and a few sentons before hitting him with the Tsunami twice. Medical personnel check on Rollins while officials demand that Bronson head to the back, but Bronson makes his way back to the top rope for a third Tsunami. Bronson then hits a fourth Tsunami, then a fifth, then a sixth. Rollins is bleeding internally by the time Bronson is out of the ring. Bronson then goes back to the top rope again for a seventh Tsunami, but Rollins is rolled out of the ring before he can hit it. Bronson sits at the top rope, arms crossed, then leaves.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews General Manager Adam Pearce, who says Seth "Freakin'" Rollins is heading to the hospital before CM Punk is heard looking for McIntyre. Pearce tells him that McIntyre is out of the building and that he has walked him out.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) beat The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) after Odyssey Jones suddenly appears and attacks Karrion Kross on the outside, allowing Woods to win with an inside cradle. After the match, Odyssey Jones gets in the ring and fights off Akam and Rezar, hitting them both with a double sidewalk slam. Kross fights Odyssey again, but Odyssey hits him with a spinning side slam. Kofi and Woods celebrate with Odyssey.

We hear from JD McDonagh, who says that Damian Priest finding out that Finn Balor betrayed him made him laugh. He says that Priest was only champion for as long as The Judgment Day allowed, that he sacrificed himself for him, and that Priest never wanted him in the group until Finn Balor convinced him because he trusted Finn's word more than anything. He then says that he is now in The Judgment Day and that he is a champion while Priest has nothing.

Backstage, Kofi Kingston thanks Odyssey Jones, who says he is honored to help out The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods). Kofi introduces Xavier Woods to Odyssey, and Woods is surprised that Kofi and Odyssey are friends. Odyssey says Kofi asked for his help with The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Akam, Rezar, Paul Ellering), then Alpha Academy (Otis, Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa) shows up and Akira Tozawa dances.

Grayson Waller and Austin Theory (now officially announced as "A-Town Down Under") beat The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) after R-Truth gets the hot tag - unbeknownst to The Miz - and accidentally knocks The Miz out of the ring hitting Grayson with the Attitude Adjustment only for Theory to hit R-Truth with the A-Town Down.

We hear from Damian Priest, who says the beating that he wants to give JD McDonagh is a long time coming, as only Finn Balor wanted him in The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) and McDonagh is about to catch the first bullet because Finn Balor sent him to take it. He says he has enough in the chamber for Finn, too, and hopes that McDonagh went to confession as he is sending McDonagh straight to Hell.

Randy Orton vs. Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship is now official for Bash In Berlin.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Bron Breakker. He says everyone loves to talk about how long they have held a championship, then says it has been less than three years since his debut to become Intercontinental Champion. He says that he has no target on his back and that he is the hunter while the locker room is the hunted, then asks who has the guts to face him for the title before saying that the Intercontinental Championship was born to be on his shoulder, not the other way around. Breakker then says there is no man who will take his name off of his title.

Damian Priest beats JD McDonagh by disqualification after Priest is attacked from behind by Finn Balor. After the match, Finn, Carlito and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio gang up on Priest alongside McDonagh while Liv MOrgan watches, but Priest starts fighting back. Finn finds himself face-to-face with Priest and runs, but Priest grabs him for the Razor's Edge. Liv distracts Priest to allow Dominik to hit Priest with a chop block, then Rhea Ripley shows up and chases Liv and Dominik out of the ring. Rhea is able to grab Liv and beat her up, then goes for a powerbomb through the announce table. Dominik is able to save Liv at the last moment before JD McDonagh attacks Priest again. Rhea gets in the ring and headbutts McDonagh, then Priest hits McDonagh with a choke slam. Rhea and Damian then hug and celebrate in the ring.

Backstage, Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane)is attacked from behind by "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark and Sonya Deville, with Baszler repeatedly kicking Dakota Kai's bad knee.

Before the next match, Sonya Deville mockingly says that Dakoa Kai will not be able to compete tonight due to being "under the weather," but Iyo Sky shows up to take her place while accompanied by Kairi Sane.

Iyo Sky beats Sonya Deville after she and Kairi take out "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark on the outside.

Backstage, Ilja Dragunov tells Sami Zayn that he is an inspiring fighter and should not forget it. Sami tells Dragunov that he will make a fine champion himself. Dragunov thanks Sami and leaves, then "Main Event" Jey Uso and says Sami will get that rematch and become champion again after Sami hesitates. Sami then tells Jey that he already got the rematch from General Manager Adam Pearce, then Jey says they will soon finish their business with The Judgment Day so Sami can become a double champion.

It is announced that Seth "Freakin'" Rollins is being checked on at a local hospital and that doctors are concerned about internal bleeding.

We see VHS footage of Joe Gacy sitting in a corner in an arena as Uncle Howdy says that "we will make them all pay for their sins."

We hear from Chad Gable, who says that Wyatt Sicks found him an easy target because he lost his family, but he has now found a new one. He says that they have never seen a team like him and The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) and that they are "American made."

Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, Erick Rowan) beat Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) in a six-man tag match.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for July 8, 2024

CM Punk heads to the ring to start tonight's show. CM Punk congratulates John Cena on his retirement and thanks him for all he has done as he says that he would like one more match, then addresses Drew McIntyre. Punk mentions that McIntyre got himself suspended during the Money In The Bank post-show after shoving referees down and hitting General Manager Adam Pearce in the face with a back elbow, which caused Wade Barrett to hold McIntyre back. He says he has been trying to get his hands on McIntyre for months and teach him that there are consequences for actions and that he should not be shocked that he brought the fight back to him, and says McIntyre blew it again because he is the consequences to all his actions. He also says that McIntyre will not be champion again for as long as there is air in his lungs, and says that what he did to McInytre is nothing. He also says that he was fined $25,000 for his own actions while McIntyre got fined double that, then asks General Manager Adam Pearce to lift McIntyre's suspension, as even the fans want to see him beat McIntyre up. Seth "Freakin'" Rollins shows up instead, and dares CM Punk, who is sitting on the commentary table at this point, to come to the ring. Punk tells Rollins to watch what he says and not speak disrespectfully, and Rollins wants to know why "actions have consequences" apply to everyone in his life but himself, as he did the one thing he told Punk not to do when he came back: stick his nose in his business. Punk says that he was taking care of his own business, and while it may not mean nothing to him, but Drew McIntyre is walking around with his bracelet that reminds him of his family and he wants his pound of flesh. He says that what he was doing was personal and that he has no quarrel with Rollins, then apologizes, saying he did not mean to screw anything for him and he is snowblind with rage. Rollins says Punk always has an excuse, and just gaslights and acts like everything is his fault as Punk says he always has an answer, and Rollins calls Punk "the dumbest smart dude" he has ever met in his life. He says that Punk has yet to realize that the world does not revolve around him, and says he can be a selfish bastard and burn bridges everywhere else. He says he was willing to let the selfishness slide until Saturday, for he would be World Heavyweight Champion if it were not for him. Rollins says he is out of shots at the title and that Punk cost him the title, and now it is his turn to take from Punk. He says that if Punk doesn't care about causing collateral damage just to get to McIntyre, then he will snap his arm and put him back on the shelf.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce is met by "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, who says that he does not want to tag with Liv Morgan, despite Liv Morgan wanting the match. Adam Pearce mentions Dominik interfering in the last three Women's World title matches and tells him he is in the match, then leaves. Liv Morgan shows up and says that she made the match to make it up for him, and Dominick reluctantly reneges.

"Main Event" Jey Uso beats Chad Gable as the lights go out to signal the appearance of the Wyatts (also known as the Wyatt Sicks). After Jey hits Gable with the Spear, he Yeets and runs, leaving Gable alone in the ring as fog appears around the ring. "Abbie" shows up directly in front of Gable outside of the ring, and Gable runs down the ramp to the back. We then notice that "Abbie" has another package, which she hands to Pat McAfee.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Sheamus. After they both acknowledge what has just happened, Sheamus says it takes a long time to understand the business and put on banger after banger before "Big" Bronson Reed shows up. Bronson says everyone should be talking about him, as he has the match tonight and he is the future, while Sheamus is stuck in the past talking about his fifteenth anniversary. Sheamus says Bronson should know that interrupting him leads to an in-ring match. Bronson says he will fight him any time, just not tonight, and that Sheamus will see what he does to Pete Dunne.

Pat McAfee opens the package from earlier, which contains another VHS cassette. The cassette is taken to the production truck.

"Big" Bronson Reed beats Pete Dunne. After the match, Bronson is about to hit Dunne with another Tsunami when Sheamus shows up and brawls with Bronson, and Pete Dunne helps Sheamus set up the Brogue Kick. Sheamus embrace Dunne, but Dunne pushes him away and leaves.

Backstage, Seth "Freakin'" Rollins meets with Damian Priest alone to talk business. Priest tells Finn Balor, JD McDonagh and Carlito to head out and take care of business tonight. Rollins says it is better to be lucky than good, and Rollins says that Priest was both, and that he also kept his word. Since Priest kept his word, he will keep his. Rollins says he will not challenge him for the World Heavyweight title again for as long as he is champion, but if Priest wants to keep the World Heavyweight Championship, he must be better at SummerSlam. Priest says he kept his word, and says that since Rollins is willing to keep is, he is willing to go to war with him again; all he has to do is name the time and place. Both men shake hands, then Priest gets a phone call.

Three-time Grammy Award winner Zac Brown is seen in the crowd.

Sami Zayn heads to the ring. Sami says Bron Breakker brought everything he had, but he walked in thinking Sami was the underdog in their match and that he is no underdog anymore, as he is a champion. He says that Bron Breakker found out it is one thing to knock him down and that it is another to keep him down, then Bron Breakker shows up. Bron stare at Sami both silently and menacingly before saying he is here to look Sami in the eye and say he is the only man to beat him, and says there is no reason for him to get a rematch. He then Spears Sami from out of nowhere, even knocking him out of one of his shoes in the process, and referees and officials have to keep Bron away from Sami. Bron then manages to sneak off near the ramp and hit Sami with another Spear. Ilja Dragunov tries - and fails, thanks to security and officials - to get his hands on Bron Breakker before running up to Sami Zayn to check on him.

Backstage, as Sami Zayn is checked on in the trainer's room, Ilja Dragunov wants Bron Breakker. General Manager Adam Pearce tells Dragunov he has Bron tonight.

Before the next match, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonagh) and Carlito launch a pre-bell attack on The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth), then Braun Strowman shows up and chases The Judgment Day and Carlito around. This leads to Finn Balor and JD McDonagh getting stereo Attitude Adjustments from The Miz and R-Truth before the bell rings.

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonagh) and Carlito beat The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) and Braun Strowman in a six-man tag match after Finn Balor hits R-Truth with the Coup de Grace as R-Truth showboats.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce meets with CM Punk. Pearce says he will set up a meeting with Drew McIntyre to see if McIntyre is willing to have a match with Punk, but warns Punk that if he does not stay home and let him deal with McIntyre, the match is off. Punk agrees. Backstge, Liv Morgan says that she and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio should work on double-team moves and get on the same page if Dominik wants to beat Rey Mysterio. Liv Morgan tries to stretch Dominik's leg when Carlito and the rest of The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, JD McDonagh) show up. Liv then leaves. Priest says Dominik should have dealt with Liv Morgan and that this is not hard, and Dominik says he will deal with Liv. Priest then says he has some news he is keeping to himself and will not mention until later.

We see the contents of the VHS cassette. Bo Dallas talks about his family, who says that he took those that no one wanted - the discarded, the forgotten - and gave them a purpose. He says that they are so happy that they were remembered, as being a glutton for punishment does not make abandonment hurt any less. We see images of Joe Gacy and Erick Rowan as Bo Dallas says the captives should be set free so that they need no master. When he asked if The Wyatt Sicks are though of as sick, a voice say "Yes, we do." Bo Dallas then says "Sick is what we shall be."

Backstage, Chad Gable meets with General Manager Adam Pearce regarding the Wyatt Sicks, saying they are talking about him, but Pearce asks Gable if he has ever thought about why they are going after him. Gable says he will take care of everything his way, but he demands an apology from everyone as well as a vacation afterwards. After Gable leaves, Pearce opens his office door to find Bo Dallas.

We hear from Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane). Iyo Sky says Damage CTRL has lost control and must change. Dakota Kai says they are world-class talent and should not be pushed to the side, but tonight, that changes when they push back and show what they are capable of. Kairi Sane says change brings destruction of what was, and that tonight, they will clip Lyra Valkyria's wings and dance on Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. Iyo says they have lost control, but tonight, they take it back.

Ilja Dragunov beats Bron Breakker by disqualification after Bron throws a chair from the timekeeper's area at Dragunov. After the match, Bron attacks Dragunov some more, but Sami Zayn runs into the ring and attacks Bron before checking on Dragunov. Bron drags Sami out of the ring and throw shim around on the outside, then Dragunov and Bron brawl.

We here from Damian Priest, who says that he did not ask for Drew McIntyre and CM Punk to get involved at Money In The Bank. He asks what kind of champion has had controversy in their reign, then says there is not one. He says he walked into Money In The Bank as champion and walked out as champion, and now he looks to SummerSlam and Gunther. He looks forward to the challenge, not from Gunther, but for himself, as he wants to walk in and out as champ. He says Gunther can step up to him next week, and when all is said and done, he will go down like the rest.

It is announced that last Monday, Kofi Kingston has suffered a strain in his shoulder. We then hear from The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Akam, Rezar, Paul Ellering). Karrion Kross says Kofi Kingston will not be playing the accordion, then says that the old guard is the enemy and will make way for the new. He says that Xavier Woods defeated him while Kofi Kingston could not, then says Woods can make his own legacy or end up in the hospital with Kofi. Kross says The New Day (Kofi and Woods) is dead and that Woods is the last to realize it.

Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane) beat Lyra Valkyria, Katana Chance and Kayden Carter in a six-woman tag match. After the match, Damage CTRL is attacked by "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, Shayna Baszler and - amazingly - Sonya Deville. Zoey tells Iyo that she cost her everything at Money In The Bank before Iyo is laid out.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Zelina Vega and Rey Mysterio. Zelina says that if it were not for "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, she would be a champion, and that both Liv Morgan and Dominik know that. She says they are a hot mess and will be more of a mess after tonight. Rey says teaming with Zelina will be a pleasure and that they will show Liv and Dominik up tonight when they end this story.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark and Sonya Deville. Shayna says they are the ones who run the women's division. Zoey says they are done waiting and have been screwed twice by people who cannot lace their boots. Sonya says she has been helping them to see their full potential as the killers they can be, and that Damage CTRL is the start. She says that they are here and that there is nothing anyone can do. The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) show up and says that as long as they are tag team champions, they run the division.

We hear from Gunther, who says that there is a reason why he is feared, as he has learned that all that matters in life is winning. He says that WWE lacked a powerful figure and had no choice but to call his name, and that WWE needed him, not the other way around. He says that he embraced NXT UK as his battleground, and saw nothing but children chasing their fantasies. It was then that he realized that he enjoyed making people miserable as he restored honor and prestige to professional wrestling, which he says is on the line at SummerSlam.

Liv Morgan and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio beat The Latino World Order (Zelina Vega and Rey Mysterio) after Liv Morgan trips Rey Mysterio off the top turnbuckle and onto the top rope, allowing Dominik to hit the top rope splash and finally get a win against his father. At one point in the match, Rey trips Dominik, which sends him flying head-first into Liv's crotch as Liv lies prone in the corner, much to Liv's delight. After the match, Liv celebrates with Dominik, first with the both of them hugging each other as they caught in the moment, then with Liv jumping on top of Dominik, putting him in yet another compromising position, then Rhea Ripley suddenly returns. Liv hightails it out of there through the crowd, then Rhea gets in the ring and tells Dom "Mami's back." Dom tries to hug Rhea, but Rhea is having none of it.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for June 24, 2024

The Miz replaces Pat McAfee on commentary this week.

Drew McIntyre suddenly heads to the ring to start tonight's show. McIntyre brags about what he did to CM Punk on last week's SmackDown and even asks for a replay. McIntyre says he prayed for this and that "the big man made it happen...me." He then proclaims he is done with the "CM Punk" chanters, as they are chanting in his memory after everything Punk had done to him. He then proclaims that the "CM Punk" chanters are dead to him and do not exist before addressing Punk, hoping that he is uncomfortable, in pain and being fed through a straw after what he did to him. McIntyre claims that he not only took his dignity, but also a friendship bracelet with his dog Larry's name as well as AJ Lee's name, and mocks the bracelet as well as its meaning, saying Punk is now alone and in pain because of him. McIntyre then declares for the men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match, hoping Punk watches alone, in pain and in misery. He then says that he was once alone, but no longer, as he wears the bracelet, as he has Punk's family in his corner now and he will win and cash in to become World Heavyweight Champion in spite of Punk.

Chad Gable is surrounded by security as he heads into the arena, and he does not want a camera pointed at him.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley reports that Chad Gable's dressing room is secured both inside and outside, and that others find it shocking that Gable is even here tonight after the end-of-show attack from last week.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Ludwig Kaiser. Kaiser says Bron Breakker may be strong, explosive and fast, but he will prove that he is destined for greatness and that Bron Breakker "is no Ludwig Kaiser."

Bron Breakker vs. Ludwig Kaiser ends with Kaiser being smacked out of nowhere by Sheamus on the outside. After the match, Sheamus goes for a powerbomb through the announce table, but he gets hit with a Spear by Bron Breakker.

Backstage at The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) clubhouse, everyone is playing WWE 2K24 on a PlayStation 5. Dominik Mysterio mentions that it is all a gift from Liv Morgan, then Dominik shows Priest something on his phone which proves that Liv Morgan has his phone number (and is implied to be Liv's nudes). Priest tells Dominik that he has to find a way to end things with Liv Morgan tonight. Dominik leaves, then Priest mentions that they still have a Braun Strowman problem and also leaves. Finn Balor tells Carlito and JD McDonagh that they have to take care of Strowman tonight.

Backstage, Bron Breakker forcefully meets with General Manager Adam Pearce and mentions that he is sick of other people getting involved in his match, and mentions that he also wants a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Suddenly, Sami Zayn shows up, wanting the time and place. Breakker picks Money In The Bank, and Sami tells Pearce to tell Breakker that he has his match. Breakker tells Sami he will destroy him, then walks off.

Lyra Valkyria beats Kairi Sane and "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler in a Triple Threat Match to qualify for the women's Money In The Bank Ladder Match after Lyra rolls out of the Kirifuda Clutch and Kairi hits Baszler with the In-Sane Elbow, which allows Lyra to hit Kairi with Nightwing to qualify.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce tells Drew McIntyre that he is not deserving of anything after being disruptive on both Raw and SmackDown and that he will have to earn his way to a World title shot, but McIntyre says that Pearce will do the right thing or else he will know the meaning of disruption. As McIntyre leaves, the camera then focuses on Liv Morgan, who heads to the ring.

It is announced that Royal Rumble 2025, SummerSlam 2025 and WrestleMania 42 in 2026 will be at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Tyrese Haliburton is seen in the front row.

Liv Morgan is in the ring. Liv Morgan is in the ring. She calls out "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio to get his attention, hoping that she enjoyed the gifts she gave him and the text she sent him even more. She says that Dominik is playing hard to get, but when Dominik is honest with himself and realizes he wants her, she has more in store for him. Liv says that Rhea Ripley never sent Dominik any gifts, then says Dominik can thank her for the gifts so she can give him one more in front of the fans. Zelina Vega shows up and says she has the gift of shutting Liv Morgan up, then says she does not understand why Liv is interested in "Rhea Ripley's sloppy seconds" before proclaiming she is out here for championship gold. Liv says she has not forgotten about the Women's World Championship and that she put Rhea Ripley into early retirement to get it, and that it means more to her than anything. Zelina says Liv is more focused on having fun, and that Liv schemed for championship opportunities while she starved for hers. Zelina then dares Liv to put her title on the line tonight, and Liv says she will do it next week. Zelina says she is not waiting for next week as Liv calls for Dominik, then Dominik shows up. Dominik says he did not like the gifts before Liv asks Dominik if he liked her text as she helps him into the ring. Zelina asks what is going on as she pretends to throw up in her mouth, then says Liv did not have to put her man in her way if she was afraid to fight. Dominik says he is not Liv's man, and tells Zelina that if she is going to fight for the Women's World Championship, then she wants to help. He knows that Zelina and Rhea Ripley have had their differences, but he would rather see anyone but Liv with the Women's World title. As Zelina is clearly not buying this and telling Dominik she does not need his help, Liv attacks Zelina. Rey Mysterio suddenly shows up and pulls Liv off of Zelina. Dominik then shoves Rey, which turns Liv on before Dominik leaves. Liv then follows Dominik to the back.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley is reporting from outside Chad Gable's dressing room. He says that Gable has been medically attended to when General Manager Adam Pearce shows up from inside the dressing room. He says Gable is shaken up, but is medically cleared to compete and focused on tonight's match. As for last week's attack, Pearce says it is not his story to tell and that Gable is not ready to tell it yet.

Backstage, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio wants nothing to do with Liv Morgan, who thanks Dominik for being her hero against "his deadbeat dad" Rey Mysterio. After Dominik leaves, R-Truth shows up and says reluctant heroes like "Tom and Nick Mysterio" are the best kinds of heroes, and Liv gets the idea of helping Dom get a match against Rey next week. She also wants to get a tag team title match for Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, and despite R-Truth not liking JD, R-Truth says he can make it happen. After Liv leaves, R-Truth mentions that he thinks Liv is Carmella. The Miz then has to run backstage from the commentary table to talk sense into R-Truth backstage.

Before the next match, Chad Gable asks the fans if they believe in miracles, then says the news of his demise was greatly exaggerated. Gable states that while he was left for dead by "a bunch of monsters," "Chad Gable cannot be killed," and he has decided in a show of bravery to face two more monsters and become "Master In The Bank."

Chad Gable beats "Big" Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman in a Triple Threat Match to qualify for the men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match after The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) and Carlito attack Strowman on the outside to allow Gable to hit Bronson with a top rope moonsault to win and qualify. After the match, the lights start going out little by little, Bray Wyatt stile, with Chad Gable standing in the middle of the ring as fog forms around the mat. "Abbie" shows up from underneath the ring and corners Gable, and Gable is able to slide out of the ring. "Abbie" then crawls out of the ring and places a box in front of Michael Cole at the announce table before leaving through the crowd.

After the break, it is announced that the box handed to Michael Cole earlier is addressed to Pat McAfee, who is not here tonight. Michael Cole opens the box and finds a VHS tape with the words "Play Me" on the side label.

Backstage, Chad Gable meets with Alpha Academy (Otis, Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa), and tells them that his life flashed before his eyes last week and that he has been wrong for the last two months, which he admits have been rough, and apologizes. Gable says families fight, but family sticks together. Otis says anyone who hurts Tozawa or Maxxine is not family, and that they are done. Maxxine tells Gable that he put them through a lot, but he really hurt Otis. She then says that they are all glad that he is okay, and that Otis just needs some time before telling Gable that he will talk to Otis. Afterwards, Chad Gable is met by Ivy Nile and The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed), and Gable tells them that he is not okay and that he needs help.

The Unholy Union (Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre) beat Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. After the match, Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane) attacks both teams, then Iyo Sky hits Alba and Isla with Over The Moonsault.

Backstage, Damian Priest finds Liv Morgan leaving the Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Priest, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) clubhouse, then finds Finn Balor on the Sony PlayStation 5. Finn tells Priest that thanks to Liv, Dominik has a match with Rey Mysterio next week, while he and JD McDonagh have a World Tag Team title shot tonight.

Backstage, The Miz catches up with R-Truth and finds out that the World Tag Team title match is official and that R-Truth says he "did it for love." The Miz says it is more about them and their titles, but R-Truth says he only loves Miz as a friend.

Damian Priest heads to the ring. Priest says he understands why Seth "Freakin'" Rollins sees himself in him, then says he sees a man who he does not want to become in Rollins. He says he does not want to see someone who is his successor, and while Rollins is great, but as long as he remains World Champion, Rollins will never see the mountaintop again. Rollins then shows up and heads to the ring, then says tonight is still his show before addressing Priest's claims that he will never be champion again for as long as Priest himself is champion, saying he does not believe him. Rollins thinks that Priest has "a false bravado" and "does not believe the bullcrap that is coming out of [his] mouth," and says the fans do not buy Priest as World champion because his words do not match with his actions. He says that Priest has stated that he does not need help, but in both of his title defenses, he really needed that help. Priest says he gets where Rollins is coming from, and while he did not ask for help, people got involved. He says he cannot change what happened, but he can stand at the present holding the world title while Rollins represents the past and holds nothing. Rollins says "For now." Rollins then says he is not here to run Priest down, as he has respect for him, then says he does not like being one-upped and that he is here to one-up Priest, as he wants to sweeten the pot at Money In The Bank. Rollins says this is more akin to a "side bet" or "gentlemen's agreement," and says that if Priest can beat him, he will get his wish and he will never challenge for the title again. However, if he were to win, they get to find out once and for all if Priest can stand on his own two feet, and Priest will have no choice but to leave The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Priest, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh). Rollins says that if this were to happen, we would see if Priest really could walk a mile in his shoes. Priest laughs, and says that to him, The Judgment Day needs him more than he needs them, and as Rollins' agreement goes, he accepts. Priest and Rollins shake hands, then Gunther arrives to the ring and says he fully understands that a lot is on the line, then wishes good luck to both men and says he cannot wait to see their match and hopes the better man wins. He then says that at SummerSlam, the better man will become the lesser man in the ring with him. Gunther then leaves.

We see the contents of the VHS cassette tape. We see Uncle Howdy asks someone if they are happy and if they are lost, and if they feel as though they have been forgotten. He also asks if they remember who they are, then we see Bo Dallas, who says "I am nobody." Uncle Howdy then asks Bo Dallas how he felt when Bray Wyatt died, and Bo says the most important thing in his life was taken away from him. He also says that he felt nothing was ever going to matter again, and Uncle Howdy asks Bo if he thinks that he is exploiting his brother's legacy. Bo says that all he ever wanted in his whole life was to be like his brother, as he looked up to him and wanted to be next to him. He says that they were going to rule together, and they had it, and then it was taken away from him, and nobody feels more hurt or feels what he feels than him. Bo says that he had to be a mausoleum so that everyone would remember what Bray stood for and believed, but everyone wanted to forget about "all of us." He says that they made them all remember, then Uncle Howdy laughs and says "Yes, we did."

Karrion Kross beats Kofi Kingston after the rest of The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) attack Xavier Woods backstage, which distracts Kofi and allows Kross to hit the Final Prayer for the win.

It is announced that Randy Orton, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, Jacob Fatu) in a six-man tag match is official for Money In The Bank.

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonagh) beat The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) to become the World Tag Team Champions! Liv Morgan shows up during the match to watch from ringside. Later on, Braun Strowman shows up after Carlito puts McDonagh's foot on the bottom rope to save the match to chase Carlito through the crowd. Later on, after R-Truth hits Finn and McDonagh with a double Five Knuckle Shuffle, Liv Morgan distracts R-Truth while McDonagh distracts the referee, then rams R-Truth throat first into the top rope. This allows Finn Balor to hit R-Truth with the Coup de Grace to win the match and the titles. After the match, Liv celebrates with Finn and McDonagh.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 20, 2024

Sami Zayn heads to the ring to start tonight's show. He says that King and Queen of the Ring is five days away and that he finds himself in a match with "Big" Bronson Reed and Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship, and he has two issues on his hand that he wants to deal with at the same time. Sami mentions the personal issue that is Chad Gable suplexing him out of his wife's arms in front of his father and how he has an ass kicking coming his way, and an issue with "Big" Bronson Reed wanting his title. He says that he is the soul while Gable is the mind and Bronson is the body, and he is betting on soul over mind and body in this match and would do so every single time, as soul is what got him to beating Gunther to become champion and what will keep him champion. Alpha Academy (Chad Gable, Otis, Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa) shows up, and Chad Gable says that he coached Zayn - not manipulated him - into becoming champion, then says he has too nice to Sami and way too nice to the rest of Alpha Academy. He calls Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa and Otis failures for not getting anything done last week, with Gable calling Otis "the biggest disappointment on the planet." Sami Zayn asks the rest of Alpha Academy how much longer they will deal with Gable's crap, and Gable accuses Sami of driving a wedge between them when they have rededicating themselves. He also says he is sick and tired of hearing Sami talk about his heart and soul, and while he does not have to pin him to win the Intercontinental Championship, he wants to, as he wants to take his soul. Sami says that is all well and good, but that is in five days, and last he checked, he and Gable are scheduled for one-on-one competition tonight and they are both dressed for competition, so they might as well do it right now.

Chad Gable beats Sami Zayn. During the match, Gable gives Maxxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa opportunties to attack Sami on the outside, but they cannot bring themselves to do it. Otis cannot bring himself to do it at the first opportuinity, and Gable slaps him and takes the Intercontinental Championship into the ring with him to use as a weapon. Sami hits Gable with the Exploder, but Otis clocks Sami in the corner before he can hit the Helluva Kick. Gable then hits Sami with Chaos Theory for the win. Before the mid-match commercial break, we see another QR code, and it is briefly addressed after the match.

We hear from Iyo Sky, who says that she has dominated against everyone since she has arrived and has become a world champion, but now she is ready for her crown. She says that once she is queen, everyone will have no choice but to bow down, especially Lyra Valkyria. She says Lyra is soaring now, but she has flown too close to the sun and that she will fall in her domain for she is "The Genius of the Sky" and soon to be Queen of the Ring.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Alpha Academy (Chad Gable, Otis, Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa). All of a sudden, a loud metallic clang is heard, and it is revealed that Cruz del Toro has been attacked.

Bron Breakker quickly beats Kale Dixon by referee stoppage after Breakker uses being passed over for the King of the Ring Tournament to psych himself up. After the match, Bron Breakker almost hits Dixon with the ring steps after hitting him with another Spear, but he puts the steps down. Dixon ends up leaning against the steps as he is down, and Breakker then takes a metal folding chair and smacks it on Dixon's head as he lays his head on the ring steps.

We see footage of Kale Dixon being taken out on a stretcher and into an ambulance. General Manager Adam Pearce then confronts Bron Breakker, who says that he cannot be controlled and that this is on him for not putting him in the King of the Ring Tournament.

Backstage, Lyra Valkyria is met by Becky Lynch. Becky gets Lyra motivated before her semifinal match.

Lyra Valkyria beats Iyo Sky to advance to the finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament after Iyo tries to counter Nightwing with a Sunset Flip only for Lyra to win with a sit-down pin. After the match, Jackie Redmond tries to interview Lyra Valkyria, but Iyo Sky says something to Lyra and leaves. Lyra says that she did not imagine getting this far or beating Iyo Sky in a wrestling match, and that one must believe they can get the job done.

Backstage, R-Truth is seen talking with New Catch Republic when The Miz tells him that they are at a disadvantage tonight against The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonagh). R-Truth says he has talked to Andre The Giant and that Andre has their back. Miz says that Andre passed away more than 30 years ago, then looks up and says that Andre is needed in spirit tonight. R-Truth asks Miz who he is talking to, then says "And people think that I'm crazy!"

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Ilja Dragunov, who thinks that there is no shame in losing to Jey Uso before bringing up Gunther. Ricochet shows up and says that it is not over because he got the best of him one time. Suddenly, Ricochet is Speared through a road crate by Bron Breakker.

Medical staff checks on Ricochet backstage.

In footage from earlier today, Gunther says that Jey Uso turned himself into the hottest thing going since he made fun of him, and that tonight, the arena will be full of people filling Jey full of hope and delusion. He says he is in the business of stealing that hope and dragging people back into reality, and that tonight will be all about who the better professional wrestler is when the bell rings. He says Jey may be the most exciting showman in this business today, but he is superior to him in the ring, and after the final bell, everyone will embrace him. He says that he is the general of the ring, and soon to be the king.

Backstage, Damian Priest checks on The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh), then says he has heard what Carlito did to Cruz del Toro earlier. When Carlito says he is laying low, Damian says The Judgment Day is not his personal protection, and tells him that he has to earn his keep. After Finn Balor tells Damian Priest that he can't help but think it should be the both of them tonight but understands that Damian is the champion now, Carlito then asks Damian if he saw the New York Knicks game, to which Damian replies "What is wrong with you?"

We see footage of Baron Corbin throwing the first ball of the PBA Playoffs and awarding playoffs championship David Krol an Undisputed WWE Championship belt.

Backstage, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark are met by Sonya Deville, who has not been seen in months. Sonya wants to speak with them, but Shayna is not interested.

The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) retain the World Tag Team Championships against The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonagh) after Braun Strowman throws Carlito, who has shown up earlier in the match to help The Judgment Day cheat to win, into the barricade before chasing McDonagh back into the ring and into an Attitude Adjustment. The Awesome Truth celebrate with Braun Strowman after the match.

Backstage, Becky Lynch congratulates Lyra Valkyria on making it to the finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament, as does Liv Morgan, who then hits Lyra with a cheap shot.

Backstage, Sami Zayn is met by "Big" Bronson Reed, who tells him that he should not be concerned with Chad Gable and his mind games, as he is soulless and he makes his money through violence. He says he will use his body as a weapon and get his biggest payday yet. Bronson leaves, then Sami runs into Otis, and says he is better than what he did tonight and that he should be ashamed of himself. Otis apologizes, and Sami says he has been in his shoes before and tells him that the sooner he stops listening to Gable and starts listening to the fans, the better.

Becky Lynch heads to the ring. Becky says that she will be facing Liv Morgan in five days and that while they have wrestled before, Liv has never beaten her. She then says she is dealing with a different Liv who is picking fights and wanting revenge, then Liv shows up. Liv accuses Becky of gaslighting the fans and making her look like the bad guy, then says she does not care about the rest of the women's division, much less Becky, and only cares about getting her revenge against Rhea Ripley. Becky says Liv has finally found a purpose after ten years while she has had one since she was fifteen years old and has even written a book about it, and that she wants to leave WWE better than she found it. She then asks Liv what she will do after she gets her revenge, and Liv calls Becky "delusional" and says she is embarrassed for her as she only cares herself and not the fans or breaking barriers or glass ceilings. Liv also says the fans have their heads buried so far up Becky's ass that they cannot hear her, then thanks Becky for asking a question and not making it about herself and says that after she gets revenge, she will sit at the top of the women's division as champion. Becky says the fans know Liv is lying and that the fans cannot be tricked, and that they know that she always gives her best for them. She also says she is looking for a fight, and is Liv thinks she is worthy of being champion, then she can fight her right now. Liv teases getting in the ring with Becky, then says she will do the smart thing and wait until their title match to fight her and become the new Women's World Champion.

Backstage, Damian Priest is disappointed with the rest of The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) and Carlito, then tells JD McDonagh to ask for a match with Braun Strowman next week before saying he does not recognize the group anymore. Damian leaves, then Finn says the wheels have fallen off and that they need to get back on track.

Backstage, Xavier Woods finds out that he is cleared for competition. Kofi Kingston says they are ready for tag team competition, then goes out to look for Geneal Manager Adam Pearce when Karrion Kross and Scarlett show up to give them their support, saying there is always time to turn things around.

"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark beat the team of Maxxine Dupri and Ivy Nile, Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and Kairi Sane) and the team of Katana Chance and Kayden Carter in a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match to become #1 contenders for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Ludwig Kaiser. Kaiser says Gunther has proven several times that he is superior in the ring, and hopes that Jey Uso takes the loss better than Sheamus did. He then says that Sheamus is nothing but "a keyboard warrior" and that he will either stay home to protect his legacy or come back to the ring so that he himself can put him down. Kaiser leaves, then Drew McIntyre shows up and says that he will give the fans Drew McIntyre, then says that Damian Priest is spreading himself thin and tells him to focus on the World Championship before he eventually beats him for it.

Backstage, Chad Gable chats with The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) when Otis shows up. The Creed Brothers leave, and Otis says he has apologized to Sami Zayn. Gable sees this as Otis playing mind games with Sami, then tells him he has everything ready for him for King and Queen of the Ring so that they can win "his" Intercontinental Championship together.

Backstage, "Main Event" Jey Uso says tonight is the night and that there is no tomorrow, as this is the semifinals of the King of the Ring Tournament. He says he almost had Gunther last time, and tonight, he will finish the job.

Gunther beats "Main Event" Jey Uso with a sleeper hold to advance to the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament after Jey nearly takes out referee Chad Patton after knocking Gunther into him with a Spear.

Becky Lynch heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Becky talks about how tonight's show is the same venue where she stood in the stands with her face bloodied six years ago and how she is Women's World Champion six years later, then addresses the WWE Draft. She says there is a new women's division waiting in the wings and that it has taken her two years to become a champion again, and that she intends to hold on to her championship while also defending it. Becky says she needs a number one contender and that she only gets better by fighting the best, then Liv Morgan shows up. Liv says that if Becky needs a new number one contender, she is here, and while she does not expect to be handed a title opportunity, she cannot help but feel Becky owes her one because she took out Rhea Ripley. Liv also says that this is her revenge tour, and that they both know that she would always be the endgame and that she will not stop until she gets everything that she wants. Becky admits Liv is right, but she says that Liv would be holding the Women's World Championship if not for her. All of a sudden, Nia Jax shows up. Nia says that she dominated both Liv and Becky last week and that she should be should be champion, and the only reason that she is not is because they both teamed up to prevent that. She then says that she has since been drafted to "the superior show" SmackDown and that she will soon be champion there, but since tonight is her last night on Raw, if she has to leave, she will take one of them with her. Liv wastes no time drop kicking Nia off the ring apron and tells her that if she is issuing a challenge, then she accepts.

Before Logan Paul can say much else, Jey Uso shows up and says he can beat Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship before saying he can beat Logan Paul. Logan Paul says that he has been "yeeting" since 2017 and thinks it is absurd that Jey is trying to outroast him, then JD McDonagh and Finn Balor show up to help Logan surround Jey Uso. After Logan says that the only two words in Jey's vocabulary are "Yeet" and "Uce," Jey Uso tries to fight Finn and McDonagh only to get ganged up on, then Logan gets three Super Bowl rings from Patrick Mahomes to use as knuckles. McDonagh holds down Jey Uso, but Jey Uso dodges and McDonagh gets nailed instead. Jey laughs at McDonagh, but he still gets ganged up on by Finn and Logan. All od a sudden, Braun Strowman shows up for the first time in months. Strowman choke slams Finn Balor, then chases Logan Paul away. He then confronts Patrick Mahomes, but Jey Uso holds him back.

As he wants to know what will happen next for The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) and CM Punk, Drew McIntyre shows up and is incensed that CM Punk is drafted ahead of him and that Booker T's opinion of CM Punk has changed.

Backstage, Drew McIntyre is still looking for CM Punk, and he finds out the skybox is empty, save for an autographed photo of Punk. Drew then finds out that Punk is heading to the ring. CM Punk says he will not waste time and cut his promo in less time than McIntyre was World Heavyweight Champion, then says he has McIntyre's attention for quite some time and is like an ex-girlfriend he cannot get rid of. He says that McIntyre has given him purpose, and that he was drafted ahead of him because of pure wrestling economics and that he is the best in the world in the ring and on the microphone. He says that losers hope and wait for things to happen while winners make things happen, and that when he is cleared, he will make McIntyre's life a living hell.

The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) retain the World Tag Team Championships against Alpha Academy (Otis and Akira Tozawa).

Backstage, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) is disappointed that they are a fourth round pick. JD McDonagh reveals the bruise to the face that Logan Paul accidentally gave him.

Backstage, Liv Morgan is met by Becky Lynch. Becky congratulates Liv on her win, and tells her that she has earned her title shot. Suddenly, Damage CTRL shows up and surrounds Becky Lynch, and Dakota Kai tells Becky that they will see her on Monday.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for April 22, 2024

Michael Cole and Pat McAfee are in the ring to start tonight's show. They announce that there will be a battle royal to determine a new Women's World Champion in tonight's main event, then we see a video package of Rhea Ripley being forced to vacate the Women's World title due to injury last week.

"Main Event" Jey Uso heads to the ring. He says that Backlash is in two weeks and he has a lot to prove, and as he says that he to prove himself and beat Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship, Priest shows up and heads to the ring. Priest compliments Jey Uso on his presentation, then brings up the one night that Jey whupped him so bad that he went up to him in the locker room and told him that he earned his respect, and then the two of them went out for drinks. He almost mentions Jey telling him "We next, Uce," and tells him that he was right and that he is proud to stand in the ring with him. He then corrects himself, saying Jay was half-right and that he ended up being next with the World Heavyweight Championship proving it and showing why he is "now." Priest says that Jey is the first person thrown in the machine to make him look good with the World Heavyweight Championship, as well as the first to lead the fans into rising for "Le Campeon." As Priest leaves, Jey tells him to wait, then asks if Priest sees him as "just another tag team guy" before saying Priest is only leader of The Judgment Day because Rhea Ripley got hurt. He also calls Priest "Dominik Mysterio's bitch" before saying Priest did what he did to become World Heavyweight Championship, and that Priest is being fed to him and that he will be the next World Heavyweight Champion. All of a sudden, JD McDonagh tries to attack Jey Uso from behind, but Jey sees him coming and tries to superkick him only to hit Priest.

The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) retain the World Tag Team Championships against #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa). Tommaso Ciampa refuses to shake hands after the match in the post-match sign of respect.

Backstage, as Damian Priest is irritated with JD McDonagh, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio shows up wearing a sling, stating that he has asked Santos Escobar, who is with him, to take his place in tonight's tag team match. Priest tells Santos to handle his business before Santos leaves, then demands that Dominik and McDonagh do the same.

Shawn Michaels announces that Battleground will take place to UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci) heads to the ring. Gunther says he took some time away to digest what happened at WrestleMania, and states that for 666 days, he elevated the WWE Intercontinental Championship to heights never seen before and became the greatest champion in its history. He says that his name will forever be embedded in the history of the Intercontinental Championship, but that also means that for almost two years, he walked around with a big target on his back while living up to high expectations. Gunther says that weight has been lifted off his shoulders before he thanks Sami Zayn, then says that he is not a target and is going from being the hunted to being the hunter and being able to do whatever he wants. He says that this is a brand new era, and whatever happens, he will embed his name into this new era. As a result, he has declared his participation in the King of the Ring Tournament. Gunther then says that after this, it is up to him to decide which title to take next in WWE, then gives fair warning that the champions of WWE will be hunted and challenged by someone who is able to win titles, but hold them longer than anybody else. He says that he is already general of the ring, and soon to be King of the Ring. Suddenly, The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) shows up, and while Kofi agrees with Gunther that it is a new era, there is nobody better than The New Day to usher it in. Xavier Woods mentions that he is the reigning and defending King of the Ring, which makes Gunther a usurper and pretender to his throne, and that he plans to cement his legacy by becoming two-time King of the Ring. Gunther says that after he wins King of the Ring, he will re-establish the image of the tournament, and Xavier Woods will be remembered for pretending to be a champion as well as a king. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston remind Gunther that he used to be champion and make fun of him for it. Gunther says this is beneath him, and sics Kaiser and Vinci on them. Woods says they have already fought so many times, but if the fans want it, they will gladly beat them. Gunther then watches the next match from ringside.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) beat Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci). Gunther gets angry and walks off after the match, disappointed in Kaiser and Vinci. Kaiser helps Vinci up and out of the ring, and when both of them are out of the ring, Kaiser shoves Vinci into the LED board of the ring and spits on him before taking out his anger out on him and attacking him further. Officials eventually show up to stop Kaiser from attacking Vinci on the ring steps, and Kaiser is escorted to the back. Kaiser soon turns around, makes a beeline back to Vinci, and drop kicks him. When Kaiser makes his way back to the back, Gunther is waiting for him, and he is pleased with Kaiser's results.

We see a vignette for Andrade. He says to be careful when you hear about somebody, as you may hear it from the problem. He says that he is not somebody's fool, then asks how you can pressure someone when they were not loyal from the beginning. He says The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) did not want a business partner; they wanted a servant, and nobody tells him what to do. Andrade says that he is now The Judgment Day's biggest problem.

Drew McIntyre heads to the ring. McIntyre shows irritation with the fans chanting for CM Punk every time he comes out, saying that CM Punk actually hates the fans and hates himself more than he hates them. After making fun of the fans' love lives, he refrains from complaining about what happened at WrestleMania and the Raw afterwards, even though he calls everyone involved "cowards," and says he will come back swinging and become King of the Ring. Before he can say much else, Sheamus shows up and calls McIntyre out for not taking accountability for his own mistakes, saying it makes McIntyre a coward. He says that McIntyre finally got his live WrestleMania moment in front of fans and family only to blow it over some social media spat, and that McIntyre should be standing in the ring as World Champion, but threw it all away over a meme and a spat. Sheamus says they are friends and have been up and down the road together, then tells him the hard truth: a one-armed CM Punk kicked his arse. McIntyre says Sheamus knows better than anybody what CM Punk did to him, but Sheamus tells him that his obsession is destroying his career and he needs to get it out of his head. McIntyre says that before Sheamus got injured, it was banger after banger, but since he has returned, it looks like "burger after burger after burger" in reference to Sheamus' appearance during his return last week. Sheamus laughs and admits McIntyre has been getting good with the one-liners, and says that while he can lose the weight, McIntyre "can't lose stupid." He tells McIntyre to stop blaming everyone else for his mistakes, but McIntyre says it is everybody else and that they were joking about his weight while he stuck up for him as a friend. He says that he is past fighting over a couple of pints and would rather fight over something worthwhile, and that this is not worthwhile. He then says he will watch Sheamus' back in the next match from ringside.

Sheamus beats Shinsuke Nakamura.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Sami Zayn. Sami says he is angry and hurt, and while he has a lot to say right now, he is holding his tongue, as Chad Gable is showing up to explain his actions from last week. Suddenly, "Big" Bronson Reed shows up behind him and tells him to forget Gable, as he has bigger problems to deal with. Sami says that if he wants a shot at the Intercontinental Championship, he can have it any time and any place. When Sami continues his interview, Bronson Reed blindsides him. Officials back Bronson away from Sami, but Bronson gets the last word by attacking Sami again.

Alpha Academy (Chad Gable, Otis, Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa) heads to the ring. Chad Gable says that after what happened to Sami Zayn backstage, it is safe to say that Sami has had a rough couple of weeks. He also says that what he did to Sami was justified. He says that what happened last week was good enough for him, but not for Sami, and when Sami placed the Intercontinental Championship, he took it on the chin and gave Sami his moment, but it was not enough, and he had to celebrate with his wife. Gable says that Sami knew that should have been his moment and it should have been him celebrating with his daughter at WrestleMania, but he was wasting his time training Sami Zayn and "a bunch of freakin' losers." Gable dares Tozawa to say something if he has a problem, as he has a problem with him doing his dance and racking up losses. He also calls Maxxine "pretty as a princess, but dumb as a box of rocks" as he gave her everything and got nothing in return. He then chews out Otis, saying that he has proven himself beyond a shadow of a doubt to be the biggest disappointment of them all. He then says that they signed up for honest feedback and cannot be upset with him for this. Gable then says that they will all win his Intercontinental Championship and that they will all help him no matter what. Otis says "No matter what" when forced to by Gable, with little conviction.

Backstage, Ricochet is met by "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, who says that he is lucky that he is not cleared tonight. Ricochet says there is nobody more upset than him not being cleared than him, and that he and Andrade have to settle for Santos Escobar and JD McDonagh. Ricochet then mentions their Speed match this Wednesday where he proves to embarrass him again. Dominik mocks Ricochet as he leaves, then runs into Liv Morgan.

Backstage, we hear from Nia Jax, who says that "thirteen females and one monster" will be in tonight's battle royal, and that she is the monster. She says she will terrorize every single one of them and eliminate them one by one until she is the last woman standing and Women's World Champion.

Ricochet and Andrade beat Santos Escobar and JD McDonagh. After the match, Damian Priest attacks Andrade and Ricochet from behind, with Ricochet getting the Razor's Edge before Andrade gets South of Heaven. Afterwards, Priest gets angry with Dominik and McDonagh, saying they need him, not the other way around.

We hear from Zoey Stark, who says it has been a year since she was drafted to Raw, but instead of staying in the corner and being patient, she beat Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch, came close to winning Money In The Bank and the Women's World Championship. She says that it has been a hell of a year, and that she is just getting started.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae. Candice says they are not here to defend their victories before a brawl been Nia Jax and Liv Morgan explodes nearby and has to be stopped by officials. Becky Lynch shows up and thanks Jackie for covering things before taking over her job, then gets the fans fired up for the women's battle royal for the World Women's Championship, and stops to tell Maxxine Dupri to prove that her first battle royal will not be her last. She says that when Rhea Ripley is ready, she will be waiting, then says she is here for a fight before heading to the ring.

Becky Lynch last eliminates Liv Morgan in a fourteen-woman over-the-top battle royal to become the Women's World Champion! After the match, Becky celebrates in the crowd to end the show.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for April 8, 2024

WWE Chief Content Office Paul "Triple H" Levesque heads to the ring to start tonight's show. As the crowd chants "Thank You, Hunter!", Triple H says he is here to thank the fans for making something very special happen, and he can now really tell them that WrestleMania 40 was the greatest of all time by every single metric and standard, and according to the fans. Triple H thanks the fans, and after welcoming everyone to tonight's show, he welcomes everyone to a new time and a new era, and he introduces the man who will lead everyone into the new era: "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes. Cody and Triple H shake hands, then Triple H raises Cody's hand. The crowd chants "You deserve it!" to Cody, and Triple H congratulates Cody to ending one of the greatest reigns of all time, headlining the greatest WrestleMania, and bringing 20,000 people to last night's show. Triple H then mentions that some friends of Cody's who work in the back have prepared something special for Cody, which he will now share with everyone. We then see a video package celebrating Cody's path to the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Cody tears up during the video package, and Triple H and Cody hug. The crowd chants "You deserve it!" once again, and Cody lays the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the middle of the ring and kneels down to kiss it. Cody asks ring announcer Samantha Irvin to declare him the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, which she does, then talks about he laid his goals - which have now become reality - out two years ago. He then says that if the air feels a little thin, it is because everyone is standing on top of the mountain, and that he acknowledges Roman Reigns' accomplishments and calls him "one of the most important Superstars of our generation." The fans chant "Thank you, Roman!" before Cody states that he was destined to defeat Roman, then talks about his "why" for doing what he does, then shows video of one of his main "whys," his daughter. He wants her to know that when he goes to work, he goes to work in the main event, and when he is fighting, he is no longer fighting as challenger, but instead as champion. He admits that this has been a difficult predicament, for after standing in line, the line is now for him. Cody re-introduces himself, saying he was once undesirable, then undeniable, and now Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Suddenly, The Rock shows up and heads to the ring, and the fans call him a "mother hater." The Rock tries to speak, but he gets booed as he puts the microphone near his mouth. The fans then chant "Shut the fuck up!" and "Rocky sucks!" When The Rock says he is a lot of things and that "sucks" is not one of them, the fans chant "It don't matter" and "asshole" before trying to boo him out of the building again. The Rock says he came here to deliver flowers to Cody and announce that Philadelphia broke another record for the gathering of trailer park trash. He then dares the fans to chant "Shut the fuck up!" again. As expected, the fans chant it again, but the fans cheer again when Cody raises up his championship. The Rock then raises up his People's Championship belt only to get booed. The Rock then says he came out here to give Cody his flowers and tells Cody he did it. He says that the fans can chant what they want, then says Cody beat Roman and finished his story even after all that he did to him. He says that Cody's mother is and should be proud of him and that his father Dusty Rhodes would be too, as he cites Dusty as one of his heroes and how their fathers were good friends up and down the road before stating he does not care what his own father would think of him now.The Rock mentions how his belt means a lot of him as much as Cody's does to him, then asks if there is any way The Rock can hold on to that title, as he has grown up in show business but has never held the Undisputed title. The Rock thanks Cody before the two of them swap championship belts again, saying it means a lot, then announces that he "has to go away for a little while now." He says that as much as he does not want to and after how he and Cody made wrestilng cool again, during which the crowd sings "Na Na Hey Hey (The Goodbye Song)," but when he comes back, he will come back for Cody. Cody tells The Rock that he looks forward to it. The Rock says he also looks forward to it, then tells Cody how he won at Night One before Cody went on to Night Two, and that while Cody's story with Roman has ended, their story has just begun. Cody says he believes that, saying that The Rock is not just "The Final Boss" but his literal boss as part of the TKO board of directors, but reminds him that he is the people's champion, and that means he is The Rock's champion. The Rock agrees, then has one more thing for Cody before he rides off into the sunset. He holds Cody's hand, then tells Cody that he does not have to open his hand to see what it is, and tells him not to break his heart again. The Rock lets go of Cody's hand, and he leaves as Cody watches.

We are introduced to the Spanish announce team of Marcelo Rodriguez and Jerry Soto.

Ilja Dragunov beats Shinsuke Nakamura.

We see a video package where Drew McIntyre is furious about losing the World Heavyweight Championship in a matter of minutes.

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) is in the ring. Finn Balor tells all the doubters who thought that Rhea Ripley could not retain and that Damian Priest could not retain that they were all wrong. Dominik declares that Rhea is still the World Women's Champion even as he is booed out of the building, and Rhea Ripley makes her way to the ring. Rhea says WrestleMania was almost perfect, and that this will be addressed, and that two things came out of this: Mami is always on top and that The Judgment Day is in a new era. Finn Balor then introduces Damian Priest, who heads to the ring. The crowd chants "You deserve it!", and Priest responds with "You're damn right, I do!" He says that "The Terror Twins" are world champions and that everyone should rise for The Judgment Day. Suddenly, R-Truth shows up to celebrate "all of us." He says he has brought the Raw Tag Team titles back to The Judgment Day, then says that while The Judgment Day is picky about who they let in the group, he is only one-half of the tag champs. The Miz then shows up and heads to the ring. The Miz has to tell R-Truth he does not want to be in The Judgment Day and that R-Truth is not in the group, but R-Truth insists that he is. Miz drags R-Truth to his side before announcing that he and R-Truth are tag champs now. Finn Balor says The Miz thinks he is funny and that it is funny that The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) will have the shortest reign in history when they put their titles on the line, right here, right now. R-Truth then says as fun as that is, they cannot, as there are only "three of us," as there will be a six-man tag match where he and The Miz tag with "the guy you can't see." JD McDonagh accepts the challenge, and The Miz says he would like to physically see his partner. R-Truth says that this person would like to celebrate but would rather tag instead, and as he introduces him, The Judgment Day (Finn, Priest, Rhea, Dominik, McDonagh) attack The Awesome Truth.

The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) beat The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) in a three-on-two handicap match after John Cena shows up to be The Awesome Truth's third man.

We hear from "Big" Bronson Reed, who says he steps into the ring not just to win, but to break his opponents, and winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal is just the beginning. He says his opponents tonight will learn a lesson in raw dominance, as he is here to conquer and prove who the real heavyweight champion should be.

Sami Zayn heads to the ring. Sami says he has been lucky the past few years at WrestleMania, and while he has done some historical things, he wanted to do something historical this year, and he did. He says that is not entirely true, as the one who did something historical was Gunther, and that a 666-day reign as champion cannot be taken away from him. He says that while Gunther was the best Intercontinental Champion of all time, he took it away from him. Sami says that he cannot take all the credit for this, and thanks the fans for supporting him along the way. He also says seeing his wife and son as well as Kevin Owens backstage helped him. He then says that one other guy helped him out, too, but before he can mention him, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci show up. Kaiser says that for the past two years, Gunther put everything into making the Intercontinental Championship the most prestigious championship within WWE, and that it breaks his heart to see someone like Sami holding it right now. He says that Sami looks like "all these peasants in Philadelphia tonight" and that the new champion "looks like a bum." Kaiser says that on behalf of Gunther, he and Vinci are here to make this right. Kaiser and Vinci surround the ring before Chad Gable show up to stand alongside Sami.

We see a vignette for Sheamus.

Sami Zayn and Chad Gable beat Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci).

He says it would be an honor to defend it against him next week in his hometown of Montréal, Quebec, Canada.

Before the next match, Drew McIntyre says that what happened last night was "pure and utter B.S." and that he only had his moment for 5 minutes and 46 seconds, which is "five minutes longer than [the fans] last in bed," and while he does not like Rollins, he respects Rollins for standing by his convictions, going out on his shield and sharing a moment only warriors know about. He then says "that bondage Undertaker" Damian Priest ruined the moment and that the Money In The Bank Briefcase is a joke that cost him a world title twice and cheapens everything both he and Rollins did. He says the World title will come back to him, then blames CM Punk for Priest cashing in on him and calls him a coward for attacking him when he turned his back. McIntyre then says it is "on sight" and that he will go for the rest of Punk's body when he returns. McIntyre then takes his anger out on the commentators when "Main Event" Jey Uso shows up.

"Main Event" Jey Uso beats Drew McIntyre, "Big" Bronson Reed and Ricochet in a Fatal 4-Way to become #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship after CM Punk comes out from underneath the ring to grab McIntyre by the foot to stop the Claymore Kick, allowing Jey Uso to hit McIntyre with a superkick, a Spear and an Uso Splash to win the match and the title shot.
