Generation NXT - NXT recap for October 7, 2023

Noam Dar retains the NXT Heritage Cup Championship two falls to (2-1) against Akira Tozawa. Noam Dar scores the first fall with 2:30 (two minutes, thirty seconds) left in Round 2 with a surprise roll-up pin, then lands a cheap shot after the bell. Akira Tozawa scores the second fall with 1:21 (one minute, twenty-one seconds) left in Round 4 with an ankle lock after Noam Dar inadvertently kicks the ring post. Noam Dar scores the third and deciding fall in Round 5 with :40 (forty seconds) left after Lash Legend saves Noam Dar from a top rope senton from Akira Tozawa, allowing Noam Dar to hit the Nova Roller to retain. After the match, Oro Mensah gets in Tozawa's face, and he gets slapped in the face by Maxxine Dupri before Chad Gable and Otis beat him up.





It is announced that Mick Foley has picked the qualifying matches for the Iron Survivor Challenge. Mick Foley makes Fallon Henley vs. Tiffany Stratton and Dijak vs. Tyler Bate official for the women's and men's qualifiers, respectively.

Backstage, Elektra Lopez and Lola Vice show up in the locker room, and Lola Vice calls her previous NXT Women's Breakout Tournament footnotes on the way to her tournament win. Roxanne Perez then shows up and says it is one thing to win the contract, but it is another thing to become champion, and advises her not to make enemies out of the entire locker room.



Lyra Valkyria heads to the ring. She says that whoever advised never to meet one's heroes never met Becky Lynch, for she is an absolute legend, and she managed to beat her and put the NXT Championship around her waist. She says that she and Becky Lynch both brought the fight, and that the fans made it feel like magic when they showed what women's wrestling was all about. She then goes on to say that everything about her story is true and that she is not the only one to dream of holding the women's title. Suddenly, as Lyra says that there are other challengers waiting to face her for the title, Xia Li shows up, and she asks security to allow her to the ring. Xia Li boasts about attacking Becky Lynch, then makes it clear she wants Lyra's title. Xia Li then spin kicks one of the security guards in the face, and Lyra is game to face Xia Li.



We hear from Tyler Bate, who tells his challengers not to mistake his nature for weakness. He says that Mick Foley sees what he can see and that the Iron Survivor Challenge is something he needs, for he is riding on a resume of the past and he plans to write his future by beating Dijak. Xia Li then spin kicks one of the security guards in the face, and Lyra is game to face Xia Li.

Before the next match, Fallon Henley tells Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen that she is ready and that "Tiffy Time" is over.

Backstage, Alpha Academy (Chad Gable, Otis, Maxxine Dupri) keeps Akira Tozawa focused, and Maxxine mentions that they will be back next week to guest on SPRNVA Sessions. All of a sudden, Drew Gulak, Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp and Myles Borne show up, and Gulak mocks Alpha Academy by saying that his foursome is bred for greatness. Charlie Dempsey then says that the Heritage Cup should be kept away from people like Alpha Academy, and this leads to Otis challenging Gulak to a match tonight.

It is announced that discretion will be exercised in Von Wagner vs. Bron Breakker tonight, and that there will be a winner.

Tiffany Stratton beats Fallon Henley to qualify for the women's Iron Survivor Challenge.



Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Wes Lee. Wes Lee says he was on a "never-ending hamster wheel" and he had to leap off, and now he is back on track and he wants to smack Dominik Mysterio in the mouth and win back the North American Championship. Baron Corbin shows up and insults Wes Lee's plans, and Wes Lee says that as much as he would like to see Ilja Dragunov smack him, he would love to do it himself. Corbin tells Wes Lee that he will fail just like Dragunov.



Backstage, Kelly Kincaid interviews Bron Breakker, who says that tonight will be the end of the shortest comeback attempt in history when he destroys Von Wagner in record time for thinking he can beat him.

We hear from Dijak, who says Mick Foley put Tyler Bate in a qualifying match that he cannot win, and that Mick Foley can see that he has what it takes for the Iron Survivor Series. He says that he has caused destruction with nothing on the line, then asks what he can do when something is.

Bron Breakker beats Von Wagner after hitting Von Wager with two Spears, one outside the ring after saving Mr. Stone and another back inside the ring. After the match, Mr. Stone hits Bron Breakker in the back with a chair, and Bron Breakker grabs Mr. Stone by the neck. Von Wagner gets the better of Bron Breakker and powerbombs him through the announce table. Von Wagner then hugs Mr. Stone afterwards.





Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Carmelo Hayes. Carmelo Hayes says that he is surprised that Trick Williams after what happened to him, then makes it clear that he did not attack Trick Williams and that Trick Williams is listening to "all the outside voices." He says he will give Trick the explanation he deserves, for they are friends.



We hear from The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch), who tell OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price) that they grew up on the streets and that those who fought survived and that they stood tall. Ridge mentions his rugby career before Butch mentions his wrestling career, then they both mention that they have different principles than OTM and that they will see those principles when they knock their teeth down their throats.



Before the next match, Arianna Grace wishes the four participants of the next match the best of luck as she looks forward to facing them all, then sits down and watches from the ramp.

Kelani Jordan and Roxanne Perez beats Elektra Lopez and Lola Vice. After the match, Arianna Grace declares Roxanne and Kelani the winners, then calls the fans the real winners before Karmen Petrovic hits her from behind and tells her to shut up.





We hear from Joe Gacy. He says that when it started, it was a whisper, but it soon got louder and louder and he ended up seeing red and people started to judge and label him "the weird guy" and "a maniac." He says that this is how he was built, and the people he surrounded himself with made that voice quiet. Now he feels like he is in his own personal hell and it feels like he does not know what to do, but he has a feeling that maybe he does know what to do.



We hear from Ilja Dragunov, who says it took everything he had to beat Carmelo Hayes again and that Carmelo is a warrior. He then mentions Baron Corbin jumping him backstage, then tells Corbin that the only one who can slay the dragon is the dragon himself. As Corbin watches Dragunov's promo from backstage, Malik Blade, Edris Enofe, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger show up thinking Dragunov will beat Corbin.



Otis beats Drew Gulak.



Backstage, Kiana James congratulates Tiffany Stratton on qualifying for the Iron Survivor Challenge tonight, then both of them agree that they are carrying the women's division on their back and that it will be down to them in that match. Meanwhile, Dante Chen is talking with Boa in the background, and is wearing facepaint.



At Chase University, Jacy Jayne is met by three members of Tony D'Angelo's family, who have a message for Andre Chase. Jacy reads the message only to be chastised by Chase after being surprised by it. Jacy then mentions that Andre Chase and Duke Hudson's tag team title rematch with Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, and Chase dismisses class so he and Hudson can strategize. Chase then reads the message after Jacy leaves.



Dijak beats Tyler Bate to qualify for the men's Iron Survivor Challenge.



Trick Williams arrives at the arena.

It is announced that Lita will pick who will be in the qualifiers for the Iron Survivor Challenge next week.



Carmelo Hayes is in the ring, where he asks Trick Williams to join him so he can give him an explanation. Trick Williams shows up, and Carmelo says he knows Trick is upset after being blindsided out of the biggest opportunity of a lifetime, and that roadblocks will always be present. He says that he has always shared his glory with him, for without Trick, there would be Carmelo. Trick says he has always been putting their friendship first, and that Carmelo's success has been his success and that he made sure that when Carmelo shot, he did not miss. Carmelo says that it worked, because he did not miss, and when he won, Trick won. Trick says it is easy to say when Carmelo has the ball, then asks why Carmelo is not there for him like he was for Carmelo before trying to ask if Carmelo attacked him. Carmelo says he always believed in Trick, and that what John Cena told him, he told him months ago, and that he knew Trick could be a once-in-a-lifetime performer. Trick says he wants to do his own thing and have his moments, but he wants Carmelo to see that. He also mentions that he did not see who attacked him and that Carmelo was not there when it happened, but Carmelo is fixated on the fact that Trick did not see his attacker. Trick finally asks Carmelo if he attacked him, and before Carmelo can tell him, Lexis King shows up. Carmelo and Trick tell Lexis King to mind his business, then Lexis King says it could be somebody new looking to prove themselves with a twisted mind and unclean thoughts, then asks Trick if he was sure that Carmelo attacked him. Trick refuses to answer the question, but Lexis King tells Trick to say what everyone has expected him to say. Trick rears back to hit Lexis King, but hits Carmelo when Lexis King dodges. Trick then helps Carmelo up to end the show.
