Backlash 2020 - The LIVE Results



Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Christian and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Flair talks about how Randy Orton lost in the Last Man Standing Match but will stay the greatest in-ring performer after tonight, but Christian says that Edge was working to get back into the ring and that Orton's last name didn't get Orton everything. He says that Orton took the path of least resistance that Edge had to scratch and claw for everything, and tonight, he is banking on passion and grit to overcome passion and help Edge win tonight.

The Miz and John Morrison's music video for "Hey! Hey Hey" is finally played after having been interrupted on SmackDown.

Kevin Owens guests on commentary for the next match.

Apollo Crews retains the WWE United States Championship against Andrade after Kevin Owens stops Angel Garza's interference attempt.



We hear from Sheamus, who says that tempers flared out of control and that he is willing to put Friday night behind him as he knows how much pain Jeff Hardy is when Jeff knows that he is not the beacon of hope he thinks he is. He says that the sober Jeff Hardy is a "false flicker of hope" before he succumbs to his demons and realizes that he is a junkie who is an embarrassment to everyone including himself, and tonight, he will make this known when he Brogue Kicks him off the wagon and back into obscurity.



Before the next match, Kayla Braxton interviews Bayley and Sasha Banks. Sasha says that even if they lose, their friendship is unstoppable, and Bayley says that they are unstoppable, unbeatable and unconquerable.

Bayley and Sasha Banks retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against the team of Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross and The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) after Sasha Banks picks the bones after Alexa Bliss hits Peyton Royce with Twisted Bliss.



In footage from earlier today, Braun Strowman pulls up to the Performance Center in his Buick Grand National.

Sheamus beats Jeff Hardy after Brogue Kicking Jeff Hardy following a leap off the top of the barricade.



Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews The Miz and John Morrison, who find out that they will not be co-Universal Champions if either of them win. Miz and Morrison say they are fine. Miz says Braun Strowman may have fixed his windshield, but he will not be able to fix his sense of loss tonight. Otis and Mandy Rose show up, and Otis tells them that he might cash in if either of them win.

Nia Jax vs. Asuka for the WWE Raw Women's Championship ends in a double count-out. Asuka retains the WWE Raw Women's Championship, then hits Nia Jax with a hip attack off the ring apron.



Backstage, MVP readies Bobby Lashley's WWE Championship celebration when Lana shows up to say Lashley is successful because of her. MVP tells Lana that he knows that she is afraid of what Lashley will say if she has this conversation with him.

Before the next match, The Miz says that before he or John Morrison become Universal Champion, he and Morrison need a "pump-up." Morrison proposes sharing the music video for "Hey! Hey Hey." The music video is interrupted by Braun Strowman's entrance during the second verse.

Braun Strowman retains the WWE Universal Championship against The Miz and John Morrison in a 2-in-1 handicap match after Miz pulls Morrison out of a pinfall attempt, which ends up costing Miz and Morrison the match.



Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, who announces that this Friday, there will be a championship presentation. He says that while Daniel Bryan dreams, he makes his dreams happen, as Daniel is not phenomenal.

Drew McIntyre retains the WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley after Lana shows up and gets on the ring apron, distracting Lashley and allowing McIntyre to send Lashley into Lana - who falls onto MVP - with a Glasgow Kiss before hitting the Claymore Kick for the win. Before the match, Lashley puts McIntyre in a full nelson, and it takes three referees to get Lashley to let go.



Backstage, The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) and The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) brawl outside the Performance Center and around Braun Strowman's car, breaking the car's front windshield. They quickly run into the building and brawl there. Both teams realize they are acting ridiculously and put all their weapons down at the same time, then start brawling again. As Erik and Dawkins brawl, Ivar picks up the bowling ball and looks back on their bowling match, then throws the bowling ball into Ford's crotch. Ivar catches up with Erik, but is tackled through a glass window by Dawkins. Ivar looks back to all the turkey legs he had, then Erik and Ford help their partners up. Before they can fight some more, men on motorcycles show up. One of them gets off his bike, and the bikers reveal themselves to be Akira Tozawa and a bunch of ninjas. The Viking Raides and The Street Profits become the Viking Profits and fight off Tozawa and the ninjas. Suddenly, Akira Tozawa brings out a tall ninja. The Viking Profits escape wen they realize they have no chance and walk across the top of a truck, where Ivar gets tired. Afterwards, both teams break up and start fighting again. Both teams soon fall into a dumpster, and Ivar looks back to all the times he was called cute while Erik was told "You...not so much." A referee finds them, says Ivar is cute - Erik, not so much - then both teams learn there is a crocodile in the dumpster and frantically climb out.



Randy Orton beats Edge in what is billed as "The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" and what is Edge's first regular singles match in over nine years with a low blow followed by his trademark punt. The match is marked with cinematic camera angles, enhanced audio, referee Charles Robinson wearing a powder blue shirt, black bowtie and pants as well as posthumous pre-recorded fight introductions from the late ring announcer Howard Finkel. After the match, Orton tells Edge to go home to his wife and family. Medical personnel show up to put Edge on a stretcher, but Edge gets up under his own power.
