Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for June 12, 2020

Renee Young is in the ring to start tonight's show for an official contract signing between Sheamus and Jeff Hardy for their match at Backlash. Sheamus arrives first, followed by Jeff. When Sheamus shows up, he shows up with a doctor and several members of security who carry a big black box into the ring. Sheamus says he had nothing to do with what happened between Jeff Hardy and Elias, but Jeff tells Sheamus he has no idea what he has unleashed. Sheamus says the security is for Jeff, not him, and says he cannot trust Jeff and that Jeff must take a urine test. Sheamus says Jeff must take the test or else he will not get in the ring, calling Jeff "a junkie." Jeff admits he is an alcoholic, and says that if this is what he has to do to get to Sheamus, then so be it. Jeff says he is sick and tired of being sick and tired, and says that to feed his demons, sometimes he has to square up with "a bastard" like Sheamus, and says he will go through "[Sheamus'] B.S." As Jeff Hardy takes the urine test, Sheamus tells everyone not to end up like Jeff Hardy as part of an anti-drug message. Sheamus then brings up Jeff's family as well as his history with addiction, then Jeff takes the urine and throws it at him. As he does, Jeff Hardy tells Sheamus "It's better to be pissed off...than pissed on." Jeff leaves the ring as Sheamus spits, coughs and gags and the crowd chants "You got pissed on." At this point, Hardy has signed the contract.

Backstage, Sheamus is in the bathroom when the doctor shows up and tells him that Jeff Hardy's results came back negative. Sheamus is furious.

Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura beat The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) after Nakamura hits Kofi out of the air with a knee and pins him with an inside cradle.

Backstage, Tucker tests Otis' senses when Mandy Rose shows up and wishes Otis luck. As Tucker gets Otis focused, Sheamus and Jeff Hardy are heard brawling backstage. Referees and official have to keep them apart.

We see a video package chronicling the history of the WWE Intercontinental Championship leading up to the next match.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles beats Daniel Bryan in a match lasting more than half an hour to win the vacant WWE Intercontinental Championship! After the match, Renee Young interviews Styles, who says that he is the best WWE champion that the fans have ever seen and that he is phenomenal.

Backstage, Braun Strowman says that tonight's show has been crazy, and says that while he can fix the windshield on his car, nothing will fix The Miz and John Morrison. He also says he is not in the mood for a Money In The Bank cash-in tonight. Strowman makes it clear that he has no idea destroying some Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis).

Sasha Banks and Bayley show up for the Women's Tag Team Championship victory celebration. Bayley says she is at the top of her game, and while it could be lonely at the top, she still has Sasha Banks with her and they are Women's Tag Team Champions. Sasha says they are the leaders and that they could take their titles back any time they wanted, and that their tag team titles prove they and their friendship are unstoppable. As Bayley is about to read a poem, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross show up. Alexa says that the line needs to be drawn at poetry, and Nikki says that she and Alexa love a good party. Suddenly, The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) are on the TitanTron, and they announce that Bayley and Sasha's reign will soon end. After mentioning they ended their first reign and that they left them laying on Monday night, they tell Bayley and Sasha not to turn their backs on Alexa and Nikki, who lay Bayley and Sasha out.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews The Miz and John Morrison, who debut a new video where they state that Braun Strowman needs to go. The music video is soon interrupted by Braun Strowman's entrance.

Matt Riddle debuts next week!

Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) and Braun Strowman beat The Miz, John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler. During the match, King Corbin shows up on the TitanTron. He is backstage, and he talks to Mandy Rose about Otis stealing his crown. Corbin says that is alright, as Mandy is fantasizing about being with him. He is soon attacked by Otis, who has run to the back. Later on, Otis is back in the match, and Mandy Rose joins him at ringside.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
