Generation NXT - NXT recap for April 15, 2020

Finn Balor beats Fabian Aichner despite the distractions and interference attempts by Marcel Barthel.

We see a video package of Charlotte Flair. She says that there are women who talk a big game, but nobody backs it up like her. She admits that Rhea Ripley is talented, but she is here to dominate the past, present and future of sports entertainment. After listing some of the biggest names she has faced, she states that she has been the biggest name of the past five years and says that after hearing that NXT has the best women's division, she wants to run the division down. She says that she has her eye on Mia Yim - who she was the first opponent for in NXT - and says that after she beats the NXT Women's Division, there will be no doubt that she is the best.

Before the next match, we see a tweet from Aliyah where she takes credit for injuring Xia Li backstage.

Xia Li beats Aliyah.

Backstage, Matt Riddle is on the phone with Pete Dunne, trying to figure out who his new tag team partner tonight is.

Akira Tozawa beats Isaiah "Swerve" Scott in Group B of the NXT Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. Tozawa is 1-0, while Swerve is 0-1. After the match, Tozawa says he must keep fighting and winning to become Cruiserweight Champion again.

We see a vignette for El Hijo del Fantasma, who has worked in the best companies in Mexico for the past twenty years and wants to start his career in NXT as Cruiserweight Champion.

Tegan Nox beats Raquel Gonzalez with a schoolkid pin when Gonzales tries to choke slam Shotzi Blackheart for showing up and hitting Dakota Kai with her helmet.

We see a video package where Keith Lee talks about how he first got interested in pro wrestling from his grandmother, getting kicked out of his family's house and sacrificing everything to make a name for himself in pro wrestling, and how he came to NXT from the indies. He says that he has grinded and overcome to become limitless.

Dexter Lumis beats Tehuti Miles with the Anaconda Vice.

We hear from Adam Cole, who tells Velveteen Dream that he does not deserve a shot at the NXT Championship and that he is only concerned about reality, as there is nobody who deserves a shot at the title. He says there are more important things to focus on, such as Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish taking the NXT Tag Team Championships back and becoming whole once again.

Velveteen Dream shows up. He says it is typical of Adam Cole to no-show him tonight, and says that Cole fancies himself as a mastermind and a leader when he knows him as the last remaining champion in The Undisputed Era and the greatest NXT Champion of all time. As Velveteen Dream tells Adam Cole to remember the words "Dream Over," Finn Balor shows up. Balor says he does not know or like Dream, and until now, he has said nothing to him until now. Balor says he is the greatest NXT Champion, not Cole, and tells him to be careful as comments like that will earn him a date with the Prince. Dream tells Balor to pick up next Wednesday night before Balor walks away.

We hear from Malcolm Bivens, who says that Rinku and Saurav will soon take the NXT tag titles.

Next week: more matches in the NXT Interim Championship Tournament! Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox vs. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez!

Before the next match, Pete Dunne shows up on the video screen, saying it is not possible to be in the ring tonight before announcing Matt Riddle's partner for tonight: Timothy Thatcher.

Matt Riddle and the debuting Timothy Thatcher retain the NXT Tag Team Championships against The Undisputed Era (Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish) with a Fujiwara arm bar from Thatcher to Strong. During the match, Dexter Lumis is seen watching from a distance.

We hear from Tommaso Ciampa, who says that he is done with Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae and "all of this" and admits that Gargano and Candace showed the world and that Gargano is the better man. Suddenly, he is grabbed and attacked from behind. The camera falls down, and Killer Kross is on the floor saying "Tick tock" to Ciampa. There is also a black high-heeled boot near the camera (which is presumably Scarlett Bordeaux's).

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
