Rebellion, Night One - Impact Wrestling recap for April 21, 2020

Tommy Dreamer, Rhino and Crazzy Steve beat oVe (Dave Crist, Jake Crist, Madman Fulton).

It is announced that Tessa Blanchard and Eddie Edwards are not here, leaving only Michael Elgin and making it so that the World title match will not happen.

We see footage of Josh Mathews interviewing Eddie Edwards, who is stuck at home and unable to compete. He says that if it were up to him, he would be at Rebellion in a heartbeat, but he has been forced to make the decision to stay at home. He says he will be back in the ring soon, hungrier than ever, and going for the World Championship once again. He also looks forward to watching tonight's and next week's event.

We see footage from during the break where Crazzy Steve asks if anyone forgot about him, because he did not forget about Impact and he is as happy to see the fans as they are happy to see him. He says that his, Tommy Dreamer, and Rhino's hands were raised like "lightning rods from God," and says he does not suffer from insanity as he enjoys every minute of it.

Backstage, Michael Elgin talks about his career in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling and how his accomplishments there were not good enough, and says he came to Impact to hold a World title that the greatest have worn. He says that when people look back on champions in Impact Wrestling years later, he will be at number one. He then states that Tessa Blanchard is in Mexico because she is afraid and that Eddie Edwards made excuses not to be here. Nevertheless, he says that Rebellion will end with him as World Champion.

The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz) beat XXXL (Acey Romero and Larry D) and the team of Fallah Bahh and TJP in a three-way tag team match.

We hear from The North ("All Ego" Ethan Page and "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander). Page says it is glad that the Canadian border is closed as the teams from the United States can't get to them, and Alexander says they that the teams in the States will have to earn their opportunities in the country they are stuck in.

Backstage, Willie Mack and Rich Swann are interviewed. Willie says it means the world that Rich Swann is here, as Rich Swann was here when he showed up. Despite Willie being unhappy not having a tag team title shot, Swann tells Willie he worked to get to Impact and that he is glad to have his back. He says that if anyone can bring that thunder and beat Ace Austin for the X Division Championship, it is Willie, and after that happens, they will celebrate all night long.

Willie Mack beats Ace Austin to become the Impact X Division Champion! Rich Swann celebrates on the stage after the match.

Backstage, Rich Swann congratulates Willie Mack on winning the X Division Championship, saying it has put a stamp on everything Willie has done in the business. Rich Swann says that nothing has changed between them and that they can still focus on being tag team and double champions, then Johnny Swinger shows up and congratulates Willie before saying that "The Mack and Pack Connection" will live on. Swinger says Willie Mack promised him the first shot at the title, and Rich Swann says they are celebrating. Swinger leaves to get something, but Willie and Swann leave in the other direction.

Kylie Rae beats Kiera Hogan with the Smile To The Finish.

Ken Shamrock beats Sami Callihan in an unsanctioned match with an ankle lock in the parking lot. During the match, oVe (Dave Crist, Jake Crist, Madman Fulton) attack Shamrock, but Sami strikes them all down so he can finish the match on his own.

Here are the top five moments from tonight's show!
