We hear from The Brian Kendrick, who reads a letter from Akira Tozawa, who cannot be here tonight. He has performed in Japan to hone his skills for Royal Rumble, and he will train like never before to win the Cruiserweight Championship. Kendrick admits he messed with Tozawa at every opportunity, and thanks to their strange friendship, he owes it to him and pledges to help him become champion.
Backstage, Drew Gulak and "Gentleman" Jack Gallagher hand General Manager Drake Maverick two binders' worth of potential 205 Live recruits. When they leave, Drake tosses the binders to the floor. Mike and Maria Kanellis show up, complaining Mike hasn't had a match in five weeks. Mike thinks that Drake has no time for him. Maria says that they have been fighting for opportunities, but probably not in the right way. She hopes that any new faces coming to 205 Live are as willing to fight for opportunities as much as she is.
We hear from Lio Rush, who says that The Lucha House Party (Kalisto, Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado) won last week, not Kalisto, because Kalisto beating him one-on-one is impossible. He refuses to let that stand, and says that The Lucha House Party will feel the rush.
Hideo Itami beats Cedric Alexander to advance to the Fatal 4-Way for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Royal Rumble.
Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Buddy Murphy, who congratulates Hideo Itami for proving he is one of the most dangerous strikers on 205 Live after what he did to Cedric Alexander. He admits his opponents are talented, and says he is hungry for competition in his quest to become the greatest cruiserweight of all time. Next week, he will issue an open challenge for a non-title match to see who can stop the unstoppable.
