Honor Roll - Ring of Honor recap for January 5, 2019

Ian Riccoboni is in the ring with Chris Sabin, Flip Gordon, Dalton Castle, The Boys and "The Villain" Marty Scurll to start tonight's show. Sabin, Flip, Dalton and Scurll will compete against each other in a Four Corners Survival Match for a World title shot at Honor Reigns Supreme on January 13th. Before Riccoboni can introduce Jay Lethal, however, Matt Taven shows up. He thanks Riccoboni for saying that he successfully defended his purple World title at Final Battle, and says that nobody in the ring is deserving of a title shot against him. Taven congratulates Gordon for winning a tournament, and says that for the past year, Gordon's nose has been buried so deep in The Young Bucks' (Matt and Nick Jackson). He says that he likes everything Sabin has done, and says he has not done anything to be relevant in the World title picture. Taven then mocks Scurll for being the only member of The Elite left in the company and says he came up short the last two times he went for the World title, then says it is time that Dalton left and faked another injury. He says nobody in the ring is worthy of another title shot, and his next challenger will have to earn it like he did, because hie is Matt Taven. Jay Lethal shows up and argues with Taven until Taven spits on the real World title, then Taven and Lethal brawl until referees and security break it up.

Jeff Cobb beats Luchasaurus in the latter's televised debut in a Proving Grounds Match. (Had Luchasaurus won, he would have gotten a future opportunity at the ROH World Television Championship.)

Before the next match, Kelly Klein talks about how she won the ROH Women of Honor World Championship at Final Battle. She says that starting right now, every match against her will be for the ROH Women of Honor World Championship, and Klein officially puts the title on the line.

Kelly Klein retains the ROH Women of Honor World Championship against Nikki Addams. After the match, Jenny Rose shows up and congratulates Klein before declaring that they have unfinished business on January 13th. She says that since Klein wants to make it a championship match, she wants to make it a Street Fight. Klein tells Jenny she will see her in the streets of Concord, New Hampshire.

At the bar, Brian Milonas meets with The Beer City Bruiser, who says that "The Last Real Man" Silas Young does not even want to communicate with him. Brian Milonas says it is time to move past it and that it is time that the Bruiser confront Silas face-to-face.

"The allen Angel" Christopher Daniels shows up. He says that Final Battle was not a good night for SoCal Uncensored (Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky) following Ladder Wars and his loss to "The Villain" Marty Scurll. He announces that all he has left to do is to say goodbye, but he will take the great memories of ROH and his career here with him, as everyone he has faced here became friends, comrades and brothers. He says he will remember the satisfaction of finally holding the ROH World Championship, and says that there comes a time when the memory of a man becomes more important than the man himself. He asks that the fans' memories of him be those of a man who gave his all to be the best professional wrestler he could be every time he stepped in an ROH ring. Daniels than thanks the fans and says that he loves them before saying goodbye and receiving a standing ovation. Suddenly, ROH COO Joe Koff shows up on the stage to tell him that this the past year must come to closure, and admits that Daniels did something at Final Battle that made him rethink the situation: putting his body on the line Carey Silkin against Bully Ray, which showed Koff that he wasn't doing this to save his job, but because he loves ROH and what it means to him. As a result of Daniels' actions, he awards Daniels with a new contract for 2019. Koff thanks Daniels and hands him his contract, then Daniels is suddenly attacked by Shane Taylor, who mouths off at Koff. Daniels and Shane brawl, and Shane gets the upper hand before hitting Daniels in the back with a steel chair. He tells Daniels that he will be remembered for being the guy he took out before hitting him with a piledriver on the steel chair, then tears up the contract and stuffs it in Daniels' mouth.

Zack Sabre Jr. makes his ROH TV debut next week!

Jay Lethal guests on commentary for the next match.

Dalton Castle beats Chris Sabin, Flip Gordon and "The Villain" Marty Scurll to face Jay Lethal for the ROH World Championship at Honor Reigns Supreme. After the match, Jay Lethal gets in the ring and shakes hands with Dalton Castle.
