205:Alive - 205 Live recap for January 15, 2019

Before the next match, Lio Rush welcomes everyone to "Lio-5 Live," and says he has some unfinished business tonight as Lince Dorado has a misconception of him. He is not here to make friends or party; he is here to win. He tells everyone to take a look at their new Intercontinental Champion, Bobby Lashley, then says Lince Dorado ruined him becoming Cruiserweight Champion in two weeks at Royal Rumble and that he will feel the rush. When Lince Dorado shows up with Gran Metalik and Kalisto, Lio Rush says he shows up with them because he can't beat him. Lince throws his vest at Lio Rush, then Kalisto and Gran Metalik leave.

Lio Rush beats Lince Dorado. After the match, Lio Rush attacks Lince again, but Kalisto and Gran Metalik chase Lio away and into the crowd. During the match, Lince tweaks his knee; this injury is exacerbated in the post-match attack.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Noam Dar, who says that "The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese isn't better than anyone else like he thinks he is. Tony shows up and tells Noam to get out of his fantasy world, but Noam reminds him that he lost last week. Tony tells him that if he wants to prove his win wasn't a fluke, he will challenge him again in a rubber match. Noam is happy to do so, then reminds Tony he lost again.

General Manager Drake Maverick meets with TJP, who says that a new Superstar who is debuting tonight will be facing Buddy Murphy instead of him. As Drake appreciates TJP's initiative, TJP simply laughs and walks away.

We hear from Kalisto, The Brian Kendrick (who speaks for Akira Tozawa) and Ariya Daivari (who speaks for Hideo Itami) in footage from earlier today, all making their cases for why they should be WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Next week: Kalisto vs. Hideo Itami vs. Akira Tozawa in a Triple Threat Match!

Before the next match, Buddy Murphy says he is the greatest cruiserweight of all time, and in two weeks, he will defend his championship against three of the best cruiserweights in the world. While his opponents have a Triple Threat Match to see who is the best next week, he has an open challenge for anybody who wants to face him this week. The open challenge is answered by Humberto Carrillo from NXT.
