Generation NXT - NXT recap for January 30, 2019

Io Shirai and Kairi Sane beat Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.

In backstage footage from NXT TakeOver: Phoenix, Johnny Gargano says he promised the people a match of the year, and he delivered. He also promised he would win, and he did that, too. He is now North American Champion, and winning feels great.

In backstage footage from NXT TakeOver: Phoenix, Bianca Belair says "undefeated" is a mindset and that she will take the Women's title from "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler. She also addresses comments made about her by Sam Roberts on the kick-off, saying that she took Baszler to her limit and that Sam Roberts can kiss her ass.

In backstage footage from NXT TakeOver: Phoenix, War Raiders (Hanson and Rowe) say that they did what they said they would do. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Relly, Roderick Strong) may have earned their respect, but their era has ended and War Raiders' reign starts now.

In backstage footage from NXT TakeOver: Phoenix, Matt Riddle says tonight is not about the victory; instead, it's about making a point and breaking Kassius Ohno. He plans to break anyone else who plans to test him like Ohno did.

We see footage of a brawl then ensues between Velveteen Dream, Aleister Black, Ricochet, Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa after the cameras stopped rolling at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix. It it then announced at the Royal Rumble kick-off that the team of Dream, Aleister and Ricochet and the team Cole, Gargano and Ciampa will face off in Halftime Heat on WWE Network during the Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday.

Next week: Johnny Gargano!

The Forgotten Sons (Steve Culter and Wesley Blake) beat Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) following the involvement of Jaxson Ryker in the match.
