Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for April 11, 2017

Kevin Owens shows up to start the show, bringing the WWE United States Championship with him. He welcomes everyone to "the brand-new Kevin Owens show," and says that SmackDown Live just got a huge upgrade, as he is here now and he has brought the US title with him. He says that people should be cheering him and not booing, as the title is in good hands with him as Canada is better than the United States and makes better athletes. He challenges anyone in the back to take him on - in French - and says he's only here for himself and that he wants to become the new face of America. Baron Corbin suddenly shows up, and says that while he can beat up everyone in the arena and most of the locker room, he can't beat him up as he beat Dean Ambrose up so badly he sent him to Raw and that Jericho beat him up so badly he sent him to SmackDown Live. Corbin says he is also owed a title match, and wants the United States title. Owens says he doesn't even deserve it. Suddenly, Sami Zayn shows up, surprising and aggravating Owens, and says he is finally on SmackDown Live. Corbin tells Sami Zayn that nobody cares that he is here. Everyone in the ring is suddenly joined by AJ Styles, who says this is SmackDown Live and that it is all about him as it is "the house that AJ Styles built" and he is still here. General Manager Daniel Bryan arrives and announces that before the Superstar Shake-Up, it was announced that Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens for the United States title is announced for Payback, and that the match still stands. Whoever wins the match will also be transferred to SmackDown Live. Even though the United States title will not be defended on the blue brand until after Payback, Sami Zayn, AJ Styles and Baron Corbin will be in a Triple Threat Match to determine the #1 contender for the United States title later tonight.

Randy Orton beats Erick Rowan by disqualification. During the match, Bray Wyatt appears on the TitanTron to taunt Randy Orton again, and says he will see him soon at the House of Horrors Match at Payback. After this, Orton notices that Rowan has disappeared, and when he goes out to look for him, he immediately runs right into some steel steps being held by Rowan, which ends the match.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) retain the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships against American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable). After the match, American Alpha are attacked by The Shining Stars (Primo and Epico).

Before the next match, Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots is seen in the front row.

Mojo Rawley beats Jinder Mahal after Rob Gronkowski tosses beer into Jinder's face. Mojo celebrates with Gronkowski in the front row after the match.

Commissioner Shane McMahon shows up. He says that SmackDown Live is the land of opportunity, but opportunity is only good if you can seize it. He then calls for the SmackDown Live Women's Division to come to the ring, and they come out one by one. James Ellsworth says that Naomi makes a horrible champion and that people only watch SmackDown Live for Carmella and himself, which Naomi doesn't take kindly too. Shane announces the first woman to make the move to SmackDown Live: Tamina, who hasn't been seen on television in months. He then introduces a more familiar name: Charlotte Flair.

Sin Cara and Rusev are confirmed as having been traded to SmackDown Live.

Aiden English, now without the recently-released Simon Gotch, says the spotlight is solely on him as he returns to his old singing gimmick from NXT. He is interrupted by "The Perfect Ten" Tye Dillinger.

We see a video package of AJ Styles.

It is announced that Lana is coming to SmackDown Live as she dances in a red dress.

Dolph Ziggler is in the ring. He says he's going to stay on SmackDown Live. He says that a bunch of "shiny new toys" will be coming to the blue brand, and that it will soon get less and less exciting while he still kills it in the ring every week, he is interrupted by "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura. Dolph Ziggler takes Nakamura lightly, saying he must be new around here and asks him who he thinks he is. Nakamura lets the fans do the talking by singing his entrance theme, then tells Ziggler who he is. Ziggler teases walking away before going for a superkick, but Nakamura blocks it. Ziggler retreats.

We see a video package of Baron Corbin.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) are coming soon to SmackDown Live.

We see a video package of Sami Zayn.

TJ Perkins says everyone has slept on him except Neville, and after dropping "that loserweight" Austin Aries on his head last night, he will take on "that rejected circus freak" "Gentleman" Jack Gallagher tonight on 205 Live.

AJ Styles beats Baron Corbin and Sami Zayn in a Triple Threat Match to become #1 contender for the WWE United States Championship after Payback.
