Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for November 6, 2018

General Manager Paige shows up to start tonight's show. Almost immediately, Paige introduces Commissioner Shane McMahon, who is booed as Paige introduces him as the best in the world and continues to be booed afterwards. Paige asks for a photographer to take a picture of Shane with the WWE World Cup as the crowd chants "CM Punk," then Shane is booed by the crowd. Paige asks for a photographer to take a picture of Shane with the WWE World Cup as the crowd chants "CM Punk," then Shane is booed by the crowd. Shane says he acted on instinct when The Miz went down with an injury as he did not want the blue brand to be the inferior brand, and it paid off. He then runs down Survivor Series' champion vs. champion matches along with Paige, with AOP (Akam and Rezar) vs. The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) being made official for Survivor Series in the process. Shane then introduces the captain for the SmackDown Live men's Survivor Series team, Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan shows up and thanks the fans before thanking Shane for humbling himself, and says it is an honor that Shane and Paige have picked him as men's captain. Before he can say more, however, The Miz shows up. Miz says he believes Shane is the best in the world, and that he is just disappointed that he succumbed to a freak injury before he could win the WWE World Cup and Shane picked up the pieces. He says that two-thirds of the trophy should be his, and that he and Shane are both the best in the world, and Shane reminds Miz that he lost in his stead, he would still be fired. Miz says he has never been as injured as Daniel Bryan has, and that if anyone deserves to be captain of the men's team, it is him. Shane says that Miz is right based on his WWE World Cup performance...alongside Daniel Bryan. Shane makes Miz and D-Bry co-captains. Miz keeps saying no, and Daniel Bryan keeps saying yes.

Backstage, Miz questions Commissioner Shane McMahon's logic. Shane expects both Miz and Daniel Bryan to be very uncomfortable and bring out the best in each other as a result. After Shane asks both men if he can count on them, Miz makes Shane his first pick. Daniel Bryan amazingly agrees with Miz, saying that nobody has more on the line than Shane after Shane showed how much he cares for the blue brand at Crown Jewel. Shane thanks them, then leaves, and Miz lets Daniel have the second pick. Daniel thanks Miz, then considers their working together very well to be weird.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) beat The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) to become the captains for SmackDown Live for the Tag Team Survivor Series Match. After the match, The Usos admit that without them as well as The New Day, there is no SmackDown Live tag team division, and make The New Day (Kofi, Big E, Xavier Woods) the first pick for their team. Both team shake hands afterwards.

Backstage, The Miz is on the phone with someone concerning The Marine 6 when Daniel Bryan shows up and announces Rey Mysterio as his second pick, saying that Rey has gotten some things done since coming back. An unimpressed Miz says that if Rey wins his match tonight, Rey is on the team. Daniel Bryan then proposes that he and Miz pick a man, have them both go at it, and make the winner the final pick. Miz likes the idea, then considers their working together weird.

Becky Lynch shows up. Becky addresses "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey's words from last night, and asks Ronda who she is to tell her to do anything, She says Ronda is not a champion yet, as a champion wills herself through adversity, defeat, injury and doubt while Ronda has yet to be tested. She also says that winning comes so easily to Ronda that he titanium body will soon be let down by her weak mind, as she has been knocked down and gotten back up more times than she can count and has been tested day in and day out. Becky admits she was not handpicked like Ronda Rousey was, meant to be the main event or intended to be the talk of the industry, but here she is as "the only champ." She does not care if Ronda calls herself "the baddest bitch on the planet," because she will make Ronda her bitch. Becky almost leaves, but then decides to issue an open challenge to anyone who wants to face her in the ring. That challenge is answered by none other than SAnitY (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, Killian Dain), who bring out Nikki Cross. Nikki takes the microphone from Becky's hand and demands that Becky play with her. Becky says the champ doesn't play; the champ fights.

Becky Lynch beats Nikki Cross with the Dis-arm-her.

Backstage, The Miz is taking a selfie when Daniel Bryan interrupts it. He has picked Jeff Hardy for his man, and asks if Jeff is as good as his choice, who always come through in the clutch: Samoa Joe. Joe shows up and says "May the best man win."

We hear from Shinsuke Nakamura, who says that Seth Rollins' world is falling down thanks to Dean Ambrose. He says that at Survivor Series, he can make Seth forget all his problems with a gift from the "United States of Nakamerica:" a knee to the face.

Rey Mysterio beats Andrade "Cien" Almas to become part of the SmackDown Live Survivor Series men's team. After the match, Rey is hit by an RKO out of nowhere by Randy Orton.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan accuses The Miz of sabotaging the previous match by sending out Randy Orton attack Rey. The Miz stays true to his word and lets Rey on the men's team, then both men say that their hand-picked man will win later tonight.

We hear from "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, who says life as a WWE Superstar is unpredictable, as he has defended the WWE title against multiple opponents in multiple continents. He says it all started in Manchester, England, and now he faces Brock Lesnar again. He says Lesnar is more like a beast and a destroyer and unlike any other opponent he has faced in a WWE ring. He gave everything he had last year, but it wasn't enough. This year, he will beat Lesnar...and that's not a prediction, that's a spoiler.

General Manager Paige is in the ring. She talks about the women's Survivor Series Match, then introduces the SmackDown Live women's team, starting with Carmella. Naomi, Sonya Deville, Asuka and Charlotte Flair are the other four picks for the blue brand's women's team. When Charlotte's music hits, however, Charlotte fails to show. Mandy Rose shows up afterwards and calls herself an upgrade, but Paige tells Mandy she will not be on the team. Mandy wants to know why Sonya was picked over her, even though she says she is really happy for Sonya. She then says she eliminated Sonya in the Evolution battle royal before saying she is concerned about Paige's picks, whom she proceeds to make fun of one by one. After Mandy asks if anyone is feeling Naomi's glow, like her husband Jimmy Uso, Naomi punches Mandy, starting a brawl which ends with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville confronting each other. Mandy backs out of the ring while Sonya wants answers.

Daniel Bryan and The Miz guest on commentary for the next match.

Samoa Joe beats Jeff Hardy to become the final member of SmackDown Live's Survivor Series men's team. After the match, Joe gloats in front of Daniel Bryan, and Daniel Bryan fights him before getting the Yes! Lock on him! The Miz pulls Daniel off Joe, and this leads to Daniel shoving Miz and arm dragging Commissioner Shane McMahon when Shane tries to break it up.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for November 5, 2018

The show begins with the Raw roster on the stage, security in front of the wrestling ring and Acting General Manager Baron Corbin showing up to start tonight's show. Corbin welcomes everyone to the show, then asks that nobody be alarmed by the security as it is normal for someone high-profile like him. He talks about Survivor Series as well as its Champion vs. Champion matches for this year. He also announces there will be a 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Match between Raw and SmackDown Live, and that not only is every match an opportunity to prove Raw is better, but that SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon stole the World Cup from Raw and that Commissioner Stephanie McMahon will deal with it next week. For right now, he is planning on becoming permanent General Manager, and has made himself Captain of Raw's Survivor Series team. However, since his General Manager duties will keep him out of the match, he will have to have people wrestle in his stead. He announces Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre as the first two members of Raw's men's Survivor Series team. He also adds Braun Strowman to the team, and while Strowman is mad with him, he needs to learn how to respect authority, and once he does that, he will be a good addition to the team. As for the Raw women's Survivor Series team, Alexa Bliss is not only captain, but will be picking all the members for the team. Bliss shows up and joins Corbin in the ring. Bliss thanks Corbin for the opportunity, and announces she will be taking more of a managerial role in all this, much like Corbin. She says that the women's roster could learn a lot from her, and says that her natural leadership skills make her perfect for the job. She tells the Raw women's roster to prove they want to be on this team, as she does not want Raw's women to lose to SmackDown Live's. She announces that The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan) will face Natalya, Sasha Banks and Bayley tonight. Corbin says she likes how Bliss thinks and before Bliss can announce this match can happen right now, Kurt Angle suddenly shows up. He says that competing in the World Cup lit a fire under him, and after competing in the men's Survivor Series match last year, he wants to compete this year. Corbin says he makes the decision, and tells him to take a permanent vacation. Angle reminds Corbin that when he was in charge, things were settled in the ring, and challenges Corbin to a match. If Angle wins, he will not only be in the match, but he will be the team captain. He also says that Corbin expects everyone to step out without doing it himself, and calls him "an embarrassment to Raw." Corbin tells Angle he has his match and will get what he wants if he wins, but the only way he will be at Survivor Series is to buy a ticket. Angle tells Corbin the only way he will go to Survivor Series is on crutches. Angle leaves, then Corbin demands the music be cut. Nevertheless, the fans continue to chant "You suck," then Alexa Bliss tries to make the women's six tag team match start next. That fails to happen when Braun Strowman storms out and levels security before chasing Baron Corbin around the ring and straight to the back. Superstars get in Strowman's way, but they end up attack each other and Strowman breaks free. Strowman immediately starts looking for Corbin backstage, and makes it clear to a backstage worker that Corbin will get these hands when he finds him.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Natalya, Sasha Banks and Bayley. Sasha says tonight will not be different from Evolution, and Natalya says she is wearing her late father Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart's sunglasses to the ring for luck.
Natalya, Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan) ends in a no-contest. During the match, Ruby Riott breaks Natalya's father's sunglasses right in front of Natalya. Natalya cries, and Sasha Banks and Bayley try to confront her. The match ends in a no-contest.

Braun Strowman continues to hunt for Acting General Manager Baron Corbin in a backstage bathroom, but does not find him.

Apollo Crews beats Jinder Mahal.

Seth Rollins shows up. Rollins admits things did not go his way in the WWE World Cup tournament, and is not thrilled with Acting General Manager Baron Corbin helping put the Universal Championship back on Brock Lesnar, calling it "a slap in the face" to everything Roman Reigns did. He says he would says that to Lesnar's face, but Lesnar is not here tonight. Dean Ambrose, on the other hand, is, and he wants to know why Ambrose turned on him after getting no answer last week. However, he knows he would just be wasting his - and the fans' - time. He then talks about the Raw tag team titles, saying it would be hard for him to defend the tag team titles by himself. Baron Corbin shows up on the TitanTron as he directs members of security to barricade the door to his room, and says he believes he can do it. He then demands that he defend the tag team titles right now against AOP (Akam and Rezar).

AOP (Akam and Rezar) beats Seth Rollins to become the WWE Raw Tag Team Champions! After the match, Dean Ambrose shows up from out of the crowd and gets in the ring. He teases giving Rollins answers on why he turned on him, then hits him with Dirty Deeds and leaves.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Acting General Manager Baron Corbin. Corbin says he is not afraid of Braun Strowman, and if Strowman wants a wrestling match with him, he's there. However, Strowman wants to destroy him. After Caruso asks Corbin why he is setting up a temporary office in the storage room, Braun Strowman busts in, and he powers past security before looking for Corbin again.

Dolph Ziggler shows up. He says that despite how the WWE World Cup tournament ended, SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon is not the best in the world; he is. He calls this another example of him working to where he wants only for a conspiracy to kick in. He mentions a SmackDown Live referee ejecting Drew McIntyre from the match, allowing The Miz to attack him from behind and allowing Shane to take his place, then all of a sudden, Elias shows up. Elias plays the bassline to "Seven Nation Army," starting an "Oh, Walk With Elias!" chant! Elias thanks the fans for this, then tells Ziggler that he is a loser and that he just got off the phone with the Gallagher brothers from Oasis. They have told him that if he plays his song about Ziggler, Oasis will reunite. Elias says this might be a miracle, but Ziggler says it will be a miracle if people are awake after his song is over. Elias plays guitar and sings, putting himself on a pedestal far above Ziggler in the process. This angers Ziggler to the point that he challenges Elias to a match right now, and Elias is all too happy to oblige.

We hear from The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson), who say there is no room in the Raw tag team division for The Lucha House Party (Kalisto, Lince Dorado, Gran Metalik) and their lucha libre acrobatics and that they will send them packing back to 205 Live.

Elias beats Dolph Ziggler.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Kurt Angle. Angle says Acting General Manager Baron Corbin is dangerous and can pose a threat, but he knows his weaknesses and that he can beat him, and he is heading to Survivor Series as the men's team's captain.

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey shows up. Ronda addresses Becky Lynch's comments from last week, and she can see why everyone loves her and how she became SmackDown Live Women's Champion, saying Becky has her respect. She then tells Becky not to mistake her respect for weakness, as she is the last woman Becky wants to provoke, saying she broke down barriers in women's combat sports while Becky was making her way through the wrestling business. She tells Becky she is a natural-born killer after years of training to become one of the greatest athletes of all time, and tells Becky to bring her angst, rage and aggression, because she wants all of it. She tells Becky that while she may be "the man," she is "the baddest bitch on the planet." As she turns to leave, Nia Jax shows up. Nia reminds Ronda that she is fighting not for herself, but for the Raw women's division at Survivor Series, and that she will be waiting for her afterwards. Afterwards, Ember Moon shows up for the next match.

Nia Jax beats Ember Moon. After the match, Tamina shows up. Nia and Tamina stare down, then look at Ember Moon before Tamina hits Ember Moon with a Samona Drop. All of a sudden, Nia tells Tamina to turn Ember over. Tamina puts Ember Moon in a Boston Crab as Nia Jax hits Ember with a couple of elbow drops, then they both celebrate in the ring before leaving together.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Finn Balor, who says that Bobby Lashley is the most powerful and explosive man he has been in the ring with and has only gotten stronger. While last week felt terrible, tonight will be a different story.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Acting General Manager again as he tries to leave in a car. He says that he has an emergency appointment and announces that Kurt Angle will be competing against Drew McIntyre tonight instead, then nearly gets caught by Braun Strowman as Corbin's car speeds off.

Before the next match, Lio Rush says he wishes he and Bobby Lashley were in Liverpool, England right now, then says the sculptor Michelangelo could not make anything like Lashley on his best day. As Lashley shows off his glutes, Lio Rush mentions that anyone who is offended can just "get over it," then says Lashley respects Manchester, England before saying Lashley will beat up Finn Balor like he has beaten up everybody in Manchester.

Bobby Lashley beats Finn Balor following the distraction by Lio Rush. After the match, Drew McIntyre shows up for the next match, but not before having a staredown with Bobby Lashley. Drew McIntyre then helps Finn Balor up only to hit him with a Claymore.

Next week! Commissioner Stephanie McMahon addresses SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon winning the WWE World Cup! Alexa Bliss announces the Raw Survivor Series women's team! Brock Lesnar returns!

Drew McIntyre beats Kurt Angle with the Angle Slam and an ankle lock. (Had Angle won, he would have become captain of the Raw Survivor Series men's team.)

(Fenix and Pentagon Jr.) Fenix is surprised by The OG'z (King, Homicide, Hernandez) attack on him, and Pentagon Jr. tells them that he and Fenix are not toys in their war with Konnan. He says that if Homicide wants a piece of him, then he will give him what he deserves in the ring tonight, as revenge is a dish best served cold.

We hear from "The Machine" Brian Cage, who is tired of Sami Callihan's games and hiding. He says that if Sami wants him in Ohio, then he is coming down there with the X Division Championship, give him the real Brian Cage experience and drop everything in Ohio with the Drill Claw.

The Latin-American Xchange (Konnan, Santana, Ortiz) beat "Reborn" Matt Sydal and Ethan Page.

Backstage, Kiera Hogan talks with Allie. Allie apologizes for last week, and insists she is fine. Kiera, however, wants the truth, and Allie tells Kiera about how she left her soul in the undead realm and how there is a dark force trying to consume her ever since she saw Rosemary at Bound For Glory. Kiera tells Allie she has her back, and that they must end Su Yung together.

Pentagon Jr. beats Homicide with a surprise backslide pin. After the match, Hernandez attacks Pentagon Jr. Fenix jumps in to fight Hernandez, and Pentagon Jr. lays Hernandez out during an attempted Border Toss. King then gets in the ring and hits Pentagon Jr. with a flapjack, then The OG'z (King, Homicide, Hernandez) get the upper hand to end the show.
