Backstage, Blake Howard interviews Tony D'Angelo. D'Angelo says that it has been big premium live event after big premium live event for him and that his new competitors have forgotten who they are dealing with. He says they Zilla Fatu, Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana are only concerned with the NXT Championship due to what it can do for their careers, then says that he beat three men to win the title and will beat three men to keep it.
Sarah Schreiber is at a local bowling alley with The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor, Ricky Smokes, Jackson Drake, Myka Lockwood), who think that Myles Borne and Tavion Heights are not real friends like they are, saying that their road to NXT has created a bond between them. The Vanity Project are focused on winning the NXT North American and Tag Team Championships at Heatwave.
Nattie is in the ring. Nattie sayss he came to NXT to fight Jaida Parker, as she saw something in Jaida was special and something she has not seen in a long time, saying that Jaida is a million bucks and can knock her on her ass. She also says that Jaida has wasted potential, as she has all the tools, and that when Jaida wrestled her, she stepped up. Nattie tells Jaida she gave her her attention, which she calls the most prestigious thing in women's wrestling. Jaida Parker shows up and says the fans feel otherwise about her, then admits that she doubted herself and took some losses and that Nattie is not special. She says she can see through Nattie, as she was on the come-up and Nattie tried to break her. Jaida says Nattie reminded her of who she was, and that she does not want her acceptance or her guidance. After Jaida says that Nattie came to her to become relevant again, Nattie challenges Jaida to a submission match. Jaida accepts the challenge, and says that she will be the one to tap Nattie out.
Keanu Carver beats Kam Hendrix after Mason Rook shows up from out of nowhere and takes out Kam Hendrix on the outside.
On tonight's NXT Spotlight, Kelani Jordan talks about her road to NXT and to where she is now. She says that Oba Femi, Lola Vice and Kendal Grey followed her path, but she did it faster and that she did not need a group to make herself relevant. Kelani says that she will beat Kendal Grey for the NXT Women's Championship on the first shot just like she did the NXT Women's North American Championship and the Total Nonstop Action Knockouts World Championship.
We hear from Zilla Fatu, who says that Heatwave became a whole lot hotter when he went from #1 free again to #1 contender. He mentions the necklace that reminds him of his father Umaga, then says that his last name is a blessing and a curse. He says the fans will remember his first name more than his last, and while he gets excited when he talks, he gets more excited in the ring. Zilla says that he will win the NXT Championship at Heatwave, and that everyone will know why they call him "The Main One."
Kali Armstrong beats Zaria after countering the F5 with a roll-up. As per pre-match stipulation, Kali is added to Kendal Grey vs. Zaria for the NXT North American Championship-WWE Women's Speed Championship Unification Match at Heatwave, making the match a Triple Threat Match.
Backstage, Kendal Grey meets the doctor with NASCAR driver William Sawalich. Kendal finds out that she is cleared, but further damage to her right ear could lead to hearing loss and further balance issues. Wren Sinclair mentions that Kali Armstrong has been added to her match at Heatwave, then everyone takes a deep breath.
Birthright (Lexis King, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, Charlie Dempsey, Uriah Connors) beat Noam Dar, Romeo Moreno, Dorian Van Dux and "Super" Sean Legacy in an eight-man tag match.
Backstage, after General Manager Robert Stone makes sure officials are ready for chaos at tonight's NXT Heatwave Summit, Keanu Carver shows up and says he is in no mood for a rematch after Mason Rook's interference, saying that the referee's decision is final. Shiloh Hill shows up and gets a match with Naraku after he tells Stone that he has gotten his vision back.
Rey Fenix retains the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against EK Prosper.
Backstage, Myles Borne and Tavion Heights are with NASCAR Driver Sam Mayer. Tavion is ready to do the heavy lifting if their tag team title match first, but Myles says that he will be fine and that Tavion cannot let nerves control him, as it is "one lap at a time, one match at a time." All of a sudden, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger show up, wanting a shot at the tag titles after Heatwave, but Tavion says they're handling their reign one match at a time.
Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair head to the ring for the NXT Heatwave Summit. Kendal says she has heard everything that Kelani Jordan has had to say, and while Kelani is good, she keeps making excuses. Kendal says she has gone from being Evolve Women's Champion from NXT Women's Champion in the last year. Kendal says that Kelani can keep calling herself "the standout," but she is the benchmark, especially when she took risks, defended her titles more often than every 100 days and did not take time off. Kendal says the target is on her back, and Kelani had better not miss. Kelani shows up and says she put that target on Kendal's back and that it will only take her one shot to beat her, because on Sunday, she will take Kendal's title and put her on the bench. Sinclair says they will be in her home state, and that she and Kendal will stay champions. Zaria shows up and mocks Sinclair before stating that she will unify her title and remove every bad memory of the Women's Speed title forever. Kali Armstrong shows up and says she has beaten both Zaria and Wren Sinclair back to back and that she will come home with both titles. Grayson Waller shows up and says that while the women are easy to look at, they are hard to listen to. He appreciates them being part of the ten percent he talks about, then says he has taken over NXT and while the women will do well, the world will be talking about him. Tony D'Angelo shows up and says Grayson came back to reinvent himself, but Grayson will do what he always does, which is being a disappointment. Cruz Montana shows up from out of the crowd and says he knew NXT was dysfunctional, but now he believes every word, and he somewhat likes it. He then says the difference between himself and everyone else is that everyone came to talk and he came here to throw hands. He beats up two members of security, and a brawl breaks out. Security quickly moves in to restore order. Zilla Fatu suddenly shows up and takes out multiple people with a dive off the top rope to the outside before taking the NXT Championship and raising it up in the corner while Kendal and Sinclair raise their titles up to end the show.
