Generation NXT - NXT recap for December 17, 2024

We look back on the history of WWE in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Oba Femi beats Axiom.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Eddy Thorpe. Eddy Thorpe says he is brilliant and fooled everyone. General Manager Ava shows up and says Eddy took a shortcut, but Eddy does not care, and says he will become the new NXT Champion.

In footage from over the weekend, Karmen Petrovic chats with Dion Lennox, who says that Ashante "Thee" Adonis may be legitimately be trying to help her and recommends she apologize to him. Karmen hugs Lennox, which Ashante sees and views as an act of betrayal. After Karmen and Adonis leave, Dion Lennox finally has enough and decides it is time to go back to reading books and minding his own business.

Meta-Four (Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson) beat Zaria and Sol Ruca.

In backstage footage from last week, Tyson Dupont confront Tyriek Igwe for refusing to shake hands with Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, but Tyriek Igwe says he is sick of losing. Wes Lee overhears this discussion as Tyson says there are better ways of handling this, then tells Tyson he should re-assess himself and that NXT is cutthroat before telling Tyriek that he has his back.

Jaida Parker beats Wren Sinclair after OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price) and No Quarter Catch Crew (Myles Borne and Tavion Heights) brawl their way to the back.

Shotzi, Tatum Paxley and Gigi Dolin talk about how they have so much in common. Tatum appreciates being saved by new friends and not having to be lonely anymore, but Gigi says they have to take down The Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, Jazmyn Nyx). Tatum says she will rip The Fatal Influence's heads off and that they will not see it coming. Meanwhile, The Fatal Influence says that Shotzi, Tatum and Gigi do not have what they have, then The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) shows up and state that The Fatal Influence is not as united as they think they are.

Nathan Frazer and Axiom retain the NXT Tag Team Championships against Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang) despite Axiom not being 100% for the match.

Backstage, Je'Von Evans confratulates Hank Walker and Tank Ledger on their win last week, and pictures them being champions in 2025. Meanwhile, a miserable-feeling "All Ego" Ethan Page watches from the background. Ethan Page then pushes his way past everyone as Je'Von talks about nearly winning the Iron Survivor, much to everyone's concern.

Backstage, Lexis King meets with Charlie Dempsey. The two of them go through a "deck of cards" training regiment, and Lexis is able to keep up with Dempsey. Dempsey gives Lexis a match for the Heritage Cup Championship.

"All Ego" Ethan Page shows up and heads to the ring unexpectedly while not in the best of moods, and says everyone has a right to boo him. Ethan Page says he has made a long eighteen-year journey to get to NXT, and says he has promised his family and his daughter that he would win the big one, and he did it in record time. He also credits his wife, saying that without her, there would be no Ethan Page and he would not be in NXT. He says that he got to live his dream because of her, but now when he loses, his family loses. He says that his family is sad and disappointed and that it eats him alive, and that he does not know if he loves doing this anymore and that he has lost his smile. All of a sudden, Je'Von Evans shows up and apologizes, but says it does not feel good hearing about other peoples' accomplishment and seeing his cocky ego before saying that this is not who Ethan Page is. Je'Von Evans says he saw the real Ethan at Heatwave when he saw him tell his family that he loved them after he won the title, and says that not everyone can do that. He also says that the joy upon seeing his family as champion was that of a proud father. Je'Von says that Ethan deserves to be in NXT and that the fans know that he deserves to be in NXT, then tells him to drop the "All Ego" act and show off who he really is, as both he and the fans are proud of him. Ethan agrees, saying he should not be worried about losing his title, but taking Je'Von's. He then hits Je'Von with the microphone and beats him up before grabbing a metal folding chair and scaring a referee away. Ethan then wraps a chair around Je'Von's neck and stomps it, causing Je'Von to spit out blood before referees show up.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Trick Williams, who wishes Je'Von Evans a speedy recovery before addressing Eddy Thorpe, telling him that he also gets what he wants by showing he is worthy of holding the NXT Championship. Oba Femi suddenly shows up and hopes Trick wins tonight, as he wants to beat him for the NXT title. Trick says he looks forward to it.

We hear from Stephanie Vaquer, who says that Cora Jade does not know her and how she tirelessly worked to get to NXT and that she will become everything Cora wants to be. She says that next week, she will take Cora Jade to Hell.

Eddy Thorpe vs. Trick Williams for the NXT Championship ends with both men pinning each other with both of their shoulders on the mat at the same time after the referee is knocked out and another referee takes his place. The first referee claims Thorpe won by placing his hand over Trick, and the second referee claims Trick won, even though both men clearly had their shoulders on the mat. Both referees explain what happened to General Manager Ava when she arrives as the show ends.
