Collision Course - Collision recap for January 13, 2024

Adam Copeland heads to the ring to start tonight's show and issues another "Cope Open" challenge. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor and "Taiga Style" Lee Moriarty) show up, and Shane Taylor makes it clear that they are here for a fight, are not here for the fans and that they are going to win tonight at Copeland's expense. We then see a video package for Lee Moriarty, then Moriarty says he is the prize fighter for Shane Taylor Promotions and one of the best young technical wrestlers in the world and that he will prove it by making Copeland tap out in the middle of the ring. Copeland says that if Moriarty cannot back his words up, he will beat the hell out of him.

Adam Copeland beats "Taiga Style" Lee Moriarty with the crossface, now known as the Grindhouse. After the match, Copeland tells Christian Cage "I'm still coming for your scrawny ass."

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviws FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and Daniel Garcia. Wheeler says that after last week, they will get along just fine, and that last week should have been the end of it had The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews) left them laying. He says that they will get their revenge in blood. Harwood questions if the three of them can get along, but agrees that they all have like mindsets and love wrestling deep down in their souls. He says that tonight, they might have to dance all over The House of Black. Garcia says Saturday night is all right for fighting and that Collision is the place to be if he wants to grow. He says that The House of Black has put their hands on people he loves for far too long and that they will get what is coming to them tonight.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara). Sammy Guevara says history will repeat itself again when they become tag team champions at Battle of the Belts IX. He says that "Absolute" Ricky Starks and Big Bill have been great champions, but all great things must come to an end, and that happens tonight. Jericho says Big Bill and Starks have done a tremendous job as champions and have exceeded everyone's expectations, but they will take it to the streets of Norfolk, Virginia and fulfill their destiny that started when AEW did. He says the streets both giveth and taketh away, and that he and Sammy will seek and destroy and walk out AEW World Tag Team Champions.

The Mogul Embassy ("The Machine" Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona) retain the Ring of Honor World Six-Man Tag Team Championships against "The Murderhawk Monster" Lance Archer and The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch) in a match that also sees Jake "The Snake" Roberts punch Prince Nana out. After the match, Prince Nana declares The Mogul Embassy the greatest Six-Man Tag Team Champions of all time and that he and Swerve Strickland have watched Bullet Club Gold ("Switchblade" Jay White, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn) complain about how they needed more titles in their collection, especially theirs. He then says that Jay White could not even beat Swerve in the Continental Classic, then declares The Mogul Embassy the greatest faction in AEW before announcing that next Wednesday, The Mogul Embassy will challenge Bullet Club Gold to a match if Bullet Club Gold is ready for the challenge.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Preston Vance and Jose the Assistant. The Undisputed Kingdom (Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett) suddenly interrupts and wishes Preston good luck at Battle of the Belts IX. Preston takes offense to this and tells Roddy that after he becomes champion, he will kick Roddy's ass next week.

"The Natural" Dustin Rhodes beats Willie Mack, then checks on him and raises his hand after the match.

Backstage, we hear from Bullet Club Gold ("Switchblade" Jay White, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn). The three of them make fun of Prince Nana and The Mogul Embassy ("The Machine" Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona), then Jay White says The Mogul Embassy are getting comfortable without Bullet Club Gold to keep them in check. Jay White accepts their challenge and proclaims that they will be the next Ring of Honor World Six-Man Tag Team Champions.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes. The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, "The Prodigy" Nick Wayne, Killswitch, Shayna Wayne) shows up, and Christian Cage says he could not help but notice the company Dustin was keeping last week and says that if he is a friend of Adam Copeland is an enemy of his. Dustin Rhodes tells Christian Cage to show him some respect and make it clear that he wants the TNT Championship, then tells Christian that if he has the balls, he will put it on the line Wednesday. Christian calls this "a beautiful dream" that Dustin has concocted and says it would be a bigger dream if his father was alive to see it. Christian says Dusty Rhodes may be a legend, but nobody says the same about Dustin. Dustin tells Christian that a storm is coming for him and that he had better get his balls ready, for talk is cheap and he will tap dance all over his ass.

"Hangman" Adam Page beats JD Drake with the Buckshot Lariat after hitting Anthony Henry with an Arihara moonsault.

"The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo beats Red Velvet with the Venus de Milo.

Hook beats Kevin Matthews with Redrum.

"Daddy Magic" Matt Menard guests on commentary for the next match.

The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews) beats FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and Daniel Garcia. After the match, Brody King attacks "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard and throws him into the ring. When Malakai Black hits Matt Menard with Black Mass, Cash Wheeler and Daniel Garcia get in the ring with metal folding chairs and go on the attack, forcing Malakai and Matthews to retreat as Brody King is hit with a three-man Shatter Machine.

The show ends with Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara) brawling with "Absolute" Ricky Starks and Big Bill outside of the arena.
