Collision Course - Collision recap for January 6, 2024

Sting and Darby Allin beat The Workhorsemen (JD Drake and Anthony Henry). "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair is in Sting and Darby's corner for the match, and helps Sting and Darby fend off a pre-bell attack by The Workhorsemen.

We see a video package for Sting vs. Darby Allin vs. The Don Callis Family ("The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs) on next week's Dynamite.

Eddie Kingston retains the AEW Continental Crown Championship against Trent Beretta.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale and Boots the Lizard. Willow thinks Stokely Hathaway is acting weird, then says she is only focusing on the hot start that she and Kris had at the beginning of the year. Kris says they had big accomplishments in 2023 and that they plan to keep it going.

We hear from Hook, who says that his win percentage is second-to-none and that it is time for him to go after another championship. He says he has been watching his next target from a young age, and he wants Samoa Joe and the AEW World Championship.

Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) beat "The Outlaw" Bryan Keith and Komander in a Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championship Proving Grounds Match.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews "Switchblade" Jay White and The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn). The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn) suddenly show up, and Jay White says this is none of The Acclaimed's business. As The Gunns and Max Caster argue, Anthony Bowens steps in and says that the only way to the top is through factions. He says it is a crazy idea, and tells them Jay White and The Gunns to think about it. Jay White and Colten Gunn dismiss this, but Austin Gunn thinks Bowens has a good idea.

Adam Copeland heads to the ring. Copeland talks about the war that he and Christian Cage had at Worlds End, then says that when it comes down to the two of them, he works harder, and that Christian should be kissing Killswitch's ass. He then says that he will start earning another shot at the AEW TNT Championship tonight, and that he is already in his gear ready for a fight. Copeland then issues an open challenge for anyone willing to step up to him. Maria Kanellis-Bennett, Griff Garrison and Cole Karter show up, with Griff Garrison in his gear ready to wrestle. Griff Garrison introduces himself as a man who steps up to the plate against a Hall of Famer. Copeland says Garrison reminds him of his younger self, then tells him he is stepping up from below sea level to Mount Everest. Garrison slaps Copeland in the face, and Copeland admits that while he likes him even more after that, he has to kick his ass.

Adam Copeland beats Griff Garrison with a crossface. After the match, Cole Karter attacks Copeland from behind, but misses the 450 splash from the top rope. Copeland then hits Karter with a Spear.

Backstage, we hear from "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Sting and Darby Allin. Ric Flair says that next week, Sting returns to where he returned to wrestling after six years. Sting says he is ready and that he will not just coast his way through the last few weeks, and that it will be showtime.

We hear from Serena Deeb. She says she has locked herself in a dojo and has refused the shackles placed upon her. She says that it takes 10,000 hours to become a master, and that she has become a master of a thousand holds before her return to AEW.

Claudio Castagnoli beast Andrew Everett.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Big Bill and "Absolute" Ricky Starks. Ricky Starks says he knows the fans are awaiting his return at Daily's Place following his debut, and that everything will go out the window next week when he cuts the legs out from Sammy Guevara and destroys him. He says that he the only thing he knows is how to be absolute and that he will be absolute against Sammy. Big Bill then says that he hopes that Sammy and Chris Jericho are here next Saturday for a Street Fight for the tag team titles, assuming Sammy survives Starks.

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) beats The House of Black (Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews) after Daniel Garcia shows up and hits Brody King with a chair as Brody King heads towards the ring before willing FTR to get back into the match. Harwood wins the match with a surprise roll-up on Buddy Matthews. After the match, Brody King, Matthews and Malakai attack Daniel Garcia and FTR, and Malakai roundhouse kicks a chair into Harwood's head. Afterwards, Julia Hart rings the bell for a ten-bell salute.
