Raw Deal - Raw recap for December 18, 2023

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) head to the ring to start tonight's show.Finn Balor says The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) earned it after running the gauntlet, and while it is the biggest match of their careers and the biggest night of their lives, it is just another night at the office for him and Damian Priest. Rhea Ripley tells Ivy Nile that if she runs her mouth again, she will make what she did to Maxxine Dupri pale in comparison. She then says that The Judgment Day ran 2023 and will run 2024. As Dominik says The Judgment Day will run WWE, R-Truth shows up, still thinking he is a part of The Judgment Day and that the beatdown from last week was his initiation, and says all those licks hurt and that Damian Priest when he said he did not like him. JD McDonagh tells R-Truth to get out of the ring right now if he is worried about getting hurt, then R-Truth says it looks like everyone is looking for a fight and that he needs somebody to beat up on before staring at McDonagh. R-Truth then has an idea and proposes that he and McDonagh squash the beef in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight so they can be a happy family. McDonagh says the match is already happening right now and that R-Truth is not in The Judgment Day when R-Truth looks up where 34th Street is. R-Truth then proposes that this be a "Loser Leaves Judgment Day" match. Priest humorously agrees to this, saying it is a good idea, then McDonagh says that R-Truth will need a miracle to beat him.

R-Truth beats JD McDonagh in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight after R-Truth falls on top of JD McDonagh at the top rope and through a table, laying on top of McDonagh for a pinfall.

Backstage, we hear from Kayden Carter and Katana Chance. They say that they will become women's tag team champions and that Chelsea Green and Piper Niven's time is up.

Nia Jax heads to the ring. Before Nia can say anything at all, Becky Lynch shows up, and Nia leaves the ring. Becky dares Nia to say what she has to say about her to her face, and Nia says that as much as she would like to break her face again, she has more important matters, and that she was going to announce that she is entering the women's Royal Rumble. Becky says that the crowd cares more about her being her and that she has come around for a fight, and Nia says they have never fought because "they" are afraid of what she would do to Becky. She says Becky is the moneymaker of the company and that if they went one-on-one, it would end. She says Becky is the size of her leg and that she would break her face all over again. Becky says that she will fight anyone, any time, anywhere, and that Nia, not "them", is the one person keeping this from happening, and that Nia does not want the fight to happen so she does not lose her notoriety from breaking Becky's nose. She then says that if Nia wants to prove her wrong, all she has to do is fight her right here and right now. Nia Jax calls for a referee, then teases getting in the ring only to tell Becky she will not get her fight and that it will happen on her terms. She then says that it will happen in her hometown of San Diego at Day 1 in two weeks, and that Becky's daughter will ask Becky why she is uglier than usual. As Nia turns around and brags about breaking Becky's face again, Becky runs out of the ring and gets on top of Nia. This starts a brawl where Nia quickly lays Becky out.

We see Kofi Claus' appearance from earlier tonight.

Kofi Claus meets DIY backstage, and Johnny Gargano gets a Jey Uso shirt for his son. DIY then meet with The Miz and thank him for last week, then Jackie Redmond interviews The Miz. The Miz says that the boulder at the top of the mountain is sturdy but the foundation is cracked, and when he rattled Gunther, Gunther showed a bit of personality. Miz says that Gunther is the one feeling the pressure as he says he will become a nine-time Intercontinental Champion.

Gunther retains the WWE Intercontinental Championship against The Miz. (As per pre-match stipulation, The Miz cannot challenge for the Intercontinental Championship again for as long as Gunther is champion.)

We see a video package for The Creed Brothers (Julius and Creed Brothers).

Backstage, Gunther is applauded and complimented by Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser. Gunther says they have no reason to be jolly and that he has been the only person pulling his weight, saying that he has been the only one contributing while Kaiser and Vinci have been nothing more than "write-offs." Gunther then says he will leave for a few weeks to recharge while they stay behind and try to impress him. Kofi Claus shows up, but when Kaiser tells him to leave, Kofi gifts him a lump of coal. Kaiser gets mad, and he and Vinci leave.

Backstage, Shinsuke Nakamura reads a Christmas story where he plots to live out "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes' story, saying Cody is through before calling his father inbred and making fun of him. He is soon attacked by Cody, and security has to get between them as they brawl through the crowd. The brawl soon makes its way ringside, and Cody gets the upper hand before security stops him from hitting Nakamura with the Cross Rhodes on the announce table.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce meets with Akira Tozawa and makes a match for him - reluctantly - before Chelsea Green and Piper Match show up wanting their match cancelled. Pearce refuses, and they leave. "Big" Bronson Reed then shows up wanting to talk about challenging for the Intercontinental Championship.

Katana Chance and Kayden Carter beat Chelsea Green and Piper Niven to become the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions!

Backstage, Ivy Nile is ready for Rhea Ripley. Maxxine Dupri thanks Ivy for having her back, and Ivy says that she plans to be the next WWE Women's World Champion before leaving to head to the ring with The Creed Brothers. Suddenly, Akira Tozawa shows up and says he has a match with Ivar, who is in the room with Valhalla. Gable tells Tozawa that was not what he meant when he told him to go big.

Backstage, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance are congratulated by the rest of the women's division as well as Kofi Claus. As they leave with Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell, the former of whom Katana thanks, Natalya tells Shayna Baszler that the new champions will need new challengers.

Ivar beats Akira Tozawa.

WWE wishes "Stone Cold" Steve Austin a happy birthday.

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins heads to the ring. Rollins says that he will continue to the best World Heavyweight Champion in the business and that 2023 will be nothing compared to 2024, when he starts by defending his title against Drew McIntyre. Before Seth can say much else, McIntyre shows up, and Rollins lays the World Heavyweight Championship down flat in the middle of the ring. McIntyre enters the ring, and Rollins says he has not forgotten the Glasgow Kiss from a few weeks ago as he tells him to tread lightly. McIntyre says they have their match, then says he is proud of Rollins for not kissing arse for CM Punk and telling him the truth. He calls Rollins "a real leader" for doing this, and says that Rollins is on top of the world right now. McIntyre then says he has done some reflection as of late and has started to see his family getting older, and for the first time ever, he has questioned if his career was worth it. He says that Becky Lynch has been in the exact same situation of being far away and sacrificing for family and that Rollins has been part of both the good and the bad conversations, and says that his own family has told him to keep making those sacrifices. He also says that some of those family members who were behind him are gone now, and that he no longer wants the title, but needs the title, to show that his career and sacrifices were worth it. Rollins says he does not know whether or not to believe McIntyre due to his actions as of late, then says he respects him for saying he would find his way back and doing it. He then asks what makes McIntyre think the outcome will be different. Rollins says McIntyre may have changed, but McIntyre still points the finger at everyone else and refuses to take responsibility for his own actions. He talks about how he meant it when he told CM Punk that he hated him, and while he does not McIntyre, he pities him. He then wishes McIntyre a merry Christmas and says he will meet him in a couple of weeks. McIntyre grabs Rollins, and Rollins strikes at him immediately. McIntyre strikes back, telling Rollins he does not need his pit, then hits him with the Alabama Slam into the ring steps.

Backstage, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes thanks The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) for their help last week, then tells them to crack The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Damian Priest) and that he hopes they leave as champions.

Kofi Claus shows up to throw more gifts into the crowd. All of a sudden, he is attacked by Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci. As they continue to attack Kofi, "Main Event" Jey Uso shows up and makes the save before challenging Kaiser to a match.

"Main Event" Jey Uso beats Ludwig Kaiser after Kofi Claus comes back and beats up Giovanni Vinci.

Backstage, as everyone else in The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio) makes fun of JD McDonagh for losing to R-Truth, Rhea Ripley says losing reflects negatively on them and tells them to get serious, then says they need to start making an example out of anyone who steps to them. After it is made clear that McDonagh is still in The Judgment Day, Rhea says that she has talked to General Manager Adam Pearce and that Ivy Nile will get her title match at Day 1, then says tonight is about Finn Balor and Damian Priest.

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Damian Priest) retain the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships against The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed).
