Raw Deal - Raw recap for June 7, 2021

Before the next match, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Omos show up. Styles congratulates all five teams in the tag team battle royal for being part of his "state of the tag team division adress." He hopes to defend the Raw tag team titles against the best when WWE gets back on the road. Styles address all five teams - including a solo Lince Dorado, who is here alone due to Gran Metalik being injured - and when AJ Styles describes his team with positive adjectives, The New Day describes them with negative ones, including "booty." As Kofi says that Styles and Omos are not a registered tag team, Styles says they are the tag team champions. Orton tells Styles to shut up, and Riddle says shutting up has worked wonders for his relationship with Orton before he rambles on. Orton has to tell Riddle to stop - which he does - then Styles asks who else wants to interrupt him before The Miz - now in a wheelchair - and John Morrison show up. The Miz says that the tag team division has become somewhat dry, and Morrison says he has brought his "Drip Stick" tonight. Morrison shoots water from the bucket on Miz's wheelchair, then Miz announces that Morrison will represent the two of them and compete on his behalf in tonight's tag team battle royal. On the way to the ring, Miz nearly rolls down the ramp. Morrison catches him, then both Riddle and Orton hit RKOs to start the match.

Backstage, MVP and Bobby Lashley are in the executive suite and drinking champagne with their entourage.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Omos guest on commentary for the next match.

The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) eliminates Lince Dorado (representing The Lucha House Party and an injured Gran Metalik), John Morrison (representing the team of himself and The Miz), the team of Mace and T-Bar, The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods), and the team of Randy Orton and Matt Riddle to win a tag team battle royal and earn a shot at the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships. During the match, Morrison eliminates Lince Dorado after spraying water into his eyes with the Drip Stick, but the Drip Stick does not help him against Mace and T-Bar, who eliminate him soon after.

Backstage, WWE officials Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are met by Charlotte Flair, who wants her loss from Nikki Cross last week stricken from her record. Pearce and Deville refuse, and Charlotte accuses them of career jealousy. Charlotte then asks for a rematch with Nikki Cross she says she deserves, then Rhea Ripley shows up and says that as much as she likes Charlotte getting flustered, she respects Nikki, and says she is more deserving of a rematch. Deville then proposes a tag team match where the two of them team up against Nikki Cross and a tag team partner of her choice. Charlotte says that unlike Rhea, she can be professional about this.

Backstage, The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) celebrate their tag team battle royal win, and are about to have a feast when "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Omos show up with a turkey leg. Styles calls them "wannabe Vikings," but Erik says the way he lives honors the Vikings before him, and if Styles has a problem with that, they have a problem. Styles says this is why Vikings no longer exist, then he and Omos leave.

Elias is in the ring. He plays his guitar, then says there will be no other introductions tonight and that it is Jaxson Ryker's fault that they will not become tag team champions, saying that if he did what he was told, they would be champions. He says that instead, Jaxson Ryker became completely unhinged, and that he had no choice but to leave him high and dry. He says that when he first saw Ryker, he saw the ghost of war and a man who would go to battle, but did not see a man who would not go to battle for him. Suddenly, Elias is attacked from behind by Jaxson Ryker, who has new American ring gear and a shorter haircut, and referees have to break up the assault.

SummerSlam is live on WWE Network and Peacock on Saturday, August 21st!

Jaxson Ryker beats Elias by count-out after Elias flees from Ryker and runs to the back.

Drew McIntyre heads to the ring and takes his sword into the ring with hi. After the commercial break, the ring is set up for a contract signing, and WWE officials Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are also in the ring to introduce Bobby Lashley. Strangely, Bobby Lashley refuses to show up, and Drew McIntyre says that he knows how this contract signing is going to go if Lashley did show up. He then tells a story about a Scottish king who lost several big battles, hid in a cave and saw a spider in a cave try to make a web on the ceiling and eventually did. He says this inspired the king to get back into battle, and he won Scotland's freedom. Drew McIntyre then says "If at first you don't succeed, beat Lashley's ass at Hell In A Cell," then tries to sign the contract. Suddenly, MVP and Bobby Lashley are on the TitanTron. MVP apologizes for Lashley being fashionably late as he says that there is some business they need to discuss, and MVP and Lashley head to the ring with their entourage. MVP congratulates McIntyre for "manipulating his way into facing Lashley at Hell In A Cell," then says he and Lashley held up their end of the bargain last week and asks how Lashley will be rewarded for his compliance. Lashley then says that if McIntyre loses at Hell In A Cell, McIntyre will never got another WWE Championship match against him ever again. As MVP speaks, McIntyre accepts this stipulation, but wants something from Lashley. He wants their match to be one-on-one and with no outside interference, and he wants it to be a Hell In A Cell Match. MVP tells McIntyre that Lashley accepts his terms. Deville and Pearce make the necessary changes, and McIntyre signs. Pearce says that this will be official as MVP asks if this will be notarized, then Lashley says that while he finds it charming that McIntyre is getting back to his Scottish roots, those who don't succeed at first just don't win against him. After he says that McIntyre will lose and leave with his legs tucked between his kilt, Lashley signs. McIntyre says he went through a lot in his last time in the Cell, and that he will put Lashley through it at Hell In A Cell. He says that Lashley will be begging him for mercy and that he will grant it with a Claymore between the eyes when he takes the WWE Championship from him. He tells him to enjoy the coming weeks and that he will see him in Hell. Lashley says he will beat him there also, and after Lashley gets up, McIntyre cuts the table in half with his sword.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Nikki Cross. Nikki says that she has had potential in her all this time, and that it is her tenacity and spirit that makes her a winner. She says that by believing in herself, her only regret will be in not taking chances and that she is willing to try. On the subject of a tag team partner, she says that it is somebody who she admires and that she reminds her of a superhero. The tag team partner is none other than Asuka.

Sheamus - now wearing a medical face mask - watches the next match from the commentary table. Before the next match, Sheamus asks how Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo can be deserving of a United States title shot after breaking his face. Carrillo and Ricochet then tease attacking Sheamus, scaring him in the process, to get him to stop talking.

Ricochet vs. Humberto Carrillo ends in a double count-out following a standing Spanish Fly off the ring apron. (The winner would have faced Sheamus for the WWE United States Championship.) Sheamus laughs at both Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo after the match.

Backstage, The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) are about to enter their dressing room when MVP wants a word with Kofi. MVP says he has been impressed with him as of late, but is not surprised he has been coming up short. He says that while he represents Bobby Lashley, he was a Kofi Kingston fan when he won the WWE Championship and cried tears of joy following their long history, and says that this moment inspired him to come back. He then says that "KofiMania" ended suddenly because Kofi was nothing like Lashley, and says that shaking hands with Drew McIntyre after losing to him made him look weak and that KofiMania's ended because he "wasn't ready." Kofi tells MVP that he is the last person he wants advice from and says his friends and family provide him the motivation he needs, and says that Lashley only fights for money, but MVP says that Lashley also fights for the power that comes with it.

We hear from Eva Marie. She says that we have heard her story over the last few weeks, but it is just the beginning, and that she has put in a lot of work and passion to be where she is now. She then says it is time to practice what she preaches. She says the ability to help others requires the courage tos how up and be seen, and that she is going to show another side of herself pull back the curtain and show what it takes to make resilience and hard work look effortless. It is then revealed she is arriving next week.

Kofi Kingston vs. Matt Riddle is official for later tonight.

Backstage, Mustafa Ali meets with Mansoor, and asks if he is ready for his match with Drew Gulak tonight. Mansoor says he is ready, but Mustafa tells him he is only ready for a fair fight and asks what he will do if Drew Gulak plays dirty. He tells him not to assume that everyone will play by the same rules he does, for this is not how the world works.

Jeff Hardy beats Cedric Alexander after kicking him out of the air and hitting him with the Twist of Fate.

Backstage, Rhea Ripley is met by Charlotte Flair, who tells her to follow her lead since she has more experience and tells her to take out Nikki - since she respects her so much - while she takes care of Asuka. Rhea says she will follow her straight to Hell in two weeks, then says her championship makes up for Charlotte's experience and that Charlotte should follow her lead.

Nikki Cross and Asuka beat Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley after Charlotte and Rhea finally turn on each other following a lack of cooperation and professionalism between them.

We hear from Alexa Bliss, who says that "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler not only interrupted her and Lily's playdate, but also for calling Lily "just a stupid doll." She says that Shayna is wrong, and that it will be a real scream when Shayna comes to play later tonight.

Mansoor beats Drew Gulak following a series of pinfall attempts.

Backstage, Randy Orton gives Matt Riddle the invisible key to allow him to talk again, but as soon as Riddle goes on endlessly about Burger King and getting back on the road, Orton thinks differently of it and tells him to be quiet again. When Riddle asks him if he is going to be in his corner in his match, Orton is unsure.

Kofi Kingston beats Matt Riddle after countering the RKO.

Backstage, Nia Jax meets with "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler. Nia says that Reginald is recovering after what Shayna did to her and says it was out of line. She offers Shayna her help, but Shayna says that Alexa Bliss will be the one needing help when she is done with her.

It's time for Alexa's Playground. As Alexa Bliss tells Lily that they could potentially make a new friends with Shayna Baszler, Shayna shows up before she is introduced. Shayna slams the rocking chair in the corner down onto the mat, then sits next to Alexa, who gives Shayna a chance to be her and Lily's new friend. She says that all Shayna has to do is apologize to Lily. Shayna says Alexa is more delusional she looks and says she is responsible for Reginald's accidents and for her and Nia Jax losing the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships, which Alexa simply laughs off. After Alexa says she just wants to be friends, Lily says through Alexa that it would be in Shayna's best interest to apologize to her. Shayna takes Lily and tells her she is sorry Lily is "just a stupid doll." Alexa attacks Shayna, but Shayna sends her out of the ring and stomps on Lily's head. Suddenly, the lights around the arena go haywire and jets of flame go off all around Shayna, causing Shayna to run to the back. Backstage, the lights continue to flicker in and out, and things nearly fall on Baszler as she moves away from the ring. Shayna soon finds herself locked in a room when the lights go out. Shayna finally finds an open door and locks herself in an office, but the lights go out. When the lights flicker again, Lily is in the room with her when Shayna looks in the mirror. She turns back, but Lily is gone. Shayna kicks the mirror, but when Lily is still in the reflection, Shayna panics.
