Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for February 7, 2020

The Miz and John Morrison show up to start tonight's show with The Dirt Sheet. In honor of the segment's return, they premiere a trailer for "Once Upon a Time on The Dirt Sheet," which also stars Miz's dad George, Lance Storm and John Laurinaitis. Afterwards, Morrison says that the fans' applause and acclaim would mean more if it came from a more esteemed group like "the Academy." Suddenly, The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) show up and give acclaim to Miz's dad's appearance in the trailer and relish in the fact that Kofi is Miz's dad's favorite wrestler before saying that Miz and Morrison thinking they can win the SmackDown tag team titles is "Richard Pryor-level comedy." Miz says that he and Morrison have beaten all the tag teams WWE has to offer to even get a shot at their titles, then The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) show up and say that Miz and Morrison have yet to beat them. Suddenly, Dolph Ziggler's music hits, then Miz and Morrison attack The New Day from behind as Ziggler and Robert Roode show up.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) beat Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode.

Backstage, Nikki Cross talks with Alexa Bliss. Alexa says she can beat Bayley in a Women's Championship match, as she has done it before. Nikki reminds her that she has to get through tonight's match first, but Alexa says that you don't become the first-ever SmackDown Women's Championship without having something twisted up one's sleeve.

Backstage, King Corbin enters a production truck and chews out a member of the production crew for playing the video of him being covered in dog food before grabbing him and throwing him down the flight of steps leading to the door of the truck. Referees and officials step in before things get worse.

Rlias is in the ring. He says he is in a fight with Cesaro, and he wants to know who has his back by asking who wants to walk with him. He then proceeds to perform a song called "Third Time's A Charm," before Cesaro interrupts him before he can get started. Sami Zayn shows up with Cesaro and says he is sorry to interrupt Elias much like how he interrupted him last week, and Elias says it is a miracle not to be interrupted following the last two-and-a-half years. Sami says that Elias not only interrupted him, but he made a fool of him after Shinsuke Nakamura lost the Intercontinental Championship. Sami then says that Elias will pay at the hands of Cesaro, and that Elias brought everything that happens to him from here on himself.

Elias beats Cesaro.

King Corbin shows up. He says that everyone in the arena needs to take a look at his crown, as it means that he is the King of the Ring and he will not be silenced. He says he will say what he wants when he wants, for it is his kingdom and everyone should be bowing down and listening to what he has to say. He calls last week "an abomination," and that Roman Reigns should have lost like the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs at the Super Bowl. He says that Roman should have been the one eating dog food, but he realizes he cannot do anything without The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) bailing him out. He asks when The Usos will figure out that they are carrying dead weight, then says that if Roman is as tough as he says he is, he would have fought him one-on-one, man-to-man at Royal Rumble. He says that if he did, he would have won the men's Royal Rumble match and would have headlined WrestleMania. Corbin then demands one more match with Roman, and says that the show will go nowhere until he gets Roman in the ring. As the fans boo Corbin, Corbin goes up to a fan in the front row and pours a drink on him. As he is about to embarrass the fan again, Roman shows up and hits Corbin with a Superman Punch before proceeding to beat him, nailing him with a Drive-By. Roman gets Corbin into the ring, but Corbin rolls out and retreats through the crowd. Roman takes the microphone and calls Corbin a coward, and says that Corbin wants one more match, he has it, and if he wants to go one-on-one, then he can tell his boys to stay at home, as they will go one-on-one in a steel cage.

We hear from Goldberg live via satellite. Goldberg says he watched Royal Rumble with his son last week, and not only did it entertain him, but it gave him the itch to compete again. He says that Brock Lesnar might be buys right now, but he is going for the Universal Championship again. Before he can announce who he is facing, he is interrupted by Bray Wyatt, who pretends to be a news anchor for "Firefly Fun House News" as he states that "The Fiend" accepts Goldberg's challenge. Mercy the Buzzard does the weather report, saying it will be a cold day in Hell before The Fiend loses the Universal Championship. Goldberg tells Bray that he will not fall for his tricks, as intimidation does not work on him. He then announces that The Fiend is next and leaves.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan is watching from the locker room when heath Slater shows up and says that Goldberg has no idea what he is getting himself into with "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. As Slater says he cannot understand why he would put himself in a match with The Fiend, he asks Daniel Bryan if he is okay. Daniel Bryan proposes that the two of them have a match in the ring right now.

We look back on Andre The Giant vs. Hulk Hogan for the WWF Championship from the February 5, 1988 episode of The Main Event.

An angry Daniel Bryan beats Heath Slater with the Lebell Lock after stomping his head in.

Renee Young interviews Braun Strowman in the ring. Strowman says that he still gets chills thinking about winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and while he has done some impressive things in WWE, he has always dreamed of holding a singles title until now. Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura show up, and Sami says that Strowman's win was fraudulent. He demands an honorable rematch, but Strowman says that nobody wants to hear Sami talk all night. Strowman says he will defend the Intercontinental Championship any time, any place, including here. Sami says it will happen, but not tonight, and not here, for he and Nakamura think before they act. He says they will be smart and surgical about it, and they will use every resource they have imaginable. Suddenly, Strowman is attacked from behind by The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder), and Sami and Nakamura join in. Strowman soon overpowers them and chases after Sami Zayn, but Nakamura lays Strowman out in the ring.

Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier is in the front row.

Backstage, Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) get ready for Otis' date with Mandy Rose next week with a montage of Otis getting into shape for the date, picking out clothes and learning how to eat at a fancy restaurant.

Sheamus beats Apollo Crews. After the match, Shorty G shows up before Sheamus can Brogue Kick Apollo again, but Sheamus lays him out, too.

Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin in a steel cage is official for Super Show-Down.

Carmella beats Naomi, Dana Brooke and Alexa Bliss after superkicking Naomi, who has just hit Alexa Bliss with the Rear View. After the match, Bayley - who has been ringside the entire match - attacks Camella from behind.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
