Generation NXT - NXT recap for January 15, 2020

In memory of Rocky Johnson, 1944 - 2020.

Keith Lee shows up to start tonight's show. After stating that he stands as #1 contender to the North American Championship, he admits that The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) has had a great 2019 and still hold all the championships right now. He says that The Undisputed Era has reached their limit while he is limitless, and next week, he will prove that by defeating Roderick Strong for the North American Championship. Suddenly, The Undisputed Era shows up. Adam Cole states that Keith Lee will go down like everyone else has, then The Undisputed Era gangs up on Lee only to be briefly overpowered by Keith Lee. After a chair shot from Strong, they go back on the attack. They then put Keith Lee's ankle through the chair so that Roderick Strong can stomp on it from the top rope, then Tommaso Ciampa shows up and makes the save for Keith Lee.

Finn Balor vs. Johnny Gargano is confirmed for NXT TakeOver: Portland.

Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle beat Mark Andrews and "Flash" Morgan Webster to advance to the semi-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

In footage from after NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II, Imperium (Walter, Fabian Aichner, Marcel Barthel, Alexander Wolfe) are furious about The Undisputed Era's (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) attack on them.

Cathy Kelley reports that medical personnel are currently evaluating Keith Lee and that an update will be available later this evening.

Tommaso Ciampa shows up. Ciampa says it is clear that The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) have a hit list, then says he does, too. He says that Adam Cole is on his hit list, and that when he took "Goldy," he took his life. He says that he wants and needs his life back and that he is taking it back. The Undisputed Era show up and eventually overpower Ciampa. Suddenly, Johnny Gargano runs into the ring and fends The Undisputed Era off, with Ciampa briefly teaming up with Gargano again in the process.

Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) beat KUSHIDA and Alex Shelley to advance to the semi-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. After the match, Grizzled Young Veterans reject the post-match handshake from KUSHIDA and Shelley, with Gibson saying they did not travel the world to do that and that they are the present and future of tag team wrestling.

In footage from earlier today, Robert Stone says that the NXT women's division is the best it's ever been and that Chelsea Green is better than the best.

We see a video package for Lio Rush, Tyler Breeze and Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, who are in a match to decide who will compete for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship at Worlds Collide that is coming up next.

We hear from Finn Balor, who says that Ilya Dragunov believes he belongs in the same ring as him, and if Dragunov wants to step up to him, he will put him down.

Angel Garza guests on commentary for the next match.

Isaiah "Swerve" Scott beats Tyler Breeze and Lio Rush in a three-way match to face Angel Garza for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship at Worlds Collide.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Rhea Ripley, who says that she will go through the winner of tonight's battle royal just like she will go through Toni Storm at Worlds Collide.

Cathy Kelley interviews Johnny Gargano when Tommaso Ciampa shows up and thanks Gargano for the save. The two of them then agree to face Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate and Trent Seven) as a team at Worlds Collide for old time's sake. The Undisputed Era then angrily approach Gargano and Ciampa, then Keith Lee shows up and overpowers them - and security - before telling Roderick Strong that the prophecy ends with him.

Next week: the semi-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic!

#DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs. Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate and Trent Seven) is official for Worlds Collide.

Bianca Belair wins a #1 contender's battle royal - which sees the return of Tegan Nox (who is eliminated by Dakota Kai despite Kai not even being a part of the match), Kacy Catanzaro and Mercedes Martinez - to face Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: Portland.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
