Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for January 14, 2020

Note: Tonight's show also recaps the action of the shows from the past weekend.

The Desi Hit Squad (Rohit Raju and Mahabali Shera) beats The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz), Reno Scum (Adam Thornstowe and Luster The Legend) and the team of TJP and Daga in a four-way tag team match.

We hear from Moose, who says that he proved that the Gore is irrelevant and that he is the walking legend. Tonight, he will prove once again that he is the greatest multi-sport athlete of all time when he beats three other competitors. After stating that he has beaten Fallah Bahh twice, that he is bigger than Ace Austin and that he has beaten Eddie Edwards on multiple occasions, he says that he will once again be known as a legend.

We hear from Ace Austin, who simply says "Aces up" about his four-way match tonight.

In backstage footage from Hard To Kill, Rich Swann tells Willie Mack that he is not a failure and that he had the wrestling world thinking he would single-handedly win the tag team titles for the two of them. He tells Willie Mack to look back on the footage of the match, for he killed it tonight and proved that he is the man. He then says that when he is back in action, there is no stopping them, for they will win the tag team titles.

Katie Forbes is seen lighting a candle in a hotel room, saying that the celebration that is about to happen will be "so lit."

We hear from Eddie Edwards, who says that it was himself against Michael Elgin and after they threw it all out there, he won back the Call Your Shot Trophy. Tonight, he plans to stay on the winning track by beating Fallah Bahh, Moose and Ace Austin in a four-way match, then the Call Your Shot Trophy will lead him to a championship.

We hear from Michael Elgin, who talks about his time in Japan and his match with Nakajima prior to Hard To Kill, then tells Eddie Edwards to pay attention.

We see Rob Van Dam in a hotel room, who says that every day is a party, then Katie Forbes shows up with a bottle of wine before RVD brags about his life and Jennifer shows up to celebrate with them. RVD then says the fans live vicariously through him, for wrestling is now a tribute to him. As Katie and Jennifer are about to make out with him, the footage is censored, then we see RVD and both women in bed while RVD is drinking a bottle of wine. (The footage ends up being so steamy that it gets Impact Wrestling banned from Twitch the following day.)

In backstage footage from Hard To Kill, Ken Shamrock says that Madman Fulton was a big, stronger guy and that he had to be quicker and smarter to out-position him and get the battle to go how he knew it would go. He says that Fulton made a mistake teaming with Sami Callihan, as Sami allows him to blow up and not think clearly, and that Fulton's anger is only an advantage for Sami as Sami only cares about winning. He says that Fulton has a future, but only without Sami Callihan. Shamrock says the night's win is a big deal, and that he has not thought past tonight before saying he will spend time with his family.

The Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week is Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle at Genesis 2009.

We hear from Johnny Swinger, who tries to play a pinball game that isn't even on while trying to hit on a woman playing Galaga.

Joey Ryan beats Johnny Swinger in a comedic match.

Next week: Impact Wrestling returns to Mexico!

Ace Austin retains the Impact X Division Championship against Fallah Bahh, Moose and Eddie Edwards in a four-way match.

We see Tessa Blanchard's post-match celebration with family and Impact Wrestling staff after Hard To Kill went off the air.

In backstage footage from Hard To Kill, Scott D'Amore congratulates Tessa Blanchard.

Josh Mathews has a sit-down interview with Tessa Blanchard. She says she knew who she was stepping into the ring with, and that Sami Callihan did not exactly who he was in the ring with, and without oVe (Jake Crist, Dave Crist, Madman Fulton) at ringside, she came out on top. She knows that Sami is upset right now and that there will be some sort of retaliation, and now that she has achieved the impossible, she is the face of the company and the one that is hunted backstage now. Tessa feels that none of this happened by accident and that this was meant to happen, and that she has always believed in herself. All of a sudden, Sami Callihan appears on the nearby television screen. Sami Callihan says that for the last 48 hours, all he has heard about is history, then says he is the only history maker in Impact Wrestling and that history was two-and-a-half years when he appeared unannounced and taking Impact where it had never been. He congratulates Tessa Blanchard and Impact management for finally getting what they wanted, then says that while Tessa may be the champion they want, he is the champion that everybody needs. He tells Tessa to keep one eye open, for he will come at her with all he has and never stop. Tessa tells Sami she will face her anywhere, any time, then Sami reveals he is not hard to find, as he is in the studio. Tessa finds the room where Sami was. Sami is nowhere to be found except another screen, saying he would not make it easy, that he will name the place and time and that she will never see him coming.
