Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for January 28, 2020

El Hijo del Vikingo beats "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander.

Backstage, Gabi Loren interviews Taya Valkyrie, who says that she is a good, honest person, but Jordynne Grace had to get involved. She says she will watch tonight's women's three-way match very closely.

In footage from earlier today, Moose says he is not one to make excuses, and that he only lost to Taurus last week because of Rhino. He says he has nothing to prove, and hopes that Rhino is watching tonight.

The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier) beat Pagano and Murder Clown.

We hear from Michael Elgin, who says that he thought he was getting through to Eddie Edwards and seeing the man he used to know, but he was wrong. He says that the Call Your Shot Trophy should be his. He says they have a best of five series, and while he's beaten him three times, he needs three more to win, take the trophy and take what is his: the Impact World Championship.

Moose beats Taurus. After the match, Rhino gets in the ring and hits Moose with a Gore as soon as Moose turns around.

We hear from Eddie Edwards, who says that Michael Elgin wants to talk and keep score. He says it doesn't matter how much they fight, as he will be the one with the trophy in the end when he starts the path to calling his shot to gold.

The Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week is Kurt Angle vs. "The Cowboy" James Storm from Genesis 2012.

Backstage, Gabi Loren interviews Joey Ryan, who finds Rob Van Dam's comments about him surprising. He says he does not buy RVD's reasoning that he is too extreme for him, and says that RVD is threatened because Katie Forbes "wants to touch it."

Taya Valkyrie guests on commentary for the next match.

Jordynne Grace beats Kiera Hogan and Madison Rayne in a three-way match to become #1 contender to the Impact Knockouts Championship.

We hear from Ace Austin, who boasts about his victories against Trey Miguel and Tessa Blanchard while stating that he has moved on to bigger and better things. He then says he plans to knock Tessa back down like he did to Trey.

Backstage, Johnny Swinger talks to Willie Mack about their loss from last week, and Willie Mack wants none of "The Mack and Pack Connection."

Backstage, Fallah Bahh is wearing matching gear alongside TJP, who says that he will beat El Hijo del Vikingo next week.

Daga and Dr. Wagner Jr. beat Reno Scum (Adam Thornstowe and Luster the Legend). After the match, oVe (Jake Crist, Dave Crist, Madman Fulton) attack Dr. Wagner Jr. and Daga while Reno Scum hold Dr. Wagner Jr.'s son back at ringside.

Backstage, Suzy encounters Rosemary in the electrical room. Rosemary asks Suzy if what she is looking for could be in the ring, then says that under the wing of the right teacher, she could make her into a warrior. Suzy is open to the idea of that, and Rosemary proposes they have a friendly match next week - which Suzy accepts - before handing Suzy some wrestling gear.

Michael Elgin beats Eddie Edwards in Match 1 of the Best of Five Series after elbowing Eddie into unconsciousness before locking in the crossface. Elgin leads 1-0.
