Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for January 7, 2020

The show begins with referees and officials separating Eddie Edwards and Michael Elgin at ringside. Eddie tells Elgin that they do not have to wait until Hard To Kill to kick Elgin's ass "New York City" style, then hits Elgin - and everyone else trying to hold him back - with a tope suicida.

Michael Elgin beats Eddie Edwards.

We see a video package for the events leading up to Rich Swann and Willie Mack vs. The North ("All Ego" Ethan Page and "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander) for the Impact World Tag Team Championships at Hard To Kill.

It is announced that due to Michael Elgin beating Eddie Edwards twice in a row after tonight, Eddie Edwards "Call Your Shot" Trophy will be on the line in their match at Hard To Kill.

The Desi Hit Squad (Rohit Raju, Raj Singh, Mahabali Shera) beat TJP, Fallah Bahh and Daga.

Backstage, Willie Mack meets with Rich Swann concerning their tag team title match at Hard To Kill, feeling that he may not be ready for the match and that they may be better off going their separate ways with Rich Swann's career taking off, so he does not get in the way as Swann reaches his full potential. Swann reminds Willie that he called him up because he knew he would get him to where he needed to be, and tells Willie not to sell himself short or thinking he is dragging him down, because when they are a team, they get the job done. Swann says he knows Willie is banged up, but he needs him on Sunday to become tag team champions, for there is no stopping them. Both men shake hands and hug.

We hear from oVe (Sami Callihan, Jake Crist, Dave Crist, Madman Fulton). Jake Crist tells Sami Callihan that Sunday night will be special for them, but Dave says it could have been a special night if it were not for him, and says that Sunday is bigger than all of them. He says that Sami is the man to lead Impact Wrestling into the future, and that Sunday is about how hard it is to kill oVe and take them off the pedestal, not Tessa Blanchard, and says that they will prove why Ohio means more than anything else when Sami Callihan retains the World Championship. He also says that Madman Fulton is the world's most dangerous man, not Ken Shamrock. Madman Fulton tells Ken Shamrock he has already broken his ribs, and on Sunday, he will tear every ligament, shatter his orbital bone and break everything.

Backstage, Johnny Swinger drugs Joey Ryan's water bottle only to find out Tommy Dreamer is behind him. Dreamer tells him it is time to grow up, saying he saw what he did and dares him to drink the water in the bottle or else he will hit him with a Kendo stick. Johnny drinks the water.

We see a video package for Trey Miguel vs. Ace Austin for the Impact X Division Championship at Hard To Kill.

We see a video package for Tessa Blanchard vs. Sami Callihan for the Impact World Championship at Hard To Kill.

Backstage, Father James Mitchell locks Suzy in a closet so that she does not follow him and Havok to the ring.

Havok beats Rosemary. During the match, Suzy mysteriously shows up and is frightened by what is going on in the match, then waves to the fans before guesting on commentary, where she meets Don Callis and Josh Mathews. Suzy says that she is looking for something, then Father James Mitchell grabs Suzy, drags her away from commentary and gets Rosemary away from her before keeping Suzy close and covering her eyes. All the while, Rosemary is distracted long enough to allow Havok the win.

ODB, Jordynne Grace and Tenille Dashwood beat Kiera Hogan, Madison Rayne and Taya Valkyrie. After the match, Jordynne confronts ODB for tossing her out of the ring so that she could pin Taya, and Tenille has to stand between them as Jordynne pushes ODB's flask away from her.

Backstage, Moose meets with Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes and asks RVD if he can trust him despite their history from Slammiversary. RVD tells Moose he is out there to win, and Moose tells him to bring his A-game. Meanwhile, Johnny Swinger is passed out on a nearby couch, and Joey Ryan and "The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams notice this. After Petey asks Joey if he has a match with Swinger next week, Joey then asks Petey for a permanent marker so he can draw on Swinger.

Rhino and "The Machine" Brian Cage beat Moose and Rob Van Dam.

Here are the top five moments from tonight's show!
