Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for November 1, 2019

Tom Phillips, Renee Young and Aiden English replace Michael Cole and Corey Graves on commentary tonight due to transportation issues. (After Crown Jewel, some WWE Superstars were able to make it back to the United States before SmackDown; others were not so fortunate and - allegedly due to mechanical issues - were not able to return to the United States until after SmackDown.)

Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar show up. Heyman states that Brock Lesnar is "really, really pissed off" tonight, and - after a replay of Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez from Crown Jewel in its entirety - states that Lesnar has attained retribution only for Rey Mysterio to show up and attack him. We then see the footage of Rey attack Lesnar with a steel chair after the match, he then states that they went to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon for a match with Rey, but did not get it due to brand extension exclusivity. Heyman then states that if Rey can't be brought to SmackDown, then Lesnar will head to Raw for Rey, and if anybody in WWE has a problem with it, there will be nothing that they can do about it and they will sue right back if WWE sues them. He then announces that Lesnar has quit SmackDown in order to go to Raw and hunt for Rey. Lesnar and Heyman then leave. Unbeknownst to them, however, Triple H and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels have overseen them leaving.

Bayley retains the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship against Nikki Cross. After the match, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler shows up from out of nowhere, send Sasha Banks into the ring post, then get in the ring and lays out Bayley. Baszler then leaves through the crowd.

Pat McAfee replaces Aiden English on commentary.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Sami Zayn. Sami says tonight is a weird night, and says that NXT may be here to take advantage of the situation. He tells the NXT Superstars to watch where they stick their noses, for if one of them steps to him, it will be bad news. All of a sudden, Matt Riddle and Keith Lee show up, and Sami Zayn immediately changes his tune, which gets awkward when he shows off his plain black under his shirt. He tries to get away, but Keith Lee and Matt Riddle follow him. Sami Zayn then runs for it, but they keep up with him. He then tries to run down the ramp, but Keith Lee and Matt Riddle catch him and get him in the ring. Sami tries to beg them off, but it doesn't work, and Keith Lee and Matt Riddle make Sami Zayn pay for those words.

The Miz shows up. He announces that Bray Wyatt was supposed to be his guest tonight, then we see a video package of Bray Wyatt's Universal Championship victory at Crown Jewel. Miz then announces that Bray cannot be be here tonight, then addresses the fact that NXT Superstars have been showing up tonight. All of a sudden, Tommaso Ciampa shows up. Ciampa questions whether Miz TV is "must-see" and whether or not Miz is the most "must-see Superstar", then says he is the greatest sports entertainer of all time. He states that Miz thinks the world revolves around him and that it is time that somebody gave him a reality check, as Miz is "everything wrong with Raw and SmackDown" while he is breaking his neck in NXT to prove how good he is. Ciampa says that while Miz plays the part, he is the part, and Miz says he has heard the same thing told to him for a long time and says that people talk about Ciampa when they talk about NXT. He then says that he has heard that people wanted to see them on the microphone, and that he expected Ciampa to say something more original. He says that if he and NXT are here to make a statement, then they should make that statement. Ciampa says that sounds like fighting words, and Miz simply says "You...me...right here...right now."

Tommaso Ciampa beats The Miz with a knee strike as Miz comes down from the top rope before hitting the Fairytale Ending.

Backstage, "The New" Daniel Bryan meets Triple H and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. Daniels asks them what they are doing backstage, and after Triple H mentions NXT being in the recent Survivor Series commercial, Daniel challenges him to a match. Triple H says he doesn't have his gear, then brings out Adam Cole. Daniel then challenges Adam Cole for the NXT Championship, and Triple H makes the match official.

Before the next match, Bianca Belair is seen attacking Dana Brooke and Carmella. Afterwards, Rhea Ripley and Tegan Nox show up. Ripley says that Fire & Desire (Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville) have no opponents tonight, then says they do now.

Tegan Nox and Rhea Ripley beat Fire & Desire (Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville) with an inverted cloverleaf from Ripley to Mandy which also sees Ripley lift Mandy off the ground during the hold.

Triple H and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels sit at ringside for the next match, then Stephanie McMahon shows up and credits the fans for kickstarting the Women's Revolution. We then see a video package for Lacey Evans and Natalya's history-making match at Crown Jewel.

Adam Cole retains the NXT Championship against "The New" Daniel Bryan. After the match, numerous NXT Superstars show up to celebrate with Adam Cole, then Triple H says that if anyone wants to pick a fight with NXT at Survivor Series, then he is going to build an army. He says that when you build an army, you look to your blood and you look to your family, and that they have fired the first shot. He tells Raw and SmackDown to show what they've got, and that they are NXT.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
