Generation NXT - NXT recap for May 9, 2018
Ricochet shows up to start tonight's show. Ricochet says that everywhere he went, he made sure people remembered him, and that it was his mission that after WrestleMania weekend, everyone was talking about him. He says NXT is all about taking over, and he plans to take over the brand that redefines what sports entertainment is all about. He says one can call it confidence or cockiness, but he will prove without a shadow of a doubt there is one and only Ricochet. Right now, there is only one thing on his mind: the NXT Championship. Suddenly, Velveteen Dream shows up. Velveteen Dream asks who gave Ricochet the authority to enter the ring and demand title opportunities, and tells him to take a step back. On the subject of Ricochet calling himself "the one and only," he admits Ricochet makes that look good, but says he is there is only one man and one experience, and Ricochet is looking at him. He says Ricochet can jump around the ring making a name for himself all he wants, but no matter how he flips or flops, he had better land in the back of the line behind him. Ricochet laughs, and tells Velveteen Dream he knows all about him and how he made the fans say his name, as well as how Aleister Black said his name after he kicked his head off. Velveteen Dream tells Ricochet that if he keeps running his mouth, "Dream over" will be a reality, not a saying. Ricochet says Velveteen Dream may be good, but he is not Ricochet. He also tells him to enjoy the spotlight while he can, as he plans to steal the show and the spotlight away from him. Velveteen Dream says Ricochet can try his best, but he can only try, and anything Ricochet can do, he can do better. Ricochet tells him to prove it. Velveteen Dream tries to get a cheap shot in, but drops down when Ricochet steps up. Velveteen Dream then leaves.
Ethan Carter III beats Raul Mendoza in his NXT television debut. After the match, Cathy Kelley interviews EC3. EC3 has brushed TakeOver aside, saying adversity makes the man and that he is a god of a man. He says the only thing anyone will see from going forward is victory after victory until NXT is "NX3."
Backstage, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan tell Pete Dunne they do not like him, but they ask him to team with them against The Undisputed Era. Dunne quietly accepts.
Dakota Kai beats Vanessa Borne. After the match, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler shows up and gets in the ring. She corners Dakota as Vanessa Borne gets up, then Baszler grabs Borne and locks in the Kirafuda Clutch. Dakota Kai gets out of the ring, but Baszler stares Dakota Kai down as she keeps the hold in and after she lets go.
We see footage from moments ago where Dakota Kai shows up backstage, and "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler catches up with her and intimidates her, daring Dakota Kai to kick her. Suddenly, Nikki Cross is seen laughing nearby.
War Raiders (Hanson and Raymond Rowe) beat Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic).
We see a video package for Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford).
Next week: Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong)!
Tommaso Ciampa beats Kassius Ohno in a destructive match. After the match, Ciampa attacks Ohno and chokes him out with his neck brace.
