Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for October 3, 2017

A moment of silence is held in remembrance of the Las Vegas tragedy.

Renee Young interviews "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura in the ring. Nakamura says sticks and stones may break his bones, but words will never hurt him. He says the greatest fear of all is the fear of the unknown, but Jinder will know when he beats him and becomes WWE Champion. Suddenly, The Singh Brothers (Sunil and Samir Singh) show up, and introduce Jinder Mahal. Instead of appearing from across the ring, however, Jinder appears - and attacks - from behind. Nakamura fights back, however, and when The Singh Brothrs get in the ring, they fare no better. The Singh Brothers then stop a possible Kinshasa, and the numbers game catches up to Nakamura. Jinder then hits the Khalass before lifting up the WWE Championship.

Natalya and Carmella beat Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair with a Sharpshooter to a distracted Charlotte after Carmella hits Becky Lynch in the back with the Money In The Bank briefcase.

We see a video package chronicling the rivalry between Kevin Owens and Commissioner Shane McMahon.

Bobby Roode beats Mike Kanellis. Before the match, it is announced that Mike and Maria Kanellis will be expecting their first child in April. After the match, Dolph Ziggler shows up and congratulates Roode on his victory. Ziggler then says he is working on an entrance for Sunday. He then goes to the back and comes back banging on a marching band drum. Ziggler then tosses glitter around, spins some noisemakers and honks a loud airhorn. Ziggler gets in the ring and sarcastically asks the crowd if they like him now, then says that Roode has managed to weasel his way through the backdoor and make it in the WWE before saying he will have quite the entrance on Sunday. He says that he will expose Bobby Roode for what he is: nothing more than an entrance, and says that is all he will ever be. After Ziggler says an entrance is all Roode will be, Roode stops him and says his entrance was horrible and that he is doing it all wrong. He then reprises his entrance in the ring.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) show up. This Sunday, they say their Hell In A Cell tag team match with The New Day will be strictly 2-on-2 - with one person on the opposing team eating Booty-O's on the outside - as they welcome them to the Uso Penitentiary, which they say will be a living hell. They do not want to drag The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) into the cell; they want to drag the entire blue brand tag team division in there. From there, they want to close the door and keep the division on lock. They plan on being five-time tag team champs on Sunday. Suddenly, The New Day show up. Normally, they would peddle their products - including their new undies - but they're not in the mood. They argue that if The Usos want to read them their rights, they should talk about some lefts. They admit that they and The Usos have had some classic bouts, and that they have left the crowd in awe every time. The last time they met, however, they won the SmackDown tag titles, and this time, they'll be left in a pile of their day one-ish as they continue to be tag team champions.

Jinder Mahal speaks to his people in Punjabi, and boasts about what happened to "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura earlier tonight. He says that Nakamura underestimated his intelligence just like the rest of the fans, and it took just a distraction to throw him off his game. ...to throw him off his game. He calls this a taste of what is to happen on Sunday, and says Nakamura will be left in a pile of regret.

It is announced that Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin will face The Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley) at the Hell In A Cell kick-off. Also, The Fashion Files will return at Hell In A Cell instead of tonight as originally scheduled.

"The Perfect Ten" Tye Dillinger beats Baron Corbin with a surprise roll-up. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles is seen watching from backstage. After the match, AJ Styles can be seen on the TitanTron. Rusev says that last week, it was supposed to be a happy Rusev day, but Orton ruined it.He says nothing makes him happier than seeing Corbin squander an opportunity. He says that Corbin is built like a thoroughbred but has the attitude of a jackass, and says nothing is handed out on SmackDown. Styles goes on to say that if he tried harder, he'd be a little more successful than he is right now. Instead, he throws tempter tantrums. He says those tantrums are in his way, and Sunday, Corbin will find out they won't work against him and that his opportunities will get cut short.

Dana Warrior is in the ring. She repeats her speech from Raw as she honors three more breast cancer survivors in the ring tonight. She announces that WWE and Susan G. Komen have tag teamed for another year, and that these survivors - Lauren Schwartz, Michelle Segura and Rochelle McKenzie - have exemplified strength and boldness. Their warrior spirit is honored with pink Women's Championships.

Tonight on 205 Live: Kalisto debuts!

Aiden English and Rusev are already in the ring. Rusev says that last week, it was supposed to be a happy Rusev day, but Orton ruined it. He says that is okay, for there will be many more to come, especially after Sunday when he beats Randy Orton. Shortly after this, Orton shows up.

Randy Orton quickly eats Aiden English. After the match, Orton catches Rusev long before he can sneak into the ring, and scares him away.

Backstage, Commissioner Shane McMahon is met by Sami Zayn backstage. He tries to warn Shane of what Kevin Owens is truly capable of. Shane says he won't be locked in the cell with Owens; Owens says he will be locked in the cell with him. Shane appreciates Sami's advice, but asks Sami to take care of Sami and let him take care of himself.

Commissioner Shane McMahon heads to the ring.Shane immediately calls Kevin Owens out to the ring. Owens does not show up immediately, however. Shane says Owens talks a big game, but when his back is against the wall, he is a coward. He says Owens is a coward for disparaging his children, beating up his father, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, hiding behind Sami Zayn as a human shield to get away from him. But this Sunday, there is no running and hiding and he will change Owens' life. He makes their match a falls-count-anywhere match, and says he will beat humility into him on Sunday. Suddenly, Owens shows up from inside the crowd and mocks Shane. Shane tells him to get in the ring. Owens says that if Shane wants him in the ring, he aims to please...then walks away and says he will see him Sunday. Shane calls Owens a coward again. Owens stops, looks back at Shane, then continues to walk away. Shane then says that if Owens won't bring the fight to him, he'll bring the fight to Owens, and chases him through the crowd. Shane is suddenly attacked from behind by Owens near the concession stands, and this starts a brawl in the concourse. The brawl heads toward the merchandise table followed by more concessions stands. Owens then powerbombs Shane through the merchandise table. After the brawl is over, Owens then heads back out through the crowd and starts walking towards the ring. Owens says that if anyone thinks Shane is having a rough night right now, they have no idea what Sunday will be like. If Shane wants to make their match falls-count-anywhere, he has no problem with that. He will beat him anywhere he wants after he tortures him in and out of the ring and beats him until he forgets his kids' names. He also tells Shane not to worry about leaping off the top of the cell, as he will throw him off the top himself. Shane then shows up again and heads towards the ring. Owens tells Shane to stop right now or else he won't make it to Sunday. Shane refuses, and Owens dares him to get in the ring to prove how much of a tough guy he is. Owens then jumps the barricade and attacks Shane again, but Shane tosses Owens back over the barricade and fights back. Both men then exchange blows at ringside. Shane gets back in the ring as referees try in vain to tell Owens to stop. Shane fights back, but Owens hits him with a superkick. Owens leaves Shane lying in the center of the ring, but then decides to get back in the ring. Shane tries to fight back, but Owens headbutts him just like he did Vince. Referees continue to tell Owens to stop, but Owens hits Shane with the pop-up powerbomb.
