Raw Deal - Raw recap for February 1, 1999

RAW

In footage from earlier tonight, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon tells Test, The Big Boss Man and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock that WWF co-owner Vince McMahon is on "special assignment" to provoke and confront "Stone Cold" Steve Austin down in Victoria, Texas and get the contract from him. In the meantime, Shane is running Raw. The Rock is doing a special appearance and will be here soon, but it become apparent that Kane is traveling on his own, much to the displeasure of Shane, due to nobody wanting to travel with him. Shane knocks on a door and tells Chyna to come along with them, and P.M.S. (Terri Runnels and Jacqueline) run into The Big Boss Man, who says "You say 'excuse me,' bitch."

WWF co-owner Shane McMahon shows up with Test, The Big Boss Man and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock. Shane thanks his men for accompanying him to the ring, but he is not X-Pac and he doesn't need to hide behind anybody. The three of them shake hands with Shane and leave the ring. Shane then announces that WWF co-owner Vince McMahon is on "special assignment" in Victoria, Texas to confront and provoke "Stone Cold" Steve Austin into breaking his contract, and if that happens, Austin is fired from the WWF on the spot. If Austin does show some restraint, then he does not envy him, as Vince will beat Austin from one side of the cage to the other at St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Shane then asks for the steel cage to come down as he says that Vince will not climb out of the steel cage and beat Steve Austin's ass. Suddenly, it is noticed that X-Pac is on the top of the cage. Meanwhile, the rest of D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) is being attacked by Test, Shamrock and Boss Man. Shane then says that if X-Pac comes near him, he will break him in half. Suddenly, X-Pac drops down from the cage, and Shane is all too eager to fight him. Chyna shows up, opens the cage door and trips X-Pac, who then hits a spinning roundhouse kick on Shane only to be hit with a low blow by Chyna. Chyna then holds X-Pac back and Shane gets a few shots in on X-Pac before tossing him into a steel cage wall. After stomping X-Pac a few times, Chyna comforts Shane before helping out of the steel cage and leaving with him.

The WWF's Super Bowl commercial is re-aired.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon is seen in a bar in Victoria, Texas with Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson, who are dressed like cowboys. Vince admits they look ridiculous, but Patterson says they are in Texas. Vince tells them to follow his example, as he knows how to deal with "these kinds of people." The threesome then head to the bar, and ask the bartender is she has seen "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. She's says "I reckon not." Vince does not take too kindly to use the use of the word "reckon," and the bartender pulls out a baseball bat and tells Vince, Brisco and Patterson to get out. One of the customers also wants them out. They leave.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock guests on commentary before the next match. Val Venis says "The Big Valbowski" is a lot like a custom Harley: elegance in the eyes, powerful between the legs and ready to be rode all night long.

Val Venis beats "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn by disqualification after Jerry "The King" Lawler angers Shamrock to the point that he lays a hand on one of the two men in the ring. Billy Gunn grabs the steel chair and goes after Shamrock with it after Shamrock drops it, but Val Venis believes that Gunn hit him with a chair again when he wakes up and attacks him.

It is revealed that Mankind used some of The Rock's $100,000 reward money to rent Max Mini for $487.

The Rock is in the locker room, irritated by the fact that Mankind is spending his money. Vince, calling from a bat in Victoria, Texas, says he'll take care of it. The Rock decids to take matters in his own hands.

Kevin Kelly interviews Debra. She agrees that she is responsible for Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett's meteoric rise to the top of the tag division, and says that nobody stands a chance against their ability combined with her irresistibility, and that her body means business as well as pleasure. Suddenly, "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry shows up, hands Debra a rose, and says pleasure is his middle name and that is all he wants to give her as he wants to hook up. Debra asks Henry if he has what it takes to make her hot, but Henry says he's the chocolate that melts in your mouth, not in your hands. He is then attacked from behind by Owen and Jarrett until referees and officials restore order.

Mankind gives Kurrgan stock market advice...and gives him some money to help him get started.

St. Valentine's Day Massacre is coming live to pay-per-view on February 14th!

Before the next match, Terri Runnels tells D'Lo Brown that they need to teach another pig a lesson and to not mess with P.M.S. (Runnels and Jacqueline). D'Lo Brown wants to know when enough is enough, and Jacqueline says they're not done with him yet by a long shot. Terri says D'Lo has more "proving" to do for her, then calls out The Big Boss Man for calling her a bitch, and tells Boss Man to get in the ring so D'Lo Brown can make him his bitch.

The Big Boss Man beats D'Lo Brown. During the match, D'Lo Brown has Boss Man beat with the top rope splash, but P.M.S. (Terri Runnels and Jacqueline) get on the apron and distract the referee. D'Lo Brown confronts them from this, then runs into a sidewalk slam from Boss Man as soon as he turns around. After the match, P.M.S. high-five each other, then Boss Man attacks D'Lo with his nightstick until "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry shows up and chases Mark Henry out of the ring.

Meanwhile, in another bar in Victoria, Texas, Pat Patterson tries to make a move on a woman playing pool only to be kneed in the gut. WWF co-owner Vince McMahon shows up and tells Patterson and Gerald Brisco that he has found "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

The Blue Meanie is dancing on the stage to test out a corporate executive's idea of a male dance troupe on TV by being a "Raw Boy" (a parody of WCW's Nitro Girls) when Goldust beats him up and hits him with Shattered Dreams for stealing Head from him.

In the trainer's room, "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry is telling D'Lo Brown to get away from P.M.S. (Terri Runnels and Jacqueline), as D'Lo Brown is having his neck checked out by the same doctor who checked on Terri Runnels when she miscarried her baby. The doctor lets slip that Terri Runnels was never pregnant to begin with, confirming to both Henry and D'Lo that D'Lo has been played for a sucker the whole time by P.M.S.

Before the next match, it is announced that "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock will guest star on That 70's Show this Sunday night on Fox. Also, Droz tells Golga and Giant Silva to leave the ring as he beat George "The Animal" Steele and that Kurrgan is next.

Droz beats Kurrgan with a broom handle from underneath the ring. During the match, it is announced that Royal Rumble has set pay-per-view records, but it is not explained exactly what records are broken. After the match, Droz continues to attack Kurrgan, and Golga and Giant Silva rush in to make the save.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon, Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson are seen eating barbecue brisket and baked beans in a cafe where "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is notorious for having an evening snack at. Vince tastes the brisket, and does not like it. When Brisco and Patterson complain about the brisket, with Patterson saying he has had dog food better than this, the server says "You have, have you?" before smacking Patterson in the head with food.

WAR ZONE

The Ministry of Darkness (The Undertaker, Paul Bearer, Mideon and Mabel - now known as Viscera) shows up, and The Undertaker sits on his throne. The Undertaker then sends Mideon and Viscera to the ring before the next match.

The Brood (Gangrel, Edge and Christian) beat The Ministry of Darkness (The Undertaker, Mideon, Viscera) by disqualification after The Acolytes show up and attack The Brood. (The Undertaker is part of the match, but he continues to sit at his throne the entire time.) The Undertaker heads to the ring as both sides brawl, and referees and officials try to restore order only to be tossed out by The Brood. Bradshaw plays a bullrope around Gangrel's neck like a noose, and The Undertaker enters the ring to put his hand on top of Gangrel's head before pushing him off the rope and allowing Bradshaw to hang him.

Mankind tells Debra he has bought a sweater "for her boobs." Not surprisingly, it looks tacky.

Mankind shows up. He admits that after Halftime Heat, he does not feel all that good and probably did not look all that good, but when he looked in the mirror, he looked like the WWF Champion. The Rock shows up soon after this, and tells Mankind that when he beat him in the "I Quit" match at Royal Rumble, he screamed "I Quit" not once, not twice but three times. After Halftime Heat, Mankind beat him again, but if it were not for a forklift, he would have never won. Although he stands on the stage custom-made from head to toe while making millions of dollars, he is as articulate as he is good-looking. He says that Mankind has realized all of this as well as the most electrifying man in sports entertainment today. He then says that Mankind has $97,000 of his money, and demands it back. Mankind says it's now down to $72,000, and says he changed his mind about returning the money after he accepted the Empty Arena Match. He agrees with The Rock that he dresses like a million bucks and makes millions of dollars, but he also says The Rock is "the biggest horse's ass in sports entertainment today." He will admit that The Rock has given him some of the best matches he has ever had, and if The Rock wants a rematch, all he has to do is ask. The Rock then issues a challenge for St. Valentine's Day Massacre: a Last Man Standing Match. He then tells Mankind that if he was rough on him before, he will proceed to bash his brains in like he has never felt before. If Mankind has enough fortitude, he will accept the match. Mankind tells him without hesitation that he has a deal. The Rock then tells him that when all is said and done, he will be WWF Champion once again.

The WWF Super Bowl commercial is replayed again, but this time everyone says the opposite of what they said in the original commercial.

In Victoria, Texas, WWF co-owner Vince McMahon, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco are at a gun store, and they have "Stone Cold" Steve Austin right where they want him as he is right behind a door.

Back at the gun store in Victoria, Texas, WWF co-owner Vince McMahon sees to it that Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco know what their plan is, and put it into action. Vince opens the door, and finds Austin...or so he thinks, as the guy in the room is not him and asks Vince if he is looking for Austin or a bullet before telling him he is at Arkey Blue's next door.

The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) beat "Road Dogg" Jesse James and Al Snow in a hardcore tag team match that goes all over the arena and sees a fan get punched in the face by Bradshaw for tossing her at his face and Viscera slamming Al Snow into some debris outside before Road Dogg is put through a table. After the match, Viscera, Mideon and three druids show up, and the druids attack Road Dogg. The arena then goes dark, and The Undertaker and Paul Bearer show up. It is then revealed that the three Druids are The Brood (Gangrel, Edge, Christian).

During the break, The Brood (Gangrel, Edge, Christian) leave with The Ministry of Darkness, and an angry "Road Dogg" Jesse James is seen getting up and heading to the back with a steel chair. Road Dogg finds Al Snow, and both men were wondering where the other man is, and Road Dogg thinks Al Snow is hanging him out to dry. Both men tell each other to kiss his ass, then Road Dogg hits Al Snow from behind with a steel chair.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon confronts "Stone Cold" Steve Austin at Arkey Blue's in Victoria, Texas, and dares Austin to hit him. Austin firmly tells him he is waiting until St. Valentine's Day Massacre to lay a hand on him. He then asks the people of Arkey Blue's to show Vince, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco a real good time at his expense.

"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley beats Kane in a Steel Cage Match after X-Pac keeps Kane from getting out of the cage, allowing Triple H to climb out. As he tries to, Chyna tries to stop Triple H by yanking him off the cage wall, but Triple H kicks her away. After the match, Chyna tells an angry Kane to stop and let X-Pac and Triple H have their moment. She then Triple H that it will be short and painful between them, and that it will end in two weeks at St. Valentine's Day Massacre.
