Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for February 22, 1999

We see the preparation of the interview room where Tony Schiavone will moderate a face-to-face meeting between "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and David Flair - the first since last night.

We see the Nitro party at University of California-Berkeley in Berkeley, California, where MTV VJ Riki Rachtman is the emcee. He announces WCW Monday Nitro Spring Breakout 1999, and also introduces us to the The Nitro Girls.

We see footage of The Nitro Girls at the University of California-Berkeley in Berkeley, California.

We see a preview of another music video from Konnan.

We see a performance by some of The Nitro Girls.

Jerry Flynn beats Mike Enos with a Cross Arm Breaker.

The woman from last night congratulates David Flair on joining the nWo last night, and David says he had to do it and that it is his chance to shine. The woman tells him he knows what he has to say and to tell him who is boss.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Booker T backstage. Booker says it was all good last night, and that Disco Inferno is the first - but not the last - recipient of the Harlem Hangover as it will be "on like neckbones" in 1999. As for Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, he knows Bret has no love for him, and he is on the top of his game. Now that his knee is 100%, Bret should get ready to go all night long, as he will not quit until he #1 contender for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship.

Riki Rachtman is still at the Nitro Party at the University of California-Berkeley, and we see some of The Nitro Girls. We meet marco Rinaldi, who has won a huge prize from 1-800-COLLECT and will be at the yearly Spring Break-Out show in Panama City, Florida in a few weeks.

Vincent welcomes Scott Norton - who has just come back from a tour of Japan - back into the black-and-white nWo. He tells Norton that Hollywood Hogan made him "the man" and the leader of the black-and-white nWo while he was gone, and that he has it on recording. Norton tells Vincent he is the man as if to just get it over with.

Bam Bam Bigelow beats Van Hammer.

We see the WCW Nitro Bus on the way to Spring Break-Out '99. Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell help spot a young woman on a barbell, which earns them the address to her party. Bagwell and Steiner head over there later that night, but when they find out that the place is crawling with some unconventional people, they leave only to find out the Hummer is missing. They get a clue to where it is, and we then see Goldberg having a photoshoot when Scott Steiner shows up, tells the photographer to get some photos of a real man, and asks Goldberg if he saw what he did to Diamond Dallas Page before telling him he's next. Steiner leaves, and Goldberg says Scott has a big mouth and that one of these days, he will shove it right down his throat.

Booker T beats Bret "The Hit Man" Hart to become #1 contender for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship after reversing a Sunset Flip into a pinfall of his own. During the match, Disco Inferno is seen in the satellite truck, wanting the information on the satellite feed so that the nWo can pirate the signal later tonight.

Backstage, final preparations are made for the face-to-face meeting between WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and his son David Flair.

Before the next match, Kaz Hayashi is seen wearing Glacier's entrance garb - which he purchased from Glacier over the weekend on WCW Saturday Night - on his way to the ring. Disco Inferno then sings the American national anthem due to the match being "international competition." The microphone is cut off before he can finish, and Disco responds by hitting Hayashi with a cheap shot.

Disco Inferno beats Kaz Hayashi.

Brian Adams is seen talking to Scott Norton. Brian tells Scott that he was leading the black-and-white nWo while he was gone. Scott is skeptical about this, but does not make it known to Brian.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

We go back to the Nitro Party at Berkeley, California, where the Nitro Girls hold a limbo party.

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan is seen holding up his Reader's Award for Announcer of the Year from WCW/nWo Magazine.

Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell show up. Steiner helps a woman (who is one in a set of twins) into the ring. Scott says Diamond Dallas Page is not coming to the ring, because he put him in the hospital after giving him fair warning that he was not big enough, strong enough or smart enough. DDP had the honor of protecting his wife Kimberly, but now he has the honor of having Kimberly for 30 days and 30 nights. He then says after 30 days and nights of nirvana, she will be calling him "Big Bad Booty Daddy," and while DDP is in the hospital screaming in pain, Kimberly will be on top of him screaming his name. He then focuses on the nWo's goals, saying that he has hurt his brother Rick Steiner and DDP, and if Sting was here, he would hurt him, too. He says that the only person left to go through is Goldberg, and says he is next on his list. He tells Goldberg he's not hard to find, he's just hard, and he will put him in the hospital next to DDP tonight.

Before the next match, Chris Jericho tells Saturn he gave him a chance to redeem himself, but he walked away. He says that Saturn has to be "sick in the head" and demented, and tells him to get out of the dress as neither he, Ralphus or the Jerichoholics like it.

Hugh Morrus beats Chris Jericho. During the match, Ralphus grabs Hugh Morrus' leg as he goes for No Laughing Matter. As the referee is dealing with Ralphus, Saturn shows up as Jericho takes advantage. He rips Ralphus' dress off and tosses him into the ring, and as the ref is distracted with Ralphus, Saturn gets in the ring, hits Jimmy Hart as he is on the apron as he offers him a steel chair to blast Jericho with, and hits Jericho with the Death Valley Driver. Hugh Morrus hits No Laughing Matter and gets the win, and as Saturn leaves, Morrus and Hart confront Saturn for hitting the latter. After Morrus shoves Saturn twice as he tries to leave, Saturn gets in the ring and dares Morrus to get in there with him. Morrus gets in, and both men exchange punches until referees get in the ring to restore order.

We see backstage footage from SuperBrawl IX where Curt Hennig and barry Windham brag about becoming the new WCW World Tag Team Champions. Hennig calls Windham the best tag team partner he ever had as they brag about beating Dean Malenko and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, who then show up and whip the new tag champs with leather belts.

Before the next match, Kevin Nash - who is wearing Rey Mysterio Jr.'s mask from last night, and says he, Lex Luger and Miss Elizabeth watched footage from last night's match and noticed that Scott Hall showed up and "took a few shortcuts." He says that the nWo represents what is right in professional wrestling as well as for fair play. He knows that Rey went to the WCW Executive Committee and having a match with him tonight, but he declines and offers to hand him his mask back. Rey shows up maskless for the first time in his career, wearing a black and white camouflage hoodie and pants along with black boots, and tells him it's not about the mask anymore. He tells Nash he got what he wanted, and now he wants what he wants: a piece of Nash. Nash tells Rey that if he wants a beating, he will give him one.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats Kevin Nash after punching his way out of the Jackknife Power Bomb.

We see the world premiere of another music video from Konnan.

Horace Hogan tells Scott Norton and Disco Inferno that he was the leader of the black-and-white nWo while he was gone. Norton hides his skepticism, and shakes his hand.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Curt Hennig and Barry Windham. Curt Hennig says "I told you so," saying that he and Windham would take the tag team titles. He says that Dean Malenko and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit are good, but there is a difference between being good and being great, and he and Windham are great. Windham says that it is a tad early for a rematch against Benoit and Malenko, as The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Malenko) have things to take care of. Hennig says he and Windham will dictate when the tag team titles are on the line as their names will be on the belt for a long time, and that Benoit and Malenko are not worthy of a rematch.

Scott Norton talks to Hollywood Hogan backstage, telling him that Vincent, Brian Adams and Horace Hogan are all telling him that they are running the black-and-white nWo. Hogan says it is being taken care of and that he has talked to Kevin Nash. He says that the black-and-white nWo needs a leader, and tells Norton that he is the man after the others have dropped the ball. Norton thanks Hogan for the opportunity.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Before the next match, Ernest "The Cat" Miller comes out to Glacier's entrance set-up, having bought it all from Glacier last over the weekend on WCW Saturday Night. Miller demands his "James Brown music," and does not want to come out to "redneck music." He also demands that the lights be turned back on. He then issues another open challenge, and this time he has someone in mind, Scott Norton, whom he says he whupped two weeks ago. Backstage in the black-and-white nWo locker room, Scott Norton shows up, and Disco Inferno tells Norton that The Cat called him out again. Norton sees him and Onoo start talking about him on the monitor as he is about to tell the rest of the black-and-white nWo that he is the leader, and heads to the ring.

Scott Norton beats Ernest "The Cat" Miller.

Before the next match, Buff Bagwell tells ring announcer Michael Buffer there is room for only one "Buff" in the world, and says that Goldberg is not here. Scott Steiner then issues an open challenge any piece of "white trash" in the building, since he can't beat up Goldberg tonight. Goldberg's music eventually starts playing, and Goldberg shows up.

Goldberg beats Scott Steiner by disqualification. During the match, Buff Bagwell is caught by referee Johnny Boone cutting the cover off a top turnbuckle, and rams Boone's head into it. He removes the cover as Steiner is whipped into the corner, accidentally stunning him. After this, Buff is the recipient of a Spear. As Scott and Buff retreat, Rick Steiner - who has not been seen in some time - shows up and attacks both of them, and joins Goldberg in the ring. The black-and-white nWo show up. Vincent decides to be the leader and sic them on Goldberg, but Vincent is tossed into the ring by the black-and-white nWo and is quickly demolished. The black-and-white nWo retreat.

We see the Nitro Girls Swimsuit Exposé.

Disco Inferno is in the satellite truck. The guy in the truck cannot bring himself to let the nWo pirate the signal, and wants Disco to be the one to press the button.

Tony Schiavone moderates the face-to-face meeting between WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and David Flair - the first meeting between the two since SuperBrawl IX. Ric Flair's limousine is seen entering the arena when the satellite feed suddenly cuts out. Kevin Nash and Hollywood Hogan are watching from the back as a black-and-white nWo vignette is played featuring David Flair and his girlfriend. Disco Inferno, disguised as "Mean" Gene Okerlund, interviews David Flair, who says he is "the new-and-improved Space Mountain." Nash shows up, disguised as "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, bringing a cooler with him as he makes references to the nWo's Four Horsemen parody from 1997 involving the word "spot" before opening a beer with a penknife and falling down. Vincent is seen dressed up as a "Chicago Bear" (a reference to Steve "Mongo" McMichael) while Scott Hall shows up dressed like "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, making fun of "Anderson" and David Flair. Hollywood Hogan shows up dressed like "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, saying that if Hogan didn't have so much money, control pro wrestling and wasn't the greatest wrestler on the planet, he wouldn't have gotten his brains beat in last night. Hogan proceeds to tear his clothes off much like Flair does and sneezes in his shirt, the vignettes de-evolves into total chaos until Hogan fakes a heart attack. We then find out the woman's name is Torrie Wilson from Disco Inferno, who then plugs the WCW Hotline. The feed fades to static, and the show ends.
