Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 11, 1998

RAW

WWF owner Vince McMahon shows up to start the show. He says that when "Stone Cold" Steve Austin comes through that locker room door, he will have to take part in tag team action tonight. He then takes the opportunity to introduce someone who has proven he is willing to make sacrifices to the extent that he has become #1 contender to the WWF Championship: Dude Love. Instead of the usual tie-dye, he is wearing a suit, carrying a copy of The Wall Street Journal, has a shaved beard and has artificial front teeth in his mouth. Dude says that last week, he was confused as to what his true identity was, but knows who he is now: a well-educated man, a speaker of four different languages, a reader of Greek tragedy, a student of American history, a lover of women, a leader of man, a surprisingly good dancer for a big man, the king of hardcore wrestling, and - as Austin will find out at Over The Edge - the world's toughest S.O.B. He is the future WWF Champion, and he is Dude Love. Dude Love and Vince shake hands, and Dude Love says that for quite some time, Dude Love had lost his smile and is happy to report that with the support of Vince McMahon and the WWF, he has found that smile and it certainly feels good. He says that this time, a handshake won't do it, and he and Vince both hug. Vince says he is proud of Dude Love, and has a surprise for him: the special guest timekeeper for his and Austin's match at Over The Edge will be none other than Gerald Brisco. Brisco shows up and shakes hands with both Dude Love and Vince, and Vince says he has another surprise: Pat Patterson is special guest ring announcer for the match will be Pat Patterson, who also shows up and shakes hands with everyone in the ring. Vince then gives us one more surprise: a special guest referee in the form of...someone who doesn't show up. Vince McMahon heads to the back to see what's going on, as does Gerald Briscoe. Pat Patterson then introduces the special guest referee, and after teasing it will be Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, he announces it will be Vince McMahon, who comes back in black slacks and a sleeveless referee's shirt. Vince then mocks Austin's ring entrance before all four men raise their arms in triumph.

Kevin Kelly is backstage as Sable shows up. Sable has no time to talk as enters in preparation of her public confrontation with "Marvelous" Marc Mero.

We see footage of D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) on their way to the CNN Tower in Atlanta, Georgia, where they where they make their way to World Championship Wrestling. They have no way of getting in, however, after being stopped by security, but they still have their fans in the area.

Kevin Kelly opens a garage door backstage when it is banged on. Instead of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, it's Al Snow from Extreme Championship Wrestling, who has Head with him as well as tickets to the show. He admits that he is a little lost, and Kevin Kelly gives him directions to his seats. Kevin Kelly is bemused by the fact that Al Snow is talking to a mannequin head.

Vader, back in action from injury after three months. beats Barry Windham. During the match, it is announced that Vader will face Kane at Over The Edge, and the loser will be forced to unmask. After the match, The New Midnight Express ("Bombastic" Bob Holly and "Bodacious" Bart Gunn) fail to take out Vader, and Vader leaves the ring as soon as it becomes apparent that it will be a 3-on-1 brawl. It is also announced that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will debut on MTV Celebrity Deathmatch this Thursday on MTV.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin has arrived.

During the commercial break, Kevin Kelly interviews "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Austin says Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson and WWF owner Vince McMahon don't qualify to be "The Three Stooges" and that they're so pathetic that they're "The Three Jackasses." He says that whatever Vince does, he won't take the WWF Championship from him. As for tonight, he's not a tag team wrestler, and upon being told that nothing about the match has been revealed, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin takes the microphone and heads further into the building.

Skull beats Road Warrior Hawk with a roll-up. Actually, 8-Ball does after he and Skull pull the old switcheroo on Hawk.

We see more footage of D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) at the CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

We see another vignette of Edge, in which he mostly walks around.

We see footage from earlier today of Bradshaw teaching Taka Michinoku how to drive in America while the two of them smoke cigars. When they make it back, they are suddenly jumped by Club Kamikaze, who is accompanied by an older man in a business suit.

Faarooq beats "Double J" Jeff Jarrett after Kama Mustafa and "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry attack Faarooq and "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman." Jarrrett takes advantage of the situation by striking Blackman in the back with his own nunchaku before choking him with them.

Tony Siragusa of the Batlimore Ravens is seen in the crowd.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up. He says that WWF owner Vince McMahon may have stacked the deck against him at Over The Edge, but he doesn't care as it doesn't bother him one bit. He knows Vince can't stand him, and he feels the same way about Vince. He says that if Vince won't tell him anything about the tag team match he is part of tonight, then the least he can do is show up and give him some information if he is any kind of man. Vince shows up on the TitanTron with Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco, saying they're having a board meeting. As for Over The Edge, he says his title reign is going "over the edge." As for the tag team match, Patterson and Brisco say they know nothing, before imitating the "Speak No Evil, See No Evil, Hear No Evil" monkeys. Austin tells the threesome they can cover up their eyes, ears and mouths but they can't cover up their asses, and when it's all said and done, it where he'll stick the WWF Championship.

We see a splicing of Val Venis vignettes before the end of Raw.

WAR ZONE

Sable gets in the ring and calls out "Marvelous" Marc Mero. When Mero shows up, Sable says she never thought he'd take it this far, but if has to come to this, she'll give him her best. Mero tells Sable not to weasel out of this match as it's a little too late, then immediately attempts a TKO only to put her down and says he could have finished her off quickly, only to let her go because he's a gentleman. He gives Sable a chance to apologize for ruining his WWF career, but Sable kicks him in the groin before putting him in the Sable Bomb.

The Undertaker suddenly shows up, throws the chair that Jerry "The King" Lawler was sitting in, and punches Lawler in the face for his locker room remarks in his inadvertently-recorded conversation with Paul Bearer from last week. Lawler gets choke slammed, but Kane and Paul Bearer make their presence known before 'Taker can put Lawler in the Tombstone Piledriver. Bearer tells The Undertaker that either the truth hurts him badly instead or he doesn't believe him at all, but then reminds him that he told him Kane was alive and that he didn't believe it, either. Next week, he will prove once and for all that he is Kane's father. After Kane and Paul Bearer leave, The Undertaker stops Lawler from leaving and continues where he left off, hitting him with the Tombstone Piledriver.

Al Snow shows up, this time at ringside, and he and Head almost guest on commentary only to be escorted out by security and Pat Patterson. Snow insists he needs to see WWF owner Vince McMahon, then runs into the ring and into the crowd.

D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) is still at the CNN Center. He says the Atlanta, Georgia version of "Operation DX" is complete, then we see a computer-generated rocket "hit" the CNN Center and create a computer-generated explosion.

D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) show up. X-Pac says they have gotten back from Atlanta, Georgia where World Championship Wrestling nearly had them arrested, and tells Eric Bischoff that he doesn't know what he's smoking and that he never asked him for anything, much less an apology, except for him to be a man. As for kissing ass, he never kissed Vince McMahon's ass and he never kissed Bischoff's, and tells Bischoff to "suck on it." The New Age Outlaws (James, Gunn) introduce themselves, then Gunn tells the Baltimore, Maryland crowd that they're either with them or their ass better call somebody. Triple H then tells the Baltimore, Maryland crowd that DX loves them and that he has a surprise for their state bird. Before he can show that surprise, Owen Hart shows up and says he's heard enough before telling Triple H they have unfinished business. Triple H says if they have unfinished business, he's right here waiting, and Owen tells him he's coming down to the ring to kick his ass before bringing out the rest of The Nation of Domination ("The Rock" Rocky Maivia, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry).

Jim Cornette guests on commentary for the next match.

Triple H vs. Owen Hart ends with a nasty confrontation between the rest of D-Generation X (Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) and the rest of The Nation of Domination ("The Rock" Rocky Maivia, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry) after Owen Hart bites Triple H's ear and Chyna crotches Owen Hart on the top rope.

It is announced that there will be a Six-Man Tag Match between D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) and The Nation of Domination ("The Rock" Rocky Maivia, Owen Hart, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry) at Over The Edge.

The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust shows up as Dustin Runnels, carrying his Goldust outfit, wig and a steel can wit a gas can in it. He takes the suit and wig, places them in the can, pours gas on it, then lights a entire box of matches and throws it in the steel can, setting them ablaze. Runnels tells WWF owner Vince McMahon he has worked "too damn hard" for him for three years, and that the Rhodes name goes way back and has a lot of pride, history and dignity in it. He does not have that dignity because of Vince taking it away from him due to his imagination. He blames Vince for losing his father "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes and causing him so much heartache his wife Terri and daughter Dakota over the Goldust persona. He says Vince punished him for not beating "Stone Cold" Steve Austin for the WWE Championship by putting him in the ring with Kane, and says he will be punished no more. He then says that Goldust dies tonight, and tells him that he will never forget the name of Dustin.

We finally learn the identities of "Club Kamikaze:" Yamaguchi-san is the older gentleman in the business suit, while the three members are Dick Togo, Men's Taioh and Sho Funaki. (Men's Teioh is better known as Terry Boy from his appearance at ECW's Barely Legal pay-per-view.) Together, they are known as Kaientai. Yamaguchi-san calls the crowd "scumbag Americans," and introduces "the new generation with the new Japanese attitude." He then introduces Kaientai, and says we will never know where or when they will strike. Kaientai then attack Terry Funk and 2 Cold Scorpio from behind.

Kaientai (Dick Togo, Men's Taioh, Sho Funaki) beat Terry Funk and 2 Cold Scorpio by disqualification after Taka Michinoku and Bradshaw clear the ring out, causing Kaientai to flee through the crowd.

WWF owner Vince McMahon is seen talking to somebody backstage, and this person is implied to be "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's tag team partner

Al Snow tries unsuccessfully to enter the building again.

The Nation of Domination ("The Rock" Rocky Maivia, Owen Hart, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry) show up. The Rock says the fire between himself and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin finally reignites, and tells Austin that unless his partner is Godzilla, he's ready to lay the smack down on the WWF Championship. Before the commercial break, WWF owner Vince McMahon, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco pride themselves on what they believe to be a job well done.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin's tag team partner is revealed to be WWF owner Vince McMahon.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Vince McMahon vs. The Nation of Domination ("The Rock" Rocky Maivia) ends when Vince McMahon clotheslines Austin in response to being flipped off. Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco and Dude Love all attack Austin, and D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) get in the ring to brawl with The Nation of Domination (The Rock, Owen Hart, D'Lo, Kama Mustafa, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry) to end the show.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for February 9, 1998

Sunny, dressed like Marilyn Monroe, sings Happy Birthday for "Classy" Freddy Blassie as WWF celebrates his 80th birthday.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up with a white bag. He tells "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels not to rub a championship belt in his face on live television, and calls him out so he can a piece of his ass. D-Generation X (Shawn, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) show up on the TitanTron and mock Austin, and Shawn says he knows exactly how to pull his strings as he brags out how he punked him out. Shawn says he's the one who calls the shots in the WWF, not Austin, and that Austin will get a piece of him when he says so. Shawn then tells Austin that if he can give him one reason to come out, he'll do it and slap the taste out of his mouth. He tells Shawn he knows he won't come out to the ring for the hell of it, as he's whipped his ass. Austin tells him he has his WWF Championship. Shawn insists he has it, and when he looks in his bag, he finds a replica belt instead. Austin pulls the real deal out of his bag, and tells him he'll be in the building all night. If Shawn wants it back, he'll have to ask him for it nicely in the ring.

Sunny is guest ring announcer for the next match.

Jeff Jarrett and Barry Windham beat The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) by disqualification after Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw chases Jarrett and Windham all the way to the back after mowing down The Rock 'n Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson).

D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) seem to have a plan to get the WWF Championship back...

Henry O. Godwinn beats Quebecer Pierre after Quebecer Jacques grabs Henry's leg after Pierre is sent out of the ring and hits him in the head with a steel bucket. Phineas I. Godwinn chases Jacques around, and when Jacques gets into the ring, Phineas I. Godwinn hits Pierre in the head with his own bucket to allow Henry the win.

Chyna enlists the help of Los Boricuas (Savio Vega, Miguel Perez, Jose Castillo, Jesus Estrada Jr.), who are busy playing a dominoes game, to get the WWF Championship back from "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Unlike in promos involving "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, where she whispers into their ears from time to time, this is the first time she is heard talking, and also in fluent Spanish.

"Too Sexy" Brian Christopher and Pantera beat Taka Michinoku and Aguila after Brian Christopher hands off a brass knuckle to Panetra, who uses it to knock Taka out in a double-team manuever as the ref is preoccupied with Aguila.

Kane and Paul Bearer show up. It is announced that Kane and Bearer are on the cover of the newest issue of WWF Magazine, available on newsstands tomorrow. Paul Bearer says the WWF and The Undertaker's fans are still in shock over what Kane and Vader have done to each other over the last two weeks, and says he is tired of hearing it's Vader Time. On Sunday, it will be time for Vader to be snuffed out as Kane sets a Vader clock on fire. Bearer then tells The Undertaker's fans that there is no way The Undertaker will show up on Sunday as he is gone for eternity.

The intro to War Zone plays to signal the start of the second hour.

Before the next match, "The Rock" Rocky Maivia gives his opinion on genetic human cloning, saying it should be done very selectively as not one person in the crowd is worthy of being cloned and that the only person worthy enough for it is himself.

The Nation of Domination (Faarooq and "The Rock" Rocky Maivia) beats Chainz and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock after The Rock hits Shamrock in the head with a chair as Skull, 8-Ball and Ahmed Johnson fight D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa and "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry. Shamrock then snaps and hits both the referee and Chainz with belly-to-belly suplexes, and Skull, 8-Ball and Ahmed have to restrain Shamrock, who eventually calms down.

Last Thursday at the Official All-Star Cafe in New York City, the press conference for WretleMania 14. It is announced that "Iron" Mike Tyson will be the special guest enforcer in the outside of the ring for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. "The Heartbreak Kid" SHawn Michaels at WrestleMania 14. During the conference, Austin admits he has respect for Shawn and that he is taking this match more seriously any other match he's had in his life, but says that Shawn is a big piece of trash. Shawn calls Austin the "the Lattrell Sprewell of the World Wrestling Federation" while comparing Vince McMahon to P.J. Carlissimo, then says he does not lay down for anyone. "Iron" Mike Tyson talks about how he wanted to get involved with the WWF ever since seeing Bruno Sammartino and The Valiant Brothers ("Handsome" Jimmy Valiant, "Luscious" Johnny Valiant, "Gentleman" Jerry Valiant). Tyson says that he is not bigger than boxing and that he can survive without it. Shawn and Austin say that that they can take on Tyson in a wrestler vs. boxer match. When Shawn says he can make an ass out of Austin, this leads to a more physical confrontation between Shawn and Austin which leads to Tyson and Shane McMahon separating both men. We then see news footage of the event from several sources.

Los Boricuas (Savio Vega, Miguel Perez, Jose Castillo, Jesus Estrada Jr.) and Chyna search the men's locker room for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin but do not find him.

Right after Steve Blackman vs. Recon begins, The Jackyl makes a grand entrance from a podium on a platform lowered down from the roof of the arena. He says that the WWF has created a smear campaign against him from the very beginning, and that he is far from a deranged psychopath, fancying himself a philosopher, intellectual and poet. He says that the WWF is afraid of his intellectualism and revolution, and that he brings a message of peace to his "Jackylites." However, the WWF understands only the language of violence, and that he is forced to speak that language. According to him, however, He says he has turned Recon and Sniper from mere fans into pay-per-view headliners and Kurrgan the Interrogator from a corporate sideshow into a destroyer.

Steve Blackman beats Recon by submission and puts an end to The Jackyl's monologue. After the amtch, the Jackyl berates Recon, telling him to remember what it was like working for $40 a night in Memphis, Tennessee and what he said to The Jackyl forgives Recon, then slaps him. Recon almost strikes back, but Sniper stops him and The Jackyl is amused by the situation.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) show up in University of Kentucky Wildcats shirts and brag about what they did to Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie last week, and Billy says they should do it again. Billy Gunn looks behind the curtain near the edge of the stage, and he and Road Dog pull out a dumpster, calling it "a new Cactus Jack condominium." The video of them pushing the dumpster with Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie last week are replayed on the TitanTron while The New Age Outlaws make fun of it, then the Outlaws push the dumpster off the edge and into a table as part of a "re-enactment" after a few rows of the audience are moved away from the ramp. The Outlwas then head to the dumpster and find two blow-up dolls dressed like Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie inside. Road Dog says that if there is anything left of them, the remains will be swept under the rug at No Way Out Of Texas. We then see dumpster cam footage of the "re-enactment."

Los Boricuas (Savio Vega, Miguel Perez, Jose Castillo, Jesus Estrada Jr.) and Chyna continue to look for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, but Austin shows up and locks a door leading out to the arena behind them and separates them from Chyna. He then agitates Los Boricuas, who then find out they are trapped. Chyna tries to free Los Boricuas, but to no avail.

"Marvelous" Marc Mero sends Sable back to the back before the next match.

Thrasher beats The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust after Sable comes back, confronts Luna Vachon, slaps Goldust to allow Thrasher to get a schoolboy pin for the win and then slaps Luna. "Marvelous" Marc Mero goes after Sable, and referees have to separate him from Sable.

D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) show up. Shawn tells Austin that he won't wait until Sunday night to take back the WWF Championship, saying he waits on absolutely nobody. He tells Austin he will give him an ass-whupping and that he has something that belongs to him, and now he is here to take it back. He then says "please" after telling Austin to get out here, and Austin shows up. Austin uses the belt as a weapon and clears DC out of the ring, and he also keeps The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) at bay when they also show up. Suddenly, a chainsaw can be heard, and Chyna takes the WWF Championship as Austin is preoccupied with DX and the Outlaws. Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie come out of an opening in the corner of the ring that Charlie has cut open, and Owen Hart gets in the ring from the crowd. Austin, Owen, Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie fight off DX and the Outlaws and force them to retreat to end the show.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for January 19, 1998

In loving memory of Juanita McMahon, 1916-1998.

Paul Bearer comes out to The Undertaker's music. He responds to the "You suck!" chants by saying "Well, if I do, I must be good!" before saying that he had the fans in the palms of his hands. He says that he should have gotten a Golden Globe Award for his interview from two weeks ago, and laughs about Kane and The Undertaker saluting each other last week on Raw, saying that's when he had everyone fooled. He says that it was the first time in seven years that The Undertaker smiled, then brags about how he and Kane set The Undertaker - and his casket - on fire at Royal Rumble. Bearer says that his plans from the last six months have come to pass, and The Undertaker is gone, never to return. All of a sudden, The Undertaker's music hits and the lights go out. Druids bring out the casket from last night's match and slowly wheel it to the ring. The casket door opens...and Kane is inside. Kane climbs out, and Paul Bearer proclaims Kane to be the last surviving member of The Undertaker's family.

D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) say that last night, they proved Owen Hart is a loser who can't cut it and should pack his bags and head down south. He also says that Shawn proved once again that he is the showstopper when he beat The Undertaker again. Shawn says he tossed and turned last night, guilt-ridden at what happened to The Undertaker. He wants the fans to know that DX is not all bad, and says they will bring back The Undertaker tonight.

The Disciples of Apocalypse (Chainz, Skull, 8-Ball) vs. The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, Kama Mustafa, D'Lo Brown) ends in a double disqualification when all six men get in the ring and the match gets out of control. After the match, "The Rock" Rocky Maivia and "The World's Strongest Man" get in the ring to help out The Nation, then "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock and Ahmed Johnson run in to help out The Disciples of Apocalypse. The D.O.A., Ahmed Johnson and Ken Shamrock end up standing tall when the brawl is over.

A hearse has arrived at the arena...

Vic Venom advertises an offer for both WWF and Raw Magazine for $29.98 or a year of either magazine for $19.98.

"Marvelous" Marc Mero forces Sable to wear a boxer's jacket with "Property of 'Marveluos' Marc Mero" on the back. When Mero orders Sable to disrobe him, Tom Brandi moves Sable out of the way and attacks Mero from behind, starting the match.

"Marvelous" Marc Mero beats Tom Brandi after hitting Brandi with a low blow as Sable unintentionally distracts the referee from the apron prior to the TKO. During the match, someone delivers flowers to Sable from an unknown source. Mero sees this and demands to know who the flowers came drom before telling Sable to go to the back. Sable stays at ringside with the flowers. After the match

D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) find the hearse parked outside of the arena. They prepare to attack The Undertaker as soon as he comes out, but when Shawn and Triple H open the door, a bunch of young ladies are in the hearse instead.

A limousine arrives to the arena, and out comes Shane McMahon and "Iron" Mike Tyson.

The returning Quebecers (Jacques and Pierre) beat Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie by disqualification after Cactus Jack puts the referee in the Mandible Claw for telling him he's not the legal man in the match. After the match, The Quebecers and the team of Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie continue to go at it until Cactus Jack scares The Quebecers away with his barbed wire baseball bat.

D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) asks some of the mini wrestlers if they've seen The Undertaker.

"Iron" Mike Tyson is seen backstage with some WWF officials.

Jim Cornette guests on commentary for the next match, who says that he has made this a match for the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship to prove that NWA has more talent than WWF does and as part of his plan to put WWF back in the NWA fold once and for all.

Jeff Jarrett retains the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship against Blackjack Bradshaw after Jim Cornette distracts the referee. Blackjack Bradshaw fights off The Rock 'n Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson), but is inadvertently clotheslined by Blackjack Windham. After the match, Bradshaw fights Jarrett as well as The Rock 'n Roll Express, but is double-crossed by Windham, who joins Jarrett and The Rock 'n Roll Express in Jim Cornette's group of NWA wrestlers, effectively ending The New Blackjacks.

D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) are in the locker room. Shawn says that he can't find The Undertaker anywhere...then the locker room light go dim...

WWF celebrates the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

The intro to War Zone plays to signal the start of the second hour.

The Undertaker's music hits. All of a sudden, The Undertaker comes down from the roof of the arena on a harness. The Undertaker is then seen in the middle of the ring, then it is revealed to be "The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels all along. "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley shows up wearing a blue barbecue apron saying "S*ck the cook" and Chyna shows up with a barebecue grill. Triple H has a bag, containing chef's hats, metal tongs, a bag of marshmallows, a bag of hot dogs, and a giant sausage that Chyna pulls out when Triple H says he and Shawn have "jumbo weenies" before making fun of The Undertaker being set on fire last night. Triple H says he hopes Owen Hart enjoyed his royal stumble last night, before offering him his opportunity for revenge on a silver platter next week on Raw for the European Championship, and says it won't matter if he's injured as he can beat him any time he wants and end it for good. As for "all the California girls out there," there's no need to ride Space Mountain as it's old, broken down and bleached blonde. If they want to see the stars, call him, as he's got the rocket if they've got the ride. Shawn says he'd like to give The Undertaker another chance to become WWF Champion, but he's already beaten him three times and he's still WWF Champion. Shawn then focuses on "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, saying he's next on the list, He says he's been there and done that as far as the tag team and Intercontinental titles are concerned, and that there is one more mountain for Austin to climb, and he owns that mountain as he says so. Shawn tells Austin he has quite a winning streak going, then tells Austin that if he asks around, he'll find out he lays down for absolutely nobody.

Owen Hart, Taka Michinoku and The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) beats Los Boricuas (Savio Vega, Miguel Perez, Jesus Castillo, Jose Estrada Jr.) with a Sharpshooter to Jesus Castillo, Jr. During the match, it is announced that the encore for Royal Rumble is tomorrow night on pay-per-view at 8 PM Eastern, 7 PM Central. After the match, Owen Hart accepts "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley's challenge for the WWF European Championship next week.

"The Rock" Rocky Maivia beats Ahmed Johnson after "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry shows up and hits Ahmed in the back with a steel chair when the referee isn't looking. After the match, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" rushes in, and The Rock retreats.

"Iron" Mike Tyson meets D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) backstage.

Before the next match, The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) come out in overalls, with Billy Gunn carrying a stuffed pig. Road Dogg tells The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) they have no beef with them, and hopes they are happy with getting their way and getting their title shot. He wants a chance to talk this over, as they are still fans of southern justice, but The Godwinns are ready to fight them at this point.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) after Billy Gunn hits Phineas I. Godwinn with the stuffed pig behind the referee's back. After the match, Henry O. Godwinn looks in the stuffed pick and finds half a brick in it.

Vince McMahon shows up and introduces "Iron" Mike Tyson, who says it is a pleasure to be here after being a WWF fan for a long time. Before Vince can finish an announcement involving Tyson, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up, with referees and officials quickly following. Austin says he's sick and tired of seeing "Iron" Mike Tyson shaking everyone's hands to the point that he's throwing up in the back. He respects what Tyson has done in the boxing world, but when Tyson steps in the ring, he's messing with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Austin says he wants a piece of Tyson, and tells him he's looking into the eyes of the WWF's toughest son-of-a-bitch, saying he can beat him any day of the week and twice on Sundays. He then flips Tyson off, and Tyson shoves Austin back. This leads to a massive brouhaha in the back, and both men have to be held back from one another. Near the end of the show, Vince yells "You ruined it, damn it! You ruined it!" at Austin, who flips Vince off with both hands just as he is about to be carried off to the back.

At the end of the show, Vince McMahon is seen profusely apologizing to "Iron" Mike Tyson, who wants a piece of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for October 20, 1997

The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) show up to stand at "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock and Ahmed Johnson's corner before the next match.

The Nation of Domination (Rocky Maivia and Kama Mustafa) beat Ahmed Johnson and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock after Faarooq hits Shamrock with "Ravishing" Rick Rude's steel Halliburton briefcase. During the match, D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, "Ravishing" Rick Rude) are seen on the stage, with Triple H and Shawn sitting on lawn chairs while holding up signs with phrases such as "I'd rather be in Chyna?," "Who booked this crap?," "Uncle Tom 3:16," "Spank Me Vince," "Black is Beautiful," "Hey Vince Nice Shoulder Pads!," and "Buckwheat Rules." Rick Rude walks down the ramp and is seen talking to Faarooq. After the match, Ahmed goes after The Nation of Domination, and when The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) head back to the back, they are attacked with trash cans from behind by The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn). (It should be noted that as if in response to what Eric Bischoff said about not bringing the Assault On Devil's Island signs to WWF events at last week's Nitro, two official Assault On Devil's Island movie premiere signs are seen in the audience during this match.)

Michael Cole says The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, Rocky Maivia) isn't talking to anybody, and their locker room has been vandalized with graffiti by The Hart Foundation (Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart). The Nation shows up, and Faarooq immediately questions Vince McMahon's character, then Faarooq gets in the ring and says there is nothing but racism in the WWF thanks to the Foundation telling them and that "black people are the original natives of this country" before calling Bret Hart out. When Faarooq is left waiting for several seconds, it just makes his angrier. Bret's music finally hits, and the members of the Foundation show up one by one, and Faarooq and Bret have a match, which was scheduled for later tonight. D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, "Ravishing" Rick Rude) shows up again, and Shawn tries to stir the pot by calling Bret a racist and saying that the WWF needs a champion sees no color, creed or religion. When Bret sees Shawn, Bret leaves the ring, and this starts a ringside brawl between The Foundation and The Nation.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart beats Faarooq after "Stone Cold" Steve Austin pops out from the crowd during another ringside brawl between The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, Rocky Maivia) and The Hart Foundation (Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart) and hits Faarooq with a Stone Cold Stunner behind the referee's back before fleeing through the crowd. The Nation yells at Vince McMahon again on their way out.

Jeff Jarrett, fresh out of World Championship Wrestling, shows up out of nowhere. Last week, on Monday Nitro, he was declared everything but dead. Since he refused to accept Eric Bischoff's offer and re-sign with WCW, he did everything in his power to bury him and hid behind his computer and announced to the world that he pulled the offer off the table. He tells Eric that the only thing he pulled from him was opportunity, and since he wasn't one of "his boys," he put a lid on his potential and would only go as far as he wanted to, as there was no ladder of success for him to climb. Jarrett says he was one of the youngest, most talented wrestlers Bischoff had, but Bischoff let him drown in mediocrity because his stroke wasn't strong enough, as he was stuck with Steve "Mongo" McMichael and his now ex-wife Debra McMichael. He tells Vince McMahon not to snicker and smile and cherish this momment, because he left WWF two years ago for the same reason. He says Bischoff did this out of ignorance and inexperience, and asks what Vince's excuse was. As somebody throws a Scream mask at the commentary table (which Vince plays around with for a few seconds), he brings up the gold tooth, the country music star, and the vision of what Vince wanted "Double J" Jeff Jarrett to be. He tells Vince that his vision sucked, and Vince is like "Yeah, it may have," as he was booked with a clown, a drug addict and a black man who can't even speak English (references to Doink, Razor Ramon/Scott Hall and Ahmed Johnson, respectively). He says Vince tried to bury him and kill him off, but didn't get the job done, and since he didn't put his dad Jerry Jarrett out of business, he figured he would kill him off. Not only did he survive, but he walked out on Vince, and he finds it ironic they got back together to make a deal in which he gets paid more the second time around, as he knows Vince needs him to put people in seats and ratings on the board. Vince says he told him to come out here to shoot, and that is what he is doing, and he tells Vince to take With My Baby Tonight and shove it up his butt. From here on out, it's going to be his way, and if Vince tries to stop him, he'll pack his bags and walk out the door again. He then asks Vince if he can afford it, and says he couldn't, or he wouldn't have paid him all that money five days ago. He then focuses on the state of affairs in WWF. He says Bret "The Hit Man" Hart is only the best there was and nothing else, as he lives off name recognition and past accomplishments and that it all comes to an end tonight. He says "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels can only wrestle once a week and is proud of that, and asks how often Shawn can go when he acts juvenile and "gives hand signals to [his] boys in Atlanta." He says Shawn was the WWF Champion and the main attraction, but is broken down and reduced to hiding behind an infantile attitude. He says "Stone Cold" Steve Austin has lowered himself to shaving his head and showing up ten to fifteen times a week and saying "ass" to get a reaction, and that Austin will always be "The Ringmaster," and that his blasphemous merchandise and "Austin 3:16" offends him as he is ripping off the Bible to put money in his pockets. When he hooks up with Austin, it will be Austin's judgement day. He tells Vince he wanted - and got - the real Jeff Jarrett, and hopes the investment will be worth all his headaches.

We see some news clippings concerning the WWF coming to town in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in The Daily Oklahoman.

Marc Mero beats "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher, the latter being accompanied by Jerry "The King" Lawler before the match. During the match, Jerry "The King" Lawler ties to get Sable to wear an Austin 3:16 baseball cap when giving Vince McMahon an idea on how to get the baseball cap to sell, while also saying that WWF should be selling crowns much like his. When Marc Mero sees the cap on her head, he gets out of the ring and rips it off, all the while having a very irritated look on his head. Jerry "The King" Lawler gets up on the apron later, distracting Mero and the referee, but Mero is able to hit Christopher with a low blow after being raked in the eyes before hitting Christopher with the TKO for the win. Mero is seen being impatient with Sable on their way out.

The intro to the show is replayed to signify the start of War Zone.

Before the next match, Owen Hart says he put "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels on a stretcher the last time they locked up, and with both the Intercontinental and European titles on the line, Owen proposes setting their guys aside, saying that Shawn would face him without anyone outside of the ring if he had any guts. "Ravishing" Rick Rude shows up with "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna, and Rude tells all the "sleazy, slimy, Oklahoma idiots" to button their lips, open their eyes and pay attention before introducing Shawn. Shawn shows up and asks the rest of D-Generation X (Triple H, Chyna, Rude) to stay back.

The Champion vs. Champion Match between Owen Hart and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels ends in disaster when "Stone Cold" Steve Austin comes out of the crowd again and hits the referee with a Stunner. Bret "The Hit Man" Hart rushes in and goes after Shawn, who is promply saved by the rest of D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, "Ravishing" Rick Rude). The British Bulldog and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart aren't too far behind, and neither are WWF officials.

Jim Cornette has a "too hot for TV" rebuttal for fans concerning things said about him on the Internet on Option 4 of the WWF Superstar Line.

The Undertaker says that for 20 years, he has walked the face of the earth under a dark cloud, carrying the grief of a family lost. In one moment's time, the brother he had lost forever, or so it seemed, is standing before him, and as he looked into his eyes, he didn't see the love of a long-lost brother; instead, he saw the hatred of a man whose man has been poisoned. He says Paul Bearer can rest assured he is living in Hell, for when he looked into his eyes, he saw the demon. However Paul has poisoned his mind and told Kane about him, it doesn't matter, as he will never fight his own flesh and blood. He will never fight Kane.

Kane shows up with Paul Bearer before Dude Love can face The British Bulldog. Dude Love fights Kane, and manages to send him over the ring only for Kane to send him out of the ring. Dude Love then looks for a weapon underneath the ring, and finds a steel chair. He hits Kane in the head with the steel chair, but it has no effect and Kane choke slams Dude Love onto the entrance ramp not once, but twice.

Before the next match, Jesse James and Rockabilly re-introduce themselves as the "Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn respectively. They say their journey starts with The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) and ends with the tag team titles.

Last Thursday at Stamford, Connecticut, Taka Michinoku was seen with Vince McMahon and a signed long-term contract, revealing that Michinoku is officially signed to the WWF.

Taka Michinoku beats Yoshihiro Tajiri (misnamed "Tijari" on the broadcast) in a Light Heavyweight Division match. During the match, it is announced that the Light Heavyweight Tournament will start on November 3rd.

Jim Cornette says that Phil Mushnick's message board on TV Guide's website has been flooded with comments from outraged pro wrestling fans, and he reads excerpts from a few posts that criticize Mushnick's opinion on professional wrestling. It is announced Mushnick has written that he has "badly overrated the intellect and social graces of most pro wrestling fans as they believe what they want to believe, think what they want to think and have no regard for the truth. Not all but most pro wrestling fans provide what the pro wrestling industry covets: knuckleheads." Cornette finishes by saying that people with similar opinions not only founded the United States of America, but also put a man on the moon. He tells the pro wrestling fans that if they are tired of others giving them the sideways glance, looking down their nose at them, treating them like the guy who runs the Ferris wheel at the county fair just because you like wrestling or anything else, they should stand up and say they are mad as hell and that they won't take it anymore, and to voice their opinion as their opinion makes a difference. Cornette then goes on to say that Phil Mushnick isn't the only target, but he is a fine place to start.

The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) reveal that they were wearing black slacks and Oklahoma Sooners shirts with "Texas Longhorns" painted on them in orange earlier when they attacked The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) earlier in the show. As expected, Uncle Cletus is also no longer with them. They corner and intimidate referee Mike Chioda before the next match, which never starts due to The Disciples of Apocalypse (Crush, Skull, 8-Ball, Chainz) beating up The Godwinns. The Truth Commission (The Jackyl, Recon, Sniper, The Interrogator) rush in and attack the D.O.A.. Referees, officials and WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaugher all have to restore order.

Mankind, sitting in the boiler room, says if you think you've seen madness, you don't know the meaning of the word, as he is the master of madness, mayhem, malice and creulty. If The Undertaker has qualms about fighting Kane, then rest assured, Mankind has no such principles, as if it were even own his own grandma who dropped Dude Love on is head, the "old bag" would go down. He makes it clear to Kane that he'll fight him anywhere, anytime, anyhow, and Kane will be all his.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 22, 1997

WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter forces Faarooq, Kama Mustafa and D'Lo Brown of The Nation of Domination to leave ringside. It is announced that "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock is out of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament due to injury, and that Faarooq has been reinstated into the tournament and has taken Shamrock's slot. It is also noted that "Captain" Lou Albano is taking notes at ringside.

Ahmed Johnson - in his first match back since returning from injury - beats Rocky Maivia to continue to the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament. During the match, Ahmed Johnson accidentally cuts his right hand on the steel steps.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up through the crowd, and says Madison Square Garden can't have a Raw without him and that someone's going to get their ass kicked tonight.

Agent Sable takes on Howard Finkel in a secret Lazer Tag mission to advertise Lazer Tag.

Floyd Patterson, former professional boxer and Chairman of the New York Athletic Commission, is in the audience tonight.

The Undertaker is interviewed in the ring by Vince McMahon. It is announced that the winner between The Undertaker and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels will face the WWF Champion at Survivor Series. It is also announced that the bottom of the ring will be throughly searched so that nobody sneaks into the match. The Undertaker warns Bret "The Hit Man" Hart that the day will soon be upon him when the reaper comes calling, but before he has his judgement days, Shawn Michaels has his date with destiny. At the Hell In A Cell Match, there is only one way out and it is over his dead body, and The Undertaker tells Shawn that he can never rest in peace, but he sure can enjoy watching Shawn's rotting corpse burn in eternal damnation. Suddenly, Shawn shows up and asks if it's either his imagination or if the WWF is giving him the shaft via the SummerSlam aftermath, the Hell In A Cell Match and now the fact that he has to earn a WWF Championship. He tells The Undertaker he does not lay down for anybody (unless they're a hot mama), and that he's looking for a Garden party and he's in the house. He tells The Undertaker he plans to be step ahead of everyone at the Hell In A Cell Match, and that he will bring the pain and tells 'Taker that all he has to do is show up.

Sunny is guest ring announcer for the next match.

The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) beat The Nation of Domination (Faarooq and Kama Mustafa) by disqualification when D'Lo Brown and Rocky Maivia attack The Legion. Ahmed Johnson - now with his right hand taped up - shows up to make the save, but The Nation of Domination continue to dominate until referees and officials restore order.

We look back at "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka's leap off the top of the steel cage at Madison Square Garden on October 17, 1983.

Before the next match, Brian Pillman shows up with a sling around his left arm as Marlena appears, dressed even more modestly than last time and with a black handbag over her shoulder. He says that today is a dark day for professional wrestling as it has been robbed of a classic battle between himself and Owen Hart, as he broke his arm when he had Marlena squealing like a pig when he slipped and fell in the bathtub. He tells Owen Hart that he has to forfeit, but WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter shows up and wants proof, then tells Pillman to think fast and tosses the microphone to him. Pillman catches the microphone with his left hand, which is still in a sling, revealing that the broken arm is a ruse. Sgt. Slaughter orders them to have their match, or both of them will never wrestle in the WWF again.

During the commercial break, Marlena smacks Owen Hart in the back of the head with her handbag, forcing Owen Hart to fight Brian Pillman and forcing the match to escalate.

Owen Hart beats Brian Pillman by disqualification to continue to the finals of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament after Goldust rushes into the ring, attacks Owen Hart first and goes after Pillman. It is announced that Viewer's Choice will replay One Night Only tomorrow at 8 PM and 11 PM in Canada only, while in America, the show is kept off pay-per-view due to a clause in Bret "The Hit Man" Hart's contract which causes the event to be subsequently released on VHS in that country. Owen dedicates the win to his brother Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, but is then attacked by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. The policemen who have accompanies Owen to the ring scramble and surround Austin, then Vince McMahon gets in the ring and tells Austin to get a hold of himself, saying he knows he's upset he can't compete but tells him not to break the law and that if he competes now, he risks hurting and paralyzing himself. He tells Austin that the WWF will not stand by and let that happen, and that everyone wants to see him compete, but in due time. Austin looks at his watch, then Vince asks Austin if he knows how many people care about him and asks him to just go with it and work within the system. Austin tells Vince that this is all he does for a living, then tells him he'll work within "his stupid little system." He appreciates that everyone cares, then appreciates the fact that Vince can kiss his ass. Austin then hits Vince with a Stone Cold Stunner and flips him off before the police finally arrest him and take him to the back while referees and officials check on Vince.

Jerry "The King" Lawler interviews Rhonda Shear from USA Network's Up All Night, who briefly plugs her show.

Before the next match, Dude Love shows up on the TitanTron, saying Falls Count Anywhere "isn't exactly his bag" and "isn't a love thing." He does know someone who is into this, though: Mankind. Mankind shows up and says that as much as he's dreamed about destroying Hunter Hearst Helmsley, he knows someone who dreams about it even more and can do even worse things than him: Cactus Jack. The third and last face of Mick Foley shows up on the TitanTron, saying Mrs. Foley's baby boy has come home, and comes to the ring with a trash can and a couple of weapons.

The Survivor Series Super Supper Sweepstakes is coming...

We look back on Andre The Giant body slamming Big John Studd at WrestleMania 1 in March 31, 1985 in Madison Square Garden.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up with a steel chair, and is about to remind everyone how he became the WWF European Champion at One Night Onlywhen he tells The Undertaker to bring "his dead ass" to the ring and face him like a man. After the commercial break, Shawn is still waiting for him, saying 'Taker is afraid of him. 'Taker finally shows up but notice Hunter Hearst Helmsley - with a bandage around his forehead - coming at him from behind. He attacks Helmsley, but Shawn attacks 'Taker from behind with the steel chair. Chyna and "Ravishing" Rick Rude show up, and all four of them decimate The Undertaker. 'Taker manages to get right back up and grab the steel chair, and Shawn, Helmsley, Rude and Chyna retreat.

Before the next match, Bret says he doesn't give a crap who wins the Hell In A Cell match as he'll face the winner regardless, saying both "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels' and The Undertaker's days are numbered as he has already beaten 'Taker and that Shawn is getting what is coming to him after what he did to The British Bulldog.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart beats Goldust with the Sharpshooter, then refuses to release the hold. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, who showed up in the middle of the match, runs into the rng and fights Bret, theN Hunter Hearst Helmsley runs in and attacks Bret. Owen Hart rushes in and attacks Helmsley. The British Bulldog limps to the ring and fights Helmsley, then "Ravishing" Rick Rude kicks Bulldog in the back of th eleg. Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, who hasn't been seen since before SummerSlam and with his goatee completely intact, shows up and fights alongside Bret, Owen and The Bulldog, then The Undertaker shows up and choke slams both Bret and Shawn to end the show.

Not shown in the taping for this show is a Triple Threat Match between Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. Bret "The Hit Man" Hart retains the WWF Championship after The Undertaker hits Shawn with a Tombstone Piledriver only to be dragged out of the ring by "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna and Bret takes advantage by picking the bones off The Undertaker's handiwork.

Vince's Got A Shotgun - Shotgun Saturday Night recap for April 26, 1997

The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) beat The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn). When Animal and Hawk hit Henry with the Doomsday Device, Henry accidentally lands on his head. (It is later revealed that he suffered a cracked C7 vertebra.) After the match, Henry is very upset about the loss, while Hillbilly Jim and Phineas are in better spirits.

Goldust beats Mike Bell. Before the match, it is announced that Henry O. Godwinn has been hospitalized, complaining of neck pains. It is also mentioned that Henry O. Godwinn may also have a head injury. During the match, we see pre-recorded comments from Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who says that this Monday night on Raw, Goldust has set the stage for his destruction and it will be face-to-face and head-on. Helmsley says Goldust and the audience that night will never forget the name of Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

Before the next match, Kevin Kelly tries to interview Mankind, but Mankind scares him away with a lighter as he takes the microphone away from him. Kevin Kelly wisely makes his way backstage, and Mankind says some very bad things are going to happen very soon. He wants to make sure the people are aware of why they will happen. All of his life, only one man has ever believed in him and trusted him, and The Undertaker tried to take him away. Mankind says he loved "Uncle Paul," and he knows he is taught to forgive and forget, but every time he thinks of Paul Bearer's face melting in his hands, he finds it hard to forget. He tells The Undertaker to remember that somewhere, sometime, he will learn about loss. But first, Sycho Sid has a lesson to learn. He asks some kids in the front row if they go to school, and if school teaches them about history. He then says if you take Lewis and Clark and sent them on another expedition, and threw in Ferdinand Magellan and Christopher Columbus, they still wouldn't be able to locate Sycho Sid's courage because he has none. He was supposed to wrestle Sid weeks ago, but he had an injury. He says he did not feel good when The Undertaker put him through a table, as he was dying inside but did not miss a match. If he bailed out every time he had an injury, he wouldn't be in many matches. He then gets on his knees and begs Sycho Sid to find a spine before calling him a gutless worm, as he has a big surprise for him on May 11th. Next week, for "all the low-life losers," he's got the biggest surprise of all. He tells the fans to think about that and try to have a nice day.

Vader is back in the United States of America after being jailed in Kuwait for 11 days, thanks to the efforts of U.S. officials. In a press conference Friday morning in New York City, Vader says he apologizes to no one and for nothing. He was stripped of his liberty and freedom, inundated by death threats and had 24-hour security. He says it all comes down to simple extortion, as the integrity of the man who interviewed him was worth $25,000 in two hours, and was worth $400,000+ the next morning. He says they wanted ratings, and they got the highest ratings they have had in the last couple of years.

The Nation of Domination (Crush, D'Lo Brown, Savio Vega) beat Freddie Joe Floyd, Steve Corino and "The Portuguese Man-O-War" Aldo Montoya. Faarooq whips Steve Corino with his leather strap after the match.

Flash Funk beats Nick Barbury. Before the match, it is announced that Henry O. Godwinn suffered a cracked vertebra and that his neck is broken, and that he will be out for some time.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for March 17, 1997

The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) beat The Nation of Domination (Crush and Savio Vega) by disqualification in a match where Faarooq and Ahmed Johnson are banned from ringside, after Faarooq shows up with a nightstick and attacks The Legion of Doom. During the match, Ahmed Johnson is pleased that The Legion of Doom is cleaning house in the ring, and says that there's no telling what will happen in the Chicago Street Fight at WrestleMania 13. Faarooq says Madison Square Garden was the start of what The Nation of Domination will do at WrestleMania 13, and that Ahmed doesn't know what the streets are like as when you look up "street," you'll see Faarooq's name next to it. Also, footage from the aftermath of last night's Madison Square Garden match between Ahmed Johson and Savio Vega, where The Nation attacks Ahmed, is shown. After the commercial break, Ahmed is attacked by Faarooq with a nightstick after it is revealed that Faarooq is not in the locker room. It is not long until Faarooq attacks The Legion of Doom with the nightstick. After the match, The Nation attacks The Legion, but Ahmed Johnson rushes to the ring with a 2x4 in his hand and gets J.C. Ice and Wolfie D as he clears the ring out, while another member of the Nation eats a Doomsday Device from Animal and Hawk.

It is announced that WWF President Gorilla Monsoon is en route to the arena right now to make an announcement regarding whether or not the steel cage match between Bret "The Hit Man" Hart and Sycho Sid will be for the WWF Championship. There is a rumor going around that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels might be in the building, but it is confirmed that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley beats Flash Funk after Chyna gets on the apron to keep Flash Funk from hitting his 450 Splash. After the match, Chyna holds Flash Funk down while Helmsley continues to attack him. When officials tell Chyna and Helmsley to get out of the ring, Chyna gets physical and pushes one of them back with authority.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is seen in the building in his first Raw appearance since Thursday Raw Thursday.

It is announced that a tax bill has died in New Jersey to ensure that professional wrestling can come back to New Jersey. New Jersey Governor Hon. Christine Todd Whitman announces that professional wrestling is coming back to the state of New Jersey, who says that she and her son are big wrestling fans and that she understands what a difference it means to the people of New Jersey. The Undertaker made a special appearance during this announcement.

Mini Goldust and Mascarita Sagrada, Jr. beat Mini Mankind and Mini Vader. It is announced that on Option 6 of the WWF Superstar Line, The Ross Report has news on a WWF Superstar recently undergoing a strip search under orders from the FAA. After the match, Mascarita Sagrada, Jr. chases Mini Vader to the entrance ramp, drop kicks him off the side of it, and then hits a cross body from the side of the entrance ramp to the floor below, hitting Mini Vader.

WWF President Gorilla Monsoon announces that Bret "The Hit Man" Hart vs. Sycho Sid in a steel cage match is for the WWF Championship, promising to give Hart the opportunity that he deserves despite bad timing (which is especially bad for Undertaker fans).

Kevin Kelly interviews Bret "The Hit Man" Hart in the ring. He says that he is appreciative of Gorilla Monsoon looking into his situation a little more closely, and says that he deserves a little more respect around here. He knows The Undertaker is not too thrilled about Monsoon's decision, but there is a new motto in the World Wrestling Federation: "You scratch my back and I'll stab yours." He also knows The Undertaker won't be too thrilled when he becomes a five-time WWF Champion, but he need not worry because he will give him his shot. Once he changes the face of WrestleMania 13 and faces "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Austin will be in for the worst thrashing of his entire life and that he won't be able to scream "I give" loud enough in a submission match. He also respects Ken Shamrock and his reputation, and hopes that he will call the match down the middle and be close enough to hear the words "I quit." He hopes to become a five-time WWF Champion tonight, and looks forward to a long, healthy title run.

The Wrestlemania 13 Hockey Jersey and Black Denim Jacket are available at $69 and $99...and George and Adam from the Royal Rumble vignettes are the models.

Rocky Maivia guests on commentary for the next match.

The Sultan beats Mike Bell with the Camel Clutch, then stares down with Rocky Maivia after the match. Rocky Maivia is about to fight The Sultan when Tony Atlas climbs over the guardrail and calms Maivia down as officials tell The Sultan to back off.

The intro to the show replays to signify the start of the second hour.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up in a WWF ring for the first time since Thursday Raw Thursday, and Vince McMahon interviews him in the ring. Shawn has his smile back, as he has found it back home in San Antonio, Texas and plans to bring it with him wherever he goes. He thanks the fans of the World Wrestling Federation for not only sending him cards and letters - some of them to his parents' address - wishing him well, but also for being patient with "the world's most emotional wrestler," as he is very hard to deal with. He says the cards and letters came at a time when it seemed like nobody gave a damn about "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. He then announces that his knee is coming along, and he plans to see Dr. Anders in Birmingham to see what's going on, and hopefully he will be in a WWF ring again in a couple of months whether anyone likes it or not. He says his time off has done wonders for him, and when he comes back, he'll be busting a move like he used to and the clothes are coming off. He also has a bone to pick with Vince, as he didn't invite him to WrestleMania 13. Since he can now walk, he'll have to invite himself to WrestleMania 13 and guest on commentary so Vince calls the WWF Championship match down the middle. He also says Vince didn't invite him to the Slammy Awards, as he is up for a couple of them. He has a new home in San Antonio, and he needs some more room for the Slammy Awards that he's going to be winning. He says WrestleMania 13 isn't complete without him, and he is on his way.

The Undertaker tries to destroy the steel cage backstage...

The British Bulldog beats Vader by disqualification after Mankind grabs Vader's foot to stop The Bulldog's running power slam and Owen Hart stops him. After the match, Bulldog manages to knock Paul Bearer off the apron, grab his urn and use it as a weapon against Mankind and Vader.

Ken Shamrock guests on commentary for the next match.

Billy Gunn beats Aaron Ferguson with an arm bar, then confronts Ken Shamrock after the match, saying he doesn't look that tough to him and they he doesn't live up to his hype. He then gets in the ring and dares him to get in with him. Ken Shamrock gets in the ring and makes Billy Gunn eat his words, the first time with an arm bar and the second time with an ankle lock. Shamrock threatens to break one of his bones if he tries again, and Billy pretends to leave only to rush back in with a steel chair. The referee stops Billy Gunn from getting back in, and Shamrock stands tall in the ring as Billy Gunn tells him this isn't over.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin says he isn't impressed with what just happened, and says Ken Shamrock doesn't belong in the WWF as it is his place. Austin claims that all Ken Shamrock has done is get in a couple of street fights with some guy capturing it on video so he could become a big star. He says that Shamrock is overrated and a piece of trash, and that he and Shamrock will square off and he'll beat the hell out of him. He tells Shamrock to call his match with Bret "The Hit Man" Hart like he sees it or he'll punch him in the face. Austin says he is the King of the Ring, and nobody can say he can't be here. He's happy Bret Hart has a title shot, and when WrestleMania 13 is over he will be the WWF Championship. Austin goes on to say Hart won the Royal Rumble, and the only reason Hart won at Final Four is because he was "crippled and sick." He says that Bret Hart on his best day could not even lace his boots, and he will prove that to the world when he beats the hell out of him.

Sycho Sid says he is always ready. He tells "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to stay out of his business as he knows why he is here. He plans to powerbomb Bret "The Hit Man" Hart right to the floor and become WWF Champion.

Sycho Sid retains the WWF Championship against Bret "The Hit Man" in a steel cage match. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin watches the match from backstage, then shows up later to make sure Sycho Sid doesn't get out, first by locking the steel cage door on Sid and then fighting Sid when he tries to climb out of the cage. Bret "The Hit Man" Hart takes advantage by attacking Sid along with Austin at the top of the cage to try to become a five-time WWF Champion, but The Undertaker shows up and fights all three men. Austin goes down, Hart is able to land a superplex on Sid from the top of the cage. Austin fights 'Taker at ringside and hits him with a steel chair, then leaves. The Undertaker is able to get back up and slam the steel cage door shut on Hart as he tries to get out while Sid climbs out of the cage at the same time, and thanks to The Undertaker, Sid is able to escape first.

After the commercial break, Bret "The Hit Man" is finally fed up, and he stays in the ring as the steel cage is deconstructed. Vince McMahon tries to interview Hart, saying that Hart must be frustrated, but Hart finally snaps, shoves Vince to the mat and says "Frustrated isn't a goddamn word for it!" and "This is bullshit!" He says that everyone screws him, and that nobody does a thing about it. He says that he should be WWF Championship, but everyone turns a blind eye to what happens to him. He then tells the fans "If you don't like it, tough shit!" "Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up on the TitanTron, saying that Bret is crying like a baby once again before telling Bret that he tried to help him, but he threw it all away because he's a loser. He says it could have been the two of them for the WWF Championship, but he threw it all away. Bret argues with Austin, and says he doesn't have the guts to come in the ring with him. Sycho Sid comes back, and Bret lowers the straps on his singlet ready to fight. The Undertaker returns, but Hart notices him and goes after him instead. Austin jumps in and attacks Bret as Bret attacks The Undertaker, and The Undertaker immediately focuses on Sycho Sid in the ring. Austin and Bret fight outside the ring while 'Taker and Sid fight insid ethe ring, and officials have their hands full breaking these two brawls up. Hart punches out Pat Patterson as he escorts Bret back up the entrance ramp, and goes back at it with Austin while 'Taker and Sid try to choke slam each other simultaneously only to wear each other out trying. Suddenly , "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up, slowly walks down the entrance ramp and instead of going after Hart, approaches the ring as Sid and 'Taker make their way out and grabs a steel chair, and slowly approaches Bret with it from a distance as the show ends.

Vince's Got A Shotgun - Shotgun Saturday Night recap for February 8, 1997

Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" plays as The Undertaker welcomes us to "Amtrak's night train to Hell," as tonight's edition of Shotgun Saturday Night takes place at Penn Station in New York City.

The Nation of Domination (Faarooq and Crush) beat The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn). During the match, Todd Pettengill puts some guy on camera, claiming he is his dentist and that he saves $100,000 a year on dental floss. Also, Savio Vega shows up to watch from ringside before the first commercial break. Later on, Savio Vega trips Phineas, and when Phineas grabs Vega, Faarooq and Crush double team Phineas to get the win.

Thursday Raw Thursday is this Thursday, two hours long and live on USA Network.

A limousine pulls up at Penn Station. Out comes Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who heads to the ring, and Todd Pettengill interviews him. Helmsley tells Pettengill he has a better chance of seeing him ride an Amtrak train than seeing him lose the WWF Intercontinental Championship. When he interviews the building, he gives a few brief words to the crew of Entertainment Tonight, who are covering the event.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship by disqualification. Early into the match, The Undertaker whips Hunter Hearst Helmsley into the referee, and Helmsley uses the opportunity to nail The Undertaker with the WWF Intercontinental Championship. The referee is back up after the second commercial break of the match. Later on in the match, Helmsley tries to use the title as a weapon again, but The Undertaker takes it from him and uses it against him in full view of the referee, ending the match. After the match, The Undertaker hits Helmsley with a mighty choke slam. He then calls for the Tombstone Piledriver, but Helmsley gets out of the ring and The Undertaker chases after him, eventually grabbing him and hitting the Tombstone right in front of a down escalator. Triple H lays in a sitting position as it takes him to the bottom.

Todd Pettegill interviews people in the crowd to no avail as the cameraman cannot get a clear shot of him.

Savio Vega vs. "The Portuguese Man-o-War" Aldo Montoya ends in a no-contest. During the match, Todd Pettengill interviews a fan who has an old Vince McMahon figurine from the 1980s. Shortly after this, Faarooq and Crush show up to watch the match from ringside before the commercial break. After the break, The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) show up to do the same. It doesn't take long for Faarooq and Crush to get in the ring, but The Godwinns get in there with them and clear them out. They then ask the referee to make it a six-man tag team match.

Tomorrow on Superstars: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Vader! Bret "The Hit Man" Hart guests on color commentary!

Savio Vega vs. "The Portuguese Man of War" Aldo Montoya is now a six-man tag team match between the team of Montoya and The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) vs. The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, Crush, Vega). During the match, Todd Pettengill interviews a woman who confronts another woman for stealing her man, and the other woman asks Todd to hold her purse while both women go at it.

The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, Crush, Savio Vega) beats the team of "The Portuguese Man of War" Aldo Montoya and The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) after Montoya never gets the chance to tag in and Henry O. Godwinn chases a member of The Nation further into the building.

Henry O. Godwinn is seen trying to throw slop at a member of The Nation of Domination. The slop ends up all over Pat Patterson, who is on the monitor at gorilla position, asks Sunny if she thinks this is funny.

Todd Pettengill interviews Curtis Lee, founder of The Guardian Angels, who says The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, Crush, Savio Vega) needs an attitude adjustment and need to get a therapeutic massage and stuffed in some concrete.
