Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for April 3, 2024

Adam Copeland heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Copeland says now is a great time to be a professional wrestling fan, and talks about how he grew up on WWF, NWA and Stampede Wrestling, to name a few, and how he had his career torn away from him and had to work to get it back. He says that when he got his career back, he realized that AEW was where he needed to end his career, as he saw "a murderer's row of talent" when he looked at the roster. He says that while he has been in great locker rooms, he will put AEW's against anybody's. Copeland says he can face Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, "Hangman" Adam Page, Swerve Strickland, and many more for first-time-ever matches, and when friends tell him he is having a blast, they are right. He says that he has had fun everywhere he went, but AEW has been the most fun, and for that, he celebrates AEW as well as those who started it, as they have pushed everyone and the business into a better place and given more people to do what they love for a living, and that all of this should be celebrated. He says that AEW has made pro wrestling better and more fun, and that AEW is where the best wrestle. He then says that AEW is moving forward and walking into the future, saying that there is a reason why some of the biggest names, including himself, came here. Copeland then introduces Will Ospreay to the ring.

Don Callis guests on commentary for the next match.

Will Ospreay beats Powerhouse Hobbs. After the match, Hobbs gets in Ospreay's face as Don Callis tries to raise both of their hands. As Ospreay is on the ramp, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson heads to the ring for the next match.

"The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson beats Lance Archer.

Renee Paquette interviews "Lionheart" Chris Jericho on the stage. Jericho mentions his proposition to Hook to be his mentor, then calls out Hook for something he said to him when he agreed to the proposition. Hook shows up. Jericho mentions Hook telling him "I know how you are," and Jericho says it is no secret that he has turned on those that he has aligned with. He says that when one plays the game at the highest of levels, the rules are different. He says that Hook will understand what he is trying to teach him if he can understand that, and asks Hook to believe in him like he believes in Hook. Hook says he believes in him so much that he got them a match, and says he will keep his eye on him. Jericho tells Hook that he would not expect anything less, then both men fist bump.

Backstage, Lee Moriarty has a plan to shoot to the top by facing and beating "the golden child of AEW." Shane Taylor says they will add their name to the greats on Collision by beating Chris Jericho and Hook.

"Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn beats "Switchblade" Jay White by disqualification following a low blow by Jay White. During the match, The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster and Anthony Bowens), who have been watching the match from backstage, are seen laid out backstage on the video screen, presumably by The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn), who have also been watching the match from backstage. The Gunns soon show up to protect Jay White and beg for mercy after Billy Gunn grabs a metal folding chair from the timekeeper's area, and Billy Gunn eventually rears back with the chair only for Jay White to hit him with a low blow in full view of the referee, causing the disqualification. After the match, Bullet Club Gold (Jay White, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn) try to attack Billy Gunn, but The Acclaimed show up and even the numbers game, beating up The Gunns and stopping Jay White from escaping. Billy Gunn soon hits Jay White with a clothesline, and The Acclaimed get Jay White up on the ring steps. The Gunns make the save for Jay White, and the three of them flee through the crowd.

In footage from earlier today, The Young Bucks (Nicholas and Matthew Jackson) and Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta) - including Trent Beretta's mom Sue - arrive at the arena.

Renee Paquette interviews Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway on the stage. Willow says she is feeling "motherfluffin' great" after winning the recent four-way match, then talks about how she has wrestled in the local area, including The White Eagle, and figured out who she was. She says that every time she wonders if someone like her belongs in the professional wrestling business, the fans' cheers reassure her, and that this applause made her into who she is now. Willow says she is so confident from the fans' love and support that she knows she will be the smiling face of TBS. Stokely Hathaway says Willow had "a banger" last week and knocked it out of the park, and says Willow is something special week after week. He says Willow has impressed him and the entire world, then Mercedes Moné suddenly shows up. Mercedes says she cannot wait to see Willow tear it up with Julia Hart at Dynasty, as she gets whoever is champion at Double or Nothing, as money changes everything in Las Vegas.

The Young Bucks (Nicholas and Matthew Jackson) beat Best Friends (Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta) to advance to the finals of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament after Matthew slingshots Trent Beretta into an exposed top turnbuckle in a match that also sees Trent's mom Sue slap Matthew for nearly superkicking her. After the match, Trent Beretta hits Orange Cassidy with the running knee as they and Chuck Taylor go for the group hug, then he walks out.

"Timeless" Toni Storm guests on commentary for the next match.

Thunder Rosa beats Mariah May by countering the May Day with the Backstabber before hitting the Tijuana Bomb to become #1 contender for the AEW Women's World Championship. After the match, Thunder Rosa dares "Timeless" Toni Storm to face her right now.

Backstage we hear from Penta el Zero Miedo and Alex Abrahantes. Abrahantes says Penta is for the people and that Penta wants gold once again. Penta wants Adam Copeland to defend the TNT Championship against him next week, and Abrahantes says that the fans want a champion with zero fear.

Tony Schiavone oversees the contract signing for Swerve Strickland vs. Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship at Dynasty. Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana head to the ring first, followed by Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe signs the contract, then says Swerve is working on bad information and that he knows where he is coming from, and that signing the contract for this match is doom and destruction and a big, career-defining mistake for him. Joe says he will also beat Swerve down so severely that he will leave him mentally scarred like he "left Diddy's party too late," and now that Swerve has the right information, he should do the right thing. Swerve tells Joe he has wanted this moment all of his life and has dreamt of this moment because he believed it was not actually possible, and that his destination is filled with a long, winding road of obstacles and roadblocks. He says the journey has taken him to Dynasty, that AEW is creating its own dynasty, and that this is "bigger than the both of us." Swerve says he knows what he is getting into and that Joe is nothing short of a killer, but so is he, and he will show he is every bit of that man." After Swerve tells Joe that this will be his house and to "Run the fade on that, bitch!", this starts a brawl. Swerve tries to coke Joe with his chain, but Joe breaks free, wraps the chain around his right hand and punches Swerve with it. Referees try to restrain Joe, and Joe leaves the ring and heads to the back as a bloodied Swerve crawls to the pen and contract, laughs at Joe, and says "I love this shit!" He says that if this is all Joe has, then he is taking his championship from him. Joe is aghast as he rubs the pen on his own forehead and signs the contract in his own blood, and he gets back in the ring, hits Swerve with a low blow, and puts him through a table with a Uranage.
