Generation NXT - NXT recap for April 9, 2024

Roxanne Perez heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Roxanne says that what happened at Stand & Deliver was justice for the woman who went a year without her title and the culmination of a journey she was forced to take against her will, and now, all is right with the world. She says she knew Lyra Valkyria's arm was not at 100% and she used it as a target, and she did not care if she broke her arm. She also calls Lyra "a stupid champion" before stating there is nothing anyone can do to take her title from her. Roxanne says everything is on her terms and that nobody will tell her otherwise, and that she is only giving it up when she heads to Raw or SmackDown in the WWE Draft. Lyra shows up and asks if Roxanne if packing her bags after only two days as champion, then tells her to go to Raw and Smackdown and leave the NXT title here, as she will take it back in a rematch, despite being in a sling. Roxanne questions Lyra's decision maing here, then Tatum suddenly shows up and says that while Lyra is not medically cleared, she is. Lyra apologizes to Tatum for her words and says she is fine, but Tatum asks her if she is really fine before throwing her into the ring steps. After Roxanne says there will not be a title match, Natalya suddenly shows up wanting to face her for the NXT Championship, as the NXT Women's Championship is the one title she has never won. Lyra tries to talk her way out of it and walk away, but General Manager Ava shows up and makes the match official tonight.Roxanne tries to go for a cheap shot, but Natalya manages to outsmart her.

We see footage from "NXT Anonymous" of Nathan Frazer and Axiom asking General Manager Ava for another shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships.

Backstage, Kelly Kincaid interviews Nathan Frazer and Axiom. Frazer says they have one last chance and that tonight has to be different, and Axiom says that despite their history as rivals, their place is on top. Frazer says that if they can't do this, they will have to go their separate ways.

Earlier today at the Chase University campus, Kelani Jordan and Fallon Henley are awarded honorary degrees for their help at Stand & Deliver. Jacy Jayne and Jasmyn Nyx show up suddenly, and reveals that she really bailed Chase University out because back in July at The Great American Bash, Andre Chase bet on Thea Hail to beat Tiffany Stratton and win the NXT Women's Championship only to lose big, and calls Thea Hail "the problem." Andre Chase confesses to this and apologizes, saying he will bet on her every time, but Thea Hail walks out.

Kiana James and Izzi Dame beat Fallon Henley and Kelani Jordan.

We see a vignette for Je'Von Evans, who debuts next. Backstage, OTM (Bronco Nima, Lucien Price, Scrypts, Jaida Parker) are not impressed with Je'Von Evans, and Scrypts says Je'von is about to get bounced before they head to the ring.

Backstage, Charlie Dempsey talks with Damon Kemp and Myles Borne about Josh Barnett's Bloodsport X when The D'Angelo Family (Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, Arianna Rizzo, Luca Crusifino) shows up. Luca Crusifino says Tony D'Angelo will not be back until next week, and Stacks accuses the No Quarter Catch Crew (Dempsey, Kemp, Borne) of not wanting to get their hands dirty and having someone else do the work. This leads to a tag team match between the two sides when Arianna Rizzo says they can settle things in the ring tonight.

Je'Von Evans beats Scrypts.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Kelly Kincaid catches up with Ridge Holland, wanting to know what is going on after he hit Joe Gacy with a chair. Joe Gacy pops up out of some curtains and says he understands, as he went from being a Superstar to being in the countdown panel. Ridge walks away, but runs into Joaquin Wilde and Cruz del Toro, who say that they are not buying his "apology tour." As Ridge Holland leaves the building, del Toro goes after him only to get his hand caught in the door and hurt his fingers.

Roxanne Perez retains the NXT Women's Championship against Natalya after Lola Vice suddenly shows up and kicks Natalya in the back of the leg as the referee checks on Roxanne.

Backstage, Bron Breakker is met by Baron Corbin, who is fired up for tonight's match. Corbin tries to get Breakker to admit that their teaming up was a good thing, but Breakker refuses because he wants him to admit it. A few seconds later, it becomes obvious he was messing with Corbin.

Backstage, Lola Vice says she is tired of waiting for opportunities and is making her own, and as she states that she is ready for the NXT Women's North American Championship, she is attacked from behind by Natalya. Referees have to restore order.

The D'Angelo Family (Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Luca Crusifino) beat No Quarter Catch Crew (Damon Kemp and Myles Borne) after Stacks throws Charlie Dempsey into the ring, allowing for a double-team on Damon Kemp.

Oba Femi heads to the ring. Oba says some things are just inevitable, and that he knew he would retain the North American Championship at Stand & Deliver. He says this match would be the genesis of his rule and that nobody could deny Josh Briggs and Dijak's persistence. He says that 17,000 people witnessed his power, but all he could think of is this moment when he stood in the ring, still champion, and that he will inevitably remain champion for a very long time. Suddenly, Ivar shows up and says he can tell by the look in his face that he could not foretell he would be here tonight, and that everyone is talking about his match from Saturday, which he admits he loved the chaos of. He says that his match was exactly the kind of fight that he lives for, then Oba Femi asks Ivar what he wants. Ivar says he felt a deep jealousy, not just for the title around his shoulder, but for the fight that he wanted to be part of. Ivar says Josh Briggs and Dijak threw everything at him, but he remained the immovable object, and now he knows he is the one who can take him down and take the North American Championship. Oba says "We shall see," and as he leaves, Ivar stops him and says "Yes...we shall see." This leads to a brawl in which Ivar comes out on top.

Backstage, Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson) talk about how Stand & Deliver was the biggest ever. Meanwhile, Oro Mensah is still ticked off about Oba Femi hitting him with a door. Dijak suddenly shows up regarding Meta-Four's parody of him, and after Noam Dar tells him to stop being miserable all the time, Dijak tells Meta-Four that this is their only warning.

Jaida Parker beats Brinley Reece.

Backstage, Arianna Grace talks with Sol Ruca about her making Gigi Dolin into a proper lady before claiming she was the best kept secret of WrestleMania weekend before bringing up the NXT Women's North American Championship. As she leaves to take a call fro Gigi Dolin, Lola Vice shows up angry at the beating Natalya gave her, and when Sol Ruca reminds her that Natalya got revenge for costing her the NXT Women's Championship, Lola takes exception to this and leaves after saying a lot has changed since Sol Ruca was gone.

Nathan Frazer and Axiom beat Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker to become the NXT Tag Team Champions after Bron Breakker nearly hits Baron Corbin with a Spear. All of a sudden, The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Akam, Rezar, Paul Ellering) show up and Akam and Rezar attack Frazer and Axiom before hitting them with the Super Collider.

It is announced that Josh Briggs has suffered two fractured ribs in his match at Stand & Deliver. It is also announced that Spring Breakin' will take place on April 23rd and April 30th.

Trick Williams heads to the ring. Trick says that he and Carmelo Hayes went to war and that this weekend broke records, then says that while he does not agree with Carmelo or what he did, Carmelo is still "Him." He says that because of this, he had to show Carmelo who Trick is. Trick then asks what is next for him, then says he knows what is next and that so do the fans, and that is the NXT Championship. Trick then asks Ilja Dragunov to come to the ring, and Ilja Dragunov shows up and heads to the ring. He says that he is proud of the Superstar that Trick has become as well as Trick's charisma. After Trick says that the fans want to see him as NXT Champion, Dragunov says that Trick is full of himself, as he should be, but denies him a shot at the title, as he had his chance and failed and it is time for another Superstar to get a chance to face him. Trick asks who he has to beat to face him, and says nothing will stop him from the NXT Championship. Dragunov says Trick is a risk-taker and that he tells him that this will be his biggest risk, and tells him he has his shot in two weeks at Spring Breakin'. Dragunov then says that when he beats Trick, Trick must leave NXT. Trick says that if he cannot beat Dragunov, then he does not belong in NXT, and he accepts his challenge. After they shake hands, Carmelo Hayes attacks Trick Williams from behind, knocking him into Dragunov in the process before telling him he will beat him in a steel cage match next week.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
