Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for August 9, 2023

The Jericho Appreciation Society are in the ring to start tonight's show with their mandatory meeting, and "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard introduces Chris Jericho. As Jericho says he came down to the ring as a friend and not a rock star or "The Demo God," Daniel Garcia tells him to shut up and listen, then says he was ready to have a civil conversation until last week. Garcia says he changed everything himself and put Jericho first every time only for Jericho to never choose them in return. He says he cannot do this any more and leaves. Jake Hager says that while Chris Jericho made a lot of money, there are a lot of options, then says he does not appreciate Jericho and leaves. Jericho appreciates Tay Conti and Anna Jay, saying that their careers were enriched by him and that he is proud of how better their careers have gotten. Tay says she was proud of Jericho, but not anymore, and says she will come back next year and become a champion without him. Conti then quits the J.A.S. and leaves. Anna Jay says that Jericho helped himself more than he helped them, then says she is being selfish tonight, for tonight is about the Women's World Championship and it is not about appreciating him. Anna Jay leaves. "Cool Hand" Angelo Parker says he does not want to do this, as he considers joining the J.A.S. a badge of honor and he has given Jericho everything. He then states that Jericho has not given in return, and he has nothing left to give. Parker leaves. "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard calls Jericho his childhood hero, going so far as to buy a Chris Jericho T-shirt with his first every paycheck and taking his invitation to join AEW while his wife was eight months pregnant. He says the last 18 months were a dream, but now he understands why other people Jericho has worked with now hate his guts, and leaves. Jericho speaks to Sammy Guevara, but Sammy slaps the microphone out of his hand and says he competed for the world title and did what he did because of Jericho. He says he will not walk out on Jericho because he is his friend, and he thought he would do those things for him. He says Jericho has things to work out and he hopes he does, and when he does, maybe he will be there. He then leaves. Jericho is then alone in the ring.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Chris Jericho, then Don Callis shows up. Jericho says he has made up his mind and that he will make an announcement next week.

The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) beat The Hardys (Jeff and Matt Hardy). Both teams shake hands after the match. Afterwards, Matt Jackson calls FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), and FTR shows up as if on cue. Both The Young Bucks and FTR have a staredown in the ring, then Matt says "All In." FTR raise up the AEW World Tag Team Championships in response. Not long afterwards, the match is official for All In.

It is announced that there will be a tournament to see who will face Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women's World Championship, with the winners competing for the title in a four-way match at All In.

In footage from last week, Adam Cole and MJF head to a trampoline park. When MJF finds out the place has dodgeball, MJF hits every kid in sight. When Cole confronts MJF, a little girl shows up and calls them both nerds for being at the park and flips Cole off. Cole sics MJF's dodgeball skills on the little girl.

We hear from The Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta). Jon Moxley hopes that Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta) have learned they don't believe in a ring, much less a parking lot, then says that The Lucha Brothers have picked a fight with them and that they know, not think, they can win. He says they only think about picking their teeth with their enemies' bones. Claudio tells PAC that he will pay for thinking he can come back after months on the shelf and just turn on them, and Wheeler Yuta mentions that PAC is back on the shelf for another while. Moxley then says that The Blackpool Combat Club do not fear death, for death fears them.

Jack Perry retains the FTW Championship against Rob Van Dam with a low blow followed by ramming RVD into a chair in the corner.

Backstage, Renee Pacquette interviews Alex Abrahantes and The Lucha Brothers (Penta el Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix). Alex says the symbol of Death Triangle is a symbol of brotherhood that Death Triangle fights for, while The Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta) fight to maim and hurt people. Rey Fenix calls the BCC "The Blackpool Coward Club," and Penta el Zero Miedo says they will prove why they are the best in the universe.

MJF and Adam Cole head to the ring. MJF admits that the footage of him saying the Mid-West is "mid" is "heavily edited and heavily fake," and dares God to strike him down if he is lying when he says that his favorite place in America is the Mid-West. When Adam Cole mentions their match for the AEW World Championship at All In, MJF thinks they want to do a promo battle, but Adam Cole says that is not the case. Adam Cole says that they are going to make history when they compete for the championship, and admits that as frustrating as it was not to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships, he has his eyes on something as important: the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships. Cole says he owes his entire career to Ring of Honor, having been its only three-time World Champion and having won all of the titles except for the tag team titles, which have been held by legendary tag teams who have set the bar for tag team wrestling. He says that it is time to show how good they are, and says that they should challenge for the ROH World Tag Team Championships and win them on Zero Hour at All In. MJF is puzzled by Adam Cole wanting him to wrestle twice in one night and asks him if he is some kind of "sick pervert," but quickly entertains the idea and agrees to challenging Aussie Open for the ROH World Tag Team Championships. All of a sudden, Roderick Strong shows up, irritated that Adam Cole wants to win the ROH World Tag Team Championships with MJF and not him, and MJF tells Roderick to go home and cry into his pillow to Taylor Swift and "shake it off." This leads to a "shake it off" chant, and Roderick asks Adam Cole if he is going to just stand there and let MJF talk about him like that, then says The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) was right about Adam and that Adam was never really his friend. The Kingdom then show up and hug Roderick before helping him to the back. The Kingdom then show up and hug Roderick before helping him to the back. MJF mocks Roderick further, and Adam Cole confronts him before realizing this is a mistake, then both men hug it out before MJF tells him to check on Roderick Strong.

The Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley) beat The Lucha Brothers (Penta el Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) after Rey Fenix goes after Wheeler Yuta when Alex Abrahantes stops Yuta from getting physically involving in the match and Moxley pulls Penta's mask off before grabbing the tights on the schoolkid pin. After the match, Yuta and Moxley attack The Lucha Brothers while Claudio mockingly wears Penta's mask and goes on the attack while referees try to restore order.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Kenny Omega. He says FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) are four of the best to do it in an AEW ring and he is hoping The Young Bucks pull through. As for him, he will be talking with Jim Ross about his future.

The Mogul Embassy head to the ring. Swerve Strickland says they had to prove a point by heading to the Buddy Wayne Wrestling Academy and putting the fear of God in Nick Wayne, then says The Mogul Embassy are the authority and that they are above the law. AR Fox then immediately calls Darby Allin out, and Darby Allin shows up and tells AR Fox the whole story and says that he lived with him and his demon and tried harder than anyone else to help him and that he had to leave after AR Fox was the only one who could save himself. He then says that he did not have to put a word in for AEW to sign AR Fox, and while he will always credit AR Fox for saving his life, and while AR Fox has some new friends, so does he. The lights go out, and when they come back on, Sting is in the ring. The Mogul Embassy soon flees when Sting goes on the attack with his bat, and Swerve is the last man in the ring when Sting hits him with his back. Sting then backs Swerve into a corner and points at the sign for All In, then Swerve retreats.

Hikaru Shida retains the AEW Women's World Championship against Anna Jay despite "Cool Hand" Angelo Parker's attempts at reviving Anna Jay.
