Generation NXT - NXT recap for August 1, 2023

In memory of "Exotic" Adrian Street, 1940 - 2023.

Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo are attacked by Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang) outside of the building at the start of the show.

Before the next match, Jacy Jayne makes it known to Vic Joseph and Booker T that she is going to finish what she started with Lyra Valkyria, and that this time, there will be nobody to pull her off of Lyra. Lyra and Jacy then brawl on the stage before the match starts.

Lyra Valkyria beats Jacy Jayne.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams talk about Hayes' successful title defense against Ilja Dragunov, then Trick says "I gotta start doin' this for me," and that he needs to prove he is no sidekick and that he has to show Dragunov what he is made of. Trick says this is no break-up and that he has to be his own man, to which Carmelo agrees.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks' Lorenzo. Tony says that Gallus are "dead man walking" and that he wants Gallus in a match tonight, and Stacks says it will be three against two. D'Angelo tells Stacks to "make the call."

Rhea Ripley and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio head to the ring. Rhea says that Dominik is more of a man than Wes Lee, Mustafa Ali and all of the fans, and Dominik says that makes him the greatest luchador that ever lived. Suddenly, Dragon Lee shows up. Dragon Lee says he will not take the disrespect any longer and that he, the fans and even Dominik himself do not believe Dominik's claims, as Rey is the greatest of all time. Dominik says he made the Mysterio name and that he is still champion, but Dragon Lee says he is only champion because of Rhea, who has "[his] cojones on her purse." Rhea says Dom's cojones are bigger than Dragon Lee's, and Dragon Lee tells Dom to prove it with the title on the line next week. Dominik accepts the challenge. Rhea then says that wherever Dominik goes, she also goes, and Dragon Lee reveals that he will have Rey Mysterio in his corner when Rey appears on the TitanTron and announces that he will be in Dragon Lee's corner.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes is met by an angry Wes Lee, who says that he has lost three weeks in a row while Carmelo is on top of the world as he scrapes by. Carmelo says he is still feeling the effects of his match with Dragunov and that Wes Lee does not know what it takes to hold the NXT Championship. As Wes Lee says that he begs to differ, then Noam Dar and Oro Mensah show up and Noam declares himself Heritage Cup Champion. Noam says that Nathan Frazer never beat him, but Dominik Mysterio beat Wes Lee twice. This leads to a brawl that referees quickly break up.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Thea Hail. Thea says she left it all in the ring and that she did not give up, and insists that Andre Chase did not have to throw in the towel. Baron Corbin shows up and tells Andre Chase to apologize for destroying Thea's hopes and reams, then tells Thea that wrestling is not for everyone and that she peaked on Sunday and should pack her things and go. Andre Chase confronts Baron Corbin, who then tells Chase to tighten up his dress pants and do something about it.

Dijak beats Eddy Thorpe.

Backstage, Tony D'Angelo makes a phone call which goes to his satisfaction, then tells Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo "He's on his way."

Backstage, Dana Brooke and Kelani Jordan watch Dana's match with Cora Jade from last week. Dana says Cora brought a dark side out of her, and Kelani says the fans needed to see that side. Dana admits she liked that after all the negative comments and all the directions her career has went, then tells Kelani to find her killer instinct and call someone out, because she will need a killer instinct.

Elektra Lopez and Lola Vice beat Valeninta Feroz and Yulisa Leon.

We see a TikTok video from Tiffany Stratton, who announces that she will return next week and that whatever she does then will be fabulous.

The Meta-Four (Noam Dar and Oro Mensah) beat Carmelo Hayes and Wes Lee after Wes Lee nails Carmelo Hayes with a Cardiac Kick meant for Noam Dar. After the match, Wes Lee argues with Carmelo Hayes.

We hear from Bron Breakker, who says that he has watched Von Wagner's story for the last couple of weeks and calls it "touching stuff," then tells Von Wagner that he is a nobody just like his father and that he is soft. He then says that if Von Wagner doesn't like what he is saying, he can come find him, and if Von Wagner thinks the photo of himself as a child with stitches around his head was bad, then what he will do to him will be even worse.

Backstage, Rhea Ripley and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio are confronted by Axiom, who says that he cannot wait until next week to see Dragon Lee beat Dominik when Mustafa Ali butts in to confront Dominik. Rhea and Dominik leave, and when Axiom refuses to take the disrespect, Mustafa Ali tells him that he has been disrespected for six years and that the North American title is his.

Baron Corbin beats Andre Chase after Thea Hail throws the towel as Corbin has Chase in a single leg crab only for Corbin to throw the towel back out.

We see footage of Roxanne Perez's return home to Texas where Roxanne meets with her family and goes to DreamCon (and has a confrontation with Blair Davenport), gets advice from Booker T and wins her Weapons Wild Match.

Backstage, Meta-Four celebrate when Lash Legend reminds everyone of the importance of their win. Tyler Bate then shows up and talks his way into a match for Noam Dar's Heritage Cup Championship.

The Schism (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid, Ava) is in the ring with their followers. Joe Gacy says that while conflict within new members is not uncommon, but disobedience and insubordination is not tolerated and will not be eliminated, and that two of their masked members have went against them. Two of the members unmask and leave, while the third man unmasks to reveal himself as Ikemen Jiro. Rip Fowler dismisses a fourth member, and thinks the last two members are The Creed Brothers only to find out they are not. We then see The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) on vacation, who laugh at Schism and tell them that they are no longer in NXT and are having the time of their lives before thanking Schism for the vacation. An angry Joe Gacy says he knows The Creed Brothers are here, and tells his followers to bring The Creed Brothers to The Schism.

Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo's mystery partner shows up at the arena.

In backstage footage form last week, Cora Jade packs her bags in the locker room and leaves.

Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo's mystery partner is revealed to be Santos Escobar.

The D'Angelo Family (Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo) and Santos Escobar beat Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang) in a six-man tag match.

We hear from Ilja Dragunov, who says that Trick Williams is the sole reason he is not NXT Champion, and if Trick is not done with him, he is not done with Trick, and next week, his retribution begins and he will not stop until Trick is entirely terminated.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
