Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for August 12, 2020

Before the next match, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) are attacked by The Dark Order.

The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) beat The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) after Matt Jackson is tossed into the entrance tunnel and kept from returning to the match by the rest of The Dark Order.

MJF is seen backstage being a jerk to his campaign staff.

Kenny Omega and "Hangman" Adam Page talk about how The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) are their favorite tag team.

MJF shows up. After it is announced that MJF is beating Jon Moxley in the polls by a landslide, MJF says that he mourns for the fans' belief in their champion and leader, for today it dies. He says Moxley has made it clear he does not care about the fans, for he is not here tonight, but he is here and he cares, and promises he will always be here. MJF then takes accountability for Moxley's absence tonight, as Moxley is afraid of him and "Dictator John" is swimming in uncharted territory and dealing with a pro wrestler who is more talented than he is and will not look up at the lights for him. MJF says that he cares enough for the fans that he wants Moxley to show up for his job, then calls for the podium to be moved so he can lay down in the ring. MJF says he did not start his campaign to have a feud with him, and that he felt AEW needed quality leadership. He says that while Moxley is a good wrestler, he is not a good leader and is more of a rabid dog who has caught the finest automobile in the world in the form of the AEW World Championship but does not know what to do with it. He then says that if Moxley cared enough for the fans, he would fork the keys over to a real leader such as himself. Suddenly, Moxley shows up. MJF tells his staff to cut Moxley's potential entrances in the crowd off, but Moxley comes out of the entrance tunnel, enters the ring and attacks MJF before hitting him with the Paradigm Shift. Moxley tells MJF that does not make them even, and that they will not be even until All Out when he teaches MJF a painful lesson in humility and makes it a very bitter pill for MJF to swallow.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Matt Hardy, who has received stitches in his head and will not be able to return in ten days when he is medically cleared. Matt says he feels alive, and since last week, he has been seeing red and will continue to do so until Sammy Guevara bleeds like he did. He says that on the next Dynamite, he will kick Guevara's ass, and says that he is going to wait around until Guevara shows up tonight, as he is an ant who needs to be squashed. Suddenly, Matt Hardy sees somebody who looks like Sammy Guevara and attacks him, but it is really referee Mike Posey.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes retains the AEW TNT Championship - which is now finished - against Scorpio Sky. Mike Chioda, who has recently been released from WWE due to COVID-19-related budget cuts, is the referee for this match. After the match, The Dark Order shows up on the video screen, with Brodie Lee saying he will make history on the next episode of Dynamite by beating Cody for the TNT Championship as he shows up with the original, unfinished version of the TNT title. He tells Cody that his transgressions against The Dark Order will not go unpunished after the dispatching of The Elite and that Cody will put respect on his and The Dark Order's name, and says he will take the TNT title from Cody will giving him the unfinished version of the championship back.

Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) list The Hardys (Jeff and Matt Hardy) as their favorite tag team.

"Hangman" Adam Page and Kenny Omega retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus).

We hear from Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz), who trash Best Friends' (Chuck Taylor and Trent) gear by throwing it in the locker room shower, dumping it all over the floor and covering it in bleach after stating that they stole the tires off Trent's mom's minivan and that the refuse to apologize to Best Friends.

The Butcher and The Blade pick The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk) as their favorite tag team.

The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and The Rock 'n Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) are in the ring for Tag Team Appreciation Night. The Young Bucks credit The Rock 'n Roll Express for being "the original Young Bucks" and creating the style that they utilize today, leading the way for a slew of tag teams throughout the years. FTR credits Anderson and Tully for making it possible for tag teams to make a living in tag team wrestling, especially them, and credits both teams for paving the way for them to give a life to their kids that they never had. Morton says he has never missed an episode of AEW, but he has not seen so much chemistry in a match since them, Anderson and Blanchard until The Young Bucks, who he says has dominated tag team wrestling and brought it back to the level it was in the 1980s. Anderson says he is not a guy who blows smoke as it leaves a bad taste in his mouth, but he tells the truth and says that The Young Bucks has taken tag team wrestling and made it into something entirely different, and calls The Rock 'n Roll Express "the tag team of the century." He also calls FTR "the best tag team in the world." Blanchard takes the microphone and says Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback because he has championship rings, and that only the tag team champions are the best. Blanchard also confronts Anderson for jumping into Shawn Spears' match with Cody Rhodes last year, and Anderson - seeing Shawn Spears approaching the ring - leaves. When Tully tries to speak again, he gets punched by Morton, and Dax Harwood gets shoved to the mat and hurts his knee again as The Young Bucks try to break everything up. Suddenly, FTR attack The Rock 'n Roll Express, with Wheeler hitting Gibson in the back with Harwood's neck brace before hitting Morton with a piledriver. The leave the ring as "Hangman" Adam Page and Kenny Omega show up.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Mike Chioda, who says it was great to be in the ring again. Chris Jericho shows up and talks about the time he saved Chioda's job years ago, and asks Chioda to officiate his match against Orange Cassidy, telling him to "do the ring thing" if he needs him. Chioda says he will call it down the middle, but Jericho tells him that if he "calls it down the middle" when he gives the signal, he might just get him a job in AEW.

Hikaru Shida beats Heather Monroe by submission. After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews Shida, who says "I'm still waiting...bring it on."

Backstage, Jake "The Snake" Roberts talks about instilling fear in one's opponent while Lance Archer beats up a few people in the locker room. Archer then tears up Roberts' jacket to reveal the words "Everybody Dies!!" on Roberts' back.

The next episode of Dynamite will be on Saturday, August 22, either at 6 PM Eastern Time or immediately after the NBA playoffs (whichever happens first). Next week: FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy)! The Elite (Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega) vs. The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Alan Angels and John Silver)! The finals of the Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament! Darby Allin in action! The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix), The Butcher and The Blade vs. Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurs) and The Natural Nightmares ("The Natural" Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall)! Brodie Lee vs. "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes for the AEW TNT Championship!

Orange Cassidy beats Chris Jericho in a $7,000 Obligation Match. During the match, Jericho tells referee Mike Chioda to turn around so that he can hit Orange Cassidy with his baseball bat. Chioda turns around, but then turns back and stops him from using the baseball bat as a weapon. Jericho grabs Chioda, and that nearly costs Jericho the match. After Orange hits Jericho with a Superman Punch, Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) and Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) brawl on the stage, and Jake Hager sneaks into the ring to slam Orange Cassidy into the mat, even though Best Friends and The Inner Circle are all supposed to be banned from ringside for this match. Despite all this, Cassidy kicks out, and Jericho shoves Chioda to hit a low blow only to be suddenly pinned by Cassidy with a a Mousetrap pin.

Here are the top five moments from tonight's show!
