Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for August 7, 2020

Firefly Fun House starts the show. Bray Wyatt says that "a couple of haters" have slid into his DM blaming him for what happened to Alexa Bliss last week, and says that Braun Strowman is to blame for letting it happen. He says this could have been avoided if Strowman gave "him" what he wants, and says that "he" will be here later. He warns Strowman to give "him" what "he" wants, or else he will find out what "he" is capable of.

Matt Riddle beats Sheamus by disqualification when Shorty G attacks Riddle again to cash in on the King's Ransom on Riddle. After the match, Shorty G tires to take Riddle out, but Riddle overpowers him and kicks Shorty G into the steel steps. After Riddle leaves, Sheamus sends Shorty G into the ring and Brogue Kicks him. Sheamus chews Shorty G out for interfering in his match with Riddle, then Brogue Kicks him again.

Backstage, King Corbin - who is talking to trainer Sara Amato - is confronted by Sheamus, who tells him that he should be lucky a lady is present and that he will beat him up and stick his crown up his arse if someone tries to cash in during his match again. Corbin says he should be glad he is talking to somebody else at the moment, or else he would beat him up.

It's time for The Dirt Sheet. After footage of what happened between Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville from last week, as well as microphones cutting out, Mandy Rose's hair is introduced as tonight's guest via satellite. A blonde wig with googly eyes pasted on is on the TitanTron, and John Morrison provides the voice for Mandy's hair as he and The Miz continue to make fun of what is going on between Mandy and Sonya as well as to make hair jokes. The Miz then gives "a Dirt Sheet welcome" to "the real victim" in the situation: Sonya Deville. Sonya says she can get behind Mandy's hair more than Mandy herself, and says she told Mandy she would make her as ugly on the outside as much as she is on the inside, and she did it. She also says that she enjoyed it, as image is all Mandy has. Sonya says she does not feel bad for Mandy because she has no respect for her. She also says that Mandy Rose isn't coming out for revenge because she destroyed her, and Miz and Morrison says nobody has heard from Mandy since last week. Sonya then says Mandy and Otis look more like a couple now, and Miz says "a couple of ogres." After some Shrek references, Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) show up and attack Miz and Morrison.

Cesaro beats Lince Dorado following the interference attempt by Shinsuke Nakamura.

Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) vs. The Miz and John Morrison is official for later tonight.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis). Otis says everything is a joke to The Miz and John Morrison, and while he likes jokes, they crossed the line. Tucker says that what Sonya Deville did was despicable and that Miz and Morrison cannot let it go. Otis says he is used to being a joke, but he will not stand people making fun of Mandy Rose. He says that after tonight, nobody will be laughing.

"The Fiend" Bray Wyatt shows up. After the commercial break, we see footage of The Fiend trying to put the Mandible Claw on Alexa Bliss, but Bliss touches his hand and touches The Fiend's face. Suddenly, Braun Strowman's voice is heard. Strowman then appears on the TitanTron, saying he does not give a damn about Alexa and that all he cares about is destroying The Fiend. He said he would either come out of the swamp "the most evil son-of-a-bitch" or someone with the satisfaction of destroying The Fiend. He says he "the most evil son-of-a-bitch" the world has ever laid eyes on, and while he tried to resist it, he has let it out and he is living out his destiny. He tells The Fiend he can have whatever he wants, and tells The Fiend to face him at SummerSlam.

Jeff Hardy beats King Corbin by disqualification after Sheamus runs in and hits Jeff Hardy with a Brogue Kick. Corbin and Sheamus have an argument after the match.

Sheamus beats King Corbin when Matt Riddle shows up and leaps over Corbin from the top turnbuckle.

Backstage, Bayley meets with Sasha Banks. Sasha tells Bayley that she has Asuka, and that this is all about them now that they have all the women's gold. Suddenly, a backstage worker tells them they have to be in the ring for a video conference with Stephanie McMahon.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Big E. Big E says he may have been a entertainer, tag team partner and friend for the last five years, then says it is time to see what could have been if he was passed the ball. He says that his current situation lifts his up, and he will give this single run his all.

Bayley and Sasha Banks have a video conference with Stephanie McMahon in the ring. Stephanie shows up on the TitanTron and congratulates them on winning all the main roster women's gold, and Bayley and Sasha appreciate her thanks. Bayley and Sasha say they are just trying to be role models, but Stephanie brings up the attack on Kairi Sane before saying they have gotten everyone's attention, including hers. Bayley and Sasha try to suck up to her, but Stephanie says she is not one to hold a grudge. She then challenges them, and states that Sasha will defend the Raw Women's Championship at SummerSlam against Asuka. As for Bayley, there will be a triple brand battle royal next week with the winner facing her for the SmackDown Women's Championship at SummerSlam.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews The Miz and John Morrison. Miz says he and Morrison are true professionals and that true comedy offends, and Morrison says "ham-and-eggers" like Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) get confused and then angry. Miz says it will not take much to outwit Otis. On the subject of how angry Otis is, The Miz and John Morrison are not fazed, and say that Heavy Machinery are only ferocious in catering.

The Miz and John Morrison vs. Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) ends with Mandy Rose - now sporting a shorter haircut - attacking Sonya Deville before fighting her in the ring. Heavy Machinery, Miz and Morrison have to break it up.

Backstage, Adam Pearce has to help Heavy Machinery, The Miz and John Morrison separate Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville when the lights go out. At the ring, several people clad in all black with masks and hoodies are seen striking with bats and crowbars. They strike numerous things and chase Michael Cole, Corey Graces and even the cameramen away before attacking audience members. The people clad in black then topple the announce table before spray painting numerous things in the area with spray paint. One of the people then cuts the ropes with a chainsaw.
