Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 24, 2020

Drew McIntyre shows up to start tonight's show. McIntyre welcomes everyone to the show, and calls his SummerSlam match against Randy Orton one of his biggest challenges to date. He tells Randy Orton that he pulled off the victory by being hungrier and harder-working than him, and says that he is willing to step up as WWE Champion. He also says his journey has taught him about hard times and desperation. McIntyre goes on to say that Orton has never known those things, as he has always been protected and had his way to the top ensured, and while he was great when he started and is the absolute best now, he was that much better than Orton last night. McIntyre then brings up Orton calling himself "the greatest wrestler ever" after beating Edge in "The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" and beating him with a wrestling maneuver, asking what that makes him before saying he looks forward to a rematch where he kicks his head off. As McIntyre stands on the stage, he is attacked from behind by Orton. McIntyre and Orton brawl their way backstage to Gorilla position, where referees step in only for Orton to punt McIntyre in the head. As referees check on McIntyre, Orton punts McIntyre in the head again.

Backstage, referees and officials check on Drew McIntyre, who stumbles away under his own power.

We see a vignette for Keith Lee, who debuts on Raw tonight.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Nia Jax, who reveals that she was reinstated after apologizing to Pat Buck. Suddenly, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler shows up and says everyone is waiting for Nia to get herself suspended again, and this leads to some banter between Nia and Baszler after Nia offers her help.

Nia Jax shows up to watch from the stage before the next match.

"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler beats Bayley by disqualification after Baszler is yanked off the ring apron by Nia Jax. Bayley and Sasha Banks laugh and tell Nia to get Baszler, but Nia looks at them, Baszler gets up and the two of them approach Bayley and Sasha, causing them to change their tune.

Backstage, Kevin Owens finds Aleister Black in a pitch black room as he looks for him, as The Kevin Owens Show is next.

It's time for The Kevin Owens Show. Tonight's guest is Aleister Black. Aleister Black shows up with a black bandage covering his right eye. After the footage of Murphy ramming Aleister's eye into the steel steps from last month is replayed, Owens says that Seth Rollins and his disciples can get into people's heads, as it is something Rollins loves to do. Owens says he has done terrible things through his career and that he is trying to rectify that, then Aleister stumbles only to hit Owens with a back elbow followed by a Black Mass. Aleister then leaves.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Bayley and Sasha Banks. Bayley and Sasha are more concerned about Sasha's Raw Women's Championship rematch, and Bayley says they will take care of Nia Jax and "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler afterwards.

Akira Tozawa beats R-Truth, Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin in a Fatal 4-Way Match to win the WWE 24/7 Championship after Tozawa is caught and brought back to the ring by his ninjas. Shelton Benjamin goes after the ninjas, but Tozawa pins R-Truth in the ring to win the title.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Randy Orton, who says he has something to say regarding what Drew McIntyre has said earlier tonight.

Randy Orton shows up. Orton says that for the longest time, he has done what he wanted to when he wanted to do it, but last night was not the case. Orton says he will always be a man of his word, as he has destroyed legends like he said he would because he is "The Legend Killer." Regarding what Drew McIntyre said earlier, he punted McIntyre not once, but twice, because he stood in the ring and offered him a rematch out of pity. Suddenly, Keith Lee shows up. Lee notes that Orton looks perplexed, then introduces himself and says he is here to offer him the opportunity to bask in his glory, and also says that while Orton has been called many things, so has he. Lee then notes that Orton is looking for a fight, then challenges Orton to a one-on-one match against him right here, right now. Orton says "Maybe later," then leaves.

Backstage, Charly Caruso notices Zelina Vega arguing with Angel Garza while Demi Burnett from The Bachelor is nearby. Zelina insists she had nothing to do with Montez Ford's poisoning and that the footage proves nothing. Garza tries to step in and defend Zelina, but it does not work and Zelina leaves. Garza then invites Demi - who says that Ivar wants to see her - and Charly to see his match, which is next.

Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton is official for later tonight.

Montez Ford beats Angel Garza. During the match, Ivar hands Demi Burnett a turkey leg and takes her backstage, much to the disbelief of Angel Garza. This allows Montez Ford to get the win on a distracted Garza.

Backstage, Nia Jax talks with "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler. She admits she was not thrilled about teaming up with her at first, then tells her she wants to win the Women's Tag Team titles. Baszler says she'll do it if she leaves her alone, and Nia accepts as long as Baszler follows her lead. Baszler slaps her, then leaves. Nia leaves, then Bianca Belair talks with Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan about winning their match.

Suddenly, MVP shows up and chews Cedric out for playing around backstage. MVP also chews out Ricochet when he speaks out for him, then says that Ricochet abandoned Cedric last week and implies that his offer is still on the table before heading off to take care of some business.

"The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry is in the ring to officiate an arm wrestling contest between Bobby Lashley and Apollo Crews. Lashley comes out first, followed by Apollo Crews. Henry mentioned that Cedric Alexander, Ricochet, MVP and Shelton Benjamin have been asked not to come to the ring to ensure a fair competition, but Lashley says he has no competition and does not need MVP or Shelton, and that he will beat Apollo before beating him up ahead of Payback. Apollo warns Lashley that what happened to MVP last night will happen to him at Payback, then says he will win the arm wrestling contest. After a false start by Lashley, Apollo stomps on Lashley's foot when Lashley puts his foot under the table - which is against the rules - and slams Lashley's hand onto the table to win the arm wrestling contest. Lashley goes after Apollo, but Apollo gets the last word on him, MVP and Shelton.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews The Mysterio Family (Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Angie). Rey says that he is proud of his son regardless of what happens tonight following his match last night, saying he gave Seth Rollins hell. Dominik admits he was terrified, but he knew he had his family in his corner and did what he had to do. Rey says the family gives each other strength, and says that Rollins will have a family one day, understand what he put them through and suffer the consequences for the rest of his career. Rey says that Dominik has become a person he has never seen before, and says that tonight is not about winning or losing and is a night he can share with his son. He says that Seth Rollins cannot ruin this moment, and that Seth Rollins is looking at the "bright future" that he keeps talking about in Dominik.

Natalya and Lana are in the ring. Lana says tonight is a very special day, as they are inducting a woman into the hall of fame. Natalya says she will be in the WWE Hall of Fame soon, then states that they are inducting Mickie James and that tonight, her trail ends. Lana says she and Natalya have tried to elevate her, but Natalya says that tonight, they will retire "the chick with the kick" before showing a video package of Mickie James that Natalya made herself, which contains just a black screen. Mickie James runs into the ring and lays out both Natalya and Lana.

Backstage, Bobby Lashley, MVP and Shelton Benjamin head into Raw Underground, with Lashley wanting to beat somebody up.

On Raw Underground, Lashley lays out an opponent quickly, then Dolph Ziggler steps up to Lashley. Ziggler takes down Lashley, but Lashley soon overpowers him. Ziggler fights back with a sleeper, but Lashley shoves him out of the ropeless ring. MVP and Shelton Benjamin throw in another opponent, and Lashley lays that opponent out with one big boot to the face.

Randy Orton beats Keith Lee by disqualification after Orton is attacked by Drew McIntyre. Orton flees after jumping the barricade.

Referees have to step in before Orton can do any further damage.
