Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 10, 2020

In memory of "Kamala" James Harris, 1950 - 2020.

Samoa Joe moderates a contract to start tonight's show. Seth Rollins is introduced first, followed by Dominik Mysterio. Dominik shows up with a Kendo stick as he slowly walks down the ramp and enters the ring. Rollins questions Dominik's brandishing of a Kendo stick, then Joe takes it and says the Kendo stick is safer with him, then Joe says that what Rollins is doing is sad, as he should be seeing a great Superstar, but instead he sees a Superstar caught up in his own feelings. He says that Rollins has given someone with little to no training no choice but to face him in the ring, but Rollins says he gave Dominik, Rey Mysterio and Aleister Black choices only for them to make the wrong ones. Rollins says he is the only person who has been given no choice, and he says that while he does not play the victim card, he has been forced into this situation as he got crapped on by everyone in WWE when he was "Monday Night Rollins." Rollins then asks when it will be enough for anybody, but Dominik says it will never be enough, for Rollins makes excuses for everything he has done as he has fought only for himself. Rollins calls Dominik "ungrateful" for the dream he has given him, but Dominik says his dream is to kick Rollins' ass at SummerSlam. Rollins laughs, then says Dominik would not last ten seconds in a standard one-on-one match with him. He then decides to do Dominik a favor, as Dominik seems to be handy with a Kendo stick, and proposes that Dominik can bring it with him and use it - or anything in the toolbox - as he sees fit to prove Dominik has no excuse when he ends his career before it begins. Rollins signs the contract, as does Dominik, then Rollins asks for a round of applause for "WWE's newest Superstar" before telling him to get out of the ring, pay his dues and takes some notes as he takes on Humberto Carrillo.

Seth Rollins beats Humberto Carrillo despite Dominik Mysterio stopping Murphy from interfering in the match. After the match, Murphy attacks Dominik, then sends him into the ring at Rollins' command so he and Murphy can take the boots to him. Dominik elbows Murphy, then goes after Rollins, but the numbers game catches up. Murphy then grabs the Kendo stick and hands it to Rollins, who then strikes Dominik with the Kendo stick. Murphy then removes Dominik's shirt, and Rollins continues to hit Dominik with the Kendo stick, leaving welts. Rollins and Murphy then tie Dominik in the ropes, and Rollins continues to strike Dominik as he looks in the camera and mocks Rey Mysterio, telling him to beg for mercy for his son like a coward. At Rollins' command, Murphy produces more Kendo stick from underneath the ring, and Rollins allows Murphy to take part in the proceedings and strike Murphy in the back from ringside. Rollins and Murphy then take turns striking Dominik. After a few more Kendo stick strikes, Rollins asks Dominik if he wants to be a man before attempting The Stomp. Rollins stops short when Dominik collapses in the middle of the ring.

We see a video package of the actions of the people clad in all black from the last week, who are now collectively known as "Retribution."

Before the next match, Zelina Vega says everyone has forgotten the saying of "innocent until proven guilty," and says she had nothing to do with Montez Ford's poisoning last week, as she did not want to ruin the most important match of her men's careers. She says that she does not thrive off her men's success; she creates it, and that Bianca Belair could learn a thing to learn from her. Zelina reiterates she has nothing to do with Montez Ford's poisoning and says that while Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) want the smoke, she and her men want the Raw tag team titles.

We see a preview for "Game On!" on Netflix, starring Big Show.

Angelo Dawkins beats Montez Ford after Zelina Vega gets on the ring apron and Bianca Belair shows up to yank her off. After the match, Bianca Belair goes after Zelina Vega.

Bianca Belair beats Zelina Vega. After the match, Charly Caruso interviews Bianca Belair, who says everybody knows Zelina Vega did it as she says that Montez Ford is out for now. On the subject of Montez Ford's condition, Angelo Dawkins says there is no way Montez Ford will miss SummerSlam in two weeks.

It's time for The VIP Lounge. MVP says this is a different episode and that he is not in a celebratory mood, stating that he wants to pop people in the mouth while Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin wants to pop ligaments and tendons. MVP says he knew a conspiracy was going on after the events caused by Retribution took place, and asks how he can win a championship in unsafe working conditions, and says the lights beat him, not Apollo Crews. As MVP blames Apollo Crews for the malfunctions going on, Apollo shows up and says that MVP is always making excuses for his failures before stating MVP is the real one hurting now that he has his custom-made championship. MVP calls Apollo Crews a chronic bad decision maker, but Apollo Crews says he is allowed to make bad decisions because he is a bad man, and says that if MVP doesn't care about him or his family, then he does not care about Lashley or Shelton. He then says he cares about MVP, and says that the only lights going out will be his at SummerSlam. Apollo then clears the ring and throws one of the couches in the ring over the top rope.

Shelton Benjamin beats Apollo Crews with a schoolkid pin following the distraction by MVP. After the match, Bobby Lashley puts Apollo in the full nelson, but MVP stops him, saying he needs Apollo healthy for SummerSlam. Apollo returns the favor with an enzuigiri to MVP after Lashley lets him go.

It is reported that a cinder block has been thrown through a glass window at the WWE Performance Center, and footage of this act is shown.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Mickie James, who announces that she has championship gold on her mind. Suddenly, Lana and Natalya show up in matching outfit and boast about how good they are at Tiktok and winning matches, respectively. After they call themselves "BOATs" (short for "Best of all time"), Mickie James remind them that while they are good, "BOATs" sink.

As Ivar talks to a young woman about his competitions with The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford), Erik, Cedric Alexander and Ricochet show up to remind him they have a match up next. The young woman apologizes, then says Ivar is cute, while Erik...not so much.

The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik), Ricochet and Cedric Alexander beat Akira Tozawa and three ninjas after one of the ninjas is reluctant. As Tozawa and the reluctant ninja head to the back, a referee shows up. The reluctant ninja pins Tozawa with a schoolkid pin and wins the WWE 24/7 Championship before revealing themselves to be R-Truth, who has won the title for the 38th time.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Drew McIntyre. McIntyre says that Randy Orton keeps his knowledge to himself due to self-preservation, as he wants to stay on top of WWE as long as he can, and that he will take the torch from him and kick him in the head as hard as he can, as evolution has passed him by. On the subject of Kevin Owens potentially taking the torch from Orton tonight, McIntyre says that if he does, he and Owens will have a long talk about the future after tonight.

Before the next match, The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) mock Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott's reunion, and say that they have shaped their IIconic futures as Liv and Ruby have campaigned to be drama queens.

Peyton Royce beats Liv Morgan after Ruby Riott gets on the ring apron and gets stopped by the referee after Billie Kay tries to assist Peyton during the match.

It's time for Raw Underground. Riddick Moss and Cal Bloom are having a match, and the match leaves the ring briefly. Both men are evenly matched, but Riddick Moss goes for the eyes, hits a headbutt and knocks Cal Bloom out.

Asuka beats Bayley with the Asuka Lock to face Sasha Banks for the WWE Raw Women's Championship at SummerSlam.

At Raw Underground, Arturo Ruas overpowers his opponent. After a ground-and-pound, Ruas knocks his opponent out with a fierce roundhouse kick.

At Raw Underground, Dabba-Kato dominates another opponent. After the groin claw followed by a punch, the guy is out, and Shayna Baszler gets in the ring. When nobody wants to get in the ring with her, Shayna tosses her own opponent into the ring and pounds on her. Other women try to make the save, but Shayna fends them off even as they all come at her at once.

Outside of the WWE Performance Center, Retribution have toppled a car.

Randy Orton beats Kevin Owens. After the match, Randy Orton asks "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair to stay put, as they have something to celebrate. After the commercial break, Orton says he has every right to be upset with him, but he cannot, as he cannot find it in his heart. He says he only faced Kevin Owens because Flair's ego got him into it, but it is just what Flair does. Orton says that he has grown up with Flair and that Flair has been there for him for the last twenty years, then asks Flair if he remembers when he got him out of a jam years ago before saying he does not love or respect him anymore due to his being a liability. He then says that Flair took him under his wing to make him the son he wished he had, and says that all Flair is good for is crying as he is not the man people looked up to years ago, as the Flair he knows would not be frail, weak and a spotlight junkie. Orton says that Flair is only concerned about himself and not his eventual 14th WWE Championship win, but Flair takes the microphone, says he is taking this personally, then admits he is not the man he used to be. Orton also admits that he loves the spotlight, and says he wants to be there when Orton breaks his own championship record, as he is the one to do it. He says he loves being with Orton, and says he cannot be mad because after 31 days of intensive care, all he wanted was to tell the people he appreciated he loved them. Orton hugs Flair, then hits in him the groin when he turns around. Orton backs up into the corner, then punts Flair in the head as the lights flicker in and out. Drew McIntyre runs into the ring and chases Orton out before checking on Flair. Referees and officials soon rush in to check on Flair, and McIntyre and Orton have an intense staredown across the ramp. The show ends with McIntyre telling Orton that he will get everything coming to him at SummerSlam.

Raw Talk: Bianca Belair does not buy Zelina Vega's story.
