Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for August 5, 2020

The Dark Order (Brodie Lee, Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, 5, 9, Colt Cabana) beat The Elite ("Hangman" Adam Page, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega) and FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) after Brodie Lee ducks the Buckshot Lariat and turns Adam Page inside out with a lariat of his own. During the match, Harwood tweaks his right knee and has to be helped to the back, and Wheeler and Page head to the back with him. Page soon returns near the end of the match.

In footage from earlier today, Trent's mom Sue drops Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) off at the arena.

We hear from Jon Moxley, who says that when he was younger, he struggled with a lot of demons, and that early in his career, it felt like he was wrestling ghosts in the wrong. He says that people who cared about him tried to talk him out of things, and looking back, there were some cases where he wishes he listened, as he paid a price, but in other cases, he would not change a thing. He says he knows why Darby Allin challenged him for the AEW World Championship, but he has become the advocate and a voice of reason for someone's health in an ironic twist, as he knows that Allin will come at him and refuse to stop until he can't move. Moxley says that the last time they met, he nearly broke his neck, and he does not want to be the man who ended Allin's career. He then says that the title is on the line, and when the contract is signed, he has to do what he has to do. Moxley asks Allin to stay down when it is time to stay down, even though he knows he will not listen, because he knows he would not.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) beat Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) after Chuck Taylor shuts down a double-team maneuver attempt by Proud 'n Powerful.

We hear from MJF, who opens the door to his campaign headquarters. After giving his employees a hard time and finding out that he is leading in the polls, MJF says that his campaign is not over until the AEW World Championship is around his waist. When asked about the possibility of Darby Allin winning, MJF says it would suck if "the 125-pound emo kid" would have to defend the title against him.

Matt Hardy is in the ring. He says that when he came to AEW, he wanted to go somewhere where he would be respected and felt like he had a say in the direction of his career. He says that he took a look at the locker room and felt that he could be an attraction and introduce the world to his universe, and since then, he has had a blast. Matt then says that he listens to his audience, as does AEW, and that the majority of the audience who watch on television want to see him focus on being him, and that is what he is going to do. He also says that he wants to give back, and then says that Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) remind him of him and his brother Jeff, and he is willing to help them if they ask. He also mentions offering his help to Sammy Guevara, and says that Guevara did not take his advice and even attacked him from behind. He then says that he returned the favor, and since then, he desires to hurt him rather than help him. As he speaks, Guevara sneaks into the ring, but Matt Hardy senses him coming and brawls with him. During the brawl, Guevara busts Matt Hardy open by throwing an opened chair at his face, then putting him through a table with a 450 splash from the stage.

Outside of the arena, Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) destroy Sue's minivan with a sledgehammer, smashing the windows and spray painting "Sue" with an X over it on the hood.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes and Matt Cardona beat The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds and John Silver). After the match, Scorpio Sky has a brief face-to-face meeting with Cody over the TNT Championship.

We hear from Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent). Chuck Taylor says that Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) destroyed Sue's minivan and made a liar out of him, as he promised Sue that he would protect her minivan personally. Trent says that Proud 'n Powerful can do whatever they want to them, but they do not touch his mom's minivan. Chuck Taylor says they would have been happy to give them a rematch, and Trent says that when they do, Proud 'n Powerful will apologize to his mom on speakerphone.

It is time for Super Wednesday Debate 2020 between Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho. Eric Bischoff is the special guest moderator for the debate, marking his first appearance on TNT in 20 years. Jericho shows up with Jake Hager carrying the orange juice-stained jacket on the way to the ring. When asked why he and Orange Cassidy hate each other so much, Jericho mocks Orange Cassidy for always dressing like he does, but Cassidy answers by putting on a black clip-on tie, then says he despises - not hates - everything Orange Cassidy is and stands for, and tells him he is not the greatest thing in pro wrestling history. Jericho tells Orange that everyone laughs at everything he does, and so does he. Jericho calls Orange Cassidy a flash in the pan a "ginger jackass who places pocket pool on a weekly basis." Cassidy offers no response. When asked who is the bigger wrestler and the biggest star, Jericho says it is him on both counts, as he has held 50 titles around the world and Cassidy has only been the biggest slacker in his high school and has never left the state of Florida. Jericho goes on to say he would be like a high school bully to him before bashing his looks again. Cassidy offers no response. When asked about their thoughts on global warming, Jericho says the question has nothing to do with the debate, then Cassidy speaks with some scientific evidence and says that it will only continue to harm coastal communities, much to the surprise of everybody, including Jericho and Bischoff. When asked why Orange Cassidy is so popular, Jericho says Orange Cassidy is the epitome of everything wrong with wrestling today, in addition to being lazy, arrogant, and entitled, and says that he is a pimple on the ass of pro wrestling before saying he will pop him a second time and make Cassidy pay $7,000 to replace his jacket, quit pro wrestling and take his order at the mall, where he will refuse to give him a tip. Cassidy offers no response. When asked why the rematch means so much to them, Jericho speaks only for Orange Cassidy to tell him to shut up, then says Jericho scheduled a debate against a guy who doesn't talk just to try to embarrass him, then tells him it has not worked because he does not care. He then says he cares about the rematch, as it is the biggest match of his life as well as Jericho's, then asks him to imagine having done everything in the professional wrestling business only to lose to "the guy who puts his hands in his pockets," then tells him to look into his eyes and look at the man who will embarrass him and beat him next week. Bischoff declares Orange Cassidy has walked away with the debate, saying the "global warming thing" got him. Jericho says he has hated Bischoff for the last 20 years, and Bischoff retorts that it has been 24 years and that he knows exactly how he feels. Jericho then says that next week, he will kick the shit out of him in the ring before deciding to do it right now by sicking Jake Hager on him. Hager pounds on Cassidy in the corner, then puts his hands in his pockets before throwing him into a Judas Effect. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) run in and chase Jericho and Hager out of the ring.

Tony Schiavone interviews Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D., who announces that Big Swole will have to face Reba in the ring in order to get to her.

Big Swole beats Reba.

Next week: Scorpio Sky vs. "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes for the AEW TNT Championship! Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy in a $7,000 obligation match ! Kenny Omega and "Hangman" Adam Page vs. Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy)! The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)! A special appearance by The Rock 'n Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson), Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson are part of Tag Team Appreciation Night!

Jon Moxley retains the AEW World Championship against Darby Allin with the Paradigm Shift after countering a second Coffin Drop with a sleeper hold followed by a Gotch-style piledriver. During the match, Wardlow shows up and distracts the referee so that MJF can hit Moxley with the AEW World Championship, busting him open. After the match, Moxley cradles Allin.

Here are the top fie moments from tonight's show!
