Generation NXT - NXT recap for May 13, 2020

Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) beat Timothy Thatcher and Matt Riddle to become the NXT Tag Team Champions! During the match, Riddle inadvertently monkey flips Barthel into Thatcher, and this makes Thatcher so angry with Riddle that he leaves him high and dry, telling him that he is on his own before walking to the back.

Backstage, Timothy Thatcher says he is tired of the fun and games from Matt Riddle. When Riddle confronts him, it gets physical, and referees and officials have to separate both men.

Tegan Nox beats Indi Hartwell.

We hear from Rhea Ripley, who says that while WrestleMania had not gone as planned, the thought of Charlotte Flair with the NXT Women's Championship sickens him. She says that Io Shirai could not get the job done, and says that she will be the one to get the title back. She says that if she has to beat that into Shirai, so be it, for she and Charlotte have only just begun and the title belongs to her.

Backstage, Matt Riddle announces that he has a match with Timothy Thatcher tonight, thanks to General Manager William Regal, whom he has just talked with on a tablet. Suddenly, Thatcher attacks Riddle.

Backstage, Byron Saxton interviews Jake Atlas, who says he has to defeat a former Cruiserweight Champion to advance. He hopes Drake Maverick beats KUSHIDA, but he cannot afford to think ahead and must beat "The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese.

Jake Atlas beats "The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese (who is mathematically eliminated from the tournament before the match) in Group A of the Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. After the match, Atlas is 2-1 while Nese is 0-3.

We see a video chat between Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly. O'Reilly talks about a movie role he has just landed when Bobby Fish joins in, followed by Roderick Strong. Cole tells everyone in the chat that he made Velveteen Dream into a joke, then the four of them ponder why Dexter Lumis is getting involved in their business before deciding to take him out. Everyone agrees that Roderick Strong should take him out.

We see a vignette for Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Kross says they are not here to shock a system or save the fans from their collective black hearts; they are the fans' entertainment, and it is time to wake up from the dream where they stay asleep forever. He says that Tommaso Ciampa was the first, but not the last.

We see a vignette for Dakota Kai and Racquel Gonzales. Dakota says that something had to change during her injury, as too much focus was on Tegan Nox than her. She then said the change was made at TakeOver: War Games. She then says her career went to a whole new level when Raquel showed up, and that Raquel is the only woman who has her trust and her back. Raquel says they both know what it is like to be outcasts, and that they plan to hurt a lot of people.

Backstage, Isaiah "Swerve" Scott says confidence will be the reason why he will stay alive in the Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament, and that he will come out on top against "Gentleman" Jack Gallagher. He also says that if he cannot get a win in the tournament, he should quit wrestling altogether.

Triple H and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels announces that tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of the very first In Your House PPV, and "Road Dogg" Jesse James joins in afterwards. Triple H then announces that on June 7th, NXT TakeOver: In Your House will be on the WWE Network.

Cameron Grimes beats Finn Balor after Damian Priest shows up and attacks Balor with a nightstick. After the match, Priest gets in the ring with a steel chair. Balor goes for it, but Priest hits Balor with a Reckoning on the chair before placing the now-folder-out chair on Balor's neck before saying he might as well take out a Prince to live forever. He then says he had no idea he would enjoy it like he did three weeks ago, confirming himself as Finn Balor's mystery attacker.

"Gentleman" Jack Gallagher (who is mathematically eliminated from the tournament before the match) beats Isaiah "Swerve" Scott in Group B of the Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. Before the match, Swerve is attacked by "The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese, who tells him that he will never have the Cruiserweight Championship. After the match, Gallagher and Swerve are both 1-2. Because of this, Swerve is also mathematically eliminated from the tournament.

Kayden Carter beats Aliyah by submission. During the match, Robert Stone is seen watching from a distance.

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae have dinner. They brag about their wins from last week, and Gargano calls Keith Lee "another flavor of the month" while saying that DominiK Dijakovic learned that if he speaks his name, there will be consequences. He also finds out that that anyone who gets in the way will find out it is their way or none. LeRae then says that Mia Yim got a title shot against Charlotte Flair while she got Kacy Catanzaro. She calls Catanzaro an example of what the undeserved will get from them that Mia Yim should take heed of, and says that Mia Yim just caters to the ground and deserves nothing just like everyone else. Gargano then addresses Keith Lee and the adulation that he gets, and says that everyone will love Keith Lee until they don't, as the adulation he looks for does not exist and that he will eventually be betrayed by the fans who leech onto him before something else comes around.

Next week: KUSHIDA vs. Drake Maverick and El Hijo del Fantasma vs. Akira Tozawa in the Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament! Rhea Ripley vs. Io Shirai!

Matt Riddle beats Timothy Thatcher after pinning Thatcher's shoulders to the mat to counter a submission hold. After the match, Thatcher attacks Riddle yet again, then puts him in a Fujiwara Arm Bar. He lets go of the hold, but then applies it again. He still has Riddle in the hold as the show ends.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
