Generation NXT - NXT recap for April 4, 2018

As Charly Caruso gives a recent rundown of what has happened in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, we see numerous WWE alumni and legends entering the arena. It is also announced that Bobby Fish has suffered a knee injury and is not medically cleared to compete at this time.

Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne vs. The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic ends in a double disqualification after The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly) attack both teams. As The Undisputed Era leaves, General Manager William Regal shows up. Regal says what The Undisputed Era did was smart, as they thought they did not have to defend the titles if the tournament had no winner. He then says they were not smart enough. He then puts both teams from the finals in a triple threat tag team match against The Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championships for NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, where the winners will both win the tag team titles and the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

We see a video package previewing the six-way ladder match for the NXT North American Championship at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

We see a video package chronicling the events leading up to Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

Kairi Sane beats Vanessa Borne.

In footage from earlier today, Lacey Evans says there is nothing she can accomplish in NXT until General Manager William Regal stops allowing "societal trash" to walk around. She says that she has shown what a strong woman is capable of, and yet "complete psychos" like Nikki Cross run the show. She also asks when the last time Ember Moon has made a difference and shown the strength of a woman. She also plans to take Kairi Sane's opportunity just like a proper woman woman.

Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly confront William Regal over putting Adam Cole in two matches at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. He gives them three choices: Cole takes part in both matches, O'Reilly competes on his own, or Cole leaves the North American Championship match for the tag team title match.

We see a video package previewing the NXT Championship match between Aleister Black and Andrade "Cien" Almas.

We see footage from earlier this week where Ember Moon is not sorry for her brawl with "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler for Baszler's selfish, spoiled and disrespectful behavior. She says that she represents NXT, and that Baszler started the war and that she will end it.

Next week: Kairi Sane vs. Lacey Evans!

Lars Sullivan vs. Killian Dain ends in a no-contest. During the match, Velveteen Dream shows up after both Lars and Killian fight on the second rope and crash to the outside, and he is soon joined by Adam Cole. They are then joined by Ethan Carter III, and all three men then argue with each other. Killian Dain gets up, as does Lars Sullivan, and neither man is happy that they are here. Ricochet then shows up to round out the preview of NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.
